Chapter Two
The next few days, Kagome spent showing and explaining her world to Sesshomaru. Why she was doing it, she couldn't figure out. He did seem genuinely interested though, and almost seemed as if he was developing feelings. He didn't seem as cold as he usually did, and seemed almost friendly. Also, she could swear he seemed extra kind to her. Almost as if he didn't want to earn her dislike. It was flattering, unlike that Inuyasha who left her whenever Kikyou was around, and always seemed mad when she wanted to leave to go home. Also, he was always jealous, inconsiderate, and insulting. Sesshomaru seemed more…human.
This Miko. She reminded him of Rin, except she showed more a range of emotions and the expressions she showed were more pronounced then Rin's. She was so adorable. Wait. Was he, Sesshomaru, falling for this girl? He couldn't be. He was only learning about this world and being nice to her to better understanding humans, and better to understand Inuyasha's human side, and destroy that hanyou. Although, it might just be better to keep this girl by his side. She could help care of Rin, plus she had special spiritual power, not that he couldn't defeat any youkai that came by.
Right now though, she seemed to be staring at him, and started to giggle. How cute that giggle was…
Kagome had decided to take Sesshomaru to the movies-a horror movie or action movie she thought. It would be funny to see how he would react to those. She smiled and giggled as she thought of it. She now noticed that he has his cool amber eyes turned on her, but yet, they looked softer somehow. He seemed amused by something.
“Hey. I'm going to take you to a movie today. It's like…well; I guess you could describe it as being a bystander watching a battle. We'll be sitting down in chairs, while people will be moving, doing things, and going places on a flat surface is a way to describe it I guess. Oh. When you are there, don't talk or do anything. Just watch please.”
“A battle taking place. Are these people battling over the Shikon jewels, or battling over land? Why would we be watching one instead of participating?” Normally he wouldn't bother with human battles, but this must be important if the Miko was taking him there.
Kagome groaned. On second thought, maybe a romance movie…or drama. Sesshomaru might just go up and try to kill someone or damage the theater. Nothing could possibly go wrong with a movie containing human emotions. He might even start to show human emotions and no be so cold and indifferent all the time. A smile crept onto Kagome's face. That would be a much better idea.
After traveling Kikyou's scent for four days, he finally caught up with her. Why was he following her? Why was he always drawn to her? He knew that he had hurt Kagome every time he went after her, but he just couldn't stop. After all, Kikyou was going to turn him human and perhaps marry him, but because of that and her eagerness for it, Narkau had tricked her and killed her. She was sent to hell, and Inuyasha got off easy; he was only trapped to a tree in a peaceful sleep for fifty years. Then, Kikyou had gotten resurrected and the only thing she could feel was the hate for him. He had to set her straight. He could never have a peaceful and successful life until he was sure Kikyou was at peace and didn't hate him anymore. He was sure Kagome could understand this, even though he had never told her this in words…
Kagome bought the tickets for some romantic comedy. She loved to see Sesshomaru smile. He looked so cute…she shouldn't be thinking that. She bought movie popcorn, candy, and pop-movie tradition. She knew how Inuyasha reacted to chips and Ramen…so what was Sesshomaru “Ramen”?
They went to find some seats…they should be away from everyone. It was really no problem, since hardly anyone was there. They sat down and gave Sesshomaru his pop, and some popcorn.
“What am I suppose to do with this? Why is there a hollow branch sticking out of it? And how am I suppose to eat this with no chopsticks…where are the chopsticks?”
Kagome giggled. “You eat the popcorn with your hands and you suck the straw to get out the pop…I'm sure you'll really like it.”
Sesshomaru lifted one eyebrow while looking at her, then looked at the pop. He sucked on the “straw” and the cold liquid that filled his mouth was most exquisite taste he had tasted, even with all the traveling and tasting he had done. Who would have imagined that humans, not demons could have invented this taste?
He heard Kagome giggling again next to him.
“Why are you giggling again?”
Kagome shook her head. “Never mind. Here, try the popcorn and try these. It's called candy.
Sesshomaru tried the popcorn…it was not anything special…unlike the “pop”. Next he would try the food in the box labeled “Sour Patch Kids.” The taste was…it was nothing he had tried before. In all the hundreds of years he had lived, he can never remember that his eyes have watered…except for when his father died, but that didn't count. His eyes watered and his face scrunched up. This food seemed to have a strange power over him.
He heard Kagome laughing beside him. “Is something wrong?”
A few seconds later, Kagome managed to croak out a “no”. Then the lights dimmed. Sesshomaru jumped up. His eyes turned red, and his nose began to elongate…
“Sesshomaru. Osuwari!” Kagome yelled instinctively. “Kuso! Um. Sesshomaru, this is supposed to happen.” Luckily for her the only other people in the theater were…a bit busy at that time, and saw nothing. Sesshomaru sat quickly down as his eyes tuned back to their normal amber color and his nose shortened again.
“Oh, and there will be loud noises and bright pictures showing up, so please don't go demon on me again. Just sit, and enjoy. Watch and eat.”
Sesshomaru smiled that adorable cold smile again. Oh, how she loved that simile. Inuyasha never smiled. Could he even smile? Inuyasha always seemed so sour-he hardly ever smiled, and hell, he always was yelling and insulting her.
Kagome had tried the “sit” command on him…did that mean she was mad? Of course, it did not and could never work on him, even if he did have Rosary beads around his neck like his baka brother Inuyasha. She had still yelled at him and even though he knew he should kill her for it and that it shouldn't affect him at all, he was depressed and ashamed. He didn't know why, or even why he was feeling these emotions at all. What was happening to him and his cold exterior that he could always hold before? He better just sit and watch like Kagome had suggested.
The hot kissing scene had just come up. How was Sesshomaru going to react towards this? In Feudal Japan, people didn't kiss in the open…did then even kiss that much at all? All she knew the rules about showing love in the Feudal Era had to be discredited, because after all, she traveled with the hentai Miroku…”Kagome, just glace over and see what his expression is” she thought to herself. She slowly glanced over at Sesshomaru wondering what she would see...
What were these two people doing? What was he watching? He had never seen anyone kiss in front of other people. His father had never even kissed anyone in front of him. Of course he, Sesshomaru, had kissed-nobody could resist him, but he could never have imagined what it had looked like. His cheeks started to feel hot, and he wanted to look at Kagome. What was happening to him?
Sesshomaru was looking at her now… and was he blushing? His amber eyes held her gaze. She couldn't take her eyes off of his. She could feel her own cheeks get hot. She wanted to kiss him, but did he want to kiss her….was he going to kiss her?
Wait. What was she thinking?! She couldn't do that! She had only known Sesshomaru for a few days. Yes she liked him, but she also liked Inuyasha. She suspected she started to know how Inuyasha was feeling with Kikyou and herself.
She quickly turned away embarrassed at herself. She better have Sesshomaru go back tomorrow. Why was he staying here? He couldn't really ever use the information about this time back for the Feudal Era…Why was he here?
Her smell was intoxicating. This movie was only fueling the emotions he had felt for Kagome. She was looking at him, now blushing. It seemed as if she wanted or was expecting something of him….maybe a kiss? He really did want to, but it didn't seem proper that a human and youkai mate or in human terms…marry. He despised humans in fact, so why did he want to pledge himself to her? He couldn't help himself. He started to lean over to gently brush his lips against hers…she suddenly turned away. Had he read her wrong? She did not feel the same way…
The movie was over. How could she have let herself give up her guard so easily? She hadn't done it with Hojo or Koga, so how could she for Sesshomaru? She couldn't just give up on Inuyasha like this. She had to get rid of Sesshomaru; send him back to his own time to be with Rin and Jaken.
“Sesshomaru” Kagome said questionly. “I think you should go back to your own time…” She couldn't bear to look at him when she said this and stared at the ground. “You have to go back really soon because…I am only going to stay here a few more days, and those days I need to prepare to be going back and concentrate on what I can catch up with school work, so I wont be able to show you around or teach you about this time period anymore.”
He would have started at her in shock, but he quickly put on his “cold indifference” face. He really did want to stay with her…she put a full warmness into his heart that Rin had only done a few times. He found himself wanting to spend time with her. He was very fond, if not in love, with her.
“Yes. I should have not stayed as long as I had. My kingdom needs attending to, and I had better be getting back to Rin and Jaken, if Jaken hasn't already killed himself from annoyance of Rin” trying for the first time to make a joke.
Kagome gave him a weak smile, and lead him to the Bone Eaters Well. She gave him some candy and lollipops to give to Rin. She looked, what he thought, with a sad face, and said “goodbye”. He really did not want to leave her, but to obey her wishes, he jumped in. This time, he did not see the blue and purple streaks. Just the same, he climbed out of the well. Kagome was at the well-her back was turned to it, and she was shivering. Was she cold? He climbed out of the well, and put his hand on Kagome's shoulder.
She had given him some lame excuse to send him back, and gave him lollipops and candy for Rin. She had also thrown in some Sour Patch Kids-Sesshomaru's “Ramen”. She had to admit that she really didn't want him to go, but she had to. Sesshomaru did not like humans, so why was she trying to kid herself and make herself think that he might actually like her?
After he had gone back into the well, she turned around. She started shaking, trying to hold back the tears. Then, she felt a hand on her shoulder. So, Inuyasha had finally come to take her back. She could not deal with him now…
“OSUWARI!” she angrily yelled while waiting to hear a loud crash and Inuyasha to begin swearing, but she heard nothing, and the hand was still on her shoulder. Slowly, she turned around. Sesshomaru was standing there, looking confused as ever. “I thought you had gone back” said a even more confused Kagome.
“The well would not let me. I went in, but yet when I climbed out, I was still here” replied Sesshomaru a little too quickly.
All Kagome could do was to stare. What was she going to do? She had to go back to the Feudal Era. How would this change history? How would Inuyasha react? Panic was washing over her. What was she going to do and say?
For now he would just have to stay here. Now that she had time to think about it, it was kinda funny. Inuyasha's reaction to Sesshomaru would be priceless. But she still had to get ready and go back to look for more shards.
