Ch 10 Explanations and Fathers Will

As dawn approached the sleeping world, Shippou uncurled himself and stretched out. Remembering what Inuyasha had asked him to do; he headed to where his adoptive parents were at. He knocked on the door and waited. When no answer came, he slowly opened the door and walked in.

"Inuyasha, are you a wake?" Shippou tentively asked. Inuyasha's ear swiveled around and focused on Shippous direction.

"I am now. What is it?" Inuyasha unspooned himself from Kagome and rolled on to his back. Shippou walked over to his side of the bed.

"You wanted me to come and remind you in the morning to go back and get the cart of pelts." Shippou whispered loud enough to only reach Inuyasha's ears. Rubbing the last of sleep out of his golden eyes, Inuyasha carefully sat up as to not wake up Kagome.

"Your right Shippou Thanks. Wait for me outside ok so that I can get dressed."

"Hai. Does this mean I can come with you?" Questioned Shippou.

"That it does pup. While I get the cart, you will be practicing your hunting skills. Now go on." When Shippou closed the door, Inuyasha gently got out of bed and got dressed. He wanted to get there and back as fast a possible before Kagome awoke.

When everything was on and tied into place, Inuyasha picked up the Tensusaiga and walked out of the room, quietly closing the door. He took a deep breath in and released it. It sure felt good to be back to normal. Except for the one thing that Inuyasha's nose picked up on. The scent of his brother.

Inuyasha leaned up against the door frame for a moment to think.

`Why the hell is he, of all people, here? Why can't he just leave use alone? Well…..might as well go find out. I have to admit though……I am curious as to what could have happened to make him act the way he has been.'

It was still too early for everyone else to wake up. Silently making his way down to the end of the hall, he stopped.

"Good morning Inuyasha. I trust you and your mate slept well." Sesshoumaru's voice held quite a bit of humor that went totally against all odds for him. He smirked when he saw a deep blush creep across Inuyasha's cheeks.

"Damn you Sesshoumaru. It's your fault you upset her. My mate needed me. Now, give me a reason why I shouldn't rip you a part right now." Inuyasha spoke in a low tone as to not disturb Miroku and Sango. He was flexing his claws, just itching to tear into Sesshoumaru.

"Inuyasha…..I think it would be wise to listen to what Sesshoumaru has to say. After all, we talked with him while you were tending Kagome." Miroku calmly stated as he sat up in his bed.

"Yeah Inuyasha. *yawn* This is very important…….*yawn*……so you better… *yawn* listen to him….." Said a sleepy Sango. She knew what was coming next and pulled her covers up and over her head.

"NANI!?! Are you two crazy!!! There's no way in hell I'm going to listen to anything that he has to say." By this time……. everyone that had been previously a sleep, were now rudely awoken by Inuyasha's rather loud exclamation. Including Kagome.

Feeling better this morning, she got up and went in search of some cloths to wear to go find out why Inuyasha was yelling so early in the morning, then she can get back to bed. She was still feeling tired and drained after yesterday's events. Dressing in some fresh cloths from her pack, she stumbled her way to the door and down the hall.

"Mou, Inuyasha. What the hell is you're….." Kagome froze on the spot at seeing `him' again. Kagome's eyes went very wide and she started shaking uncontrollably. Inuyasha knew what was going to come from her mouth. He turned back to Sesshoumaru to watch him go down. But, Sesshoumaru had already sensed what was to come and in a blink of an eye, was behind Kagome with his left arm around her waist and his right hand firmly, but gently clamped onto her mouth to prevent that humiliating word escaping it. Kagome's face drained of all color. She turned her frightened eyes to Inuyasha, silently pleading for him to do something, anything.

"GET YOUR FUCKING HAND OFF HER NOW!!!!" Inuyasha roared out, lunging at the same time. Unfortunately for Inuyasha, Miroku was ready for him. He brought down his staff on to Inuyasha's head. Strong force was needed in order to knock him out, and Miroku felt bad that he had to do this, but there was no choice in stopping the enraged hanyou. Miroku made his way to his friend to make sure he was still breathing. When he was sure, he turned to leave.

"I'll go and get a cool rag for his head. Kagome……if Inuyasha awakens and starts again, you need to `sit' him." Mirkou made sure he had eye contact with Kagome when he told her this.

"You big jerk……when are ya going to control your temper?" Shippou said as he transformed into his pink balloon thing and munched his left ear. Sesshoumaru bent his head down to Kagome's ear. His voice was cool, calm and collective as he spoke.

"Do you remember what I had told you in the forest before battling that wimpy wolf?"

Silence.

Kagome was to terrified to move, and was barley able to think enough to breath, let alone try and remember what was talked about during their first encounter. Smelling the fear scent increasing in his `little sister' as it was, Sesshoumaru frowned, but continued on.

"I made a promise to you and your whole group. And I always keep my word. Kagome….I am going to let you go now…….And I am asking you not to use that command word on me. Can you remain calm enough so that we can talk?"

Kagome still didn't know what to do. This was their greatest enemy next to Naraku. She turned her eyes to Sango, who was sitting up in her bed, silently pleading with her to help.

"Kagome……I know this is so very hard for you right now…….Do you trust me?" Sango asked quietly. Kagome slowly nodded her head.

"Then please……trust me on this. Sesshoumaru is not the same. You and Inuyasha need to hear him out ok."

A few moments passed as Kagome seemed to be thinking things through. Finally, Kagome nodded her head again. Sesshoumaru withdrew his hand, but didn't move from behind her.

"I trust you with my life Sango. Always. Never forget that……Fine Sesshoumaru. You have my attention. You can let me go, now. And don't worry about Inuyasha, I'll make sure he behaves……but……any fighting that happens here, and I won't hesitate to `stay' you 6 feet under. Got it!" Kagome gave him a poke in his chest to emphasize her point to him. Sesshoumaru just gave her a `feh' and released her.

Kagome went straight over to Inuyasha and knelt down next to him. Miroku had the rag on his forehead.

"I am sorry for hitting him like I did Kagome, but it was the only way."

"I understand Miroku. It's ok." Kagome said while rubbing the ear that Shippou had munched on.

When Inuyasha finally came around, he wanted so very much to rip a part the Monk for knocking him out like that, but, when he got that familiar glare from Kagome, he sat Indian style and grumbled some choice words about the Monk before pulling Kagome into his lap.

"Shippou," Inuyasha called out. The little fox cub walked back inside and stood in front of Inuyasha and Kagome.

"The next time you much on my sensitive ears again, you will be disciplined. Understand." Inuyasha made sure he had eye contact with Shippou's blue eyes when he spoke. Shippou gulped and nodded his head that he understood his adopted Papa.

"Good. Now listen to me ok. You need to go back to where we were at and get the cart. Take them to Lynx and tell him to prepare the pelts for me. Tell him I'll pick them up in a week ok." Inuyasha was just barely able to whisper this to Shippou's ears only, before Kagome caught on to him being so hushed.

"Inuyasha…… What are you two whispering about?" Kagome questioned.

"Nothing for you to worry about, right Shippou." Said Inuyasha, winking at the fox cub.

"Hai……I need all the practice I can get to properly hunt. So I'll be going now……bye." Shippou said as he winked back to Inuyasha. He transformed into his pink bubble thingy and floated away.

"Ohhh, that's good to hear." Kagome said. "I am very happy to see that you are helping him learn how to hunt Inu-chan."

Inuyasha then frowned. Kissing Kagome's temple and hugging her closer to him, he looked to his older brother. A low growl started to rise in his chest. He didn't like the way Sesshoumaru was looking at them. Kagome sensed Inuyasha's uneasiness and nuzzled his neck.

"Inuyasha, I know this is just as hard on you as it is on me. But if you trust in our friends when they say it is alright, then we need to listen to what your brother has to say. Obviously this is important to him or he wouldn't be acting this way." Kagome whispered. Inuyasha was hesitant for a bit as he thought it over, then nodded his head to her. He then turned his head to look at Sesshoumaru.

"All right Sesshoumaru. This had better be worth all the stress you had put on Kagome with your mere presence in being here. And as I had said before and I will say again, I am only doing this because I trust in what my mate and friends say to me. Until I am shown other wise, I will not trust you."

"I, Sesshoumaru, do not blame you for your distrust, little brother. I know I have not been what a brother should have been towards you. But there is a reason for it, though.

And I only hope that by the end of our conversation, you will have changed your mind about me."

Sesshoumaru stood up in his place. He placed his hand on to the hilt of his sword.

"But first, there is something that must be completed. As you all know, when a demon has chosen a mate, the male marks the female." Sesshoumaru started to say. Inuyasha just snorted.

"Yeah……so what. I've already done that."

"Yes, I do know that. But…….in about sixty years or so, Kagome will die." Inuyasha frowned at this. Yes, that's the down part about being mated to a mortal. But with Kagome, it's worth every minuet. And when the time comes when she does die, he will gladly follow her to the grave.

"Yes Inuyasha. I know that look on your face. You will no doubt follow her to the grave, will you not?" Inuyasha was a little shocked that Sesshoumaru said that. Was he able to read minds or something? Inuyasha then looked to Kagome and kissed her again.

"Yes. Kagome means that much to me. Living a life with out her is not worth living at all. She is my heart, my soul……my home." He said with a small smile.

"I see. Inuyasha please stand and bare me your hand." Sesshoumaru stated. Inuyasha looked at him wryly for a moment. When Kagome motioned to him to do what was asked, he did, but still held Kagome close to him when he rose up. Slowly he held out his hand. Pausing for a brief second, Sesshoumaru then drew out his sword and as quick as lightening, slashed open Inuyasha's right hand.

"YOU BASTERED!!! What the hell did you do that for??" Inuyasha bellowed, as he looked down at the gushing cut on his hand. Sango, who had all ready been told what was to come, handed Inuyasha a dry rag.

"I am sorry Inuyasha, but it is necessary I assure you. Kagome…….being that you are human; you must draw your own blood on your own free-will. I can not take it as I did with Inuyasha. If you chose to do this, it must be your right hand." Sesshoumaru then pointed the blade of his sword to her. She was hesitant to do it, but got over it quickly. Something deep inside of her was telling her it was ok and to do it. She was never one to question what her instincts tell her.

Wrapping her right hand around the blade she squeezed until she felt her skin split open and the blood seeped out between her fingers. She then with drew her hand. And before either of them knew what was happening, Sesshoumaur grabbed both of their wrists and slapped their hands together.

A bright radiant light filled the room and everyone had to shield their eyes from it in order to not be blinded by it. As quickly as it came, the light was gone.

"It is done." Sesshoumaru said with a smile as he let go of their writs.

"What the fuck was that Sesshoumaru?" Inuyasha growled out through gritted teeth.

"Tend to your mates hand, and then I will explain all." Sesshoumaru then cleaned his sword with a rag he took out from some where in his clothing and cleaned it. Putting the Tensagia back into its sheath, Sesshoumaru sat back down.

Inuyasha was near snarling as he went through Kaede's medical cabinet and brought out an herb salve and wrapped Kagomes hand as gently his he could. When he had completed this, he sat back done with Kagome in his lap.

"Explain now." Inuyasha growled.

"Very well. As you know, Kagome would have died and you would have still lived for a few more centuries. The only other way to have fixed that was if Kagome had turned into a hanyou herself by drinking some of her mate's blood. I doubt that Kagome would want to become hanyou. But…….there is a way that that action can be avoided. Unfortunately, I do not know why Father chose not to use the technique on your mother Inuyasha, but all I do know is that I have been instructed to make sure that you two were to have it done."

"What the hell are you talking about? And who instructed you to go and slash open my hand like that? What was the purpose for anyway?" Inuyasha's temper was starting to get the best of him. He was losing patients fast because answers weren't coming fast enough for him.

"Inuyasha, if you stop interrupting him, I'm sure he'll finish explaining." Kagome said as she gave him a kiss to his cheek. He looked down onto Kagome.

"Feh." Was Inuyasha's only reply.

"Thank you Kagome. As I was saying….the technique is called a "Bloodbond." It is one of the techniques of Tensaiga. Kagome is now bonded with you Inuyasha. Just as Rin is now bonded to me, as my mate when she became of age.

Kagome will not die as a normal mortal now, but she will age as you do. And as for `who' instructed me to do this, it is simple. It was Father." Sesshoumaru then reached inside of his clothing and pulled out a tied piece of parchment. Kagome could tell that it was very old indeed. How old though, would probably never be known.

"This, Inuyasha, is Fathers last will and testament." Sesshoumaru then untied the parchment and read it aloud:

"I, Inutaisho, do leave my last will and testament unto my two sons, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. I leave only two possessions for my sons: The Tensaiga for Sesshoumaru and Tetsusaiga for Inuyasha.

Sesshoumaru, I have taught you well with all the knowledge that I posses. If I, for whatever reason am killed, it is your duty to send Inuyasha and his mother away to the safety house I built for them. Tell her that I love them and I want them to be safe. It is also your duty to watch over and protect Inuyasha when his mother eventually dies. He is the chosen Demon Lord to reign after me. You are to teach him all that I have taught unto you. Until Inuyasha is ready, you, Sesshoumaru are to reign as Demon Lord over the Western Lands. Then, when the time is right, you will be General over the royal Army as you so wish it.

My son, do not hate your brother for what he is. Know that I loved you two equally. No more, no less. Never forget the oath you made to me Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha, my son, for whatever reason I am not there to watch you grow and become a man, know that my planned actions were made out of love for you. As I have stated already, Sesshoumaru is to be Demon Lord over the Western Lands until you are ready. Your brother and I talked a lot in detail about how you were to take over as the new Demon Lord, and this is how it is to be: through out your life, he is to teach you every thing that I have taught to him. He will be very hard on you, my son, as I was on him, but also more so because he is not too keen on the fact that I mated with a mortal instead of another demon when his mother died. He has some resentment about a half-breed assuming the throne instead of a full demon. The interesting part is that Sesshoumaru does not wish that position. He only wishes to be General over the Army. But I made him swear an oath to respect my wishes no matter what. Now, as he watches over you and teaches you, he is to perform the `Bloodbond' to you and your chosen mate with Tensaiga, whether the female is of demon blood or mortal. It is then, that Sesshoumaru is to bring you and your chosen mate back to the Western Lands were you are to reign as the Demon Lord and Sesshoumaru is to be General over the Army.

It is my dream that this is to be accomplished. Remember my sons, I loved you no more, no less. Work hard together to protect our lands as I have done so for all those centuries. Know also that I am always with you in spirit my sons."

Sesshoumaru then leaned over and handed the parchment to Inuyasha to look over when he had finished reading it. Inuyasha noticed that the parchment was sighed by his father as well as two witnesses; Myouga the flea and Jakens the toad……their retainers!?! Inuyasha's left eye brow started a dangerous tic.

`Why the hell didn't Myouga say anything to me about this? Why?? Maybe my life would have been different. Had I known, I wouldn't have tried to steal the Shikon no Tama, and then Kikyou wouldn't have had to pin me to that damn tree for 50 years……'

Some how Sesshoumaru knew what Inuyasha was thinking and he drew in a deep breath.

"Inuyasha……what I am about to say, I must implore that you remain silent until I am finished." Inuyasha was still fuming about his retainer, but with the help from Kagome's hand on his right ear, he was slowly letting it go.

"It's all right Sesshoumaru. Isn't that right Inuyasha?" Kagome looked at her mate and Inuyasha closed his eyes as he concentrated on the feelings he was getting from Kagome's fingers on his ear.

"That's my good puppy. Sesshoumaru, please continuo." Kagome giggled.

"Our father made our retainers swear a secrecy oath. Half of your training was to experience life on your own, make your own decisions, and there for, any consequences there after. I looked in on you from time to time. And I must say, it was hard for me to except what had happened to you with what Kikyou did. I did not like her at all for what she did, but then again, you did bring it onto yourself. I never once thought I would ever see you live again. But then one day I heard a rumor that some strangely dress girl with miko abilities had released a hanyou that was pinned to a tree. My curiosity grew as I wondered if it was you that they spoke of. So I traveled from our Fathers lands to investigate it myself. Three days later, I came to the Go-Shinboku, and there was no sign of you, except the tell tale signs of a battle with Mistress Centipede. I was greatly relieved when I then knew that you lived again. It was then that I knew it was time for the most difficult part of your training. So I ensued the part of the `evil brother' as it were, and made you believe that I wanted to posses Father's Fang. It was during our `encounters' that I was able to fully observe you, and teach you the art of fighting. For it is the Demon Lords responsibility to fight for and protect his lands. During our three years of battling, I watched as you grew stronger each day. I still checked in on you once in a while, and I was extremely happy when I noticed you had a very strong liking towards Kagome in the beginning. And at the same time, for a whole week, I couldn't stop laughing when Kaede threw that rosary onto you." Sesshoumaru chuckled a little at the memory in his minds eye of the look on Inuyasha's face at the time just before he went down.

After a few moments, Seeshoumaru stopped. He took in a deep breath and released it. Taking a sip from his cup of sake, he continued on.

"I am sorry if our `encounters' seemed horrific. Never once did I honestly wish you dead. That was just my way of pushing you harder as was done when Father trained me. It was the only way you see. It was and still is my duty to make sure you are strong enough to reign over the Western Lands Inuyasha. We will still have our `training battles' until I am fully convinced that you are ready. But we will not start that until we have returned to the palace. I wish to stay here a few days before traveling back home. Which reminds me. Kagome, Rin was very pleased when I told her that you had become Inuyasha's mate. She wishes to know if you would be the mid-wife when she is about to birth our first pup." Sesshoumaru looked directly at Kagome when he spoke that last sentence.

Kagome knew the basics of child birth as it was just from school. But it wasn't until Kaede had taken her along on a few live births around the village that her knowledge grew more.

"Of course I will. She's like a little sister to me. And I will always try and be there for her no matter what. That's if it's ok with you Inuyasha." She looked up at him as he looked down at her. He would do anything to keep Kagome happy. So, after a while of pondering over everything that has been said up to now, Inuyasha nodded his head to her. Then looked over to his brother.

"Sesshoumaru…….if it weren't for this piece of parchment that still holds Fathers scent, I would not have believed you at all. The only thing I have ever wanted in my whole life since Mother died, was to belong some where. And I have with Kagome. If its Fathers wish for me to reign as Demon Lord, then I am not one to disagree with him. Though, I don't know how." Inuyasha said as he shook his head.

"That is not a problem Inuyasha. Father told me to not only train you for battling and such, but also to train you with what I was trained with so that you can rule properly when it comes to the politics over our lands."

Inuyasha looked from Sesshoumaru to Kagome, and then to Miroku, Sango and Shippou. But before Inuyasha uttered a word, Sesshoumaru spoke. It was like he had the ability to read minds, because it shocked Inuyasha when he heard Sesshoumaru talking again.

"Inuyasha. You need not worry about that. They are you pack. Your family. They will not be left behind. Now, am I correct in saying that your search is not over yet for the shards of the sacred Shikon no Tama?" Inuyasha nodded his head as did everyone else. Sesshoumaru watched as Kagome fingered the one half of the jewel and smiled.

"Then you will be pleased to know that your search will soon be over and that the jewel will become whole once again."

Utter silence reigned over all of them. After a while, Kagome seemed to be the only one of the group that was able to pick up her mouth enough to speak.

"How……how do y-you know t-that f-for sure?" Kagome asked in a shaky voice.

"I have resources that have informed me that all other pieces have all ready been collected by one demon." Inuyasha growled rather loudly at what he had just heard.

"It's Naraku isn't Sesshoumaru." Kagome meekly asked. Sesshoumaru then frowned a bit.

"Hai Kagome. And from what I have already been told, he is already planning an attack for the other half that you are carrying right now. Which is why in three days, we are to leave this village for the Western Lands Inuyasha. For if we don't, then it is most likely that when he does strike, he will destroy everything here for it. At least on our own land we may stand a chance. Now, enough talk for now. Inuyasha, come with me to hunt. Your mate is hungry. As well as everyone else." Sesshoumaru then stood up and left the hut.

Kagome looked from where Sesshoumaru was sitting, to Inuyasha. She was having a hard time as well in trying to swallow in everything that Sesshoumaru had said, and from the look on Inuyasha's face, he was too.

Smiling a dazzling smile, Kagome reached up to stroke his left ear.

"Inuyasha," Kagome whispered out for his ears only. He looked down at her and he smiled back. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I love you so much. And I am very proud of you in how you are taking all of this in. Know that I am always behind you no matter what. Now go help your brother."

Inuyasha stood them both up and gave Kagome a lingering kiss before leaving. After seeing him off, Kagome walked over to her pack and pulled out her toiletry bag and towel.

"Sango…..how about we get in a quick bath before we eat."

"Ohhh man does that sound great. My muscles are aching from sitting so long."

"How about I keep watch over you two?" Said Miroku.*BONK*

"How about I think not lech!!" Sango said as she strapped the Hiraikotsu to her back.

Kagome and Sango left Miroku on the floor looking like this @_@ and then left for the hot spring. Kaede couldn't help but laugh as she prepared things for the meat the guys will be bringing back.

A/N: Well how was that for a shock!!!! Stay tuned for Chapter 11. No telling what's going to happened there…hehehehe. PLZ R/R ok *hugs to all my fans*
