Chapter 7: Lunch Together?

Sango and Kagome both started to read the letter.

Dear Kagome,

Meet me at Charlie's Diner after school. There is a reserved table for us and the food is already ordered. I'll be along shortly after the food is served. (I'm buying) I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

(You'll find out once I get there.)

Kagome tilted her head in confusion while Sango smiled. She looked at Kagome and snatched the letter from her, raising it above her head.

“Wow! A blind date!! Go Kagome!!!” Sango yelled in excitement.

“A what?” Kagome asked while sweatdropping.

“A blind date Kagome, its when you go out with a random person. Could be someone you know could be someone you don't know. I think you should go!”

“Sango…”

“Just do it. Hey! How about I go with you? I can just be at a different table.”

“Uh…ok. But if it's someone that I don't like, we're leaving ok?”

“Sure! Now, let's go to class and get the day over with. I can't wait to see who it is!” Sango said as she skipped off to her first class.

Kagome sighed. She closed her locker and slowly walked to class. She too, wondered who her blind date was. What if it was Hojo? Ugh, if it were Hojo she would run half way down the block. She just couldn't stand Hojo and how cheery and bubbly he was. It was annoying how happy he was. It would make the most polite person in the world barf. When she got to class, she proceeded with doing her class work.

The day went on smoothly. Inuyasha didn't insult her at all. All he did say was: “Hey Kagome.” All she did in response was look the other way as though he said nothing to her. She was still mad about this morning. Thoughts about him bossing her around like that didn't make her happy at all. She wished that she had said a few more things to him but she was too angry at the time, she was also afraid that he was going to get her back for kicking him in his jewels.

The bell that signaled the end of the day rang letting loose a bunch of teenagers running out of the building. Kagome went to her locker to drop off her books. She hoped that Inuyasha didn't leave her another embarrassing surprise. She opened her locker and instead of feeling upset by what she saw, she was quite surprised. It was a bouquet of red and white roses! This was very unexpected in her case. Attached to the plastic wrapping around the roses was a small card. It read: “Not even these roses can match your beauty. Hope to see you at the diner.”

“OoOoOO! Who gave you those Kagome?”

Kagome jumped up, being startled by Sango like that.

Kagome sweatdropped. “Sango, don't scare me like that!”

“Sorry. Who're they from?!” She squeaked, damn near snatching the flowers from her friend.

“They're from the same guy who invited me to the..” Kagome cut herself off, trying to get the roses out of Sango's reach. “Diner!”

“Really?! Oh this guy must really like you Kagome!”

“Yeah, it seems so.”

“Let's go! You're supposed to be there before him right?”

“Yeah, I guess so.”

“Then let's go!”

With that, Sango grabbed Kagome's arm and dragged her to her car out in the student parking lot. Sango, eagerly started her car and sped out of the parking lot without giving Kagome a chance to put her seat belt on.

“Sango! Let me put on my seat belt!” Kagome said, holding onto her seat for dear life.

“No time, we're almost there!”

“It's my blind date, aren't I supposed to be the excited one?”

~`~`~`~`~`~`~

“Hey, it's been a while!”

“Hey Miroku. Same here.”

“So, are you still going?”

“Yeah, this may just be the corniest thing that I had ever done.”

“But you have to right? Just do it and get it over with.”

“I suppose. This might even get interesting if I play my cards right.”

“Ah… mind if I get a little action too?”

“Pervert, get your own action.”

“Don't mind if I do.”

THWACK!

“Hey, why did you punch me?”

“Cause you're getting annoying…”

“Hey, can I come with you to the diner?”

“No.”

“Oh c'mon. I'll be good!”

“Fine, but if you cause any trouble, I'm throwing you out of the diner. Got it?”

“Got it! I'll just find a lonely woman to occupy myself.”

“Dirty pervert…”

~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~

Sango and Kagome pulled into the parking lot of the diner. They both got out of the car and looked at the place. Kagome looked like she was just running in a race where as Sango looked completely calm.

“We're here. Let's go in.” Sango said cheerfully.

“Wait…a second….let me….(huff) catch my breath…” Kagome said, trying to catch her breath.”

“What's with you girl? You look like you were just running a mile or something.”

“Well, if you would have driven your car like a normal human being would, then I wouldn't be out of breath like this. Do you know how many times you could have crashed? I thought we were going to die!” Kagome yelled out.

Sango blinked, then sighed.

“I wouldn't get us killed silly. Don't even think that.”

“Sometimes, I wonder.”

The girls walked up to the door but Kagome put her arm in front of Sango, stopping her.

“Hey, what's wrong?” Sango asked.

“I can't go in there with you. This is supposed to be my date right?”

“Ok, You go in first, then I'll go in once you're at your table. I'll sit like at the next table closest to yours ok?”

Kagome smiled and nodded her head. “Ok. But how do I know which table is mine?”

“When you walk up to the hostess lady, tell her that you have a reserved table, where ever it may be. Then tell her you name, and she'll take you to it.”

“Oh, ok. Thanks.”

“No prob. Just get in there before this guy of yours walks in there with us at the front door.”

Kagome walked into the diner. She went up to the hostess like Sango told her to and smiled at the young woman.

“I have a reserved table.” Kagome said.

“Name please.” The woman asked happily.

“Higurashi, Kagome.”

“Hmm, right this way ma'am.”

The woman lead Kagome to the back of the diner where there were 4 curtain closed off rooms. Kagome blinked and looked at the woman.

“What's in those rooms?” She asked.

“Oh, those are the private dining rooms. Very fancy, very expensive, very comfortable.”

“Oh. I'm going in one of them?”

“Yes, one is reserved for you and your partner. He said that he'd be here shortly after the food is served. That will be in about 7 minutes.”

“Thank you.”

“Sure! You're very welcomed.”

The hostess approached the 3rd curtain closed room and pulled off the “reserved” sign. She opens the curtain and leads Kagome inside. Kagome looked around in awe. The room was beautiful! The walls were painted in dark blue, there was a dark blue rug on the floor, and there were dimmed round lights going around the room. Seemed kinda like a romantic setting. There were two fancy black chairs sitting across from each other with a round dining table in the middle of them. The table had a frilly white tablecloth set with two lit candles in the middle. There was a plate and a set of silverware on each side of the table with two crystal glasses. It was very beautiful and she wondered how much it cost.

“How much does it cost to eat in one of these rooms?” Kagome asked out of curiosity.

“About $1700.87.”

“Wow, pretty expensive dining room…”

“Well, here you are ma'am, your food should be here soon.”

“Thank you.”

The woman nodded, then exited the room.

“Wow…” Kagome said, looking around the room.

“Its really pretty.” Said a voice coming from the curtain.

“Sango! You're not supposed to be over here remember?” Kagome whispered.

“I know, but I had to see what this room looked like. I thought that you were going to be at a normal table. Not a private dining room.”

“Sango, he can be here any minute. Go to your table. I'll leave to go to the bathroom in a few minutes. Go with me when I leave, then we can talk.”

“Ok Kags, good luck. I hope he's cute!”

Kagome shooed Sango away from the little room. After that she went to one side of the table and sat down in the chair. She looked at the room some more before someone entered the small room. She glanced up happily but her smile soon turned into a frown.

“Inu…Inuyasha?! What are you doing here? I'm waiting for someone.” Kagome spatted.

“Yeah, you were waiting for me. I guess I got here a bit early since the food hasn't been served yet.” He said with a smug smile on his face.

Kagome's eyes widened.

“You're the one who left the letter in my locker?” she asked, pointing at the silver-hared teenager.

“Yep.”

“And the roses?!”

“Hmm, two points for you.” He said sarcastically.

Kagome stumbled backwards. Inuyasha sent her those things? The note and the roses? This had to be another one of his dirty tricks. He was going to embarrass her in public! Hadn't he had his fun at school? Well, then again, he hasn't made fun of her for almost three days straight. This confused her.

“What are you up to?” She asked quirking an eyebrow.

“Having lunch with you. Is that a crime?”

“You're going to do something to embarrass me aren't you?”

“What made you think that?”

“Cause its you we're talking about.” She said, her eyebrow twitching in annoyance.

“Hmm, that's not nice.”

“What's you're deal Inuyasha? How come you won't leave me alone?!”

Inuyasha looked at the fuming girl. She was indeed pissed and he was getting a kick out of it. But, if he wanted to be in her good graces, he couldn't upset her. He slowly walked over to the empty seat and sat down. He motioned with his hand for her to sit down.

“No. I'm leaving.” She said plainly.

“Hey! I didn't even do anything.”

“Not yet you haven't. And I won't let you.” She snapped, heading for the curtain that leaded out of the small room.

Inuyasha picked up the roses that she left on the floor and ran in front of her, blocking her from leaving.

“I meant what I said on this card.” He said, prodding the small card on the plastic wrap of the bouquet.

Kagome looked at him. She took the roses from him and stood there a moment. Then without hesitation she smashed them upside Inuyasha's head, leaving petals all over him and some falling to the floor. Kagome smirked at what she just did. Then she heard her friend Sango scream.

“Pervert!!”

THWACK!!!!

“Ow! You're the only one that's ever resorted to violence.”

“Get away from me you pervert!! Help!! This pervert is touching on me!!” Sango screamed.

“Don't scream! Don't scream!” Miroku pleaded.

“Sango?” Kagome said as she exited the room.

“Miroku!! What did I tell you!” Inuyasha shouted.

“Miroku? Whose Miroku?” Kagome asked.

“A perverted friend of mine who just got back from a family vacation.”

Sango saw Kagome come out of the dining room and ran to her. She hid behind Kagome and pointed at Miroku.

“He grabbed my ass. Call the police!”

“Miroku you idiot! You said that you wouldn't cause trouble!” Inuyasha yelled.

Sango looked to her side and saw Inuyasha. She didn't even realize that he walked into the diner.

“Inuyasha? What are you doing here?” Sango asked, a bit puzzled.

Sango looked at the expression on Kagome's face, then looked at Inuyasha. She gasped and her eyes widened with disbelief.

“No way! You're the guy who sent the roses and the letter?!”

A/N: Well, there's chapter 7. I hope it wasn't too corny or boring. I'm trying to find a way to make Inuyasha try to win Kagome over without being too OOC. My Microsoft word doesn't really work for crap so it never really tells me the exact amount of words that I have. I try to stay in the 1900-2500 range but after re-reading this chapter it seems pretty freakin' long. Well I hope that you guys like it and I hope that you guys review! Sorry for the late update!

Until next chappie….
