The Bond Between Them

Chapter 4: Back to class

Disclaimer: Yeah we all know I don't own any Inuyasha characters if I did then this wouldn't be fan fiction now would it

A/N: So they all pretty much go to the same college, they decided they didn't want to separate after high school and managed found a college that offered everything they wanted.

Here are there majors :

Kagome - she's going for her teaching degree in English

Sess - he's planning on taking over his fathers businesses when he retires so he is a business major and minoring in architecture. His father runs a few businesses one is an architecture firm, another is a company in the music industry finding new talent and such, and the last is a small archeology group that he funds and sends around the world.

Inuyasha - Is in criminal justice and hoping to then move ahead to be in the FBI

Sango - is in criminal justice as well and minoring in forensics

Miroku - doesn't go to the same school but is at a near by campus studying to be a doctor

Kikyo - is a music major hoping to get big someday and her fall back plan is working in the industry

Sango and Miroku are also 22 years old

Sesshomaru woke up to the smell of vanilla and spring rain surrounding him. He felt her breathe against his chest in a soft rhythm.

He opened his eyes and smiled at her tousled hair. Closing his eyes he held her tighter against him.

"Morning sleepy," Kagome giggled, she went to get out of bed but he held her tighter.

`Why don't I want to let her go?' He asked himself

"Sessh I have class in an hour and you have one at noon." Kagome said.

He sighed, "If you must." He released his hold on her and watched her climb out of bed.

"I'm gunna take a shower then run to class, if you need me text me. I'll see you at school." She said then left the room.

Groaning he rolled out of bed and into the bathroom. After getting ready for the day he went downstairs to the kitchen and found a cup of coffee waiting for him. Sitting down at the table he began to read the New York Times.

****With Kagome at School****

"Hi Sango how was your weekend?" Kagome asked as she sat down at the picnic table with her.

"Not as eventful as yours was I'm guessing. I hear you were at Sesshomaru's for the whole weekend." Sango said smiling. She once couldn't understand how Kagome loved to be around the Ice Prince But, one day she caught them alone in the park and couldn't believe he was the same man that everyone knew in school, he was laughing and playful. After that she stopped calling him the Ice Prince and bugging Kagome about him.

"Yeah well it wasn't planned, but Yash and him had a fight so I figured I'd stick around and try to patch things up. Unfortunately, Yasha left that night and hasn't been home since." Kagome explained.

"He's probably at Kikyo's," Sango suggested.

"Yeah that's what I figured but I don't want to go there and I really need to talk to him." Kagome groaned out.

"That bad huh?" Kagome nodded. "Well he's in my history class at eleven so just come by after it ends I'll make sure he sticks around." Sango said grinning.

"When does your class end?" She asked.

"We should be out at 12:20 maybe a little later depending on the lecture length." Sango replied.

"Okay great, thank you so much Sango."

"No problem Kagome just watch out for Kikyo she sometimes waits for him outside of class."

"Oh man well I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it." Kagome groaned putting her head in her hands.

"Cheer up it could be worse," Sango tried.

"What she'll try and hurt me rather than just threaten me. You know she likes having him wrapped around her finger and she knows that I'm trying to stop that," Kagome said.

"She wouldn't touch you, if she did she knows both brothers would have your back.: Sango assured her. "Well its time for class," she got up and hefted he bag onto her shoulder. "I really hate criminal law. I'll see you later." Sango turned and left, Kagome soon followed suit going to her English class.

`I'm not so sure Yasha would have my back against her.' She thought sadly as she walked into her class.

Classes rolled on at an annoyingly slow pace for Kagome and finally she was standing in front of Sango's and Inuyasha's class waiting for the teacher to stop rambling and let them out. The only good luck so far was that Kikyo was nowhere in sight.

The class began to pack their books and leave. When Inuyasha stepped into the hallway she grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the side.

"What do you want Kagome?" Inuyasha asked, he seemed so weary, `maybe he does feel bad.'

"Well a hello would be nice." He looked at her a little shocked.

"Hey," he said softly.

"Hey back," she smiled. "Do you think we could go somewhere and talk for a bit."

"Yeah I guess, once the teacher leaves there wont be anyone in the class." Inuyasha told her.

"Great that works," she studied his face he seemed so tired. "Are you okay Yasha?"

"Yeah it was a rough weekend I just need to get some sleep." He told her putting on a smile that never reached his eyes.

They watched the teacher leave then entered the classroom. Kagome sat down on the floor. Looking up at Inuyasha who chose to lean against a desk. "What happened?" She asked.

"Kikyo called me up hysterical crying, I went to her house. She told me that Sesshomaru told her if he came near any of us again that the cops wouldn't be able to recognize her if they ever found her body. I was furious I didn't even bother to ask why he would say that. I just got in the car and went back to the house."

"And then you guys fought," Kagome stated.

"Yeah, I mean who goes around saying stuff like that to people." Yasha said.

"He meant well, what I said that night is true, he was only trying to protect you." Kagome said, placing a hand on his knee.

"What about the other thing you said that night? Is that true too?" He asked.

He seemed lost to her, "What do you think?"

Inuyasha moved to sit on the floor in front of her, his violet eyes searching her blue-gray ones for some kind of answer. "Kikyo wouldn't do that," he said finally.

"Who are you trying to convince more me or yourself," Kagome replied.

Inuyasha dropped his head into his hands, "I love her Kagome."

She pulled him into her arms and held him while his shook in silent sobs. "I know Yasha but look at you, you're hurting and if you stay with her you'll be hurting even more." She rubbed his back in slow comforting circles.

He eventually sat up from her embrace, "I can make it work." He told her, he was determined she knew it and it made her heart heavy.

"Okay, do as you wish but remember I'm always here for you."

He nodded and went to stand but she stopped him. He looked over to her and found what he was dreading. Her whole face seemed to harden.

"You're not getting out of the second part of our conversation." She said her voice becoming slightly sharp.

"Kagome…" He didn't know how to continue, how could he, she just didn't understand.

"What you did was low Yash, really low." She said putting a bit of pressure on his wrist.

"You weren't there Kagome, it is his fault that she left."

Kagome smacked him across the face, "your wrong Yash you are so incredibly wrong."

"How do you know? You don't, you weren't there."

"Mothers don't leave because of their children. I've heard you guys talk about her she loved you both. I don't know why she left but it wasn't his fault!" Kagome yelled. "How could you say that to him? You know he loved her and you know he was different towards people before Kagura so why say that to him?"

He dropped his head, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry to me, apologize to him."

"No, he's gotta face the fact that he is cruel to women." Inuyasha told her.

"You're joking right? You think he is cruel to women, what about me?" She couldn't believe he was talking like that.

"You don't count you're the only person he is more than just civil to."

"Your blind, you truly are he is friends with all of us and cares about all of us especially you. He always cared for you and looked after you. Just because he doesn't care to talk to the idiots in this place doesn't mean he is cruel. I don't know what Kagura did to him but I stand by him while he protects himself."

"That was one person years ago he should just get over it." Inuyasha said.

"How can he get over it if you and your father don't drop it. Your dad is always pulling the `I told you so' when they talk saying that it's his fault because he let down his guard and showed his emotions. You know sometimes I think your dad tells him I'm gunna do the same thing to him. And I know he has a hard time not believing it." Kagome said quietly.

Inuyasha put a hand on her shoulder, "you could never do what she did, he knows that."

"What did she do to him?" Kagome asked.

Inuyasha sighed, "it's not my place to tell you, you know that."

She nodded, "would you please apologize to him?"

"Yeah I'll apologize," he said as she hugged him.

"Good, now I think its time for some lunch," she said standing up.

"For you maybe but I got class in ten minutes, I'll see you later" He was almost out the door when she stopped him.

"He's not weak," she said softly.

"Not in most ways," before she could argue he left.

She sighed and shook her head leaving to go to the cafeteria.

After grabbing some food she sat down at a table where Sango waited patiently.

"So how did it go?"

"I got some progress, he's gunna apologize to Sesshomaru but he is still gunna stay with Kikyo." Kagome said.

"He will never learn," Sango sighed.

"He says he loves her but I think he knows that she doesn't return his feelings." Kagome said.

"He's a fool."

Kagome looked up to see Sesshomaru sanding above her with a tray of food. She scooted in so he could sit next to her. "He's only a little bit of a fool, all we can do is hope that he realizes his mistake sooner rather than later."

Sesshomaru nodded and began eating.

"So how was the club?" Sango asked.

Kagome giggled, "it was fun I got death glares from many girls."

Sesshomaru rolled his eyes, making both girls giggle.

"I can't believe you went Sesshomaru I remember you almost killed Miroku when you guys came back from Exit last time." Sango said.

"Kagome is hard to dissuade," he stated.

"Now come on Sessh you know you had fun." Kagome smiled at him.

He simply rolled his eyes and went back to eating while the girls giggled and gossiped about nonsense.

Yasha: <<from off stage>> Hey Amber where's the beer

Amber: I don't have beer you dope and no ones allowed to drink until the stories over

Yasha: Well get movin wench

Kitty: Um yasha that's my nickname not hers

Yasha walks away grumbling something about retarded sisters
