InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Best of Friends ❯ Hallway Surfing Gone Wrong ( Chapter 2 )
Hallway Surfing Gone Wrong
For the most part he was ignoring Rin, showing Suki around and dragging him almost the entire time. Eventually he announced to the both of them that he had something to do for now and they could enjoy the leisure time they would have now since they wouldn't get much of it after he was done. So he pretty much stalked down the halls away from them, leaving them in the hallway somewhere in the palace, alone.
Suki meowed slightly when Sesshoumaru left, not really sure if he wanted to be left alone with Rin, she was loud and he didn't like loud things. Plus she seemed really bratty, he didn't like that either. Damn. This sucked. Looking over at her he sighed a bit before looking at any random place he might find interesting before realizing that there wasn't much for a kid to find amusing here. He started to walk off down another hallway, eager to find something to do around here. Rin, however, was easily entertained, finding the hallway floors slick and easy to slide on. Lucky for her there wasn't anything breakable in the hallway, otherwise it'd be a sure target for Rin if she got out of control with her sliding. She didn't even notice Suki leave.
"Wheee!" she cried, giggling as she ran back to the end of the hallway so she could slide for her fifth time.
As Suki walked, he thought to himself what would happen if he got lost? This place was huge after all. But Sesshoumaru would find him eventually. Then another thought occured to him if Sesshoumaru had any other male servants around, maybe they'd be cute. Not that it should matter to him but it did. And they'd probably be much better than Rin.
During her seventh slide, she wasn't watching that she was getting a little too close to the wall at the end of the hallway, too busy having fun. With a loud bang, Rin hit the wall suddenly. Her eyes opened wide as she did, owing and whimpering a little. She was done sliding now, and was curious to where Suki was, though she wasn't going to follow him. She sat down in a little spot and waited for Sesshoumaru to return. As she waited, and because she was easily entertained, Rin put on a little show for herself with her fingers to pass the time.
Suki had gotten himself confused and ended up back where she was, though he didn't seem quite pleased with that. He hadn't come across anything fun or seen anyone else the entire time and when he finally thought he found someone it turned out to be her.
His mouth had been opened in pure delight, ready to squeal out something before tackling whoever the random person was, but now that he realized it was her he frowned.
"Oh, it's just you," he said with an annoyed sigh, "Figures," he muttered under his breath before pausing and looking around, nibbling on his paw a bit, wondering where he may want to go next.
"Aieee!" She yelled, being tipped over as Suki tackled her. That was certainly unexpected. She backed away from him and dusted herself of, frowning and pouting a little. Her play had just started to get good, even if her fingers didn't have any costumes. She had her imagination, and that's all she needed to have a good time by herself.
"Hmph. You ruined my show." She turned her back to Suki, her arms crossed across her chest. She wanted Sesshoumaru to come back, no matter how non-playful or mean he was.
"Yeah... well... you're ugly," he retorted, even though it honestly had -nothing- to do with the fact that he ruined her show.
Pouting, it was really a war of who was the cutest because once Sesshoumaru came back to find them he'd have to chose one or the other for the time being and it probably depended upon who was the cutest and entertained him the most. And Suki knew he wasn't going to let Sesshoumaru chose Rin over him, especially since Sesshoumaru hadn't wanted Rin in the first place.
She turned and stared at him, glaring as she poked him. "Well, at least I don't have ugly ears with things in them!" she hissed, rather angry that Suki was the only one around right now. One, she hated him since he was an attention-getter like her, and two, he had seemingly tried to kill her not too long ago. So really, he wasn't exactly on her `friends' list.
She walked off in the direction Sesshoumaru had gone, wanting to find him before Suki got really angry at her while they were having a little verbal war.
Narrowing his eyes at her he didn't have any sort of comeback for his ears, but it didn't matter... he had always liked his ears. "They're called earrings! Stupid!" he said while sticking out his tongue and pulling down on his eye before watching as she left.
"You're going the wrong way," he said while laughing at her before trotting past her on all fours, beginning to head down the hall, sniffing at the and smirking. "I can smell Sesshoumaru-sama, I'll be able to find him before you and he'll like me more than you," he said with a little boyish giggle before beginning to speed up and follow his nose to where Sesshoumaru was. He was determined to make the taiyoukai like him more than Rin.
"Neh. No, no!" She shouted after him, running fast, though not as fast as him seeing as how she was only a nigen and he was a youkai. That, and she was three years younger than him. Girls were naturally cuter than boys... so why would Sesshoumaru pick Suki over her? Who even said he was picking kids? She didn't know, but she did know she was going to get to her new lord first. Though, as she was thinking, she felt her feet slip, falling forwards as she suddenly tripped on the bottom of her kimono and was sliding on her stomach right towards Suki.
Laughing rather wildly at the fact that she wasn't as fast as him, everything was going fine until his tail twitched and he felt something brush against it. "NYAH!?" he meowed out before his feet were suddenly treading at air, not getting him anywhere. Pretty soon he felt part of her body under his foot and he slipped on her kimono, whimpering as he tumbled onto her and smacked his face onto the floor with a loud crack.
Beginning to immediately start crying, blood was on the floor around his face and was trickling out of his mouth at a pretty fast rate. He had seriously gotten himself hurt for once. This wasn't just some scrape. Whimpering out in pain, he couldn't manage to make any coherent words as he held onto his face with his paws.
Rin was crying too, yelling for Sesshoumaru as they started to slow down. She got Suki off her, sobbing more and cringing as she stared at the trail of blood from his head. The wood floors had a crimson streak leading to Suki's head, his ears and pink hair covered in blood as well. She turned and ran down a random hallway, yelling for help and soon bumping into Sesshoumaru, hardly able to say anything since she was sobbing so hard.
"What's wrong? Who's screaming?" he questioned until he noticed Suki half way down the hall holding his face, a long trail of blood going doing the hallway from where they had slid. "Damnit, what the hell happened?" he questioned Rin, pulling her along after him as he moved to Suki's side.
"I was tr-trying to f-f-find you and Su-suki did too and he got in front of me," She took a breath, trying to control her tears. "And I tr-triped and I sl-slid and t-then he triped on me and got hurt." The knot in her throat made it impossible to say more and she had started to sob lightly again, covering her face with her kimono sleeves so that no one could see her face. Her eyes were red and teary and her cheeks and nose were also rather red, too.
"Shh, it's alright, we'll get him fixed up," Sesshoumaru reassured her, patting her on the head slightly before moving away from her to pick up Suki carefully. As soon as he lifted the boy, Suki lashed out, in a state of shock from the pain and loss of blood, feeling threatened by any and everything, but Sesshoumaru didn't seem to mind at all. Trying to coax him into relaxing like he had with Rin, he began to walk back the way he had come. He wrapped Suki in his fluff so it was more comfortable, plus his fluff was easier to wash than his clothing and the blood would certainly come out of the easier.
Sort of leaving Rin behind, she quickly walked after them, but being careful not to trip this time. She truly was sorry and it had been a complete accident. Rin reached in her pocket, pulling out a couple of beads and stuff, though she shook her head and reached back in until she found what she wanted. It was kind of crumpled, but it was still pretty. It was a red flower she had picked and saved for later. She figured she'd give it to Suki as a get well soon present and as an apology.
Sesshoumaru quickly took the boy into a room where a young usagi hanyou was playing with some handmade dolls, but she turned and smiled when the taiyoukai set down Suki and demanded for her to help.
"Will do," she purred, scooting over to the little boy who had been set down on the floor. His jaw was pushed out of place and his fangs had pierced through his cheeks and lips and one of them had broken and fallen out. A large crack was splitting part of his head on the top and blood was everywhere and the ear-splitting wail was only getting worse. But the girl didn't seem phased by it at all.
"Shush! You're gonna be fine you big baby," she giggled before placing her hands over his mouth and the top of his head, both of them glowing before he screamed out from the pain of the wounds mending. "No one said it wasn't going to hurt to be healed!" she grumbled at him but pretty soon everything had been fixed for the most part. He was still a little banged up but nothing too serious, his tooth was fixed and the crack was gone but he had a bruise and a cut where it had been. His cheeks and lips were repaired but the same thing of bruises and cuts remained there as well.
"There he's better," she declared before allowing Sesshoumaru to take him again, beginning to walk away as he called for Rin to come along. He took Suki to what would end up being the room he and Rin shared; and he made sure to announce that when Sesshoumaru got there before setting Suki on a futon and telling Rin to watch him until he came back; leaving them again.
"But-" she was about to object to watching Suki, though she stopped and nodded at Sesshoumaru. She scooted closer to Suki and held out the flower for him to take, hoping he would forgive her. She sat down, criss crossing her legs and watching Suki like she had been told. She wasn't going to move a muscle since sometimes she was a little accident-prone herself like Suki was.
Feeling exhausted, whatever kind of healing powers that girl had used they had worked but made him incredibly tired. Looking over to Rin, he saw the flower she held out to him and he put out a paw to take it from her, bringing it close to his face and studying it for a while, thanking her. He forced himself to sit up, holding onto his head slightly before sighing. Though, Rin gently took one of his arms, laying him back down.
Rin only nodded her head to say 'You're welcome' for giving him the flower. She hadn't felt like talking since she too was rather tired. Their unusual day had taken a lot out of her and she would have been happy just going to bed without any dinner.
"You're tired too... come here," he said while grabbing onto her arm and pulling her up onto the futon easily, considering he -was- a youkai. "Now we can both sleep until he comes back," he said while purring and closing his eyes, sort of snuggling close to her but not really against her.
Rin didn't refuse, doing as he said and laying down next to him. A small yawn exited her mouth as her eyes fluttered closed. She hadn't realized she had been much more tired than she'd imagined. It wasn't long before her breathing slowed and Rin was no longer awake. A little nap was good, though she had thought before she fell asleep about what Sesshoumaru would think about her falling asleep too. She was supposed to be watching Suki, not sleeping next to him. But… a little nap wouldn't hurt, she decided. And the two of them fell asleep together.
