Chapter 3

 

In the forest, InuYasha was running by foot with demon speed whereas his other companions were on board Kilala in the sky. They were heading towards the source of the unknown demonic aura they had sensed previously.

 

“InuYasha I sense great power from this demon.” Miroku stated.

 

“Yeah I do too. What kind of demon has this strong aura anyway? Dammit! It makes me wanna crawl in a hole and never come out!”

 

“Do you think it's Naraku?” Sango asked.

 

“I don't believe it's him. From the demon's aura, it's way stronger than Naraku.” Miroku replied. “And I don't feel the presence of Naraku either.”

 

“Could it be another enemy after the jewel shards?” Shippou asked.

 

“That's possible. The only thing being that we don't have any jewel shards at the moment. They're all with Kagome.” InuYasha replied. “But whatever reason why the piece of shit is here, we're gonna find out!”

 

And they moved faster. Suddenly, a dark figure stopped in front of them, making them halt. InuYasha glared and smirked arrogantly, flexing his fingers at the same time. Miroku, Sango, Shippou and Kilala were directly behind him.

 

“Keh so you decide to show yourself. Come out and show us what the hell you are!”

Kagome sat in her room, working on her algebra homework. From the looks of it, it wasn't really going well.

 

“AAH! I can't figure this out! What does the quadratic formula have to do with any of this! At this rate I'm gonna fail Math!” She sighed. “I give up. I'm going to bed. But before she could move, she heard something, or SOMEONE calling out to her.

 

“Kagome...”

 

Suddenly alert, she got up immediately and stood her ground, waiting for something to pop out from nowhere.

 

“Kagome...”

 

“Who are you? What do you want with me? Are you after the jewel shards?”

 

“Kagome... Do not be afraid... For I am not your enemy... I do not wish for the shards of the Sacred Jewel...”

 

Kagome relaxed a bit but tensed up again. If this person was not after the shards, what did he or she want? One thing she knew was she wasn't worth a penny. So what was going on here?

 

“What do you want with me? Where are you anyway?” There was silence until the voice spoke.

 

“Kagome... Look out the window...”

 

Kagome did as instructed. On top of the roof, she saw a creature with the head of an eagle, claws armed with talons and wings covered with feathers, the rest of the body being that of a horse. It possessed fairly little fur that was smooth, naturally sky blue in color but appeared almost white under the moonlight. The wings were spread and the creature stood in glory. But what caught Kagome's attention were its ocean blue eyes. They looked like they were boring (Is that the spelling? Oh well...) into her soul, looking for something. They seemed to have to have the same intensity SHE had, both reflecting the same personality. There was something familiar about it, but what? They both stared at each other, until Kagome broke the silence.

 

'It must be a female. She's beautiful.' “W-Who are you? WHAT are you? How did you get into this world? Where are you from?”

 

“I, Kagome, am a hippogriff. But I feel that doesn't matter now... All your questions will be answered soon enough... As you'll regain your memories that were lost Lady Elfi...”

 

“What?” Kagome gasped. 'But how is that possible?' “What's going on here? How am I involved in any of this? Who IS Elfi?”

 

“I will explain everything to you later... But time is running out! You have to go back to the Feudal era! Your friends need your help...”

 

“B-But h-ho-”

 

“Let's go Kagome... I'll explain everything soon...”

 

Kagome was reluctant, but for some kind of reason, she felt she could trust this creature. With her final decision, she nodded.

 

“OK let's go!”

“Keh so you decide to show yourself. Come out and show us what the hell you are!”

 

The figure emerged from the shadows, its feet crushing the leaves on the ground making rustling noises. The head and wings were like that of an eagle and the body was that of a lion's. The fur was greasy black and had spurts of crimson red on the edges of the feathers on the wings and hair on the tip of the tail. The scariest part were the blood red eyes which held a promise of death and suffering. What looked like a smirk appeared on its face. The others stood their ground, shaking on the inside from fear. There was a staring contest until InuYasha spoke.

 

“What the hell are you supposed to be?”

 

Throaty laugh came from the beast. “Why I am a griffin, surely you remember me My Lord.” It laughed and continued. “Or maybe not... Hahahahaha...”

 

“Oi shut up you deformed bird! I definitely gonna rip your freaking head off that's for sure!”

 

“Hm still as arrogant and hot-headed as always. Or could it be sexual frustration?”

 

InuYasha looked taken aback. “What the fuck?!”

 

“So where's your fiancée?” It looked round the area. “Strange I expected her to be here... Oh well my master will be pleased... Once I get rid of you!” With that said, the griffin sprang towards InuYasha, its talons glistening in the moonlight. InuYasha and the others evaded the attack on time, only for InuYasha to be attacked by the griffin. With a few dodges and attacks, InuYasha got frustrated. 'I'm sick of this! Dammit!' He removed tetsusaiga from its sheath, swung it and got ready to strike the enemy down. With its defense open, InuYasha had the chance to use his attack.

 

'Now's my chance!' “Feel the raft of my Wind scar!” Five beams of energy were shot towards the griffin. The weird thing was it remained still, waiting for the attack to hit it. Once it reached its target, there was a large explosion. Everyone waited, tension in the air as the smoke cleared.

 

“Did he get it?” Shippou asked.

 

Once the smoke was gone, all that was left was a bare patch where the creature stood. InuYasha placed his sword on his shoulder, a cocky smirk on his face.

 

“Keh guess it was all bark and no bite.”

 

“Don't just celebrate yet half-demon.”

 

The group looked up only to see balls of fire falling from the sky. Luckily, they were able to dodge them. After the attack, the griffin landed on the ground unharmed. Anger building up in InuYasha, he ran towards the bird and swung his sword. It took off in mid air and headed straight towards him. The others just watched the duo fight.

 

“That thing's fast!” Shippou exclaimed.

 

“And powerful too. It was able to evade the Wind Scar that quickly.” Sango stated.

 

Miroku closed his eyes in deep thought. “This power I'm feeling is deadly. I have a feeling that we're gonna need something more powerful to bring it down.”

 

“But where did it come from? I've never seen any demon that looked like this. And did you see the eyes? They're colder than Sesshoumaru's and Naraku's combined.”

 

“I know what you mean Sango. To be honest, one glance from it made me want to run and never come back. That look could kill a mere human that isn't strong willed.”

 

“I hope InuYasha would be OK.”

 

“We hope so too Shippou, but knowing our stubborn thick-headed friend, his pride has been bruised. So now he'd want to fight the battle on his own.”

 

Being helpless, the only thing the comrades could do was watch their friend. Back to the fight, the griffin brought out its talons to hit its opponent, InuYasha rolling sideways getting a deep gash on his right arm. Out of worry, Miroku, Sango and Shippou called out to him.

 

“InuYasha!” They ran towards him, but he stopped them.

 

“Stay back! I'm gonna kill the damn bird on my own!”

 

“Stop being so stubborn and let us help you!” Shippou yelled.

 

“Shut up!” He replied as he dodged another attack. Once the bird got closer to him, he hit it with his sword. The griffin yelped from pain and examined its wound. Black blood was dripping from the wound on the side of its body, burning the ground as if it was acid.

 

“Heh you're not bad mutt. I'm impressed you still have the skills.”

 

“Oh I'll show you more than that! Backlash Wave!”

 

The attack hit it but what happened was not what they expected.

 

“No way!”

 

“He absorbed the backlash wave!”

 

The creature mockingly laughed at them as they looked at it in surprise.

 

“Ha my turn!” It spread its wings and whirlwinds bigger than what the attack had produced appeared in front of each wing, energy swirling in each of them. The others backed up.

 

Feeling the danger they were in, InuYasha exclaimed,“Oh damn it all! Everyone move now!” Miroku and Sango went on Kilala while InuYasha grabbed Shippou. They ran and flew as fast as they could but it was too late for them.

 

“Backlash Wave Reflection!”

 

The attack hit them full force sending them to the ground. They had scratches and bruises all over their bodies. Smoke emitted from them as a result of the energy. Pain washed all over their bodies and they found difficulty in moving.

 

'Dammit! He reflected the Backlash Wave! That's one hell of a stubborn bird. How am I gonna defeat him?'

 

A shadow loomed over InuYasha. He looked up and saw the griffin, mischief and death in its eyes.

 

“Ha ha ha! You're pathetic! I expected more of a fight from you!”

 

It pushed InuYasha to the side, hitting his wounded arm.

 

“Damn you... Damn you to hell!”

 

“Oh don't worry, you'll be there soon. After all I'm doing you a favor by sending you back home.”

 

The griffin brought up its paw over his chest, talons out getting ready to strike InuYasha in the heart. The others could only hopelessly watch as their friend was about to be killed. Everything was in slow motion as the talons were brought down. InuYasha closed his eyes, waiting for the final blow. He felt helpless, not being able to move. His tetsusaiga was too far for him to reach.

 

'So this is it huh? This how I'm gonna die.'

 

“InuYasha!”

 

The talons were inches from his chest, a single move would kill him. He could feel them piercing through his skin, blood slowly dripping from the wounds that were being inflicted. His body felt like it was being ripped apart, his breathing heavy. Voices of his friends were heard but he was slowly losing consciousness. As the pain increased, flashes of people appeared in his mind, the last one being the most important to him.

 

“INUYASHA!!!”...

 

Well I'm stopping there! Just have 2 wait 4 the next chapter which I'm working on right now to see what happened. Pls leave a review!
