A man stood watching the people move around from above the moonlit street, unconcerned with those petty little people who went about their lives like ants. Even in the darkness his eyes could see perfectly the drunkards as the stumbled out of the bar. One was an oddly dressed woman. She wore a brown trench coat with a white shirt under it, which was only visible at the top of her trench coat. Around her neck was a tie. The bottom revealed a pair of blue pants and brown boots. Her dark brown hair cascaded down her back and into her face. She took a few steps before falling on her face. A woman with dark hair wearing a white top and skirt and the same blue pants stormed out apparently annoyed with the larger girl. The platinum haired man just laughed at their antics. Suddenly another form approached behind him. “What did you find out?”

The other man shrugged softly. “Nothing important really, he’s here that’s for sure. A spiky haired blonde in a trench coat, we have our target, and…” He trailed off.

The platinum haired man whipped around quickly. “And what?” He asked sharply. “It’s not like you to hold back anything. You’ve been shooting your mouth off since you were a little kid, squirt.”

The newer arrival looked down. “A priest is accompanying him which means that a certain wolf might not be too far behind.”

The platinum haired man groaned. “Shit he’ll interfere. I never understood what why he likes that walking disaster. Well it’s not my problem.” he said annoyed.

The younger man jumped off the roof and landed gracefully on the ground. The platinum haired man walked over and looked down. “What do think you’re doing?”

The second man looked up. “There is something amiss, a feeling I haven’t felt in some time…”

The platinum haired man jumped off the roof and lit beside him with ease. “I told you a million times now, there is no way in hell that you two would meet, she left you years ago and is not going to return. I still miss her but I don’t go around looking for her, now drop the fucking idea that she’s ever going to be found. She’s lost to the sands of time!” He said in a very angry voice.

The younger man shrank back a bit but quickly scampered into the darkness as the platinum haired man turned around. “Why in the hell does he think that she could be anywhere alive, she wasn’t on the seed ships and the earth is nothing more than a wasteland by now.” He said as he sprinted off into the darkness himself.

The younger of the pair was dressed in a bright blue shirt with matching pants. His green eyes showed a little bit of age but also his happy go lucky attitude. He kept his dark brown hair short. His feet were covered by a pair of loose shoes with no socks. He walked into the bar and sat down next to a man with a cross covered in cloth. He turned to the man and sighed softly. “Are a priest?” He asked hesitantly.

The man looked over and nodded. “Yup, my name is Nicolas D Wolfwood, traveling priest.” He says cheerfully. He reaches into his bag and pulls out his portable confessional. “Do you have something you want to confess?”

The man shook his head. “No, I’d just like an understanding ear and advice.”

The priest frowned a few ashes from is cigarette fell to the bar. “What seems to the trouble?” he asked in a somewhat concerned voice.

The young man sat down. “Well the trouble is that I have an issue with letting go of a woman. Let me start off, my name is Jack and I was orphaned when I was five. Soon after I was orphaned I met a woman who became my mother in all regards. When I was ten she left and I hadn’t seen her since. My question is do I keep up hope or do I let go of her?”

The priest frowned for a few moments. “Well Jack I would say that when God wants you two to meet again he will, as for keeping up hope or giving up, hope is a powerful force that can change lives. I would say that it does no harm to keep up hope that she would come.” He finally answered.

Jack nods softly before getting up. “Yeah I guess you’re right.”

The priest gets up. “Remember to be forgotten is worse than being lost.”

With that exchange over the priest picks up his cross and walks out of the bar along the way he bumps into a man with jet black hair wearing a tee shirt with a brown vest over it with a pair of brown shorts. The newest arrival. His sky blue eyes studied the newest arrival. “Let me guess, you’re upset because you thought you saw her again aren’t?”

Jack looked at this newest arrival. “Oh how did you know?” He said dryly.

“Because she’s the only one that could ever drive you into a bar, besides I overhead your conversation. Well I have news for you, if you had a nose as good as mine you’d realize that my woman is in this town somewhere. I followed a certain friend here and her scent hit my senses like a ton of shit.” He said excitedly.

“That’s nice, but do you really think that if she were here we would’ve found her by now? It’s kind of hard to hide your presence in this place.” Jack said disbelievingly. “Besides you know who would’ve found her by now, he doesn’t admit it but he misses her just as much as I do.”

The new arrival laughed. “His senses have dulled with the time away from her, he didn’t care enough to remember her heavenly scent and lets face it, you aren‘t known for your sharp sense of smell.” He said happily.

Jack looked up at the bartender. “Need a round of beer here.” Jack turned back to the growing nuisance. “Why don’t you stop playing pretend here. She and I had a love deeper and purer than anything either of you had with her.” He said a little bit irritated.

“Wait a second, I understand what she felt for that dog turd was nothing more than simple sympathy but I follow my heart when I look for her.” He said a bit too loud.

Jack shook his head. “Are you sure you’re not thinking with another body part? Say the one a certain monk tended to favor over his brain?” He asked sarcastically.

The bartender finally poured Jack’s beer and sat it down in front of him. The other man was starting to get annoyed with Jack so he quickly departed. Jack guzzled the beer and set down the mug. “Barkeep keep ‘em coming, tonight I don’t want to remember anything.” Jack said in a voice full of regret.

The bartender complied as Jack drank the night away while his partner was on the prowl.

Jack’s partner slowly slid down the dark streets and alleys to the hotel. His target was rumored to be in hotel but no promises were made. He slowly climbed his way up to the rooms using a rope that was secured earlier. Along the way a familiar yet distant feeling hit him. “Damn it Hige pull yourself together.” He mumbled to himself.

With a few more pulls on the rope he was at the window that the uneasy feeling was emanating from. His curiosity got the better of him as he peered into the room. He saw nothing of interest in the darkened room so he continued up the rope. When he reached the room he silently made his way into the hotel. He slid down darkened halls, but soon the unnerving yet comforting feeling came rushing over him once more. He stopped and shook his head for a moment before moving on. As he made his way down a side hall a hand reached in and pulled him into a room. There he saw the man who had bothered his partner earlier. “What’re you doing here wimpy wolf?”

He laughed softly. “The same thing that brings you here dog turd. My woman.”

Hige grinned softly. “So you finally found a girl who would submit to you? Well call it a national holiday, but I have other business to take care that doesn’t concern you. “

“You actually expect me to believe that dog turd, you must’ve smelled her too, which led you this place. You don’t have to act dumb even though you are.” Koga countered.

“Listen you wimpy wolf, I have bigger things to do than listen to your ramblings.” Hige growled before leaving.

Hige finished exploring the hotel with no luck what-so-ever. He went back to the bar and sat down in beside his partner. “No luck, but what the hell was he up to?” Hige said aloud.

Jack turned to Hige. “You know Hige I ran into him and he said she was back. I know it’s strange but I saw her.” Jack explained.

“Jack you can’t be serous. I thought I felt her presence but I know it’s only that time of the moth is nearing.” He growled.

Jack shook his head. “Believe what you will Hige but something is defiantly up.”

With the conversation over both men got up and left the bar
