Kagome lay upon the bed, in the trance-like sleep that Kaede induced her into….

Kaede put the finishing touches to the mixture she was making, putting it aside and looking at Sango and the monk, she cleared her throat,” I would ask you to leave Miroku, but only to just outside the door, Sango will ye assist me?”

Miroku nodded at Kaede, “As you wish it Kaede-san..” He stood up and bowed to her as he walked through the door, the rings on his staff jingling with each step.

Kaede turned to Sango, “I need for you to help me undress her…” she looked Sango straight in the eyes conveying the seriousness of this situation…

Sango blushed furiously, “O-Okay Kaede-san, I will help you…”

Kaede and Sango gently removed Kagome's school uniform, Kaede looked Kagome over, tisking at what she saw…

At the base of Kagome's back where the curve of her spine met her tailbone there appeared to be a glowing yellow mark…

the shape indescribable because it seemed to be constantly moving reshaping itself, when looked at straight on it blurred to the point of not being…

but when looked at out of the corner of your eye you could see it in all it's brilliance…

Kaede looked at Sango…

“Do you see the mark Sango?” Kaede said while looking at Sango, she reached for the elixir she had been mixing…

“Yes Kaede-san.. but only barely.. it keeps blurring when I look at it directly…” Sango looked at Kaede, and gasped…

… seeing the mark clearly, its constant shifting disconcerting for the hunter…

Kaede reached a finger into the elixir and while looking at Sango she gently applied the elixir to the mark, as she applied it Kagome started to arch her back as the mark started to hiss at the contact of the elixir…

Sango grabbed Kagome's shoulders to hold her still as Kaede finished applying the elixir.

When the elixir was finished the mark stopped shifting, it stopped hissing, and Kagome stopped moving.

The mark when it stopped, changed in color from yellow to dark blue-black, it was shaped like a butterfly.

The tiny filaments of the wings as clear as if the artist of the mark was able to transfer the image of the indigo colored insect to Kagome's skin in such perfect detail.

Kaede started to chant in a high sing song voice, while moving around Kagome on the bed, she sped up the metronome, to a faster pace.

Sango started to get dizzy listening to Kaede, she stared at the mark on Kagome's back, and gasped yet again for the second time in minutes…

The Butterfly started to move on Kagome's skin, it flew up to her neck … and onto her shoulder… then stopped and turned silver and seemed to rest there…

Kaede stopped chanting…

When she stopped the butterfly stopped moving at the same time.

The pealing of tiny silver bells rang throughout the yard… A young girl danced surrounded by silver and indigo butterflies, the sunlight applying golden sun drops to the green of the trees…

The young girl her long hair bluish-black, it had streaks of silver running through it…

An older woman stood nearby looking out the window crying out to her..

“Dinner time Kagome…” the woman sighed in frustration as she watched her daughter laughing at things that were invisible to her… “Kagome! Come inside…”

Kagome laughed a light tinkling laugh, “but momma I want to stay…. The butterflies share such beautiful stories…”

She skipped up to the house and went inside... The door sliding shut.

In a space between the worlds, a grating laugh echoed.

“It has been a while… “

The laughter rang out again…
