Sesshoumaru had his back to a tree with his eyes closed, Inuyasha was sitting in the tree above him, Miroku was snoring loudly with Sango asleep against his chest, and Shippo and Kirara were asleep at her feet. She smiled, she had missed mornings like this. She got up quietly and headed for the stream. The forest was starting to wake up, though the sun hadn't yet come up all the way. Kaogme sunk to her knees at the side of the stream and dipped her hands into the cool water. She brought it up and splashed her face. "Kagome?" She turned around, startled. Inuyasha was standing there. "You scared me you baka." He smirked, "What about your supreme youkai senses?" Kagome splashed water his way, "Shut up." She smiled at him. "I need to tell you something." "What?" He looked her straight in the eyes, "I am sorry. For everything I've done, before and after you left. I never should have tried to love you." "Inuyasha..." She stood up, "I wanted you to love me though." "I know and that's what made it easier for me to see you as Kikyo... I'm sorry but it's the truth for once... I wanted Kikyo so I led you along. I was wrong for doing it to you. And I am sorry about everything with your mate... I just... I guess I tried to convince myself that we could pick up where we left off. Like the last few years you've been gone you didn't live life..." "Thank you. It means a lot to me that you're sorry." "I just want to see you happy again." She smiled, "I am, but I could be better." "Why what's wrong?" Kagome sighed and looked him in the eyes, "I don't know if I want to stay this time..." "What? Why?" "I don't belong here anymore... I can't belong here, so much has changed. There is no place for me here anymore, I lost my chance when I left." "What makes you think that?" He looked back at her with equal intensity. "We didn't want you to leave, none of us did and we missed you everyday you were gone. Though things have changed there will always be a place for you with us, here where you belong." "I wish it were that simple Inuyasha..." He wanted so badly to ask her what she meant but the look in her eyes said he wouldn't get it out of her anyways. With a nod he dropped it, for now. "Well, we have time to change that but for the time being we are on a mission." She smiled, grateful that he had dropped the issue. Though she new he wouldn't let it go forever. "Yeah, that is the most important thing right now." They started back to the camp when Sesshoumaru appeared, "We are leaving now." "What about the others?" Inuyasha scowled, "We can't leave them behind!" "We're right here Inuyasha." Miroku and Sango stepped out from behind Sesshoumaru with Kirara and Shippo in tow. Sango had Kagome's things in her hand. "Oh, thanks Sango." She smiled, "No problem Kagome." ~*~ They were back on their way in no time. Silence followed the group and the hours flowed by, no one said a word. Each was lost in their own thoughts of the past, the present, and the future. "Hey!" All of them stopped and turned. There was a girl running towards them at a high speed. She was a youkai and had two others trailing after her. "Stop!" Inuyasha crossed his arms over his chest, "Didn't we already stop?" "I wonder what she wants..." Kagome looked as everyone shrugged. Behind her she could feel Sesshoumaru tense and his youki become uneasy. The girl stopped in front of them in a cloud of dust. She took a deep breath once then stood up and looked past them to Sesshoumaru. "Where is he?" "None of your concern. I told you to leave him alone. He does not have any interest in you and never will." "Yes he does, he told me so!" He rubbed his temples, "Leave Kaido be, or you will be sorry." She huffed, "Well reguardless, my Mistress wants your answer." "I told you the answer before, I told her the answer." He growled, "I will not take her as my mate." "Hm, you can't just refuse forever." She looked boredly at her feet, "Eventually it will get annoying to you and you'll give in." "No." "Well, let Kaido know I was asking for him and think over my Mistress's offer." She bowed slightly and took off in a hurry. The two following her looked at eachother in anguish, "Please come back! Slow down at least!" They ran past after the girl. Inuyasha smirked, "Someone after you that refuses to give up?" Sesshoumaru glared at him, "Shut up." He busted up laughing. "Inuyasha..." He started towards his half-brother with anger in his eyes. Inuyasha held up his hands in a weak attmept to keep Sesshoumaru away, but his laughter did not die down. "Come on Inuyasha stop. Sesshoumaru looks pretty close to killing you." Sango looked worriedly from Sesshoumaru to Inuyasha. He slowly got ahold of his laughs, "Sorry but it just struck a cord." Sesshoumaru sneered, "It isn't so funny hanyou. That girl's Mistress is trying to get the Western Lands." "What? How could she even try?" "Some technicality." "Such as?" He sighed, "She claims that Kaido can not take over the Western Lands because there is no real proof he is my son." "What? That is stupid." Miroku nodded, "But with all due respect my Lord, Kaido does not truely look like your son. Whomever his mother was her looks seem dominant in him." Sesshoumaru inclined his head, "He does look like her, but he is still mine. There is no denying that." Inuyasha nodded, "Feeling his power and his scent proves he is yours." Kagome cleared her throat, "Maybe we should get going again? We don't have all the time in the world." "Awww, Kagome don't you want to further explore Sesshoumaru's newest love?" Sesshoumaru growled, "Inuyasha..." Kagome shrugged, "Why? He is free to love who he wants." "Stop saying that I love her." His eyes held anger and promise of injury, "I do not love her, I have never loved her, and never will love her." "Feh, well that doesn't change the fact that she wants you!!" "Inuyasha stop, can we just go now? In peace?" He stopped, "Yeah sure Kagome." She walked past them with her eyes down, "I'm just kinda tired and want to get back to the palace." Sesshoumaru watched her, "Wait." Kagome turned, "What now?" "We will take a Taiyoukai's way of travel." Inuyasha looked puzzled, "The what?" "A way that only extremely powerful youkai can learn to fly." He smirked and a silver light engulfed him, "Come on." They looked at eachother in question and with a collective shrug stepped into the light. There was a sense of floating, then it stopped. It was only there for a split second then, gone. When the white light surrounding them left, they were standing at the front of two very large gates. Sesshoumaru smirked, "We are here." Inuyasha gaped, "I used to live here?" "No, that castle was destroyed, this is mine." The gates opened and Sesshoumaru started inside. They followed him. "You destroyed father's castle?" "No you fool. It was destroyed after you were born and father died." "Oh." Jaken came running out, "Mi'Lord have you found young Lord Kaido?" He stopped suddenly at who he saw behind his Lord, but a look from Sesshoumaru shut him up. From the looks of everyone behind Sesshoumaru Jaken knew that something had happened. He bowed, "I will prepare rooms, food, and the main hall for planning. Also Rin stopped by earlier, she may be in her room or wandering about the palace. I'm not sure." Sesshoumaru nodded, "Very well I will find her." Jaken scurried away to set everything up. Inuyasha watched him go in wonder, "Wow, he sure has changed." "Yes, well my mate forced that change upon him and Kaido also had an impact on his behavior." Sesshoumaru started walking forward and led them into his home. They were all taken aback by the size of the palace. And once the doors opened they gasped at the sheer beauty of it. In the main hall were two stair cases that led upstairs. The floor was stone and along the wall stood small tables with flowers in them. Inuyasha smirked, "You pick those yourself?" "No, Rin does and brings them over. She hasn't been here for a while though that's why they're fresh." He frowned, he didn't understand why Sesshoumaru wasn't taking the bait and fighting with him. "Follow me." He led them through the downstairs. Sesshoumaru stopped and two doors, one on each side of the hall. "The right is females, the left males. Don't forget it. Any hentai activity will not be tolerated on any level." He pointedly looked at Miroku. Sango snickered. Sesshoumaru continued to show them around the bottom floor until Jaken announced that lunch was ready. He showed them all to the main dining hall and left to find Rin. They all talked about what to do while they ate. "I say we hunt him down and kill him." Sango rolled her eyes, "Well duh, but we need to find him first. We can't kill anything until we know where this new youkai thing is." Miroku took another sushi roll. "Maybe we could lure him out. If we knew what Kaido's mother looked like then we could have Shippo take her shape and wait for him to arrive." "I don't know about that." Kagome looked at them evenly, "I mean that would be hard on Sesshoumaru and Kaido." Sango nodded, "Yeah she's right." Inuyasha shrugged, "Well we could always do it the old fashioned way. We could look." "That took forever with Naraku." Shippo ate slowly as he looked up at them, "I like Miroku's idea." "What would that be?" They turned to see Sesshoumaru and a young woman walk through the doors. The woman was wearing a pink kimono with a red obi tied at her waist. Her hair fell over her shoulders in waves and she was smiling brightly. Shippo looked the girl up and down, "Is that your girlfriend?" Kagome choked on her sushi. Sesshoumaru smiled, "No this is Rin." They gaped, "Rin?" Her smile widened, "Yeah it's me. I had to stop by to let Sesshoumaru know that I had a child." Kagome smiled, "A boy or a girl?" "A little baby girl. She's so cute with long black hair." "When was she born?" Kagome was so happy for Rin and Kohaku. "About a month ago. We named her Saiyuri." Kagome saw a small smile on Sesshoumaru's face. "That's so cute." Sango looked between the two, "Um who is the father?" Rin didn't recognize Sango so she didn't know, "Kohaku is the father, we've been married for five years now." Sango's heart stopped. "Kohaku is alive?" Then it hit Rin who this was, "Sango? Oh my gosh I didn't know it was you..." She looked down, "Yeah he is... But he doesn't remember much..." Rin looked at them, "Sesshoumaru's mate wiped his memory so he wouldn't be tortured with what he did." "I see..." Miroku stood up, " Sesshoumaru is our room ready I think Sango needs to lay down. She doesn't need this stress with the baby." He nodded and summoned a servant to show them to their room. Sesshoumaru watched them leave with little worry over the slayer's health. Rin looked worried, "I hope I didn't upset her... I didn't know that she wasn't aware of Kohaku's fate." Inuyasha shrugged, "She'll be fine. Sango just needs some time and I bet Miroku will make everything better anyways." He sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, "If it's alright with you I'm going to take a look around. I'll hunt you guys down later." Kagome smiled, "Alright Inuyasha. I think I'm headed to the hotspring. I'll catch up with your guys later." "Okay. See ya." Sesshoumaru and Rin watched as they went their separate directions. Rin smiled brightly, "Lord Sesshoumaru!" He closed his eyes, "Rin, don't. Please." "What happened?" She looked up worried for him, he had been through so much. ~*~ Sorry this took so long...
