Chapter II: Rapture
The sounds of heavy footsteps carried throughout the house. Sesshomaru looked at the paintings that hung about the long hallway. "Very exquisite." He said as he admired the fine mahogany wooden floors. He walked until he reached the study and discovered
Kagome sleeping soundly on the loveseat. He chuckled to himself as he walked further in and gently nudged Kagome awake. "Kagome?" he said.
"I do." Kagome murmured in her sleep.
Sesshomaru could only imagine the things going through her head. He stopped pushing her long enough to take a good look at her. "Beautiful." He said to himself. Sesshomaru was no doubtly a playboy and could smooth talk any woman, but for some odd reason he couldn't with Kagome. He had feelings for her for quite a long time, but could never muster the confidence to tell her. The few times he tried InuYasha was always there interrupting. Sesshomaru knew that deep within his little brother, he harbored the same feelings, but unlike Sesshomaru, he wasn't capable of admiting that to himself. Sesshomaru knew that Kagome also still had strong feelings for InuYasha even though she was engaged to some twit in the city. He sighed to himself because he really wanted her and since he was a realist, he knew he couldn't have her. Sesshomaru stared at her a couple more minutes admiring this forbidden fruit in her quiet and peaceful state. Her cheeks rosy and lips full. "I love you." He whispered hoping that the words could drift off into her dreams
"I love you, too...." She mumbled.
Sesshomaru's eyes widened as he realized the words that came out her mouth. Was this a dream? Or did she really....
"InuYasha." She said as she tossed over.
The only feeling Sesshomaru could feel was anger and jealously after his brother's name came out of her mouth. He decided to let her have her dream and be in peace as he gently walked away leaving her alone.

InuYasha saw Sesshomaru come out of the mansion and ran up to him. "Sess, have you seen Kag anywhere? I wanted to take her home because I know she's tired from the plane."
Sesshomaru looked at his brother for a moment. 'You don't even know how much that woman in there loves you and I hate it' "Yeah, she's in the study sleeping."
InuYasha chuckled. "I knew I shouldn't left her alone in there. Thanks, man." InuYasha said patting Sesshomaru on the shoulder before he rushed in the house.
"What am I doing?" Sesshomaru mumbled to himself.
InuYasha rushed down the long hallway before he saw Kagome sleep on the loveseat. He walked over to her and smiled. "I hate to do this to you, but..." InuYasha said as he kneld down to where he was close to her face. "KAGOME!!!" He shouted making her scream and jump up. "Ha, I knew that'd get you up."
Once Kagome's heart rate went down and she realized her surroundings she hit InuYasha upside his head with her hand. "What is your problem?"
"You're such a heavy sleeper that I knew you wouldn't get up any other way."
"A gentle nudge would've awoken me." Kagome said getting up. "You nearly scared me to death."
"Sorry about that, but you know damn well a gentle nudge wasn't going to wake you up."
"Anyways, what's so important you had to yell in my ear to get me up." Kagome sticking a finger in her ear to get sound back into it.
"Come on. We're about to go." InuYasha said looping his arm around Kagome's as he dragged her out.
Kikyo saw InuYasha leaving out of the house with Kagome arm in arm and quickly felt ill in her stomach. Then she shook the thoughts out of her head. 'They're just friends. Just friends."
"See, Kikyo. I told you." Kikyo's mother said behind her.
Kikyo looked back at her mother. "Quit it. I trust InuYasha with all my heart."
"The real question is, do you trust that girl?" She asked.
"Yeah, I trust Kagome, too." Kikyo said then she waved them over.
InuYasha and Kagome walked over. "Hey, Kik. I'm going to go. I know Kagome's tired from the trip over, so I'm going to go check her into a hotel or something"
"You're going already." Kikyo whined.
"Yeah, but I'll spend the whole day with you tomorrow."
Kikyo lit up. "Really? The whole day? You have to promise me."
"Yeah, I promise." InuYasha said as he leaned in and gave Kikyo a kiss. "Alright, see ya later." He said as he walked out of the backyard with Kagome in tow.
"If is isn't Yash!" A voice shouted.
Both Kagome and InuYasha turned around to see a man with long black hair and piercing blue eyes. "Hey, Kouga. What's been up?"
"Nothing. Am I too late?" Kouga said walking up to them.
"Yeah, we're off to the hotel."
"Hey, you and Kikyo are suppose to do that after the wedding."
"Huh? Oh, this isn't Kikyo. This is Kagome."
Kouga squinted his eyes. "Kagome?" His eye the widened. "As in the Kagome Higurashi. Your old love. The one who you pined and whined to me for years over. The..."
"Shut up!" InuYasha said as his face grew hot.
"Oh, don't start blushing on me, Yash. It's the truth." Kouga then looked at Kagome. "No need to be ashamed. I can see why you cried like bitch. She's easy on the eyes. Looks exactly like Kikyo. Hi, I'm Kouga, InuYasha's partner in crime." Kouga said extending his hand.
Kagome lend hers out and Kouga immediately took it a kissed it gently. Kagome endured the spit on her hand for a brief moment before she retracted it. "Hello."
"So, Yash who have you decided to be the best man. I'm dying over here."
"You're looking at her." InuYasha replied.
"What? You're kidding, right?"
"Nope. I was hoping Kikyo could take her to get a dress fitted."
"Aww, that's so fucked up. It's called best man for a reason."
"Kagome is very important to me and I want her to be a big part of the wedding. I know Kikyo's cousin is the maid of honor and bridesmate is just code for 'I'm single so come on and fuck me'"
Kouga chuckled. "Yeah, that's what they're there for. Without bridesmates, there wouldn't even be that morning after when you realized you might need to go to the clinic."
"And this is our cue to leave. Bye, Kouga." InuYasha said as he walked over to his car and helped Kagome in.
"Your ex-girlfriend as your best man? That just spells out trouble." Kouga said to himself as he watched the car drive away.
"Well, he's interesting." Kagome said as she went into her purse and pulled out her sanitizer.
"Sorry about that. Kouga...well...he doesn't really think before he talks or even think for that matter."
"I can tell." She said as she rubbed the cold clear liquid into her hands.
InuYasha looked over to Kagome and shook his head. "What's your problem? Why do you always have to...to sanitize yourself after every single encounter with people?"
"Because people equals germs and Kouga's spit on my hands is definitely germ worthy. Especially, after talking about going to the clinic." Kagome said before shuddering
"You're always overreacting, Kagome. You're always taking situations in your own hands and twisting people to fit your standards. It's a habit that you should break. I mean I don't even know how that Hobo guy deals with you."
"First off, it's Hojo for Christ sakes. Second, it's none of your business what I do at home. It's also none of your business what habits I should break. How the hell would you know if Hojo can deal with me?"
"Because I couldn't deal with you myself before you dumped me like trash." InuYasha exploded out.
Kagome paused. "Uh...I.."
"Don't say nothing else, Kagome." InuYasha said.
She folded her arms and sat back into the seat. She looked over to him and studied his movements. She could tell he was mad and knew she was the one that pissed him off. 'He's so sexy when he's angry.' Kagome looked out of the window admiring her hometown and it's crystal cool air and big healthy trees. She then remembered her childhood house. The parents that took care of her regardless of the fact that she wasn't even theirs. They were old when they took her in and held on long enough to see her graduate. Kagome loved her foster parents, but she always wondered what her real parents were like. If they were like her or not. If they even liked the same things. She often dreamed of mother and father as judges, or doctors, or anything as long as they were together. Kagome then looked over to InuYasha.
"So, which hotel you're checking into." InuYasha said breaking the silence.
"Um...I'm not checking into a hotel." Kagome said softly. She knew this conversation was going to come, but she wanted to advoid it at all costs.
"What? Then, where are you staying at?"
"At Sango's."
"What?!!!" InuYasha shouted as she almost got into a accident at hearing the news.
"I'm staying at Sango's"
"I heard what you said, Kagome. Why in the hell are you going to stay at that woman's house? I won't allow it. I just won't. Infact, I forbid you to ever see that crazy woman."
"InuYasha, you can't forbid me of seeing her. She's practically my best friend."
"I thought I was your best friend."
"And you are. It's just that somethings I can't share with you that I can only share with Sango."
"What can't you possibly share with me?" InuYasha asked. "I share everything with you."
"InuYasha, sometimes a woman needs another woman's companionship. It's nothing personal."
"Whatever." He sighed."I just can't believe you're friends with her. I'm telling you that girl is a bad influence. You know she ran off and got hitched to some lech."
"So, I've heard." Kagome said.
"Who does things like that? And she has the man living with her at that. I bet they're doing all types of freaky stuff in there alone. You know, how freaky Sango is."
"Yes, I know."
"She maybe a closet freak, but she's definitely one. She pretends like she doesn't have black leather whips, chains, and other crazy contraptions locked in there somewhere."
"InuYasha, everytime I even mention Sango's name you go on and on and on."
"Her name is like fucking vomit."
"I don't know why you hate her so much. She's practically you but a girl version. You guys should get along."
"Opposites attract. Likes repel. It's simple science, Kag." InuYasha said as he came to a screeching halt infront of Sango's house. "Here we are, the devil's hideout."
Sango came running out of the house waving. "Hi!"She sqealed as she ran up to the car.
"Oh, god. Here she comes." InuYasha said getting out the car to get Kagome's bags out of the trunk.
Kagome smiled and got of the car and hugged Sango. "I've missed you so much."
"Same here, Kags. Look at you with all that pink. You are so adorable." She squeaked as she eyed her summer dress. "Can I borrow that while you're here?" Sango said.
"Of course. Hell, you can have it."
"Oooh. Thanks, best friend."
"Mooching again, I see." InuYasha said walking up to them with Kagome's suitcase.
"Still howling at the moon?" Sango retorted.
"Guys, please don's start. I'm so tired and I don't have the energy to referee a fight." Kagome said.
"Alright, Kagome. I'll be the bigger man." InuYasha said. "
"Yeah, I'm sorry, too."
"Okay, so I'm going to get into a bed and sleep. I'll see you tommorrow, Yash."
"I wish you could, but I promised I would spend the whole day with Kikyo." InuYasha said.
"That's alright, Kagome. I'll take you out tommorrow to a nice spa and get you a massage. You don't have to walk the dog." Sango said as she sneered InuYasha.
"Keep testing me, Sango. I don't want to crack your head." He said raising his fist.
"I thought you didn't hit women."
"I don't. I do, on the otherhand, fight beasts."
"Is that a challenge?" Sango said rolling up her sleeves.
"Let's take this outside."
"We are outside, you dumbass."
"Stop it!!" Kagome yelled. "I'll see you later, InuYasha." she said picking up her suitcase and walking towards the house.
"This isn't over, beast." InuYasha yelled as he walked over to his car.
"Anytime, anyplace." Sango said back always needing to have the last word. Sango followed Kagome in the house and shut the door. "I can't believe you're friends with that douche bag."
"Can you believe he said the same thing?" Kagome said dropping her bags on the floor and flopping on the cherry red leather couch.
"He called me a douchebag? Why didn't you defend me? I can't believe the nerve of him."
"I didn't say that for you to explode, San. I said it because you two are so alike it's amazing you're not twins. Maybe, you should just get along."
"I wouldn't get along with him if he was the last person on earth." Sango said sitting down next to Kagome.
"So, where's Miroku?" Kagome said changing the subject.
"He's at work. He works at an art gallery. Can you believe that?"
"That's great Sango. You could get your art in there."
"Yeah, but he's a...well...he's a janitor there."
"Oh. Eww."
"Don't say ''eww''. He's a good man with an honest job. Plus, he's been trying to get them to look at my work."
"Any luck?"
Sango hung her head. "No but, knowing my honey bear, things will fall into place."
"I'm sure they will, San."
"Thanks, Kags."
Kagome smiled as she got up from the couch and strectched. "Mmm. I'm so tired, so where am I sleeping?"
"Right here." Sango said.
"What?! I thought this was two bedroom house."
"It was, but I after me and Miroku got together. I changed the other room into my painting room."
"San, I can't sleep on a couch. My back won't stand it."
"It's not just a couch." Sango said getting up. She pulled the edges out as a bed emgered. "It's a bed, too."
"I think I should've stayed at a hotel." Kagome grumbled.
