Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha. But Ikinezumi is mine.

A/N: I really hate giving Kagome’s mother a name, but I felt more stupid calling her mamma. So I gave her the name Maya. Other than that, I don’t have much to say about this chapter other than enjoy! Also, I’m sorry it took a few to get this out. Last week was super busy and I didn’t get a chance to get to it. AND PLEASE R&R!

Last time:

Kaede stood and grabbed a piece of cloth off a shelf and handed it and some twine to Kagome. “Here Child wrap it in this.”

Quickly Kagome refolded the haori and tied it up in the cloth and twine right as Inuyasha burst in the hut. “Kagome, tell your SON that ten rabbits are enough! He doesn’t believe me that you don’t need that much, and he’s going to kill off all the game.” Inuyasha said with a proud smile. Kagome deposited the package in Sango’s lap and whispered in her ear.

“Watch this for me until I can hide it.” Kagome then stood and rolled her eyes at the hanyou as she stormed out the door. Inuyasha nodded to the other two women and followed suit. Sango turned to Kaede and smiled.

“So. Lady Kaede? I haven’t gotten to tell you I’m with child have I?”

“Oh Sango! That is such wonderful news. I would believe Miroku is giddy with happiness.” Kaede replied as she hugged the young youkai slayer though she already knew about Sango like she did Kagome, she allowed the young youkai slyer the joy of telling her. Sango blushed remembering the night before.

Chapter 9: Ghostly visits

Maya, Jii-chan and Souta sat around the kitchen table enjoying their breakfast. Souta looked at his elders and sat back. He turned to his mother.

“So tomorrow is the big day for Sis, huh?”

Maya sat her newspaper down and looked at her son. “Yes it is. It’s a shame though, we can’t be there with her. Then she wouldn’t have to have two ceremonies.’’

“I would also like to see if this miko she speaks of is respectable,” Jii-chan piped up.

“Oh Jii-chan!” Souta exclaimed while rolling his eyes.

Maya thought about it for a minute. “You know, we never have tried to go through the well.”

Jii-Chan asked, “Do you think that would be wise to try?”

“Yeah! Let’s try it!” Souta jumped up and said enthusiastically.

“OK it’s settled! Let’s clean up things in here and pack a few items, in case it works, and give it a try.”

Jii-chan huffed as he raised to his feet to help the others clean up. He brought some dishes to his daughter who was washing them. “I don’t like the idea of this,” He said as she just smiled at him.

The three made quick work of cleaning and began packing a change of clothes for their trip. Maya stood in front of her dresser, gazing at a jewelry box on the top. She sighed and gently lifted the lid. She reached into the box and pulled out a pair of wedding rings. The rings where white gold, with vines and leaves carved on the outer part of them. The inside was engraved with the inscription, “May our love be as a circle, never ending”. She held them in her palm and touched them with the tips of her fingers from her other hand. “I hope our rings fit Inuyasha and Kagome,” she thought. She placed the rings in the pocket of her bag and lifted the strap onto her shoulder and walked out of the room.

The three stood in the well house looking down into the seemingly endless darkness. All of them stood in silence wondering if this was such a good idea after all. “Well, there’s no time like the present.” Souta said, not realizing his pun, as he swung his legs over the edge of the well and jumped in.

Inuyasha was spending his afternoon soaking up the warm summer sun in the branches of Goshinboku, with Shippou lounging in his lap. The girls and the old miko, were busy at Kagome’s hut adding all the final touches on the wedding plans. Miroku, was spending his day haggling for livestock, consisting of chickens a cow and a mule. The warm breeze sifted through the hanyou’s hair as the smell of cherry blossoms and…

Inuyasha’s eye’s pooped open and he sat up almost throwing the kit to the ground. He sniffed the air again as Shippou complained, “Papa….err…Inuyasha, What the heck is wrong with you?”

“Can it twerp! And from now on it IS Papa to you.” Inuyasha fussed while tapping the kit on the nose. The hanyou looked back up, “How the hell did they get here?” he said as he deposited the kit on the branch and jumped down.

“Who?” Shippou said as he struggled to catch up with the Inu hanyou, though he was tickled and shocked he now officially had a Papa.

Inuyasha reached the bone eaters well and peeked in. Inside he saw three familiar people. “How did you guys get here?”

Shippou made it to Inuyasha’s shoulder and looked down into the well. “Who are those people…Papa?”

“They’re Kagome’s family.” Inuyasha said still confused. “How did you guys get in there?”

Souta, Maya and Jii-chan all looked up at Inuyasha. Souta gave him a smile, “DUH!! We jumped in the well.”

“That’s stupid! I mean, it never worked before.” Inuyasha said as he climbed down the vine to help them out of the well.

WE never tried before. And why is he calling you Papa?” Maya said pointing to the kit.

“Oh, this is Shippou,” Inuyasha picked the youkai off his shoulder depositing him in Maya’s arms. “Kagome told you about him. He’s an orphan. We kind of adopted him.”

Shippou squirmed as Kagome’s mother squeezed the life out of him. “He’s so cute!!” She giggled.

Inuyasha laughed and scooped Jii-chan up on his back to carry the old man out. The monks eye’s widened as he began to wiggle, lightly tapping Inuyasha on the head with his cane, “Don’t you drop me, you delinquent!”

“Oi, old man! Just quit movin’ around.”

The women were sitting around Kagome’s fire pit going over the details of the ceremony, when a knock came at the door. Kagome answered and there stood what looked like a servant. “My master, the village head, asked me to come and ask if he would be welcomed to come and congratulate you and your hanyou intended, at your ceremony.”

“Of course he is. But why does he want to congratulate US?” Kagome asked.

“He says this union is a symbol of peace that should be encouraged.” the man said.

“Oh, ok. I guess I’ll see him there.” She then waved good bye to the man and turned back to join her friends at the fire.

“What was that all about?” Sango said.

Kagome still looking confused, answered, “I’m really not sure.”

“The village head has been the master of this village for 10 summers and hasn’t been seen much in that time. But the village has been prosperous since he has been in command,” Kaede informed.

“Still, I wonder why Inuyasha and I are so important to him?” Kagome said looking off into nothing. Suddenly Shippou burst through the door.

“Okaa! You’ll never guess who’s here!”

“Shut it runt!” Inuyasha said as he came through the door. “Nashi, there’s someone here to see you.”

Kagome’s mother walked through the door. Kagome froze in disbelief. “Mamma?” The other two followed through the door. “Jii-chan? Souta?”

Kagome jumped up and hugged her family. They all laughed and cried. There was so much commotion over it all. When Miroku showed up with Kirara that evening, they all sat around Kagome’s fire and told stories late into the night. Kaede and Jii-chan worked out the ceremony where they would both conduct it.

Kagome tiptoed through the main room of her hut past her sleeping family, clutching the package that held the black rat robes. It was very late in the night but she still knew where to find her hanyou. She stepped off the bottom step of the porch and turned back around to face the hut. She looked up at the roof and whispered, “Inuyasha. Are you there?” The hanyou, in the blink of an eye, was standing in front of her.

“What are you doing out here?” he said.

She dropped her package at the startle and sighed. She went to bend over and pick up the gift but was stopped when Inuyasha pulled her into a firm embrace and kissed her. He brought his hand to her cheek letting his fingers get lost in the sea of black that was her hair. Inuyasha pulled away and ran his finger the rest of the way through her hair. “This has been a very long week. Not having you to myself, with all this planning, has been pissing me off.”

“You have such a way with words.” Kagome said rolling her eyes, but still giggling. “I have something for you.” She reached down and picked up the package and deposited it in Inuyasha’s hands. He opened the parcel and pulled out the black rat haori.

“What is this?” He asked as he sniffed at it.

“It’s a haori and hakama made from the black rat Ikinezumi. It can reflect everything the fire rat can only it can reflect spiritual attacks also.” Kagome shuffled her feet in the dirt finding them to be very interesting at the moment. Inuyasha took Kagome in his arms and kissed the top of her head.

“Thank you. My mother is the only one who ever gave me anything like this before.” He paused for a moment as a thought came to him, “I want to give you my fire rat”

Kagome looked up at him, “Really? But I don’t think it would fit. It would be too big.”

“It has a spell on it. It adjusts to the owners size.”

“I’ve worn it before and the size didn’t change.”

“I lent it to you, I didn’t give it to you. You know, I’ve been wearing it since I was a kid.”

“Oh.” she whispered and her eyes softened, “Thank you.”

“Keh! You need protecting anyway. Hold this” He said as he handed the new haori and hakama it Kagome. She took it, and he scooped her up and ran to the back end of the hut to climb in their bedroom window. He sat her down and she watched as he dug through her chest. He pulled out a white shirt. It was in the style of a typical Japanese button down. It had the high collar and was embroidered with cranes and dragons, also in white. “I want to where them now. Put this on under the haori.” He said as he gave her the shirt. He scooped her up again and crept out the window.

He took her to a secluded part of the woods. He set her down and took the new black rat clothing from her. He began to untie his haori when she put her hands on his to still them.

“Wait! I want it to be a surprise. Go behind that bush.” She said, as he rolled his eyes. Though he agreed to the silly request, if it made her happy.

He went behind the bush and began to take off the fire rat clothing. He held the robes out from the bush for Kagome to take. She then went behind another bush to change as well. Once she got the fire rat clothing on, she looked in amazement as the haori fit tightly to her chest and torso. The sleeves where shorter, fitting at her wrist and seemed to be slightly more narrow. The hakama had shortened to fit at her ankles, and the width of the legs was a little narrower as well. The high collar of the white shirt seems to bring the whole thing together. It looked like it was made just for her.

“Oi, wench! You changed yet?” Inuyasha’s voice came from the other side of the bush. Slowly she stepped around. They were both stunned with each other. Inuyasha looked deadly and inviting all at the same time. The deep black seemed to project his strength. And the white of his hair jumped out from the depths of black. The gold trim made his golden cat like eyes more prominent

Inuyasha, was immediately turned on by seeing Kagome in his fire rat clothing. “You look beautiful.” He said.

“You don’t look too bad yourself.” She said as she rubbed the fabric on his chest, almost mesmerized. “Do you like it?” She asked as he grabbed her hand and kissed the palm.

“I love it. And I love the fire rat on you.”

“I love it on me too.” She said smiling. He kissed her passionately. Love making was on his mind when a very unpleasant sent hit his nose.

“DAMN IT!!!! WHY IS IT EVERY TIME I HAVE A CHANCE TO BE WITH YOU SOMEONE FUCKS IT UP!?!?!?” He yelled.

“What is it?” She asked, not knowing if she wanted to know the answer.

“It’s Sesshoumaru, that fucking bastard. What does he want?” Inuyasha said as he let Kagome on his back and ran to a small nearby clearing.

As he reached the little empty patch of grass, he sat Kagome down and drew his sword as the Inu no Taisho came into view, from the trees across the way.

“Stay back Kagome.” He said over his shoulder. When Sesshoumaru stopped, a few yards away, he yelled at his estranged brother. “What the hell do you want Sesshoumaru?”

“This Sesshoumaru, came to finish what Naraku interrupted. Today will be the day you die half breed.” Sesshoumaru said just as stone faced as ever.

Sesshoumaru turned his nose to his brothers mate, “I see, miko, that you have let that waste of space, defile you. It’s a shame,” He turned his head to Inuyasha, “And I see, Inuyasha, that you have dishonored fathers’ blood more, by planting your seed in that miko. The pup doesn’t deserve to live.”

“You son of a bitch!” Inuyasha said gritting his teeth.

Kagome was stunned. “Inuyasha, did he just say what I think he just said?” She placed a hand on his shoulder as she placed the other over her womb.

Inuyasha flinched but didn’t look back at her.

“Am I…?”

“Yes.” The hanyou said solemnly.

Kagome took a couple of steps back and fell to her knees on the ground, still holding her belly. “Inuyasha, Why didn‘t you tell me? I should have known, I was right!” She thought.

Sesshoumaru, smirked and laughed quietly, “She didn’t know? Just like a pathetic human.”

“Shut your fucking mouth, bastard.” Inuyasha yelled.

Sesshoumaru drew Toukijin and pointed it at the hanyou. “Why don’t you try and stop me?’’

The two ran at each other and the blades of their swards slammed together, a display of energy crackled over their bodies.

“INUYASHA!!!” Kagome yelled as she watched the father of her child engage in a fight with his brother.

Sesshoumaru, quickly deflected Inuyasha’s strike and, in the blink of an eye, he sheathed his sword and struck Inuyasha with his deadly claws.

The inu hanyou flew back as blood poured from his chest where his brothers claws tore at his flesh. He staggered to his feet as his anger mounted. That bastard told Kagome about their pup! It was HIS place to be the one that told her. And now he has threatened his mate and child as well as his own well being. Never again! He told himself.

Again Inuyasha charged at the Tai youkai and their blades smashed together. Power surged all around them and the clearing they occupied.

As the two pushed against each other, a small blue light began to form between the two blades. The men didn’t pay any attention, as the light became a bright blue ball. “This Sesshoumaru will erase what should have never been!” The Inu no Taisho yelled at the hanyou.

Inuyasha yelled back, “Go to hell”

“Not before you half breed.”

The blue light grew brighter. A voice was heard.

ENOUGH!!!!

The blue light flashed like lightening and sent the two flying back. Slowly a figure appeared from the blue light as the two inus rose to their feet. Kagome began to run to her mate but stopped and stared at the figure.

The figure was obviously Inu. Dressed similar to Sesshoumaru and shared a few of the Inu no Tashio’s features, though he looked strikingly like Inuyasha. His long silver hair was pulled up into a pony tail. No doubt, to keep it out of the way in battle. He was a fierce, and regal looking being, covered in an unearthly blue glow.

Inuyasha trailed his eyes to his brother. He looked at Sesshoumaru stunned. The Inu youkai bowed on one knee, lowering his head to the ghostly being. Slowly, Sesshoumaru looked up, “Father.”

Inuyasha bugged out his eyes and looked again at the ghost. “Father?”

The ghost looked at his son and smiled. “Yes. Inuyasha.”
