Back in her room Sango was fixing her hair, which was still kind of wet. She took casual glances outside, trying to make out whether Inuyasha was getting any close to Kagome or not. She was having a bit of trouble, for Miroku was knocking on her door the whole time.

"I need to talk to you," he kept on saying. "Let me in."

"No way!" she said. "I'm getting dressed, so just wait out there like a good boy!"

"It won't take long, I promise."

"Just wait!"

She opened the door a tiny bit and looked at him severely. Then, her lips curled into a smile when she noticed the hanyou walking in the direction of Kagome's room. She decided to wait for a little while before letting the monk in.

At the same time, Kagome had been witnessing the whole thing happening in front of Sango's room.

"Go for it, Miroku-sama!" she said.

"Kagome," Inuyasha said opening her door.

"Ehh, don't you KNOCK anymore??"

"Knock? What for? We have to talk."

"Yeah, but. . . but. . ."

He went in, and closed the door behind him.

Seeing that, Sango smiled again and let the houshi into her room. He went in with a stern expression, and just stood there, in front of her, for the longest time. When he didn't do anything else, she took it that there was nothing there for him to say, and started getting into bed. She waited for him to say something, but since he didn't, she rolled over and covered herself with the blanket.

"If you have nothing to say you can leave," she told him.

Silence.

"Come on, get out!"

"Who is Hotohori?" his voice was soft, and almost painful.

The question shocked her, but she knew she would have to answer sooner or later. So she quickly gained her composure and said, looking over her shoulder in a sensual way:

"Wouldn't you like to know. . ."

He hadn't expected that answer either, but he quickly became frantic. He knelt by her bed and turned her forcefully to him by the shoulders. She looked at him afraid.

"What are you doing?!" she tried to pretend anger.

"Tell me who the hell he is!"

She couldn't tear her eyes off him, and he noticed a trace of fear in her, and his grip on her shoulders loosened.

"Please, Sango, tell me who this Hotohir guy you keep on talking about is."

"Why do you want to know?" she asked, getting her courage back. She didn't want this, this was not how she had expected it. She had to push him away. . .

"Why do I want to know? Why?! I'm worried, damn it! What if he's a youkai?!"

Sango's eyes widened, and then her lips curled up a bit. Then, she couldn't keep herself from giggling, then laughing quite loudly.

"He's not a youkai!" she managed to say between giggles. "Quite far from that actually!"

"So. . " she noticed the tremble in his voice, "he's a normal human. . ."

He looked utterly sad, and it broke her hear to see him like that.

"Houshi-sama? What's wrong?" she asked, concern clear in her voice.

His hands had let go of her hands, and he was slowly rising to his feet. She sat on her futon and looked up at him, questioningly.

"I bet he doesn't have a curse in his hand, does he?" he asked, softly. "And I bet he doesn't flirt with other girls. . ." With that, he turned on his heels and started walking away. "I wish you all the best with that man, Sango."

"Wait!" Sango cried, now on her feet. She ran towards him and hugged him from behind. "Wait. . ." she was whispering now. "Please, wait."

"Is there something you want to tell me?" he asked. "I would very much like to go to bed now."

She grabbed his hand and retraced her steps back to her futon. She then let go of his had and lied down, covering herself.

"What else do you want?"

She had left a space, half of the futon free, to her side.

"I don't know where that Hotohori guy lives, I'm sorry, I can't get him for you."

Sango sighed. Then gathered her courage and strength, got up, and pulled him down with her, kissing him when they fell on the futon.

He was shocked, and not in a very good position. True, she was quite comfortable lying down on her back, holding his head down to her, but he was sort of kneeling, and struggling with his arms on each side of her body to keep his balance. His eyes were wide open, as he still wondered what was going on.

She finally released him, and he could see tears in her eyes.

"There is no such man," she said finally.

"What?" he asked, confused, but unsure whether it was because of the kiss or the statement.

"He's a comic character from Kagome-chan's time, the guy only exists on paper."

"Then why. . ."

"You guys never seemed to notice us," Sango said, looking to the side, ashamed, "we figured out with Kagome-chan that if we could make you guys jealous you would show your feelings for us. . ."

"So. . . there's no Hatori either?"

She negated.

"Both came out of a magazine of Kagome-chan's time."

This time it was Miroku the one that started laughing.

"What is it?" Sango asked.

He stood up and untied the purple outer robe, then lied down on the futon, beside her, and pulled the covers over both of them.

"I wonder how our little inu friend is gonna take this."

Sango sat up, and looked at him.

"So. . . you're not mad at me?"

"Why should I?"

"Well. . . I set you up and. . ."

"Yeah, maybe I should be mad you know. . ."

He looked thoughtful for a moment, and she lost all hope. But then he looked at her playfully and pulled her down to him, until she was sprawled all over his chest.

"I am not very happy with the method," he said, "but I'm kind of glad you set me up. But now. . ." he pulled her closer and kissed her for a moment. He rolled over and pinned her down with his body, ". . . it's time for a little payback."

"Huh?"

He lowered his lips on hers again.

At the same time, Kagome was looking straight into Inuyasha's eyes. She couldn't read in them what he felt, she just couldn't, and that made her feel very nervous and insecure.

"What is it, Inuyasha?" she asked. "Is there anything I can do for y. . ."

She couldn't finish, for mid-phrase he silenced her with his very possessive lips. She kissed him back for a moment, then pushed him away.

"What are you doing?!" she asked.

"You have to stop seeing that Hatori guy," he demanded.

"What?"

He kissed her again, more forcefully.

"I told you, stop seeing the Hatori guy. You are my woman, and I won't allow anyone to touch you, let alone hurt you!"

"What are you talking about?"

"You said you wanted to be with me back then, so don't run behind other guys now, you hear me?"

Kagome understood well what was going on, he was finally claiming her as his, but she still wanted to hear him say it with words, out loud.

"What's that supposed to mean?" she asked, biting her lower lip.

"You are mine, and no one else's. You better don't forget that."

"Is that a threat or a declaration?" she asked, mockingly.

"Whatever suits you best," he said, actually meaning to say it was a declaration. But now his cheeks had turn burning red, and even though he had turned around to hide it from her, she could still see it from his ears, which were just as red.

"Hmm," she decided to play with him a bit more since he had ruined her fantasy. . . not that she was complaining about the kissing though, "for a declaration that was way too dry and forceful, so I would definitely say it's a threat."

He turned to her, and glared.

"Of course, I would be a lot more comfortable with a declaration and all but. . ."

He silenced her with another kiss.

"You want a freaking declaration? I'll make you a stupid declaration then!"

"Re. . . really?!" she hadn't expected that.

"Yes," he said looking seriously into her eyes. "But first you have to tell me who that Hatori guy is so I can go kill him."

Kagome froze at his sincerity. He was being serious, but she could see that he was somewhat expectant, and fearing that she would reject him. Maybe she could play a bit more with him. . .

"Hatori? Oh, you know, he's this really cute guy. . ."

His face faltered, all the seriousness gone.

"So you. . . lo. . . love this guy?" he asked, almost too sadly.

"No," she answered, and waited to see his reaction.

"That's good," he said simply.

"Why?" she asked, playing just a bit more. She could just tell him that he loved her, but she wanted him to tell her first.

"Why? Do you still need to ask?"

"Yes! Gods, Inuyasha, can you be clear for once?? I'm falling asleep here, and I'm cold!"

"You're cold?"

"Very!"

He noticed she was shivering, what he did not notice is that she wasn't ONLY shivering because she was cold. She was so expectant. . . But of course that didn't register in him, for his senses were a bit down at the moment.

`Damn,' he thought, `being in love really makes you a freaking weakling. . . `

He picked her up and brought her down to her futon, and put the blanket on her after sliding in beside her. He then passed his arms around her and she rested her head on his chest.

"Better?" he asked, softly.

"Much better."

She sighed. Maybe she didn't have to play with him too much anymore. She could just let herself go and enjoy the moment. In the end, the stupid declaration might not even be necessary after all.

Plus she hoped that by this time Miroku would have finally confessed to Sango. . .

She let him kiss her neck, and hug her closer. She didn't feel the need to resist, and felt that all that had to be said had been said. Contentment filled her, and all she could concentrate on was Inuyasha, and the way he made her feel.

"I want to stay like this," she said, "always."

His only response was to pull her closer to him, and kiss her lips once more, this time, having her responding.

Do I have to say that the poor innkeepers and other guests were awake half of the night because of uhm. . . youkai?

Well, at least that's what they thought it was, for such screaming had never been heard from their guests before.

The morning greeted the two couples wrapped comfortably in blankets. But it seems that the two girls had the same thoughts. They both got up and walked out of their rooms, in the direction of the baths. Undoubtedly their paths crossed half way through.

They stared at each other, taking in the state the other was, but ignoring their own. Sango was the first one to laugh.

"Look at you!" she said laughing hard. "I never expected to see you wearing that fire rat robe. . . closed. . . with practically nothing under it."

Kagome turned red, noticing herself, but then quickly retorted.

"Well, not as bad as you! In Miroku-sama's black robes. . . and with your hair in such a mess!"

Sango went pale, and reached her hands up to her hair, it was indeed a mess.

"Oh, my God!" she took the run towards the bath house, with Kagome behind her. "It's because it was still wet yesterday when. . ."

"When what?" Kagome asked, very interested.

"Nothing!" Sango quickly said, blushing. They took the robes off and went into the bath.

"Ahh, I know ^___^, I know very well! You guys screamed a lot last night."

"Not as much as you guys, though. . ."

They were silent for a moment, both blushing.

"So," Kagome said, "who was first? Who lost the bet?"

Sango looked at her.

"I have no idea."
