The Bond Between Them

Chapter 5: Family night

A/N: Ive decided that the whole Kagura thing happened a little less than a year before they met Kagome.

After school Kagome went home and did her homework for the night before going down to dinner with her family. Her mom was making Oden, Kagomes' favorite, as a hint that she wanted her home tonight.

"Kagome dinner will be done in a half hour, why don't you invite the boys over I made too much for just us." Kagomes' mother said from the door.

She smiled at her mother, "I'll give them a call but I doubt Inuyasha will come." Kagome told her mom.

"At Kikyo's," Hitome asked.

Kagome shrugged, "probably, him and Sessh had a fight and I don't think he wants to see Sessh yet."

"So invite Sesshomaru over for the night and tell Inuyasha he has the house for the night." Hitome suggested.

"That's a good idea, thanks mom," Kagome said.

Kagome opened the door and let Sesshomaru in the house. They smiled at each other and went into the dining room.

"Hi Sesshomaru, how are you." Hitome greeted him as he sat down with Kagome at the table.

"I'm good Hitome and how are you," he asked.

"I'm well please eat," she said.

"Thank you, hello Jichan, Sota." Sesshomaru said as he served himself some Oden.

"Hello Sesshomaru how is school going," Jichan asked.

"It's going well, I have a few exams coming up but I'm not too worried about them," he replied. "Sota how is that girl of yours?"

"Katie is good, she is on a trip with her club to a horse farm somewhere around Philly, she should be back on Wednesday," Sota told him with a small smile on his face.

"Interesting," Sesshomaru said.

The rest of dinner was spent catching up with each other and talking about random subjects. Nights like this always made Sesshomaru a little happier. When his mother left she took his normal childhood with her. But herewith Kagomes family he remembered what it was like before she left.

After dinner they cleaned the table and sat around the t.v. in the living room to watch `Whose Line Is It Anyway'.

Later everyone left Kagome and Sesshomaru alone in the living room to talk.

She look up at him from her seat between his legs, he smiled at her stroking her hair. "Lets go for a walk," Kagome said.

They walked to the park a few blocks from her house. She climbed up the branches of a large oak tree with Sesshomaru not too far behind.

They sat facing each other in the large braches. "Sessh what happened with Kagura?" Kagome asked.

He turned his head away from her, `she has a right to know but I don't know how to tell her.'

She took his hand in her own and waited patiently.

"There was a senior named Naraku, he hated both Inuyasha and myself for a very long time. One time he tried to fight me, to say I beat him is to put it lightly. He stood no chance. After that he was always looking for a way to restore his dignity." He paused and looked into her eyes, she squeezed his hand lightly.

"We both liked Kagura, but she chose me. I fell in love with her, I was a blind fool." He sighed, "One night we went to a party, she handed me a drink. Later I found out it was everclear and fruit punch, after two cups I could barely sit up. She took me outside saying the fresh air would be good for me. Once we got far enough away from the party she let me drop to the ground right at Narakus' feet." He ran his free hand through his hair.

"She told me she never loved me , that I could never hold a candle to Naraku and that I would pay for hurting him."

"She was wrong," Kagome said softly, he smiled sadly at her.

"It started out with just punches and kick, then Kagura pulled out a pair of scissors. She wanted to cut all my hair off. But, I wouldn't stop moving long enough for her to cut anything. So Naraku took out a blade and stabbed me in the left shoulder. That's when Inuyasha came, he got them off me and they ran. An ambulance came and took me away to a hospital,"

"Kagura convinced the judge that Naraku threatened her into doing what she did and she got expelled from school. Naraku got put in jail for two years. When Inuyasha saw me like that I went from being his hero to a weak loser." He hung his head, "I have yet to prove otherwise."

She couldn't help the shock that showed on her face, `he really thinks he's weak.' She cupped his cheek and moved his face so he was looking into her eyes. "You are not weak, what happened to you was not your fault. And Inuyasha is in no position to judge."

"I know, I tried to stop it but it seems to be our curse, falling for the wrong women."

"That's everyone's curse, but someday we are able to break it and find something truly beautiful."

The corners of his mouth tugged upward into a slight smile and he leaned into her hand.

"Come on let's go home I have class at eight in the morning tomorrow."

They climbed down the tree and walked home with his arm around her shoulder and hers around his waist.

Okay so now everyone knows what happened with Kagura what a lil bitch right?

Sess: Your wrong Amber this Sesshomaru would never have fell for her act.

Amber: yeah yeah you're the great and powerful know it all
