Chapter 1

 

“Thank you for your hospitality.”

 

“No thank you monk. You saved our lives by exorcising the demon that inhabited our home.”

 

“Well as they always say, all in a day's work. Now we must take our leave.”

 

The group was getting ready to leave a village. The usual, during their search for Naraku, they got tired, well with the exception of a certain half demon that kept whining, and came across the village. To gain access into the village leader's home, Miroku performed an 'exorcism' destroying the 'demon' that resided in the building. As a reward, they were given a one night stay.

 

“Is there anything else I can do to express my gratitude?”

 

“Well, there is one thing.”

 

“Anything.”

 

“You could give me your daughter's hand in marriage. For she is a fine beauty to behold.”

 

Two seconds later, Miroku's on the floor unconscious, two bumps on his head from the wrath of the demon slayer. The rest of the group looked hopelessly at their companion.

 

Shippou snorted. “What an idiot.”

 

“I couldn't agree more.” Kagome and InuYasha replied.

 

Kilala mewed.

 

It had been two weeks since their last battle with Naraku. As usual, they defeated him but to their disappointment, he turned out to be a puppet. But they did notice something. Currently, they hadn't found any jewel shards. The only ones they found were in demons that hardly posed any threat. Either those or lying randomly in different places that they crossed by. It seemed that Naraku had gotten most of the jewel shards. But unlike before, he was desperate. Something big was coming up... But what? Back to business, the group has finally left the village.

 

Kagome was the first to speak. She stretched her body as she walked. “Ah what a day. The sun's shining, the birds are singing, there's nothing that could ruin this perfect day!”

 

“I back you up on that Kagome.” Sango replied.

 

“Yeah and the good thing is Naraku hasn't attacked for a while.” Shippou added.

 

“Feh don't relax just yet.”

 

“InuYasha, you need to ease up a little.” Miroku said and in return got a grunt.(How did he do that? Thought he was gone three minutes ago... Oh well!)

 

“Well it's true I mean this is way too suspicious. The bastard's up to something. I can feel it.” InuYasha replied.

 

“I know how you feel but I believe in the mean time we should rest since it's been too long since we've heard from Naraku.” Sango stated.

 

InuYasha crossed his arms and muttered “whatever”. Everyone turned to the source of a scream, the demons covering their ears. The pissed off half demon turned towards the source of the sound.

 

“What the hell Kagome?!”

 

The girl paying no heed to the growl, continued. “Oh no! I have a test! I have to go back to my time!”

 

The blankly stared at her. Finally, one of them snapped.

 

“What the fuck?! Is that why you had to scream goddamn loud?! And besides you can't go yet! We still have jewel shards to find!”

 

“Cool your jets will ya! Don't use foul language on me InuYasha! And I have to go this time, otherwise I'll FAIL! Naraku hasn't popped up in a while! You should pay heed to Miroku's advice! You DO need to ease up!”

 

“That doesn't matter! Naraku keeps getting stronger with each passing minute while we're slacking off! You're not going any-”

 

“Sit!”

 

THUMP

 

“SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT... SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! You're not stopping me! Goodbye!”

 

And she was off. InuYasha was left in a huge crater, moaning in pain.

 

“Serves you right.” Shippou said sticking out his tongue.

 

“Let's go guys he'll catch up later.” Sango suggested.

 

The companions left him there, heading towards Kaede's village.

“Mom I'm home!”

 

“Hello dear how was school?”

 

Souta had just gotten back from school. He entered the kitchen to see his mother making lunch.

 

“The usual, well except we had a new student. She's officially my best friend.”

 

“She? Oh does that mean she's a girl?”

 

“Did someone say girl?”

 

Grandpa Higurashi emerged from the living room and gave Souta a knowing smirk. Souta blushed.

 

“No gramps it's nothing like that. I just met her today. And I guess I took a liking to her. She really sweet.”

 

“That's cute dear. Wish I could meet her.”

 

“Don't worry about that mom she's here! You can come out now!”

 

A figure entered the kitchen. She had long blond hair that reached her mid-thigh, her bangs were tamed making them smooth. A white band tied the end of her hair. Her eyes were emerald green. She curtsied and smiled.

 

“It's nice meeting you all. My name is Shiori Hiroshima.”

“Why me?” Kagome groaned. “That test sucked. I didn't study enough. Stupid InuYasha and his stupid ego.”

 

Not long after did she hear three people calling her name. She turned round and smiled when they met up with her.

 

“Hey Yuka, Eri, Ayumi what's up?”

 

The trio finally caught up with her. Sorrowful expressions were on their faces, making Kagome feel uncomfortable.

 

“What's wrong?” Kagome asked. 'What did grandpa come up with this time?'

 

“Are you sure you're able to move Kagome? Your back took an awful twist. Yous should be paralyzed by now.” Yuka said.

 

“Yeah Kagome and those fungus on your feet must've been a pain.” Eri added.

 

“And small pox? How did you contaminate that? I thought the virus was locked up in the lab.” Ayumi stated.

 

“Hey where did she go? Kagome?”

 

Their friend had disappeared sooner or later.

'Small pox?! Jeez gramps must've run out of illnesses by now. Even if, he could at least say it was a flu or something!' Kagome thought as she climbed the stairs of the shrine. Depositing her shoes at the entrance, she entered her home.

 

“Hi I'm home.”

 

“Why hello Kagome. How was your day in school?” Her mother asked.

 

“Oh the usual.” 'Except for the stupid test'. Kagome sniffed the air, smelling the aroma that was drifting in the air.

 

“Mm that smells good mama! Is that your special oden?” She asked as she entered the kitchen. But she was thrown off guard by the person standing beside her mother by the oven helping her cook. Mama turned from her kitchen to look at her daughter staring at the stranger.

 

“Kagome?” That broke her trance.

 

“Yes?”

 

She smiled. “Kagome I would like you to meet a friend of Souta's. Her name's Shiori. Shiori this is my daughter Kagome.”

 

Shiori turned round to look at Kagome and Kagome gasped.

 

'She... She looks familiar. Why do I have this feeling I've met her before?'

 

Shiori smiled and went in front of her and curtsied. “Nice to meet you Ms. Kagome. I'm Shiori Hiroshima.”

 

Kagome giggled. “Just call me Kagome. And it's nice to meet you Shiori.” She walked round her looking her up and down and observing her features. “It's strange. I've never seen anyone with blond hair in Tokyo. And your eyes, they're like jewels of emerald. They sure are pretty. Souta definitely picked a looker.” Kagome commented.

 

“For the last time she's a friend of mine. She's not my girlfriend.” Souta replied entering the kitchen giving Kagome a glare.

 

Kagome smirked. “If that is so, why are you blushing?” That made him redder. “You see you like her don't you? Ah my lil brother's growing up.”

 

“Kagome cut it out. You're making Shiori uncomfortable.”

 

The siblings turned towards Shiori, whose face was tinted with pink.

 

“See she's even cuter when she blushes.” Kagome stated.

 

“Alright kids that's enough. Kagome stop teasing your brother. It's really obvious he likes her.”

 

“Mom you're not helping.” That made both girls giggle and Souta flush. Shiori observed them and smiled.

 

'What a lovely family.'

“Stupid Kagome with her stupid sits, when she gets here I'm gonna seal that well! OW! That hurt you old hag!”

 

“Quit your whining InuYasha. If ye had only respected Kagome's wishes, ye wouldn't be in this predicament.”

 

“Whatever.”

 

The rest of the gang was in the hut. Miroku in a corner meditating, Sango stroking Kilala and Shippou watching Kaede work on InuYasha's back.

 

“There all done. Now don't stress yourself InuYasha. Or else the pain won't reside.”

 

“Whatever old hag I'll be out side if anyone needs me.” InuYasha stated as he got up and walked out of the hut.

 

“InuYasha and his stubbornness. What a combination.” Sango said.

 

“I agree but his ego has been bruised by Kagome one too many times. Why can't he just act normal anyway?” Shippou asked.

 

“That IS normal for InuYasha Shippou. It seems the beauty tames the beast.” Kaede added.

 

“Yeah but in Miroku's case, the beauty hungers the beast.” Sango added with a sigh.

 

Miroku feigned an innocent look. “My dearest Sango, it is thus the curse of my hand that is insatiable to the curves of women. For I am defenseless against this burden thus I must bear it.”

 

“Yeah ri- PERVERT!”

 

THWACK! BOOM! POW!

 

“Keep your hands to yourself you annoying monk! Curse my ass.” The last part Sango grumbled to herself after beating up Sango with her boomerang.

 

“Ow Sango why must this be so?” Miroku asked.

 

“Shut up.”

 

“Idiot.” Shippou said. He thought, 'If I had my own woman I bet I'd treat her with respect and love her for eternity. I wouldn't grope her like Miroku or say mean things to her like InuYasha. We may have our differences and flaws but I'll love her the way she is.'

 

Suddenly, Kilala started growling.

 

“Kilala what's wrong?” Shippou asked.

 

Miroku looked at Sango. “Sango do you feel it?”

 

“Yes I do. But this is no ordinary demonic aura. There's something strange about it. Like it's bathed in darkness.”

 

InuYasha immediately jumped into the hut. “Let's go. I have a feeling this is no weak demon.”

 

Grabbing their weapons, they were all out of the hut, Kaede being the only occupant.

 

'Be careful little ones for I feel immense power from this demon. Powers not from this world.'

“Thank you for dinner Mrs. Higurashi. I must be on my way now.”

 

“It was my pleasure Shiori. Hope you come again.”

 

“I'll see about that.” Shiori replied and turned to Souta. “See you in school?”

 

Souta nodded. “You bet.”

 

She turned to Kagome. “It was nice meeting you Kagome.”

 

“Yeah you too.”

 

“You must have a lot of work to do. And it seems some people are in need of your services. Better hurry they're calling for you. Bye!” With that she disappeared down the stairs.

 

While the other two went in, Kagome stood outside in shock of what Shiori just said.

 

'Wha-What was she talking about? She knows something I don't. There's something strange about her. Could she know about the Feudal era?'

 

“Kagome come in already! You don't wanna freeze do you?”

 

“Coming Souta!”

 

On her way in, her last thought was, 'Something big's coming up. I can feel it.”
