InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Deepest Disire ❯ Confusion in the Dark ( Chapter 7 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hello again! Thank you for all the wonderful reviews! I am sorry for being so lazy with this! ~_~ I have no excuse for not updating sooner, except that I have had volleyball camp all week! O well.

I will reply to all your reviews in the next chapter or so. Right now, I have to clear something up. I am well aware that the relationship between Sesshomaru and Kagome is going fast. I am sorry, but that is one of the things I need to work on. I always get excited and sometimes don't remember to fill in the stuff between the good parts. That is why they are both out of character a little. (A lot) ^_^ But as I write, I will progress, and hopefully, will become an author or poet someday. So, for now, just put up with it. This is rated pg13 for language and lemon maybe in this chapter. ^_^

Now, on with the story! (The poem is mine; you may not use it without my permission)

Chapter 6: Confusion in the Darkness

Kagome was in a nightmare. Darkness surrounded her, and evil creatures snapped. She started to cry and curled into a ball. When all seemed lost, a figure came against a light.

" I'm so confused," Kagome sobbed as she reached out for the figure. It slowly stepped back, smiling an unseen smile.

" Your confusion will save you in the end, young goddess," It stated softly. " I don't understand," Kagome mumbled into her kimono. The figure smiled again, as she took a step forward to kneel next to Kagome.

" You will not understand for a while, Kagome, but all this is your fate. The fate of everyone lies on you, and only you can decide who is to help. You need to be strong, Goddess. An evil is coming, and without you, it will destroy the whole world. You need to stop it!" It said a little forcefully. Kagome looked down at her hands.

" But, I am not strong!" Kagome cried out the figure. It moved back, frowning.

" You will not be strong till you bring forth the power from with in your heart! Without it, you are alone." It continued to step back.

" And if I refuse?" Kagome whispered.

" All of your loved-ones will die," The figure stated softly. " Remember this poem, for now I must part. Good luck, Goddess, Never give up." And then she disappeared. A dark evil is coming;

A world you all will fear.

Only one girl can stop it,

With one crystal tear;

A sacrifice needed,

Her life and her love,

And death does she part,

To the heavens above.

A warm light woke Kagome up from her violent dream. As she opened her eyes and started to move, she felt hands tighten around her waist as a clump of silver hair fell on her shoulder. She smiled, snuggling into the embrace, but keeping her eyes open as she thought. ` Do I really love Sesshomaru? Or does he just remind me of what Inuyasha could have been? It's been about a week since I left. Sesshomaru said himself that Inuyasha should arrive today, and probably want the shards and me back. But, should I stay here? I have a destiny to complete the jewel. What about this new fate? What about my family? O, I'm so worried!' Kagome tried to will the tears out of her eyes, but they came down freely, on to her pillow. She tried to dry them, but a hand came to her face and wiped them away. She turned around to face Sesshomaru, whose eyes were filled with concern.

" Why do you weep, love?" He asked gently as he kissed the remaining tears away. She tried to smile as him as she looked into his eyes.

" I…I just don't know, Sesshomaru," Kagome hugged him and put her head against Sesshomaru's shoulder. " I'm afraid…" She whispered. " That if I take a step forward and face everything, everything will fall apart. Afraid…that I will lose you, too," Kagome took her head off his shoulder and looked for support. Then, the poem suddenly made sense.

A sacrifice needed,

Her life and her love,

And death does she part,

To the heavens above.

Sesshomaru looked down at her, not knowing what would upset her so much. ` I will never let her go,' He thought fiercely. ` She will never lose me!' He hugged her possessively, inhaling her sweet jasmine sent. `If only the dumb-ass half-breed hadn't hurt her so much!'

" Kagome," Sesshomaru looked into her eyes that were held in a fearful helplessness. " I will always be there for you! I love you more than life itself! You have shown me that a future that I can live in peace and harmony with you!" He paused; the cold heart in him was no longer there. Only a warm one. " You have showed me love, Kagome. And I am internally grateful that I no longer have to be alone," Sesshomaru felt her tense after his words.

" But I will leave you," Kagome whispered. " When I dye, you will be alone… I will be alone. Why go through with that suffering when you can have a full-demon woman, who could stand up for her fears and live as long as you do!" She cried silently. Sesshomaru sighed. She didn't get it yet, did she? He took her face in his hand and forced her to look into his eyes.

" You know, no one has ever made me feel this way," He smiled. " You are my weakness, my love, I love you. That is why I am willing to give you my heart. You are not just a human. I can sense that you are different. Your challenging aura, your beautiful scent, you're all I could want. You're a Goddess sent by heaven." Kagome looked into his eyes with tears blurring her vision. Her dream plagued her mind.

" You will not be strong till you bring forth the power from with in your heart! Without it, you are alone." It continued to step back.

" And if I refuse?" Kagome whispered.

" All of your loved-ones will die," The figure stated softly. "Good luck, Goddess, Never give up."

` I have to be strong,' Kagome thought. ` At least for Sesshomaru… I have to try.' Kagome focused on his eyes and smiled. With renewed determination, her smile brightened as Sesshomaru looked at her strangely.

" Why the sudden change in your aura?" He asked. Kagome just smiled even more.

" It's just because I have worked out that for now, all I have to worry about is being in love with you," She stated. Sesshomaru grinned as he bent down and kissed her. She deepened the kiss, melting in his embrace and forgetting everything else. After a few minutes of kissing, Sesshomaru stiffened.

" He is outside the castle right now. Get your kimono on and meet me outside your room," He said, squeezing her hand lightly. " We will face him together," Sesshomaru kissed her head lightly before he left. It was then that she noticed a dark blue gown on the side of the bed. She quickly slipped it on and admired herself in the mirror. A bunch of light pink lilies adorned the bottom hem with vines en-twining them to the top of the waist. She liked what she saw. She would show Inuyasha how much he hurt her by showing him what he lost. She walked out of her room and looked Sesshomaru, who had put his mask on for the fight. He smiled lightly as they both walked outside, to find a steaming Inuyasha. As Inuyasha gazed at Kagome, she saw something different in his eyes. Anger, hurt, sorrow, and lust. ` O no,' Kagome thought as she looked to his side.

` Where's Tetsieiga!?' (A.N How do you spell that?) Kagome looked back into his eyes and saw him sneer.

" Looking for the sword, Bitch?" He asked wickedly, but angrily. " As soon as you left, it went flying away after you. I'm here to rescue you from that Bastard, get my sword back, and get the other half of the Shikon no tama. Then, when we get home, I'm going to teach you a lesson!" Inuyasha yelled. Kagome gasped as Inuyasha held up the other half of the Shikon jewel. " Guess Kikyo was a whole hell of a lot more useful than you. We got this in two weeks! That part you have took about two years to get!" Inuyasha laughed. Sesshomaru didn't like this at all. Inuyasha was acting like Naraku's twin, maybe even worse. His aura had changed dramatically since he last had seen him. The evil nearly was consuming him. Now, his power was stronger and could possibly kill Kagome. But he wasn't going to let that happen. He looked at Kagome who was trying her best to put an emotional mask over her face.

" I am never coming back with you, Inuyasha!" She yelled. " I will never forget the way you treated me and everyone else!" Kagome paused for the second, and then looking up to Inuyasha in shock. " What have you done to them?" Inuyasha grinned darkly.

" I only put them in their place where they belong. In hell!" He laughed as he watched her defenses crumble. ` I will have her soon enough,' He thought cruelly.

` No… they can't be dead!' Kagome's mind screamed. `How could he!?' Kagome felt tears come to her eyes, but tried to will them back. ` I will not give him the pleasure of seeing me cry!' She bit her tongue hard. ` I have cried enough for him already!' Kagome put her hand in the air, silently summoning his father's fang. A thick heated pulse shattered the air and it appeared in her hand. ` I will defeat him!' Kagome thought viciously. ` He will pay for what he did!' With all Kagome's control gone, she let a new power take over.

Sesshomaru felt the tremendous power radiating off Kagome, making him flinch. He saw her summon the fang, and amazingly enough, it came. ` She truly is a Goddess,' He thought. He glanced back at Inuyasha, whose face was written over in shock. Sesshomaru smirked as he got in battle position and waited to assist Kagome. But, Kagome did not wield the Fang. She only stood there, her eyes closed as energy continued to vibrate off her. Sesshomaru glanced at her worriedly. " Kagome?"

Bunches of lights burst off of her body, her eyes open, and blank. Suddenly, a blast of power came from her, knocking everything down with in a ten-mile radius. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were flung into the castle wall, the explosion of power too much. Luckily, the old castle still stood.

As the light disappeared, Sesshomaru looked at Kagome, astonished at what he saw. A Goddess had replaced the young girl. There she stood, long black hair cascaded down her back with silver streaks. A blue crescent moon adorned her forehead; just as blue claw marks decorated her cheeks. Pointy ears and claws were at the tips of her figures, the one hand still holding the Fang tightly. She wore a kimono just like Sesshomaru's, only blue. Kagome opened her eyes, a warm blue color of peace.

` She is an inu-demon now! But how?' Sesshomaru thought. Kagome looked around and saw the destruction. She looked at her hands, purely innocent to what had taken place.

Sesshomaru got up and walked over to her, well aware that Inuyasha was knocked out. ` Not for long,' He thought wistfully. He took his hand to touch her shoulder, and she looked up with confused eyes.

" You are a full-demon, Kagome. A miko inu-demon, one of the rarest, most powerful demons in the world," Sesshomaru smiled at her, she was not weak anymore. Kagome smiled back at him.

" Now we can live together forever," She said as she embraced him.

" Aw, how touching," Inuyasha smirked as he got up. " Too bad that you're coming with me!"

Kagome growled as she lifted the Fang up and transformed it. Jumping up at an un-human like speed, she cut the air into a cross. The air attack moving quickly at Inuyasha, he jumped away and landed safely beside a big whole. He growled, but grinned as he took a bottle out for his kimono. He threw it at Kagome, a poison filling the air around her. She tried her best to put up a purity shield, but was too late. Sesshomaru watched in horror as Kagome collapsed to the ground, coughing and holding her mouth. He growled at Inuyasha.

" You Bastard, You will pay dearly for hurting her!" Sesshomaru said deadly. Inuyasha sneered as he jumped into a tree.

" She is weakened, brother. And soon, I will have that Bitch at my command along with the shikon and sword. Then, I will be unbeatable!" Inuyasha laughed as he disappeared into the forest. Sesshomaru gave a quick look to where the half-demon left, before running to Kagome's side. She coughed hard, the poison settled in her lungs. She looked up at him with watery eyes.

" Where would he have gotten that poison?" Sesshomaru asked more to himself. Kagome frowned weakly.

" He probably stole it off of Sango, the demon exterminator who traveled with us," She guessed faintly. Tears filled her eyes " I let everyone down." Kagome looked up at the sky, slowly closing her eyes. " I have let you down." Sesshomaru picked her up and flew over to her room's balcony. He went in and put her on the bed, calling for the servants to bring an antidote. They fed it to her As Sesshomaru watched in thought. ` What could have caused her to turn into a demon?' He quietly sat down on the bed next to her. `The antidote will help, but she will have to rely on her own strength after.'

So he sat there, waiting, hoping that she would wake up. He made a silent vowel to destroy Inuyasha for what he had done and to restore the lives of the friends he killed. The Goddess would have happiness in the end.
