Chapter 1

Three years later... Western Tokyo, Japan 2007 5.15pm

Gales howled and leaves flew in the autumn-turned winter air. Birds were singing there last songs before sleeping for the winter, insects buzzed in the long grass as if it was a rainforest. But this is no rainforest...
The streets of Tokyo which were once filled with people and moving cars in the evening rush hour now were empty and nature was retaking its world. Even the deer which would never really step foot in human territory now roam free under the skyscraper buildings.

The peaceful afternoon for the wildlife was interrupted by the roar of an engine of a speeding car, dashing through Hino city. The red and white sports car carelessly drove in the middle of the road, the curves and evening the pavement, taking quick turns around the corners.

A young woman sat in the driver seat, looking content and emotionless. Her shoulder length raven-black hair blew with the draft as her window was open. On the seat next to her was a machine rifle gun: the Eagles Claw was made in 2004, just before the military- enforced quarantine on the city. Also on the seat next to her sat her youkai neko companion: a white cat with silver glowing eyes. She looked like she was bigger than the average wolf. Sprouting from her backside are three tails marked with greyish-blue stripes.

The neko meowed a little at her owner: to which the woman saw as a question to have her window open so she can lean her head out. The woman smiled and did her request.

Suddenly the neko raised her head, as if trying to look over the horizon.

“What is it? What do you see?”

At that moment, a herd of deer stampeded in front of their car, trying to jump away from the approaching vehicle.

The woman spun around the car, grabbed her gun and aimed at the deer. But the animal she was aiming at pulled a fast one on her and dashed on a tight right that led to an underground tunnel.

The woman literally almost broke the brakes as she halted the car in front of the entrance of the tunnel. Then out of nowhere, the dying bellow of the deer could be heard from the tunnel.

“Another hiding place” the woman whispered.

At that moment her alarm clock on her digital watch rang to warn her how close it was to dusk.

6pm

With that the woman drove out of the street and towards the shrine that was her home.

*******

The shrine was quite an old and slightly large place. What it was most famous for was the 500 year old God Tree and the Bone Eater’s Well.

Kagome Higurashi, now at 25 years, parked the sports car in the driveway- hiding place before going towards the stairs. Before going up the killer stairs, she took a bottle of improved bacterial killer and spilt the liquid on the way up. She put the bottle away the moment she reached the front door. Not only is the liquid a bacterial killer but its smell is chokingly unbearable. So it’s perfect for masking her scent.

Her Neko friend, Hope, sniffed the air and nudged her owners hand towards the Well House.

Kagome looked across only to sense nothing. After these years, her spiritual power remains. She sighed when she can remember the day she came home to apply for college.

A few years after the defeat of Naraku and her graduation of middle and high school, she applied for biology in college. Her successes in college lead her to University. Eventually her talent was picked up by the military. At the age of 21 she became the best doctor there was. That was until Dr. Krippn created the cure for cancer.

She recalled the day when she came back from the past to hear about Dr. Krippn’s work.

Even after these years Kagome could still travel back and forth in time. Over these last Years, InuYasha matured a lot more and also began to understand and work better in the modern era.

Miroku and Sango were now happily married and at the time were expecting their third child.

Kaede was still alive and kicking. Shippo grew to such a gentle loving boy. Kikyo was resting in peace and Kohaku was slowly but surely recovering from his past and his skills as an Youkai taijiya.

Over these years, the relationship between InuYasha and Kagome improved for the better. They got really close and eventually confessed their feelings. However because of the job and position Kagome has, her time at home to spend time with her family and friends as been limited.

As she stepped out of the well house her younger brother, Souta, who was now 18 called out for her.

“Sis! Thank goodness you’re back. You’ve got to see this!”

She followed him into the living to see the news report of Dr. Krippn’s success for cancer.

Late that night in her room, Kagome couldn’t get the report out of her head. A cure for cancer? Was it safe to actually engineer a deadly virus into something helpful?

She was cast out of her thoughts when a light tap at her window and a voice she knew and loved came.

“Hey Kagome! It’s me! Open up already”

She grinned. InuYasha really hasn’t changed much. She opened her bedroom window to allow him in.

“Geez Kagome. Before you never locked your window... now-“

He was cut off when Kagome wrapped her arms around him, sighing. She lifted her head to meet his eyes and smiled.

“InuYasha you wouldn’t believe what Dr. Krippn created”.

“Her again? Let me guess... she create the next generation of a mongoose which turned out it was rat with a long neck?”

Kagome giggled at this a little, even though it wasn’t really the best joke in the world...

“Well I wish...but no. Come downstairs. It’s a good thing I taped it”

She showed him the video of Dr. Krippn’s report on her cure for cancer and HIV. Kagome taught InuYasha about cancer and HIV and how serious they can be and how sometimes they cannot be cured...until now.
“So... she’s really done it huh?”

“Mmm...But to me it sound risky engineering a virus like that”.

At that moment the phone rang. Kagome answered it and was asked to go back to HQ tomorrow morning.

Let me guess, so Dr. Krippn can rub her success in my face?

“Called away again?”

“Yeah they want me back tomorrow morning”.

She turned around and grinned at InuYasha before taking his hand and leading him upstairs.

“Everyone has gone out so we have a few minutes”

InuYasha chuckled a little. As soon as the door to her bedroom closed, he pulled her into a passionate kiss. She moaned when his hands began to wander...

Kagome blushed heavily as the memory overwhelmed her. She missed InuYasha. At the moment on the other side of the well, he was asked to aid a battle with his half brother Sesshomaru. Kagome convinced him to go but at times she regretted it.

With that she sighed and entered the house.
