*The Shopping*

Kagome headed up the stars in her usual fashion, for her everything was a ritual. If she got off beat who knows what would change? Kagome did not like change. She never changed anything she did on the first few nights of her dream, though her nightmares didn't scare her as much as they did those three months ago. She didn't want to risk loosing her nightmares. Funny don't you think, someone wanting to keep their nightmares. The truth is that Kagome had gotten to the point to where she looked forward to her bad dreams. She wanted to see what would change, what new clues would be given. She had gotten hooked on that ever changing story that only she could watch.

She walked back into her bright pink room, gods she hated that color. The people who lived here before them had a young daughter and she LOVED pink! Her mom refused to let her paint over it until they knew they were going to stay here. That's why she was going to the mall today, they had a paint shop there and she wanted to redo the work of the little monster. Maybe a nice dark crimson color would make her feel better; it reminded her of the boy in her dream. She would find the color that matched his shirt, which would help her to concentrate and remember.

She heard her mom's warning about how breakfast was almost done, so she grabbed the red sleeveless and baggy blue jeans that she laid out yesterday, and headed for the bathroom. Her entire wardrobe, with the exception of a few dresses, was made up of almost identical outfits to that of the boy. He always wore the same thing, and so did she. A red shirt and blue jeans, it was `her' outfit. She always cut the knees out, and never got anything tight; it was always loose or really baggy. Just another thing she never changed.

After brushing her hair and teeth she headed back down stairs to breakfast. Chocolate chip waffles with two strawberries and whipped cream. Her mom made it for her to cheer her up after her nightmares on the first few days and now she always made them, yet another thing that never changed. Kagome sat down on the second chair to the left, her usual place (<my seat^__^) and waited for Souta to drag himself down the stairs yawning and rubbing his eyes

After Souta sat himself down at the table she started eating, she needed to leave before he fully came to his senses and ask to come with her. Then if she said no he would start crying and her mom would scold her and say that Souta has no friends yet and that she should spend some time with him. So she would have to take him. She finished her waffles, washed her dishes and headed out the door just as Souta opened his mouth to say: "Hay sis, where you going?"

She began the slow walk to the mall, walking helped her to clear her mind. She needed to think, she always needed to think. She felt the gazes of several people as she made her way to the large three story shopping paradise, a few girls walked by and snickered, and some little kids were pointing looking on in wide eyed amazement, a guy leaning up against his bike spit soda out all over himself at the sight of her. Kagome was used to it though; she was the one who chose to dress unusually, in her baggy blue jeans and red sleeveless. Most of the people here dressed in plastic miniskirts over shinny spandex and shirts with detachable sleeves, how annoying. The makeup made them look like mirrors didn't exist and their hair was done up in sixteen ponytails or towering cones that looked like they used an entire bottle of gel.

When the one and only stop light in town turned red she crossed the street and walked into the huge parking lot of the Hundreds Fold shopping mall. She stepped onto a black mat and two doors materialized out of nowhere then opened in acceptance of the new customer. A gust of cool air raced across her face as she stepped into the main entrance. She gazed around at the floating fountains and holographic plants, the bustling shoppers going from one store to another and back again, how would she ever find the little paint shop again?

Last time she saw it she was at a coffee shop with a boy she had met at the entrance, his pickup line was the usual I haven't seen you around here before, are you new in town, can I give you a tour? Kagome had eventually caved after several minutes of his pitiful attempts at small-talk and aloud the young boy to escort her to the movies, restaurant, and coffee shop for some coco. There she spotted the colored sign and painted windows of the humble little shop.

She wondered if she could find it again she didn't remember the name and the boy had practically dragged her there so she couldn't get a good look at where they were going. She walked up to the center fountain and placed her hands on the copper plaque. In response it lit up and a Three D hologram of the mall appeared before her, she touched where she was at and it immediately zoomed in to the main entrance. Slowly she scanned the lists of shops and meeting locations trying to remember where the boy had been.

She touched the pharmacy and it zoomed in, then she retraced her steps from there going back to see the full mall layout. There were three theaters in the mall, she touched the one that looked familiar, from there she would have to look for a coffee shop within two minutes walk.

"Could you hurry up please?" a girl asked from behind her. "If you're looking for a suitable outfit the stores are over there." She sneered as she waved her hand at the many flashy shops; several people snickered at her bad attempt at an insult. Kagome just ignored her and continued to search. The girl began to belt out more of her unimaginative insults and soon got so annoyed that she grabbed Kagome's arm and spun her around so that she was screaming in her face. Kagome just stood and blinked as she stared at the shouting teen, what had she done to the girl that made her so mad?

"Will you just shut up already?! It was amusing at first but now it's just pathetic! Why don't you let the girl finish what she's doing?" Everyone turned to look at a woman standing across the fountain tapping her sneaker toe on the polished tile floor, arms crossed over her t-shirt and her dark brown hair pulled back in a low ponytail.

"What you gonna do about it bitch?!"

Kagome used this distraction to grab the girls hand off her arm and swim around to where she was holding the girls hand behind her back in a rather painful position.

"Ow, that hurts! Bitch, get off me!" the teen cursed Kagome out till her throat was soar but Kagome's grip never loosened.

The woman from before walked around and placed her hand on Kagome's shoulder telling her to let her go and Kagome complied. She walked away with the women, having almost completely forgotten the paint shop.

"What was that girl's problem? She was acting like you had been up in her face! I cant stand people like that, making a scene just to make a scene, but you sure showed her, I mean that was great, you just swung around and did that and she was-"

"You know you have to breathe sometime…" Kagome cut in.

"Yeah, it's just I don't usually see that kind of stuff around here, mostly all the girls just yell and scream at each other. It's the guys that fight, and still not very often, by the way, my names Songo."

"It would be kinder just to hit them, and I'm Kagome."

"What were you looking for at the guide anyway?' she asked, suddenly.

"Oh, yeah I was looking for this paint shop I saw across from a café I was at one time, but I can't remember where it is or the name. What are you laughing for?!" she stared at Songo who was holding her side and leaning up against a shop window so that she wouldn't fall.

"I'm so sorry but that's just too funny, you see, I know exactly where…I-I work there…It's the only crafts-shop in the whole mall!"

Kagome just stared at Songo unable to move, all she had to do was bring up a list of paint shops and she would have had it. She slumped down beside the still laughing Songo and sighed.

"Awe, cheer up. At least now you know where you can find it," she stated pointing to the shop they were sitting by.

Kagome stood up and walked back a few steps to get a full view of the store. The sign above read Pierces Paint Job, onthe window was painted a rainbow with the words Bring Color To Your Life painted along it. A girl stood on the rainbow painting a smiley face and sunglasses on the sun. Songo stood holding the door open and smiling at her.

"Come on, I need to get to work and I'm guessing you need paint."

A/N: Hey all! I'd like to thank FormerlyOrb and sesshoumaru_kagura, you two are my first reviewers and I'm glad you like it. I hope you like this chapter; Inuyasha will be making an appearance in the next chapter, or rather a disappearance, no, I think the first was best…maybe…

Anyway, thank you to those who have been reading as well, I know from experience that sometimes its better not to review…but it's also good to make the authors feel good. So anyway see you all in about a week! ^-^
