Chapter 4 In The Cold Night She Will Wait

It didn't last that long by the time they were all tucked in she had slipped back to thinking again. Mostly about her sister. She sat up in her discomfort and stood up in the dim lit one room hut. The fire was dying and it was the middle of the night, she went for a walk, or at least tried to. On her way to the door she tripped and went sprawling out the door. “Stupid.” She mumbled. She didn't know what she tripped over but it was manly and big. It didn't bother her any, she kept on walking.
Inuyasha on the other hand had been the thing she had tripped over and thought she had done it on purpose, and went after her. She was walking towards the spring again. He followed secretly from the trees above. She picked up timber to add to the fire. He thought. `She was just cold.' But she didn't return to the hut after picking up a pretty decent amount. She started a fire right there on the bank of the spring. She started to take off her shoes.
“What are you doing now?” he whispered not looking for an answer. She slipped out of her socks and walked slowly into the water. All the way up to her shoulders. Her clothes still on. She suddenly ducked under the water and stayed down for a while. She reappeared about ten feet away from where she went down. Her sigh was audible to her surroundings. He jumped out of the trees in the forest and made his presence known.
“Kagome?” he yelled just enough for her to hear him approaching.
She jumped a little “Y-yes?” she called back to him as he appeared out of the trees. “And what do you want right now?” she looked miffed.
“Hey you're the one who tripped over me. I couldn't get back to sleep when you walked out.” he crossed his arms for more of an effect. She trudged out of the water.
“Well …I don't know.” She sat in front of her now blazing fire. “I wanted to be alone again.” It was all she said for a few minutes. She started to shiver from the cold wind blowing in from the trees. He took off his Robe of the Fire Rat and placed it around her shoulders. He welcomed its warmth. “Thanks” she whispered as she closed her eyes.
