InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Tale of the Stars ❯ Prologue II ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Want to know what my life is like?
Day in and day out I’m the one everyone comes to when they have a problem. It doesn’t matter if I’m in the bath house, in my study, or even sleeping; at the first hint of a touchy subject I’m the person they bother. Then come all the important people that I have to make nice with so my lands aren’t seized. They don’t happen to like me very much. Maybe it’s the way I came into power, or my genealogy, what I am, or who I am.
That is why I had to get away. At first, I only snuck away at night once a moon. Now I go whenever I want. I make sure that no one notices if I’m gone. I go into the forest to relax.
I always feel free while I’m there; at peace. The world is so easy to get caught up in; the scents, the sounds. The best part has to be that there’s no one there to bother me. Sometimes I even go into the surrounding villages to try and blend in. Tonight is one of the nights that I think of my mother. The stars are out and it reminds me of one of her stories. The Tale of the Stars. It’s almost like I can feel her and my father’s warmth. The soft tones of her voice.
“Once, there was a very strong, very handsome lord, and on a night like this one, his whole life changed…”
