Chapter Seventeen
xXx
"Who are you?!" Kagome asked, dropping the bloodied youkai.
"I am Taiga, the ice youkai." She looked almost like her sister but she had blue eyes and hair and her cloak was blue as well.
"You must be another one of Naraku's incarnations?"
"Very perceptive of you, miko," Taiga spat. "Too bad you must die."
"I'm going to die?!" Kagome smirked and threw a purple energy ball at her. Though, an ice shield Taiga put around her self easily blocked it.
"My sister an I are a lot more powerful than you believe, miko," the ice youkai smirked, but quickly frowned. "I don't know how you defeated her so easily," she looked briefly at Terra. At that, Kagome threw a wave of energy at her, Taiga countered with her own ice daggers. None of the attacks hit there intended targets, though, and collided with a giant explosion. "Weak, that's what you are."
"Weak, you say?!" Kagome's eyes now became the blackest of blacks, her aura changed from white to violet than to black. "I will kill you, every last one of you!" She exploded with energy, making everyone and everything but Taiga fly back, than all was quiet until a cracking sound was heard. Kagome's ring broke, and gasps were heard all around, for they knew what was to come. Her eyes changed, again, from black to crimson red, her fangs and claws grew in size.
"Kagome!" Sango finally found her voice. "Stop this!" But Kagome was no longer Kagome. The said miko went after Taiga faster than anyone has ever seen. Kagome would have succeeded in severing her head, if the ice youkai had barely dodged in the last second.
"You are no longer your self, I see," the ice youkai smirked and drew out a sword of ice. "In this state, it would be most easy to kill you. But, I have no orders to do so." She thrust the sword at the inu miko, slightly slashing her across the stomach. Ignoring her wound, Kagome wrapped her clawed hand around Taiga's neck. The ice youkai tried to struggle, but than stopped when she saw the half a jewel around the miko's neck. With her free hand, Taiga tore the necklace off while kicking Kagome forcefully in the chest, sending her back.
"My master will by most pleased with this," the ice youkai said while holding the jewel. Though, Kagome could have cared less with the state of mind she was in. "Now, I think we'll take our leave," she said and made her way over to Terra with Kagome watching her. As soon as she was at Terra's side, Kagome attacked but they weren't there. Everyone looked up to see them both floating on a thick block of ice. "Until next time, miko." With that, they both left.
"Kagome-sama?" Kari spoke, knowing all to well what was going through the inu miko's head. With a sharp turn, Kagome looked at her with eyes still red. In one quick movement, the young hanyou was on the ground with clawed hands around her neck. Kari struggled, but with no anvil.
"Okaasan?!" Shippou yelled, though it fell on deaf ears. Kagome just continued to strangle Kari, who's face started to turn a pail shade of blue. Sango threw her giant boomerang, making it fly over the miko and land next to her. The only thing that succeeded in was making Kagome loosen her grip to look at the human.
"Stop this, Kagome!" she yelled to the berserk youkai. Again, she heard nothing. The only thing the inu miko could comprehend was blood. To see more, to feel more, and to taste more blood.
"You will all die!" Kagome laughed demonically and looked back at her potential niece, enjoying the feeling of her soft flesh beneath her hands. With their surprise and fear, they didn't notice the wind pick up or the small tornado coming their way.
"Koga?!" Shippou said when the wolf stopped between them and Kagome.
"I'm going to ask this once, and only once," he started quickly, looking at Kagome and Kari. "What the HELL is going on!?"
"It seems Kagome-sama has turned into a full youkai. She did so when fighting two of Naraku's elemental youkai. They escaped, and when Kari-sama tried to calm her down she attacked her. That's what you see now," Miroku said, almost al in one breathes.
"And you didn't do anything?!" he said angrily, still not looking away from the two. "Never mind that," he sighed.
"Oi, wench?" Koga yelled to Kari. "I will get her off, and you knock her out," he finished and quickly after her. Without her noticing, Koga grabbed her from under the arms and dragged her away from the young hanyou. Who kicked her forcefully in the stomach, rendering her unconscious. Kari sat up gasping for precious air, as if it wouldn't come fast enough. As everyone ran over to Kagome, Koga just stood and watched Kari cough, undecidedly.
"Kagome, wake up," Sango said, slapping her face, which effectively woke her up.
"Sango?" Kagome sat up, holding her head. "What happened?" As soon as she said that, though, everything that had happened since Inuyasha had left came back to her. She looked up sharply to see the faces of her companions, concern mixed with fear. They were afraid, afraid of her and what she had become. She her self was afraid of what she had become.
"Okaasan," Shippou said and went to touch her. Kagome quickly flinched away.
"I have to leave," she said quietly.
"What are you talking about?!" Kari asked, walking passed Koga and rubbing her bruised neck.
"Oh Kari, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean-"
"Don't worry about it," she half-heartedly smiled. "I know exactly how it feels to change in to a full youkai."
"That's still no excuse," Kagome said, though still backing away from them.
"Um... where's Inuyasha-sama?" Vilna finally spoke.
"Inuyasha left," Kagome said sadly.
"Again?!" Shippou whined.
"Yes, but this time, he's not coming back."
"Why not?" Kari asked.
"He's ... he's just not," she said, not wanting to tell them what had happened to her. "And I'm leaving as well."
"Come again?" Sango asked. "What about Naraku and the jewel shards?"
"I will still fight Naraku and complete the shekon no tama. I will just do it alone. I don't want to fight anyone again if I turn into a full youkai."
"But okaasan?" Shippou jumped on her. "I don't want you to leave," the kit was practically in tears.
"Oh Shippou-chan, don't worry," she started with a sad smile. "I'll see you again, but I have to go by my self."
"You're right, Kagome-sama," Miroku said and walked up to them.
"Miroku?" Sango asked surprised.
"I'm leaving as well," he said. "My wind tunnel is at the point where it might suck everyone and everything in it."
"You're not going anywhere without me," Sango said stubbornly.
"Sango, Miroku, not you too?" Shippou said, jumping down from Kagome.
"The journey may be different, but the destination will be the same," the monk said as Kagome started waling off. Her pure white hair contrasting her blood red cloths.
"Right." Sango said, taking her example and started walking in a different direction then her friend. Miroku said his good byes, and fallowed after her.
"Well," Kari started, looking dumb founded. She looked at the two kit's. "It looks like it's just us then."
"Yeah, I guess so," Vilna said blankly.
"Well then, let's go," Koga said, surprising the three of them.
"Excuse me? Did you just say 'let's', as in all of us?" she asked sarcastically. The wolf youkai only smirked.
"I can't just leave three children alone, now can I?" his smirk only got wider at the look she was giving him.
"Children?!"
"What about your own pack?" Shippou asked, trying to prevent a fight between the two.
"They'll be fine. Besides, I need to stop babying them," he said arrogantly.
"Hin," the hanyou huffed and started walking, but stopped when no one fallowed. "Are you coming, or are you going to stay here all day?!" she asked with her arms folded.
"We're coming," Koga said and fallowed her, still trying to understand why he wanted to go with her in the first place.

"Why?" Inuyasha said to himself. He was lying on the bare ground, watching the stars in the moonless night, with no protection but his mere human strength at his disposal. He didn't care though, it didn't matter if he dyed or not. No one would care anyway, he thought.
"Why?" he repeated, he had been saying that for hours upon hours. He loved Kagome and he wouldn't deny it any longer. He wanted her, he wanted her to be his and only his, on one else's. He would do anything to get her back, even if it meant loosing his sanity. He was jealous at first, and then angry, now he was just depressed. Some of his senses were coming back to him, though.
"Why did she do that?" He tried to find answers from the stars, as if they would get rid of all his problems. Inuyasha knew that there had to be a reason why she did what she did. A thought came to him. What if Kagome did nothing? What if Terra did it purposely to get at them? But... then why did she have a mark on her? It didn't make sense. He was confused and didn't know what to do. He didn't know what else he wanted. He didn't care about anything else. He didn't care about the jewel shards or about becoming a full youkai. At that moment he didn't even care about Kikyo taking him to Hell or killing Naraku.
A couple of birds started chirping, interrupting his thoughts, which signaled dawn coming. Sure enough, the stars were starting to disappear one by one. Even after his normal hanyou features came back, he was still lying on the ground. That is, until Kikyou came up to him.
"We're leaving," she said blankly, and started walking away.
"Keh," was all he said and got up to fallow the undead miko. His train of thought never strayed off Kagome.

Kagome looked up at the moonless night from her perch in a tree. She was still a hanyou, which meant that her time was not during the new moon like Inuyasha's. It made sense, seeing that she became a hanyou on the full moon. She was thinking about Inuyasha and his night of "weakness". She wondered if he was all right and how angry he was with her. She thought about her other friends and what they were doing and if they hated her.
Miroku was right, they may be going their own separate ways, but they all had the same destination in mind. The inevitable war was coming she could feel it. Kagome knew it wouldn't be easy, but with Kagura, Sesshomaru, Koga and his remaining clan, the Queen of the inu youkai and her people on their side, perhaps could even out the chances somewhat. Naraku had thousands of mindless youkai you under him that would listen to his every whim, whether it be suicide or not.
"This sucks," Kagome said to her self and rested her head against the tree. All that thinking was giving her a headache. It also could have been the fact that Inuyasha's blood wasn't registering too well with the new moon. His youkai blood was never meant to surface on the new moon night. But, here it was, in Kagome and very active, which made her anxious about something.
Before she could even think about something else, she felt an aura she'd hoped she would never have to feel again. Fear was over whelming her as the shekon jewel shard came closer. She was contemplating if she should run or not, but instead, she jumped from the tree to wait. This wasn't a problem that wasn't going to go away by running. She had to face this problem and attempt to move on. It had been a little over a month since it happened. Naraku hadn't interfered with her dreams again, but she thought about it every moment.
"Hello miko," a hollow voice said and the youkai stopped in front of her.
"Yuko," Kagome said with utmost distaste.
"I sssee that you are alone," the snake said.
"How dear you come near me after what you have done!" Kagome said, bringing up her staff. Ever since she became a hanyou, surprisingly enough, her miko powers were stronger, so she wouldn't be caught off guard again.
"I came here," he bowed his head, "to give you my life asss atonement for my sssinss." He said and slithered closer to the inu miko with his neck exposed. Which Kagome gladly took, but didn't apply pressure. She just forced him to look at her.
"Do you have any idea what you have done?!" she yelled. Tears were welling up in her eyes but didn't fall. "I should kill you for all you have done," she said, but not as threatening as she wanted. "I hate you!" she yelled and tried to tighten her hold on his scaly neck, but couldn't. It was as if her mind wanted to kill him, but her body didn't. Lately, it seemed, her body wanted to do things her mind didn't.
"I know I have causssed you great pain, along everyone elssse. I will not asssk for you forgivenesss, not from Sshippou-chan, Vilna-chan, Mai, or anyone elssse for that matter. I just wisssh my life to be taken for retribution to the one I ssstole from you," he said.
"Quiet!" she yelled, a single tear fell from both her odd colored eyes. "Just shut the hell up!" she yelled and threw him to the ground. He waited for her to kill him, but she told him to stand up. "You honestly believe that your death will bring the atonement you seek?!" Kagome asked critically. When the snake youkai didn't reply, she continued. "Your death will not do anything to reverse what you have done. I will never be a full human again, the other people you have killed will not magically come back to life!"
"With my life, I will know that their deathsss will be avenged."
"Avenging someone's death will do nothing to bring them back. If you want to atone, then you must live to help the living and not satisfy the dead," she finished. She had no idea where this new concept of death came from. She had never thought about death like that. Perhaps with Inuyasha's blood, came some of his emotions.
"What are you sssaying?" Yuko asked the miko.
"You will fight to help the living," Kagome's face straitened. "You will seek atonement in the war with Naraku and the youkai. You will live the rest of your life helping people and stop needlessly killing. You will no longer kill human females for jobs," she said and he looked at her intently. "Do you understand me?!"
"Yesss," he said and bowed his head. "Thank you miko."
"I will have some one send for you when the time comes," Kagome said and turned to watch the sun rise, but than looked back at the snake youkai as if remembering something. "Also, I'll be taking the jewel shard back," she said blankly.
"Yesss," he said and dug his clawed hand in to his forearm and took out the glowing the shard. She took it and he bowed again before leaving. Kagome put the shekon shard in a pouch. Then she froze, it was gone. She must have forgotten that Taiga took it. This meant, if she did her math correctly, Naraku had the whole jewel minus three. The one she had and the two of Koga's. That's when it finally hit her, there was a war brewing and she was practically in the center of it. If one thought about it hard, they would see that it was her fault to begin with. She was the one to fall in the well, she was the one who brought the jewel back to this era, and she was the one who broke it in the first place. She looked at the dime-sized shard. It was her fault, but no one blamed her for it. Kagome sighed and tied the pouch with the jewel shard in it to her waist. She walked along the forest path, with the sun to the right of her.

Naraku started pacing in front of the four of his seven incarnations left. Which, ironically, were all female. Taiga stood next to Terra, who was lying down with bandages wrapped around her, but she was still conscious. Kagura had her spiteful scowl on. She was next to Kana, who was holding her mirror with her ever-emotionless face.
"With little set backs," he looked at Terra, "My plan is coming out perfectly. Inuyasha and the inu miko are now separated, I have all but three shards of the shekon jewel," the evil youkai smirked menacingly. "Now it is time to put the final plan into play," he said, and with the flick of his wrist a rock slate appeared out of nowhere. On it was ancient writing. It read:
-xXx

The scarlet clouds will cry
and Tears of blood shall fall from the heavens,
covering the earth with crimson seas.
The red sky will rule the world,
an evil tyrant in its wake.
From the shadows,
a black widow will be born.

-xXx
"All those who are inferior will perish." The only one who mirrored his evil smirk was Taiga. It was time for an ancient prophecy to come true.

It read:

The scarlet clouds will cry
and Tears of blood shall fall from the heavens,
covering the earth with crimson seas.
The red sky will rule the world,
an evil tyrant in its wake.
From the shadows,
a black widow will be born.

"All those who are inferior will perish." The only one who mirrored his evil smirk was Taiga. It was time for an ancient prophecy to come true.
