Kagome’s eyes cracked open slowly, her body stiff from sleeping on the hard ground all night. A soft groan escaped her lips as her eyes looked blearily around, trying to focus. The camp was almost deathly silent, not even the rustle of leaves could be heard. Franticly, Kagome’s eyes looked around her, searching for Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, even Shipo’s comforting form sleeping beside her or somewhere near, but all she saw was forest and a small stream.

Her breath hitched in her throat and she glanced around her, on the edge of panicking. Still not a living soul in sight. Kagome pulled her bangs out of her eyes and moaned. “Inuyasha?” Everything stayed silent. “Inuyasha!” Tears were streaming down her cheeks and she couldn’t stop them. She didn’t know where she was.

Her mind filled with all the horrible things that could happen to her now that she was alone and without a weapon.

Sesshoumaru looked behind him secretly to watch as Rin laced flowers through a sleeping Jaken’s hair. Jaken’s small, lumpy form rested on Au-Un’s back, alongside Rin, who was grinning from ear to ear as she placed tiny flower petals in Jaken’s thinning, wiry hair. Although Rin was trying hard to hide it, Sesshoumaru’s acute hearing picked up the sound of her tiny laughter, being muffled by a small, pudgy hand.

Sesshoumaru’s head jerked back to look through the trees to a small clearing when he heard the sound of someone calling his hanyou half-brother’s name wildly, and his nose picked up the scent of panic and tears. The corner of his eye picked up a flash of white behind the trees.

He sensed no danger, but just to be sure, he wanted to make sure Rin would be safe. “Ah-Un, take Rin and Jaken to the castle. Once you get there, wake Jaken. Make sure he understands that he must stay awake from now on.” His voice rang coldly in the warmth of the rising sun, and Ah-Un responded with a snort before taking off. Sesshoumaru’s eyes flashed around, looking for another flash of movement.

Steadily, he stepped forward. Usually he would have been in the clearing in less than seconds, but he didn’t want to frighten the girl anymore than she was already. He found it odd that he cared, considering the fact that the female was human. But her scent was so intoxicating, so invigorating and intense. How could a nigen smell so good?

He saw her before she saw him. Her dark raven hair was mussed from sleeping; her unusual white dress rumpled and dirt-stained in some places.

“Woman.” Kagome jumped. “What exactly is it that you are doing?

“I…where am I?”

Sesshoumaru cocked a elegant eyebrow at her. “Do you truly not know where you are, woman?”

Kagome’s face filled with confusion. “Where’s Inuyasha?” When she stood and faced him, Sesshoumaru almost couldn’t tear his eyes from the strange outfit the girl was wearing, especially the places where it clung greedily to her slender frame.

Kagome wore a white dress, no longer than her school uniform, with thin spaghetti straps to hold the dress up. A small lavender ribbon was tied slightly under the bust, not only to accentuate her well sized breasts, but to pull the dress together so it wouldn’t be just a shapeless bag hanging from her body.

“Inuyasha?” Sesshoumaru asked, awakening from his stupor. Of course. She is Inuyasha’s wench; the one who dresses strangely. “I do not know where he is. Why are you here?”

Kagome’s eyes were beginning to water again, but she blinked back the onslaught of tears. “I don’t know!” she wailed. She was fighting a losing battle. “I don’t even know where I am!”

“You are in the Western Lands.”

Kagome looked startled. “How did I get here? We were battling Naraku, and…” The memory hit her like a truck. Her eyes got a far-away glaze as she remembered.

*~* “Kagome, watch out!” Kagome hardly had time to roll out of the way before a dark blast of glowing purple energy hit the rock where her head had been just seconds before. Quickly, she notched an arrow and flung it at Naraku, hitting him square in the chest. Naraku’s pointed teeth flashed at her in a triumphant smirk, and his body sucked the power from the miko energy engulfing the arrow, until there wasn’t even a wisp of Kagome’s power left.

“Miko,” Naraku said, flashing his teeth again. “It is a pity that you do not understand the full strength of the power that you hold.” A small ball of Kagome’s energy, corrupted and turned to a deep black, was forming in the palm of his hand. Kagome stared in awe, though the inside of her was panicking.

What's he doing? Oh no, he's going to kill us all with my energy!

Kagome found that she wasn't the only one that couldn't move. Inuyasha was frozen in mid swing of Tetsuiga. (A/N: I don't know if I spelled it right or not. If you're gonna review, please tell me if I did!) Sango held her boomerang in a tight grasp about to release it; Miroku was holding tight to his staff, about to take of the beads of his wind tunnel.

The ball got bigger and bigger, engulfing his whole arm, the whole upper half of his body, then his whole figure. It glowed and pulsed, almost like a heart beating, then was flung at Kagome. Instead of being engulfed by the darkness, she was pushed by it. She was immobile, her limbs numb and unmovable, and all she could do was watch as she was flung deep into the forest. She could feel her energy being drained from her body.

She heard a yelled “Bastard, what did you do to her?” then her eyes closed and she fell unconscious, still flying to an unknown destination.*~*

Kagome’s eyes were having trouble focusing in the dark.

Wait…the dark?

Kagome’s eyes snapped wide open, and she sat up. She felt something soft and plush beneath her, and she was definitely warm and comfortable.

But how did I get here?

She heard the sliding sound of a door opening and shutting, and the room was suddenly filled with light. A woman stood before her; she looked to be slightly younger than Kagome, with sky blue hair and such pale skin it was almost white. When she closed her pitch black eyes and bowed to Kagome, she could see light blue markings on her eyelids that looked to be eye shadow. The girl’s lips had a slight tinge of blue to them as well. But what stood out plainly, was the dark, navy-blue cross on her forehead.

“Milady,” the girl’s voice was like the tinkling of bells, soft and beautiful. “Lord Sesshoumaru sent me to explain to you what happened. He knows that you are curious.” At Kagome’s nod, the girl went on. “You were alone in a clearing, and he approached you. The two of you conversed. Then you…had a “Far away look in your eyes,” like you were having a “Flashback”. Then you fell into his arms, unconscious. He decided he could not just leave you there, so he brought you to his castle. You will be staying in a guest room, until he feels you are well enough to return to your shard hunting group. He also asked me to inform you that yes, Inuyasha is fine, but Naraku escaped with the shikon shards.”

Kagome had paled considerably at this news, but nodded dumbly. At least Inuyasha’s okay.
