InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Canvas ❯ The Beginning (part 2) ( Chapter 2 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Ok the second installment, as you might be asking why “the canvas”?
I would answer it is because a canvas is blank and is able to be either dark or light, used for good or evil…

Also I don't own Inuyasha, Rumiko Takahashi does, please don't sue me…

The Canvas- Chapter 2

Kagome walked her bike across the crosswalk along the way to school, the path her mom printed up for her from the school system highlighted on the map with small instructions and tips. Aw mom… she was so sweet sometimes… but so cloying with her super protectiveness… She was humming the song that she heard in her dream, her eyes started to glaze over as she pushed her bike along, suddenly stopping in the middle of the crosswalk... people pushed by her not noticing her as she started to fall backwards…

Just before she hit the ground she was pulled forwards by a set of strong arms, into a strong muscled chest...

So warm, hard...mmm

“Oh my fair maiden, are you ok?? “ Kagome blinked twice and looked up at the face of the person holding her, she was met with violet eyes with dark black eyebrows over them, and an easy smile that was glowing in her direction sending what looked like a look of concern. Then she felt it… a hand on her butt squeezing…

Kagome's face turned bright red... her eyes flashed, she pushed away from the young man and she slapped his face screaming, “Pervert! How dare you!”

The young man hit the ground; Kagome grabbed her bike up from the ground, and started to stiffly walk forwards.

“Tried to cop a feel on another girl Miroku??” A young woman's voice softly stated in sarcastic tones, “At least you didn't try it on me again, I would knock you into next week... heh” She extended her hand to Kagome.

Hello I am Sango. You've just met our resident perverted monk, one of a few, although he will blame it on his `cursed hand'.”

Sango stood at about 5'6” wearing the customary school uniform, except for small differences, she was carrying a giant boomerang on her back, and skirt was a lot longer than most girls, almost to the ground. Her hair was held up in a high-ponytail by a small sparkling pink hair tie. To Kagome she appeared to be her savior someone who knew more about this situation, and may be able to save her with the information she held…

Her uniform looks a lot like mine…. Maybe she goes to my school??

Kagome shook Sango's hand, “Hello my name is Kagome… I am going to school... do you go to Sakura high school? “Kagome tilted her head to the side smiling lightly. ….We could be friends…

“You could say something like that,” Sango smiled back, “hold on a sec... lemme go grab the hentai before he gets ran over...” She walked out into the street to scoop Miroku up and then deposited him near a wall, with a sign that said, “Draw on me” and left some markers… She giggled lightly and turned to walk with Kagome.

“You new here?” She raised a brow at Kagome, “You should be careful of him….” She went on to say some more, when her voice was drowned out, by the sounds of several motorbikes rolling up along side them.

“Hey baby how about you let me give you a ride to school? I promise it will be real good…” Laughter rolled from the boys on the bikes along with the strong scent of their cheap cologne… Their bikes had the picture of giant white dogs on the sides… the riders dressed in leathers of various colors.

One rider in the middle stopped when he saw Kagome, he was dressed in red leathers with a white helmet…

Then a siren rang out… one that hadn't been heard in years.. That siren meant an attack was happening somewhere far off, from the distance the siren was echoing from…

All the people in the areas shut their stores along the road closing the windows and pulling down gates that seemed to glow..

“Youkai Attack!! Hide! “Someone screamed out along with a gurgling sound as the scream was stopped as their throat was crushed by a large clawed hand and thrown into the street, much like a gauntlet to start a duel.

Sango grabbed Kagome's hand pulling her with her to the school; she threw her into the courtyard, around the corner the gated entrance, just as the boys on the bikes came roaring into the area.

“Get into the building Kagome! You will be safe there! “ Sango turned towards the gate pulling at her boomerang off her shoulder and at the same time unlatching her skirt and top to reveal the outfit of a hunter… She pulled on a silver mask over the lower part of her face, muttering “ I suggest you run.. Now…” She looked over her shoulder as she saw Kagome stop dead in her tracks and stare out the gate…

“Bring it on! Sango shouted out, she stood in attack mode, staring at a horde of lesser demons, once peaceful beasts they were possessed by something evil that sent them into a blind rage and they attacked everything that they could…

Sango was joined by the monk from earlier, he had marks all over his face, some were phrases and some were pictures of random rude things… he glowered at
Sango for a second. Then he pulled out his staff… and spun it around the rings on it jingling like tinny bells, he stabbed the razor sharp point into the ground and started to chant, a bubble of bluish tint covered the school, the people in it hovering near the windows, watching from afar offering silent prayers of success.

The horde moved forward almost as one, “Hirakotsu! “ Sango shouted as she spun and released her giant boomerang, it sliced through several of the lesser demons flying back towards Sango, she caught it effortlessly. Then she let it fly again as a giant flying serpent came at her, she threw a smoke bomb at it, releasing a small concussion bomb along with it, to knock some of the demons off their feet. She caught her boomerang again using it as a shield as the demons rushed her she sliced at them with her katana, and then another figure joined her to fight off the demons.

This new figure smaller than her clad in the same hunters outfit but green where hers was pink… it had a scythe on a chain, the figure flung out the scythe pulling it out of a nearby demon with a sickening slurping sound, only to fling it out again to lop another demon's head off. The figure had his back to Sango's helping her every so often when they were overwhelming...

They are going to get hurt;someone needs to do something...

Then as if her thoughts were heard Kagome watched as another figure jumped down, this one all in black with a cape of silver hair flying out behind it jumped in front of Sango and the mysterious figure... Kagome squinted at it… it pulled up a huge sword then screamed out a phrase a large ball of light flung out of its sword destroying all the demons, and tearing a hole in the ground…

Kagome couldn't look on anymore… she turned away from the bright light, then when she felt the heat disappear she turned back to see Sango thrown over the body of the smaller figure, and Miroku still chanting. The smoke blew away … the sword wielding figure was gone, all traces that he or she existed gone with all the demons, nothing but sparkling dust, and a gaping hole in the street remained.

Miroku stopped chanting, the bubble seemed to retract from covering the school, and Kagome ran to them, “Are you guys ok?”

“Yes fair maiden... I am ok, I am grateful that you are so concerned for my welfare...” Miroku put out his arms to accept a hug from her...
Kagome kept running past him... Miroku fell over to his side on the ground…
Kagome reached Sango... Sango stood up, and dusted herself off saying, “Yes we are ok… “She looked down, “this is my brother Kohaku, as you can see we are hunters, trained to fight demons, I do not just go to your school, I protect it as well. My brother here, he goes to the primary school down the street, he saw the demons, and came to help me…. “

Kagome's eyes sparkled as she spoke next, “Thank you Sango and Kohaku. Who was the other person that came to help? He seemed so …” Kagome paused thinking... her eyes glazed over and she fell to the ground for the second time that day.

“Kagome! “ Sango cried out as she reached her just before her head hit the ground, her body shivering in the warm air…

Sango sighed as she gently picked her up, “Kohaku head back to your school, and you know how to get me if you need me… Get up monk… we need to get her to the nurse.” Sango walked by the prone monk who still lay on the ground, his left eye twitching…

The nurse's office was behind the school… settled in by a small forest. Sango carried her unconscious bundle gently, then knocked at the door gently, “Hello? “

A gentle but gruff old voice called out, “Come in Sango! Did you hurt yourself again in your spar with your brother-“the voice gasped, “What happened here child?

“Kaede-san there was an attack the first one in years, as you heard, this girl here was caught near the battle although behind shields we think she may have been attacked... she fainted earlier before the battle and again shortly after it ended…” she looked at Kaede, the old nurse.

Kaede stood at about 4'9” she had long grey hair pulled back into a tight queue, she had a patch over her left eye, and her one good eye was a dark chocolate brown, her weathered face turned to look at the bundle in Sango's arms she directed her to put Kagome on the bed in the center of the room. The walls around the room were filled from top to bottom with random books, scrolls and bottles of healing medicines, the one piece of technology was a computer that was given a small part of the corner begrudgingly…

As Sango lay Kagome down on the bed, Kagome moaned, Kaede opened her eyes shining a small light into them. Kagome's eyes fluttered open as the light was going to the side, she looked straight up at Kaede and shrieked…

“Where am I!” She straight up as she said this and looked over and saw Sango near the bed to her left who gently smiled at her.

“Calm down Kagome, this is the nurse's office, her name is Kaede…” Kagome turned her head to look at Kaede in apology.

“Pardon me Kaede-san I did not mean to alarm you. Sango why am I here? “ She looked at Sango.

“You fainted again, I figured it would be best to bring you here….” Sango looked at Kaede.

“Kagome, do you normally faint like this? Is this normal for you child? “ Kaede reached out to Kagome with a stethoscope in her hand, she squinted when she looked at Kagome and gasped.

“No Kaede-san it is not normal for me… I just moved here, I.. . I am nervous about being at a new school, maybe that's it…” she giggled nervously…

Kaede turned to rifle through her shelves… “You say it's not normal hmmm… “ she continued looking.. “ ah here it is.. “ She turned with a book, she started to look through it, the pages were yellowed with age and seemed to crackle as
Kaede turned the pages gently.

“When I look at you I see something odd…” Kaede lit a candle that released a soft scent through the room. She closed the curtains… “You just arrived here too…”

“Sango how long has it been since we have had an attack? “ Kaede asked.

“Five years Kaede-san, maybe more” the answer came from Miroku, who had been silently sitting in the corner he was sitting on a small dais that held him above the ground by a few inches, “the attack this morning is the first in a long while.. but it was expected.. to happen.. don't ask me how…”

Kaede set up a small metronome, she set it to a slow tempo, it's ticking the only thing heard for a few moments…

Sango spoke first… “You think maybe Kagome has anything to do with the stories??” She looked at Kaede, who looked back at her and tilted her head as she started to mix herbs with a pestle and mortar, the herbs releasing a pungent smell that was barely covered by the scent of the candle. Kaede had tilted her head towards Kagome, who was sitting there looking at the flame of the candle humming a soft tune, to the pace of the metronome.

Sango watched as Kagome hummed her eyes staring, staring unblinking at the flame, humming the tune. Kaede stopped mixing and poured the mixture into a small cup then pour distilled water over it…

Miroku saw Sango's look of confusion and explained for her, “Kaede sees that there is a yellow circle of mist around Kagome's head, she sees the yellow fighting with a silver mist, she is mixing an elixir that will stop this battle..”

“Kagome, “ Kaede spoke to her softly, “ Have ye ever felt `not right' or unbalanced? I know your grandfather is a priest so you have heard of evil spirits, of demons and of priestesses, and magick… have you not? “

Still in a trance Kagome answered, “ Yes Kaede-san I have felt often unbalanced… my grandfather…” Kagome stopped and leaned back… her head falling to the pillow…

A younger Kagome stood playing a game with her mother, she was playing `hide and go seek' .

Kagome climbed into the attic of her grandparents house, Mommy will never find me up here… hee hee … she continued to crawl around in the attic covering her nose so she wouldn't sneeze.. she bumped into a door, a door that shouldn't be there.. she heard a soft music playing, when she opened the door the music got a little louder, she stepped into the room, where there was a small mirror, in it was her reflection. She touched the mirror, it seemed to sing when she touched it, when she released it , it stopped, she touched it again.. then she was shocked and knocked unconscious.

She woke up a few minutes later she was back in the attic the door gone.. and she went downstairs to a very upset mother…

The next day while shopping with her mother she fell into a fit, she was scared she kept seeing animal people, a golden people, and people with wings… When she told her mom she just told her to stop telling stories… She stopped telling them to her mother but when her grandfather heard about these stories he would encourage her to tell them to him.. one day her mom came upon them talking about this and her grandfather and her mother had a huge argument..

“I believe it is a blessing sent by the Kami's … why do you not believe this?” her grandfather shouted.

“It's making her look like she is crazy, a weirdo that can see strange things..” her mom sighed and turned to the door… “we will be leaving soon…”

A few days after that they moved away from her grandfathers house, Kagome started going to doctors… she saw several for the first few years, none of them could find anything wrong with her, they couldn't make her visions go away. Then one day her mom came home with information about a way to take away the visions, they went to a doctor who gave her mom a box..

….a box with herbs and medicines, that held a way to suppress her visions. . .
