InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Taken ❯ Breakfast with Sesshoumaru ( Chapter 2 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Golden eyes looked down at Kagome as she slept. Her cherry lips were parted slightly, and a soft moan passed between them as she tossed slightly to find a more comfortable position. "Inuyasha..."
Sesshoumaru stiffened at the name of his bastard half brother. Kagome's face got contorted, and a tear slipped out as she cried out again. "No, Inuyasha, please! No!" Her body was wracked in sobs, even in sleep.
Sesshoumaru looked down at her curiously, though his face didn't show it. Kagome let out one final sob and was silent. Her face stayed contorted and she still rolled around, but she stayed silent. When the morning came, Kagome's eyes flew open, feeling someone watching her.
Pitch black eyes stared down at her, but that was all they were. Black eyes, floating in mid-air. They were attached to no body, and Kagome could see out the window. She was surprised to see it was snowing.
"Lady Kagome," the voice came, and the body dissolved into sight. "Master Sesshoumaru wishes to know if you slept well."
Kagome's eyes lost their luster, and she nodded dully, detachedly. "The Lord also wishes to know if you would wish to eat break of fast with him and his associate, Rin." Kagome looked at the woman, eyebrows furrowed.
"I don't know. What would we eat?"
"For break of fast, you would eat...fruit." The woman said after a pause. Kagome's face filled with concentration, before nodding. "I guess I'll give it a try." After a long minute of silence, she added, "You know what, I don't know your name."
The girl's eerily black eyes stared blankly at Kagome. "My name?"
"Yeah, silly."
"No one calls me by my name."
"Then what do they call you?"
"Wench." The girl said, completely serious.
"And you think that's...your name?"
The girl smiled. "Of course. To them, it is my name."
But what is your real name?"
The girl glanced around uncertainly. "My name is...Yumi."
"Yumi? I like that."
Yumi bowed with her thanks. "Lady Kagome, I d not mean to be rude, but why do you wish to know my name?"
Kagome looked puzzled. "Everybody deserves to be called by their name." She murmured. "And please, call me Kagome."
Yumi stared at Kagome open-mouthed. "But I am but a servant."
Kagome raised an eyebrow. "What's your point?"

When Kagome seated herself at the table Yumi had directed her to, she was alone.
"Lord Sesshoumaru and Rin should be here shortly." Yumi reassured Kagome as she stepped out of the room and closed the double doors behind her.
Nervously, Kagome folded her hands in her lap, twiddling her thumbs as she looked around the room. She was about to have breakfast with Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha's half-brother. The one who was always trying to kill Inuyasha, trying to steal Tetsuiga. It was a wonder why he was never trying to steal the shikon shards. There was no doubt that he could. He was muscular and powerful, probably more powerful than Kagome could comprehend.
Maybe he just doesn't need the shards.
Kagome had wandered so far into thought that Sesshoumaru came in without her noticing and watched as the emotions ran across her face and into her eyes, mixing together in a whirling, dark, unreadable storm. First, there was confusion, then fear, anger contemplation, lust, confusion...LUST?
Sesshoumaru cleared his throat and Kagome jumped. Sesshoumaru smirked inside, but on the outside, his stoic expression remained. Kagome stared at him, wide-eyed as he seated himself across from her and his intense gaze burned into her very soul.
In ran Rin, laughing. She sat at her spot and began shoveling food into her mouth like it was a vacuum, but Kagome just sat there like a dear frozen in the headlights of a semi as Sesshoumaru's eyes continued to burn holes into her. Rin finished and was eying Kagome's food pigishly, when Sesshoumaru again cleared his throat. Kagome turned a heated red and looked down at her food, slowly pushing it across her plate and making it look like she had eaten it.
"Do not think that pushing your food around will make it look like you've eaten. You haven't taken a single bite. It isn't poisoned. Eat." Sesshoumaru commanded. Kagome bowed her head and cautiously placed a grape at her lips. "Eat." Sesshoumaru repeated. Warily, Kagome pushed the grape into her mouth and chewed. Sweet juices filled her mouth, both warm and cold at the same time, with a slight sour tangy taste left behind when she swallowed it. Choosing another grape, large and firm, she pushed it into her mouth and closed her eyes at the wonderful flavor that attacked her taste buds.
Rin stared at Kagome in awe as she shoveled down all of her fruit so quickly that you could hardly see her hands move. Sesshoumaru watched in amusement, though it didn't show.
When Kagome finished, she looked up, a slight pink blush spreading across her cheeks.
Rin saved her from further embarrassment by grinning at her, then excitedly turning to Sesshoumaru to explain to him about one of the 'most beautifullest flowers' she had ever seen, and Kagome took her cue and escaped.
The only trouble was when she left the dining room, she didn't remember the way to her room. She went up a long stairwell that was much longer than she remembered it being, went through many twists and turns, and ended in a dead end hall with no rooms or windows. She was panting and sweating profusely, and didn't look forward to the trip back. That was when she finally realized she was lost and didn't remember where to go.
With a nervous giggle, she started screaming at the top of her lungs.
