Summary: Inuyasha's demon blood takes control during a battle. After the battle his instincts take over. How will Kagome fair in this fiasco?

 

 

 

 

The Demon's True Instinct

 

 

Kagome watched horrified as the big bull demon they were fighting threw Inuyasha some yards away separating him from his father's fang, the sword that was his birth right, the Tetsusaiga. Raring down the demon charged Inuyasha as he stood up, piercing his sides with the long horns on his head. Inuyasha went to jump over the demon to reclaim his sword when he got a kick in the middle of his back sending him flying again.

 

Looking as though Inuyasha was about to loose consciousness Kagome ran forward to protect her friend. She aimed and fired with one of her arrows, managing only to piss the bull demon off more when she just pierced his shoulder. The said demon took off at a dead charge her way when at a split seconds notice Inuyasha jumped up in front of Kagome ending up getting gored right through the stomach.

 

Miroku, seeing what happened, pulled Kagome back, since his earlier efforts with the sutra's and his holy power proved insufficient with this foe, he put a barrier around himself, Sango, and Kagome, thankful that Shippo decided to stayed in the village this trip with a sick Killala.

 

Watching the battle from behind the barrier, they were all amazed when Inuyasha got up with his back to them and continued fighting. Within moments Inuyasha had gotten the upper hand and destroyed the demon. Thinking the battle was over Miroku dropped his barrier, Kagome went running to Inuyasha.

 

Just when Kagome was about to reach Inuyasha he turned revealing his red eyes and purple streaks on his cheeks, Inuyasha had turned demon. Kagome halted her motions when Inuyasha started growling. Behind her Miroku and Sango where yelling for Kagome to return to them. Kagome turned back to see that Miroku had resurrected another barrier. When she turned around she noticed that Inuyasha's growling had become louder, glancing back at him she noticed his attention was not on her, but the their companions.

 

Taking a cautious step forward Kagome tried speaking with demon Inuyasha, “Inuyasha, calm down, you need to pick up your sword, you need to come back to yourself.”

 

Inuyasha's eyes settled on her then, his growling lost a lot of its fierceness, sounding more like a growling purr than anything else. When behind her Miroku yelled out to Kagome again, Inuyasha disappeared from sight and reappeared right beside her. Wrapping her in his arms, smashing her chest to his, he glared at Miroku and growl, “Mine, my bitch.”

 

To say Kagome was dumb stuck was an understatement, demon Inuyasha had just declared her his, after three years of remaining with the hanyou, as his loyal companion, demon Inuyasha declared her his.

 

His grip on her body wasn't painful at all, however when Kagome tried to get loose so she could calm Inuyasha down, he spun his attention back to her, tightening his grip as well as sinking his fangs into her neck right under the hair line, while growling almost demandingly at her.

 

Kagome had learned a lot in her travels with Inuyasha, and she understood what the bite meant. Male youkai were always dominant by nature, and often time when in a pack, or with mate, the alpha male would subject a punishment onto another, hence his fangs in the back of her neck. It was a submission hold, one to show power, and command obedience. Kagome knew if she kept struggling, Inuyasha would see that as insubordination and could very well kill her for her discrepancies. Kagome knew the only way to get out of this hold was complete submission on her part.

 

With that in mind, Kagome lowered her head under his chin, letting her body go completely limp against Inuyasha. Then she let out a small pitiful whimper that she hoped he understood as an apology.

 

She let out a sigh of relief when Inuyasha released his hold on her, both his fangs and arms. Her relief was short lived however, when upon releasing her, Inuyasha grabbed her by the waist, threw her over his shoulder and darted with amazing speed away from the battlefield, and their companions.

Miroku and Sango watched in shocked amazement as Inuyasha disappeared from the battlefield with Kagome draped over his shoulder.

 

Miroku was the first to break the silence left after their departing friends. “Come Sango, we must catch up with them unless we want severe calamities to fall onto our dear lady friend Kagome.”

 

“No Hoshi, as much as I want to protect Kagome, right now the only think we would do is anger Inuyasha enough he might actually come after us with his claws. The only thing we can hope is that Kagome can withstand a mating with the demon form of Inuyasha.”

 

“Sango, you can't be serious, you and I both have seen on various occasions the bloodshed that comes from Inuyasha transforming into his demon counter part.”

 

“Miroku, that is why we can't intrude, his demon as declared Kagome as his, you heard yourself, and if we intrude, it would be like us trying to taking something of his away from him. Demon's are very possessive, anything they deem theirs is theirs, and nothing can prove otherwise unless they are fought over said property, and loose. We don't stand a chance against Inuyasha in this form, but Kagome still holds power over him with her sit command. If things get too much for her to handle, she can bring him back with that herself, she doesn't need us. Beside we both know that Inuyasha and Kagome both care very much for each other, even though they are both too pig head to admit it, maybe this is what they both need to cross that bridge into being with each other.”

 

“But Inuyasha is wild in that form, he-“

 

“Inuyasha is wild in any form, whether human, hanyou, or demon. He's fought all his life, it amazes me that anyone was able to get as close to him as Kagome has, he still keeps his distance from the rest of us, but Kagome got right under his skin and took up residence in his heart. Remember all the times he transformed in the past, every time you know as well as I that he was protecting Kagome when that happened. I think he recognizes all of us, but I know her recognizes her. I believe she will be fine Hoshi.”

 

“You truly believe this?”

 

“Yes the only thing we can do at this point is find the Tetsusaiga, and a place to bed down for the night until Inuyasha sniffs us out after he reverts back to his hanyou form.”

 

“How do you know so much, my dear Sango?”

 

“Monk, I was trained in all forms of demon behavior, even their mating instincts, which is what Inuyasha is portraying now.”

 

“My lovely Sango, your knowledge is very worldly.” Sango noticed the gleam in Miroku's eyes as leaned a little closer to her person, expecting to be groped, she shifted the weapon.

 

“Can it monk, lets just find the sword and set up camp.”

Kagome watch as the ground moved fast under the speed of Inuyasha running, greatly shocked from his declarations and swift escape with her coming along for the ride. He had never acted like this when he transformed before, though she never thought him a mindless animal in this state like Sesshoumaru like to point out, he had never behave quite like this before.

 

Inuyasha had always fought in this form, and Kagome believed it was to protect, like he did in all other of his forms, for instance the first time he fought to protect her from death, the second time with the Sesshoumaru, to protect himself when the Tetsusaiga was too heavy, the third time with the bandits that helped rape and murder women, as well as himself again against Sesshoumaru. The fourth time was when he was trying to get to his sword, he fought to protect himself so he could control his blood. Then at the dream castle he fought himself to stay in control. Every time after that he had fought to protect, so nothing in Kagome thought him to be a mindless murdering animal even in this form, just a highly aggressive, instinctively protective individual with extreme strength and power.

 

Kagome was brought out of her musings when Inuyasha gate slowed from rapidly fast movement to a fast walk, until he came to a complete stop.

 

Inuyasha set her down on her feet, and she took the opportunity to take in her surroundings. They were in the middle of the woods, in a small clearing with what looked like a small pond to one side and a small shack to the other, though it looked weather damaged, so it was safe to assume that the hut was abandoned.

 

Inuyasha left her standing where she was as he wandered into the hut, as if to investigate further, shortly reappeared in the torn door way beckoning her with his hand.

 

“Bitch, come inside, the nights grow colder and I don't want sickness to settle in on you.”

 

Kagome looked into Inuyasha's face, looking into his eyes, she saw nothing that made her fear imminent death, so she approached the demon, allowing him to escort her into the hut and out of the cooling night air.

 

Once inside Kagome realized that this hut was very much like Kaede's, a one room structure with a fire pit in the middle, though the size of this hut was less than half the size of the old priestess's.

 

When Inuyasha got her inside, he walked over to the side wall area where some logs were thrown haphazardly, picking up a few he walked to the fire pit, rubbing two logs together he started a fire that provide light as well as heat for the little shack.

 

“Bitch, warm yourself by the fire, and I'll hunt for dinner.”

 

Kagome settled herself by the heat source allowing the flames and heat to start warming her cooled limbs, and watched as Inuyasha went back out the torn doorway.

 

She let her mind wander over the past few years, back to when she first met Inuyasha and the rest of the gang. Through all the hardships, through all the fights, they as a group had remained strong, almost unbeatable, each having a different strength than the others allowing their group to be even stronger.

 

Kagome was smiling at her memories as Inuyasha reappeared in the hut with two fat, gutted, skinned rabbit ready to be cooked. He position the meat over the fire as he set back across from Kagome waiting for the meat to cook.

 

“Inu…Inuyasha, why have we came here? Why did we leave Miroku and Sango behind?” Kagome timidly asked not because she was afraid of him, she just didn't want him to get mad and wander off like he usually did. However, she was afraid she did just that when his ears lowered on his head, and he started growling fiercely.

 

“Bitch, we left because the pack was trying to keep you from me. I'm the alpha, I make the decisions in the pact, and they wished to separate me from my bitch, by putting you behind a pathetic barrier.”

 

“You mean you recognize us in this form?”

 

Inuyasha scoffed, “Don't be stupid bitch, I recognize you in my human form, why would my demon form be any different? Both are halves to a whole.”

 

“Then why did you take me and run off like that? Why didn't you just stay and pick up the Tetsusaiga?”

 

“Because bitch, incase you didn't notice, I got a big ass hole in my stomach during the fight, and even as strong as I am in my hanyou form, this injury would slow me down a lot, and I need to stay in this form to heal.”

 

“But in this form won't you loose your human soul to your demon blood?”

 

“Only if I'm not in control, I am fully in control of myself right now, so I do not worry about loosing myself as you said.” With that said Inuyasha took the cooked rabbits off the fire, cut them up, and gave one to Kagome.

 

“Inuyasha I can't eat all of this, and are you sure that you should eat, because you yourself just said you had a big hole in your stomach.”

 

“Eat what you can, the rest will save `til morning. I need the protein to help strengthen what I lost in the fight with that bastard bull youkai, sides in this form I heal a lot faster, the hole is already closed, I will be fully healed before I sleep tonight.”

 

Kagome let the subject drop and started eating the meal that Inuyasha provided for her, eating nearly half the rabbit, she set the rest beside the fire. Looking up she noticed that Inuyasha had already finished his portion and was watching her.

 

Covering up the slight embarrassment of his intense stare, Kagome decided to question what he meant earlier.

 

“What did you mean by pack, Inuyasha?”

 

“Every animal like demon forms a pack like their animal counterpart.”

 

“Oh, you mean like Kouga and his pack of wolves.”

 

“Bitch, I ain't nothing like that pesky wolf, but ya we form packs because strength comes in numbers.”

 

“But Inuyasha how does a pack work when there is humans with in it?”

 

“Humans can form packs too. Every pack has a similar structure. Lead male, lead female, second male, second female, and followers. I'm lead male, you're lead female, the monk is second male, the slayer is second female, and the others are our followers. The followers are usually made up of the old members and the pups. The cat youkai may not be old or young, but her size even in transformation can be a hindrance, though she is strong, her fighting range is limited because she doesn't have a humanoid form, and the brat is still a pup, so both are really in need of protection.”

 

Kagome looked shocked at Inuyasha explanation of the pack structure, never realizing that was how he categorized their group. However, he continued on with his explanation.

 

“We are the leaders of the group, our decision it final, my decision more so than yours, because I'm the alpha male. Your decision can not be argued by anyone else in the pack but me, the monk and the slayer are meant to protect you as alpha female, but they do not have to protect you from me. As lead male, or alpha male, I would never seek to harm the lead female, and when I'm in battle, their job is to protect you so I can fight at full strength without worrying if you're in danger, but if they can't protect you, it's my job to make sure you remain safe. That is why when the bull came after you I jumped in front of him, and that is why the monk pulled you into the barrier when he saw the trouble I was having. However, after the battle was done, he did not have to protect you from me, I put my life on the line to save yours, why would I kill you right afterward?”

 

“Inuyasha, I think it's because they are not sure of you in this form, they know when you're your usual self you'll do anything to protect us, but when you transformed before, you seemed a little blood thirsty.”

 

“Bitch, blood thirsty? Why wouldn't I be thirsting for blood for those that threaten me as well as my pack? Their job is to protect you and the followers, my job is to protect all of you.”

 

“I appreciate that, truly I do Inuyasha, but you are a lot more aggressive in this form, way more so then when you're normal.”

 

“Because, bitch, when I'm hanyou, I have human emotions holding me back, in this form it's all instinct. Humans, good humans, fear killing, but in a demon's world, it's kill or be killed, and I won't let anything harm my pack.”

 

“Earlier you said that when you remain in control, you recognize us, what happens when you loose that control?”

 

Inuyasha scoffed at her a little, but he answered anyways. “I recognize you in any form even when I don't have control, I just run the risk of loosing my human self when I don't have control. My scent covers all of you in the pack, the monk, the slayer, the cat, the runt, and especially you. Any demon recognizes their own scent, and anything that carries their scent is theirs, which means even when I loose control, I know you guys are still mine, your still pack.”

 

“Inuyasha, why do you call me a bitch? I mean for a human it's very derogatory.” Kagome had wondered why he constantly liked to call her names besides that of her own. First it started off with woman, then wench, and then the final evolution of names turned into bitch. Everyone else he called by their name, well except Miroku, her usually called him letch, but that was hardly as derogatory as his chosen labels for her.

 

“Because bitch, I am an Inu-hanyou, our females are bitches.”

 

“But you don't call Sango or any other female a bitch.”

 

Again Inuyasha scoffed at her. “Because, bitch, Sango is not my female, she's a female in my pack, but she's not my female, she belongs to the secondary male, not me.”

 

“I…I'm y…your female?” Shock again fussed Kagome's system, as again Inuyasha claimed her as solely his.

 

“Damn right bitch, you belong to no one else.” Inuyasha affirmed his statement with a brisk nod.

 

“But what about Kikyo? Isn't she your female?”

 

“Bitch she wanted to kill me, she wanted me dead and she only wanted my human half, she wasn't my bitch, because if I turn human she would have been my wife not my mate and bitch as you are.”

 

“You were willing to become human for her, she is your intended, not me, I'm just your friend.” Tears were starting to form in her eyes as the pain from the thought of human Inuyasha living and loving Kikyo. She started curling into herself, bring her knees up to her chest hugging herself, as if to protect herself from the pain inside.

 

Inuyasha's reaction to the statement was not what she was expecting, she expected him to stutter and storm out of the hut like he usually did but that is not his reaction this time. No, this time he just started growling fierce and feral, then shot of from his sitting position crossed to her, and slammed her into the nearest wall, arms pinned above her head by his, while he used his body as a buffer, restraining her movement completely.

 

Still growling, he snarled in her face. “Bitch are you stupid, she's not mine, never really was, she wanted to destroy my demon half, her so called love for me was limited. She didn't love all of me, that wasn't love, not any love I know.”

 

“Then why did you want to use the jewel to become human for her, you loved her and was willing to change yourself entirely for her.”

 

“Bitch, I was lonely, always fighting, always running, she offered me a way out, I wouldn't have to fight as a human, I wouldn't have to run, I wouldn't have been lonely.”

 

Kagome started pushing against Inuyasha's restrain, trying to get free of him. “But you still loved her.”

 

“Wrong bitch, I thought I loved her, but how can you love someone when you don't trust them? I thought I loved her until I fell in love with you. Before you I didn't know what love was.”

 

Kagome looked up into Inuyasha's eyes, tears forming in her own. “You love me?”

In doing so, you take part of my blood in you, and that blood will lengthen your life span to mine, and it will form a bond between your soul and mine, there would be no undoing it, we would age the same, die around the same time, be reborn around the same time just to start the cycle over again.”

 

“So we would be each other's soul mate?”

 

“Exactly.”

 

Kagome shot forward off of the wall, throwing herself against Inuyasha, causing him to stumble and fall backwards near the fire. No I didn't quit on When The Spring Comes, I'm just having some problems with the next chap is all, lots of ideas, but some just don't seem good enough, though I am working on it around my hectic work schedule, who knew being a bartender was so difficult? Lol! Hopefully a new chap will be up soon for my story, but this idea popped in my head and wouldn't leave till I did something about it, so I did.

So to all my loyal readers of When The Spring Comes, don't despair, I'm not giving up just yet.

 

Also I have a request if you would, I read a story a while back, can't remember where, can't even remember the title or if it was even a chaptered story, what stuck in my mind was a little scene. Kagome was determined she was going to prove to Inuyasha that she loved him more than Kikyo, and realized with him being the type of person he was, she knew actions spoke louder with words. Then I can remember in the story, the went into the woods together, and Kagome kept asking Inuyasha if he trusted her, when he said he did, she had him lift his arm and she shot an arrow pinning it to a tree, by his shirt, then did so to the next arm. The only other thing I remember about the story was that after she proved her love they kissed and his shirt remained pinned to the tree, and Kagome found out she had burned him with her powers when she pinned his arms to the tree. I can't even remember if the story is a lemon or not. I read it so long ago that most of the details have slipped my mind. Anyways, if you know the story I'm talking about or think you know the story I'm talking about could you let me know please, I'd appreciated it very much.

 

Also my main reason for writing this story is I don't think that Inuyasha is a mindless animal even when he does turn full demon. He had to run all his life, and most of his survival instincts come from his demon blood, so how can he be mindless when they helped him survive?
