Kagome woke up feeling rejuvenated. A quick look outside told her it was nighttime. `Ah well…I'll just go back to sleep then.' She rolled over and snuggled into her pillow.

BOOM! She fell right out of the bed as tremors shook the castle's foundations. Heart pounding in her ears, she ran to the window to look for whatever caused that. With a small gasp she looked at her answer.

A giant pig-like creature was ramming the southern gate. Giant chains were attached to it and with a pull from 50 odd demons the thing threw its head into the gate. Wood started to snap as archers on the walls let off a volley of arrows into the beast. This only infuriated the thing more and it rammed the gate again.

Kagome spun around and fled the room, finding the guards who were supposed to be keeping her in had gone to help. `If I stay in this tower…the whole thing could collapse. The sound of wood cracking filled her ears as a deafening thud came soon after. The gate had fallen, literally.

She ran faster, she needed to get to the throne room and to her father, there she would be safe. She stopped momentarily at a window and peered out. She saw the diminished force of the castle getting annihilated as the demon hordes charged through them.

She took off in a different direction; one which she had learned was a shortcut to the throne room. She came into a large hall and ran down. After getting half way down the corridor, the wall behind her exploded as the shockwave threw her to the ground.

She turned around trembling, to see a large cat demon on all fours, human parts dripping from its jaws and claws. The thing grinned as it chose its next target, Kagome. She sprang to her feet and ran, knowing in the back of her head she couldn't escape the giant cat. It would catch her, and she wouldn't be able to get away.

The cat took it's time taking small leaps to keep up thoroughly enjoying the hunt. It had been a while before he could enjoy a kill, he would take his time. With one leap he landed in front of her path, reveling in the horrified expression on its prey's face.

Kagome turned around and sprinted in the other direction. The cat simply jumped in front of her again and took a false swipe, meant to wound but not serious. She stopped but not before her arm was slashed, blood pouring to the floor. She turned and ran sobbing in fear.

`Where is she?' Inuyasha had cleared the castle's wrecked gate and was sniffing the air, looking for a clue to Kagome's scent. Completely ignoring sounds of battle below him, he drew his sword and picked up speed, heading for the body of the castle.

A scent hit him forcefully. Blood, her blood. He spun his head spotting a gaping hole in the wall. “There,” he muttered under her breath as he hurried. Whatever had done that was big, if he didn't hurry, Kagome would die.

Kagome was backed into a corner. Crying and sobbing as she looked up to the cat grinning with a murderous glint. She couldn't run, the cat decided it was over. He rose to claws preparing to take his preys head off. He swung his claws down to end it all.

Kagome heard the claws whiz throw the air and gritted her teeth waiting to die. Then there was a flash of light in front of her eyelids as the cat roared in fury and pain. She opened her eyes slowly to see red. She looked up at her savior. “Inu-Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha grinned back at her. “Looks like you need some help here; you sure found yourself an ugly thing here didn't you.” She looked at the cat to see it now had one paw; the other one had fallen prey to Inuyasha's sword.

The cat was hissing and spitting at the intruder into his hunt. Sniffing the air he caught the scent of human. He was a half demon! Shrieking in rage he charged raising his paw in order to kill he who had dared to strike him.

“Heh!” Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's arm and leapt to the side, easily dodging the lumbering demon's attack. “Get back, girl.” She nodded and ran to a safe distance.

Inuyasha looked at the cat. It was big, too big. With that size he had a great speed advantage, which he'd gladly capitalize on. He leaped forward raising his sword to his side and slashing.

The cat tried to dodge to the side. He hissed in pain as the sword cut a deep gash in his chest. He swiped at his attacker only to miss pitifully. Inuyasha swung the sword to the side catching the cat's shoulder splattering blood against the wall.

As the cat hit the ground hard, Inuyasha leapt up and with a roar plunged down, ramming the sword through the cat's heart. With a strangled shriek, The Blade died. His miserable life of betrayal and death was over.

”Keh! Not much of a demon was he.” He sheathed his sword and turned around only to have Kagome barrel into his chest, crying and sobbing.

“I was so scared!” She wailed, in hysterics at this point. Inuyasha, entirely new to comforting someone else, said what first came to mind.

“Stop blubbering girl! Fuck, you're alive aren't you? What in the hell is the big problem?” He was met with her teary eyes as she looked up at him and, much to his amazement, she nodded and backed away.

“Sorry, I just…I…” She trailed off with a blush as she realized what she just did.

“Doesn't matter, c'mon” He reached for her hand. Seeing the question in her eyes, he said, “You saved me didn't you? Think of this as payment.” She nodded, and then her eyes went alight with fear again.

“Wait! What about my mom and dad? Please! You have to help them too!” She looked up at him. With her on the verge of tears again, he couldn't say no.

`Fucking hell. Life just likes making a fool out of me doesn't it? First that bastard insults me and now I'm stuck saving him. Bah!' He shook his head and turned around. “Where?” She relaxed a bit at his help and pointed in the direction of the throne room.

In the throne room, the king, queen, a few guards and the ministers of the castle were all holed up. “Damn it! What's going on outside the castle?” His blood ran cold as behind him he heard an evil chuckle. He turned around to see Naraku grinning at him.

He held up his right arm as it changed into writhing tentacles. Before anyone could do anything he swung his arm, it tore up the ministers around him and the few guards that had been left there. “Your time has ended your majesty.” He grinned as the king backed away with his wife behind his back.

“Naraku?!? What have you done?!? Is this how you repay me?!?” He screamed at his once most trusted vassal. Naraku laughed out loud.

“You never did anything for me. I did it all.” He narrowed his eyes at the royal couple. “By this time your daughter is dead. Heh. So ends the reign of you bastards.” He raked out his tentacles as a pair of screams echoed down the castle.
