Well, I am back from camp, and I am sick. A camper gave me a very bad cold the last day of camp. So between blowing my nose and coughing, I got this typed up. I actually wrote this chapter while at camp. I missed my laptop so much *hugs laptop* Well, I hope this chapter was well worth the wait.

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter Sixteen: New Beginnings (a title! Finally!)

 

Sesshomaru walked calmly to where Kikyou had the fire blazing, and dropped a large boar at her feet... The problem was that it was only dead.

 

“Sesshomaru…in order to cook and prepare this for eating, it needs to be gutted. I do not carry any knives or anything else sharp with me. All I have needed was my bows and arrows.”

 

`All I have needed so far…my mouth is almost watering at the prospect of eating. How could it be that I am becoming more human?'

 

Sesshomaru gave her a strange look.

 

“I shall take it over here then and it shall be done.”

 

 

 

 

So she does eat after all, though how she survived without needing a knife to hunt then gut her catch he could not comprehend. Why also, was she now asking him to do it? He couldn't even understand why he was gutting it for her. Why for that matter did he hunt for her? Jaken and Rin caught or gathered then cooked their own food.

 

Speaking of Rin…she no doubt missed him terribly and Jaken would have ran away by now, if he didn't fear that Sesshomaru would hunt him down and slowly kill him for abandoning his duty for caring for Rin.

 

 

 

 

`Sesshomaru-sama still hasn't returned. I miss him so. Even playing with Jaken and teasing him has lost its interest. I hope he hasn't forgotten about his Rin…'

 

“Jaken? Has Sesshomaru-sama forgotten about his Rin? I want Sesshomaru-sama back now! I REALLY MISS HIM! Tears started cascading sown Rin's cheeks.

 

 

 

 

 

Rin was crying. Usually at this site, he would have ran away from her yelling at her about her stupid human emotions and how she was over reacting. Not to mention that the awful noise was hurting his delicate demon hearing and the smell of tears was assaulting his nose. This time…Sesshomaru-sama's absence was bothering him too. This time, he could not control his emotions and joined Rin in expressing her despair and feeling of abandonment from Sesshomaru-sama's absence.

 

 

 

`He's crying also?'

 

Rin walked over to Jaken and embraced him while they continued to admit their loneliness of having their Sesshomaru-sama gone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sesshomaru brought the meat back cut into nicely shaped chunks. Kikyou gave him a momentary glance of…appreciation Sesshomaru guessed. Se almost lunged for the meat after he set it down. Quickly she had it over the fire.

 

Sesshomaru hid a quick smile. The miko was starved. He had thought before that she didn't need to eat and had survived alone on revenge, souls, and mediation. Besides this seeming new development of hunger came also a changing to Kikyou's scent. There was still always the faint trace of grave dirt and medical herbs, but continuously the smell diminished as another distinctive smell ever more started to assault his nose.

 

Speaking of scent, the meat was done. He grabbed the cooked meat and handed it to Kikyou. She looked so hungry, but also worried and confused. She apparently decided to take a bite. As she started to chew then swallow, a green light surrounded her. Her soul collectors released their souls they were holding and turned different colors while also becoming transparent. They started flying madly around her then suddenly turned and flew straight into her body.

 

Kikyou then collapsed. Before she fainted, the words “Kami-a new soul?” could faintly be heard whispered from her lips.

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Why did you give her a new soul?”

 

“Yeah, why did Kikyou get a new soul?”

 

“Monkey sprites. I didn't give her a new soul. Somehow that body Urasua gave her combined with her Miko powers suddenly started to copy the attributes that made up her old soul, but since she was bent on revenge, the new souls she was unconsciously making was stored in her soul collectors. When she started traveling with Sesshomaru, the part of her soul that loves was drawn to her. When she finally ate, she was admitting that she wanted to be alive and human, so her soul collectors turned into each remaining attribute or emotion that made up her last soul and returned a new soul to her. It is like her old soul that her reincarnation, Kagome, has, but it has to be new because she cannot take back Kagome's soul. I'm guessing that because Sesshomaru didn't want Kikyou to be dead, he also helped her to become alive and human again.”

 

 

 

 

Kikyou awakened. `I have a soul? Wait…why am I laying on something soft? I thought I was traveling in the woods with Sesshomaru.'

 

She looked around to find a young human girl staring at her.

 

“Uh…where am I? And may I have some water and food? And how did I get here? Sis someone bring me here, or was I found?”

 

The little girl seemed excided that she had said something.

 

“Rin is happy to see that you are awake. Sesshomaru-sama…oh yeah! Sesshomaru-sama!” The little girl rand out of the room screaming for Sesshomaru.

 

`Sesshomaru allows this human girl to live with him? Perhaps there is hope after all.'

 

 

 

 

 

“Sesshomaru-sama! Sesshomaru-sama! The lady you u brought back has woken up. She also says she's hungry. Um…also, where is the pretty lady Kagome?”

 

He had said that he would bring back Kagome…that was before Kikyou had spent more time in his life. Rin would not question his decision if he just brushed off her question. Besides, his Kikyou was awake and hungry now.

 

“Jaken!”

 

“Yes Sesshomaru-sama?” In came scurrying the little green imp, then threw himself bowing at Sesshomaru's feet.

 

“Fetch food and drink for Kikyou.”

 

“Yes Sesshomaru-sama” said Jaken, and then he ran out to do his master's biding.

 

Sesshomaru then walked over to Kikyou's bedroom to see how she was doing. He was greeting by a smile on her face.

 

 

 

 

`Was that a proposal I just asked her? I do want to be with her…'

 

Kagome had a strange expression on her face-it was the one she wore whenever she knew that she had some quick thinking and explaining to do.

 

“So can we go on one of those fruit things when we get back to your time?”

 

“A date?” Kagome's face brightened up.

 

“Of course Inuyasha; I would love to. Speaking of my time…” Kagome too a deep breath. “I have a test tomorrow, and would like to stay for a few days to catch up and get ahead on homework.”

 

“Feh. I think you think this homework and tests are more important than looking for the jewel shards…” `and me' Inuyasha added silently too himself. “Let's go get your pack and take you to the well.”

 

 

 

 

 

I'm so proud of myself! I have a new chapter already started. Problem is that I am adding all of these problems, but I have no idea what the problems are, or how they are going to be solved.

 

 

Kix: Thanks…well someone will keep on reading even though it switched gears and now isn't a Kagome/ Sesshomaru fic…but what I don't get is why everyone wants it to be a Sesshomaru/Kagome fiction so badly…why is that?

 

J-Love: you know me….I am always impatient. And actually, yes…I am going with that idea. I write it so that there are little surprises here and there…you can guess what is going to happen-I give clues-then as the story progresses, the event works itself out.
