InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The End is Only the Beginning ❯ Move In: A Interlude of Sorts ( Chapter 17 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Early the next morning, students begin arriving and moving into their respective dormitories. It did not take very long for news and rumors of a new non-mutant teachers spread like wild fire. In no time at all, the news filters through the whole student body. Clusters of students gather and chatter excitedly about the new mystery teacher.

“Did you here? We have a new teacher this year.” A red headed girl said to another blonde girl.

“Yeah, I heard she is really young and a non-mutant too!” The blonde girl replied.

“What, a non-mutant as in a normal human? Are you sure about that?” Another girl questions the other two.

“Yeah positive, not only that, but I heard she is foreign too. From one of the Asian countries, Japanese or Chinese, I am not too sure,” replied the blonde girl.

From out of no where a boy with light brown hair burst through the door. “Hey guys, you talking about the new teacher? I ran into some guy that moved in very early this morning. He told me he caught a glimpse of the new mystery teacher coming back from working out. Apparently she is really hot. He even said she is hotter than Jean! I am rounding up some of the guys to look for her so we can see for our selves if she is really that hot. Want to come?”

The males in the room nods enthusiastically, “Really, sure we'll come.”

The hoard of males scampers all too eagerly out of the room leaving the females to shake their heads muttering, “Boys….”

In her office Kagome sites busily at her desk sorting through her lesson plans, the work serving as a way to avoid seeing Logan since the incident in the hall way. Since then she have purposely been trying to avoid him.

Shippo lounges lazily in a leather couch fiddling with a Rubrics cube, expertly rearranging the color while keeping guard of Kagome. While watching Kagome, Shippo notices her lack of concentration. “What is bothering you Kagome?”

Looking up from her paper Kagome smartly answers, “Huh?”

Snickering at her air-headed response, he recalls her earlier days as a young teenager back in the feudal era adventures. “I said, what is bothering you Kagome?”

Kagome scowls half-heartedly at Shippo for laughing at her slip. “Well obviously you are bothering me right now.” Kagome answers sarcastically.

“Don't try to avoid the subject. You know very well what I am asking,” Shippo responds.

Putting down her pen, Kagome cradles her aching head in her palms and letting out a heavy sighs. “Logan kissed me a few days ago, twice!”

Dropping the color cube excitedly Shippo blurts out, “That is great! When is the wedding?”

Picking up a paper weight from her desk, Kagome chucks the small hard object at Shippo's head. Connecting the object with Shippo's head, he promptly topples over swirl eyed from the blunt impact. Dragging himself up, Shippo straightens himself up rubbing the growing lump on his head. “Geeze Kagome, no need to overreact and get violent.”

Schooling his feature to look more serious a more mature air surrounds him. “But seriously Kagome what is stopping you from moving on. He has been gone a long time now. He would not want to constantly live in the past.”

Kagome tries to deny Shippo's accusations, stubbornly crossing her arms across her chest. “Nothing is holding me back. It is not like I am a 22 year old virgin who has never been on a real date.”

Giving her a doubting look, Shippo raises a hand to count off his points. “First of all Kagome, dates with Hojo does not count when you were forced into them by those three meddling banshees (1) you call friends. Secondly, drunken one-night flings in college do not count as intimate relationship. Seriously Kagome when is the last time you have been in a intimate relationship. I do not mean just physically. I mean emotionally.”

Kagome frowns while thinking how to answer the question.

“You can't, can you Kagome? You may not do it intentionally, but you are still running and hiding. I am not saying you have become cold or anything like that, but although on the surface you are open emotionally, your heart has closed up. There are two men in your life right now that are willing to the void in your heart.” Shippo explains.

Kagome looks questionably in confusion at Shippo. Noticing her confused look Shippo elaborates further. “There is Logan, without a doubt, and oddly enough Sesshoumaru too. Well actually Sesshoumaru is odd. I can see and smell the way you feel about each other when you interact. It is romantic but at the same time it is also platonic. I swear you guys send off the weirdest mixed signals. You and Logan are like a pair of hormonal teenagers wanting to jump each other at every chance; well at least it smells that way. It is really your choice now to make a move.”

Getting up from the couch, Shippo takes a seat on Kagome's desk on top of her papers while playfully swinging his legs backing and forth. “I am still waiting for you to make me a niece and nephew and I am sure Souta would want to be an uncle before he turns fifty.”

With Shippo's teasing comment, the tension eases off Kagome. “Sheesh I can't believe this, my little brother giving me advice on my love life.” Kagome comments humorously.

Pouting childishly Shippo retorts, “Hey you may consider me your younger brother but I have live for over 500 years. You have to give me some credit you know. Besides I promised to take care of you from now on. That includes right to meddle in your love life.”

Kagome sighs exasperatedly, “Fine I will give it a try. There happy now?”

Shippo nods energetically, practically bouncing, “Yep thrilled. Now tell me about the unfortunate soul who was the first to bed you.”

Blushing profusely at Shippo's comment, Kagome punches him out of embarrassment. The punch sends him flying out the window. At the sight of a body flying out of the window at the first floor staff offices, students gather to see what happened.

Peering into the broken window they are all greeted by the sight of a very flustered Kagome with a very scary look on her face and her hand in a tight fist. Catching the angry look on the new teacher's face the students fearfully shy away. They all mentally take note to never piss her off.

Coming to check out what caused the big commotion; Rouge catches the student scurry away like scared mice. Looking to Kagome, Rouge can clearly see why while leaning casually on the door frame. “That is a great first impression you made on the students,” Rouge comments.

Finally noticing her audience, Kagome smiles rather sheepishly at Rouge, “Eh…oops sorry about the window.”

Cheerfully waving off the apology, Rouge says, “Don't worry about it. It happens quite often around here. Although I must say you are definitely going to give Logan a run for his reputation as being temperamental and his is infamous.”

AN: Sorry for the very short chapter with no real forward motions in the story. I just finished my finals this Friday and I started writing again. I hope to crank out another chapter in another two weeks during my short break. After this I promise thing will get moving and the work towards the climax of the story. I am currently standing at a fork here with my story. I can not decide indefinitely who will end up with whom. I will accept suggestions of all sorts. This is not a poll of any sort. If you can make your choice convincing enough with solid support and evidence (that does not count repeating “Please” a billion times) I will take it into serious consideration. I just need a push in the right direction that is all. Thanks for reading and as always question/comments are welcome in reviews.

P.S. (for FF . Net readers): Some of you suggested I increase the rating to M instead of T if Logan continues to pull stunts like the hallway scene. I promise that nothing will get any racier than that. If and when it does I will be sure to inform you in big bold letters. Personally I don't think some heavy kissing is M rated material as long as they keep their close on.
