Prologue

 

Life and Death, Light and Darkness... Lovely combination, don't you think? These are the four elements that harbor the existence of all living things. Who would've thought they could bring about a lot of chaos? Oh well... Jeez I feel so useless here! Why am I surrounded in darkness? Aren't I supposed to be bathed in 'shining light of glory'? Sarcasm there people! Oh boy... So much for being the Guardian of Light... The other three guardians are still out there, I just know it! I can feel their auras. Soon I'll be reunited with them, just a little bit more time and... A-ha! Finally! I see something... light! It's calling out to me. This calls for the special Hallelujah tune! Oh and I hear voices! I can't really see the people with the voi... There they are! They look familiar... Wait a minute, I know them! Wow they've really grown.

 

“How long do you think it's gonna take before she wakes up Rika?”

 

Ah my sweet little sister, lil'monkey I always called her. She seems hyper today. Probably can't wait for me to get out of this freaking pod! I have cramps here people! It's so small I can barely breathe OR move! Who the hell came up with putting me in this mini hole in the first place?!

 

“She'll soon come out of it Kiki. Just hold on... She's awake! Wow that was fast, even for someone like you.”

 

Curse you and your sarcasm Rika! There are times I still wonder why you of all people turned out to be my BEST FRIEND! Guess that's one of the reasons why...

 

“Kitten can you hear me? It's me Kiki, your baby sister remember? I can't wait for you to get out. We've been waiting for years for you to wake up. We've really missed you. Now we can continue our quest!”

 

Still haven't changed, have you Kiki? Oh well... Thank god! Finally, an opening! Now I can get out once and for all!

 

And with that, I was bathed in light and the pod finally opened...

“How long do you think it's gonna take before she wakes up Rika?”

 

A young girl asked another. She had short blond hair, woven pigtails at the end. She also had eyes the color of amber and pointed ears. She was wearing a white haori and a yellow hakama.

 

“She'll soon come out of it Kiki. Just hold on.”

 

Her companion replied. She was older than the other girl, her auburn hair packed in a pony tail, few strands falling, pointed ears and purple eyes staring at Kiki. She wore an outfit similar to hers except the hakama was purple.

 

Both stood in front of a black pod, deep in what seemed to be a forest. Flowers of different kinds were everywhere, birds were singing and butterflies flew by. The pod was attached to a large tree that shone in all it's glory. It looked like it had lived for years, yet it still looked young. On the tree were pink sakura petals along with white sakura blossoms.

 

She felt someone staring at her and turned towards the pod on the tree. Purple clashed with amber. Rika took a step back out of instinct and a cocky smirk appeared on her face.

 

“She's awake! Wow that was fast, even for someone like you.”

 

All Rika got was a glare and later on a smirk. With what Rika said, Kiki ran to the pod, her body leaning against it, looking at the being within. Once their eyes met, the other's have recognition, Kiki's eyes bubbled up with excitement.

 

“Kitten can you hear me? It's me Kiki, your baby sister remember? I can't wait for you to get out. We've been waiting for years for you to wake up. We've really missed you. Now we can continue our quest!”

 

While Kiki spoke to her, a smile was on the girl's face. The fact her sister looked like a kid that just got a big lollipop amused her. It was then Kiki felt something on the pod. She moved back and noticed the opening. Taking that as a sign to step aside, she did that and watched in awe as the pod slowly opened. After the agonizing moment of waiting, a young girl, the oldest out of the bunch, stepped out of the pod gracefully. The pod suddenly shattered leaving nothing but dust in the wind.

 

The girl had pure white hair which swept the ground, and smooth bangs . A pair of dog ears appeared on her head and around it a white band. Her eyes were the color of a mixture of gold and amber. She wore a white dress the same color as her hair, short sleeved and a little bit puffy, the waist line below her chest letting the dress flow down sweeping the floor. And to add it all up, she had white angel wings on her back which she spread out. Under the rays of sunlight, she looked like a goddess, the rays reflecting her complexion and her outfit in general.

 

“Azumi!”

 

Said girl was tackled by Kiki who held on to her like her life depended on it. Azumi just smiled, hugging the girl back.

 

“Lil'monkey, did you miss me that much?”

 

That made Kiki sob.

 

“Y-Yes. I was very lonely Azumi! R-Rika was there for me, but I missed you so much!”

 

Azumi knelt in front of Kiki and cupped her face. She gentle wiped the tears that were falling and soon they were all gone. She then turned towards Rika and gave her a smirk standing up.

 

“So” Rika started, “Did you sleep well?”

 

Azumi glared at her. “Ha ha very funny. My poor wings were cramped up they were getting numb! Who in their right mind had the guts to seal me in that frigging case?! Did you see the size of THAT thing?! Ugh!”

 

Rika and Kiki laughed at her while she humphed. Rika's face turned to that of seriousness.

 

“It's good to have you back... Lady Gilth. I'm afraid I have bad news. The Shikon Jewel has been awakened.”

 

Azumi frowned at that. 'The Shikon Jewel huh? That means the search has begun. Just as I predicted. That might stir up trouble. This is gonna be tougher than I thought.'

 

“What do you know about the jewel so far?”

 

Rika sighed. “The jewel has been manipulated by both demons and humans. Many others fight for the jewel, the cost being their lives. Technically, the jewel was shattered. There is a demon that seeks the power of the jewel and he has gotten stronger from the shards he has. But there is a group of people that are also collecting the jewel fragments. A weird group though, it includes a half demon, a priestess, a demon slayer, a monk, a kitsune and a... Gilth are you OK?”

 

Azumi was lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice Rika calling her. 'So they did make it! They're alive!' A smile was on her face, but her expression turned to that of horror. 'Then that means... We don't have time! I need to find them fast!'

 

“Azumi? What's wrong?”

 

That got her. She felt someone pulling her hand and saw it was Kiki. She looked at Rika and saw concern in her eyes. She gave both a reassuring smile. She stared at Rika like there was some kind of hidden communication. They both sighed.

 

“Well we better get a move on and find them huh?” Rika said.

 

Azumi just nodded. As soon as Kiki let go of her hand, she was bathed in light and instead of a sixteen year old,there stood an eleven year old, same age as Rika. The only difference was her hair reached her mid thigh and she was wearing the same outfit as the other two but her hakama was magenta in color. The other features were present, except for the wings. Once she was through with her transformation, she started walking out of the forest, the other two behind her.

 

'Ready or not my friends, here I come!'...
