Chapter 5

~Ominous Presences~

The Next Morning, Yet Again.

Talk was circulating around the table about who could've made the fruit drop over the men's side of the hotsprings. Kyo had in mind a surprise for Kate, he planned to show her after her friend had left to meet Lord Sesshoumaru. He felt so moved by the Inu-taiyoukai female. At the time everyone was eating their usual breakfast. Jessica felt nervous about meeting Lord Sesshoumaru. What on earth could he possibly want from me? He had already left to deal with some urgent business, so she decided to leave, too.

Kate watched her leave and grew furious. She hated Sesshoumaru with her life, but had to obey every whim since she was staying within HIS castle.

Jessica walked out onto the grounds. Her bangs and two small strips of her hair fluttered in the wind. the rest she had in a bun secured by two hair sticks that were the same color as her necklace. Sakura blossoms settled in her hair. She knew Sesshoumaru would never break his word.

Sesshoumaru came soon after she had arrived and found her relaxing under the tree as usual. It seemed to him that it calmed her. Her eyes were closed and her head was bowed. He gently touched her shoulder. Her muscles tightened, then relaxed. She gave him a quizzical look. He brought out two pillows to seat themselves on. Jessica naturally followed the country's customs and kneeled while Sesshoumaru sat cross-legged.

"You and you friend can travel with me, Rin, Jaken, and Aun."

"Really, I would love to, but if you're hoping Kate will back down, you're sorely mistaken. She can't stand for you to be around me."

Sesshoumaru regarded this with coldness in his eyes.

Kate was spying on them in the garden. She had been laying in the cool shade of the beautiful gardens on the grounds. Seeing her friend with Sesshoumaru she allowed her memories to show themselves.Kyo was practicing with his his sword and the smooth swishing sound lulled her into her memories.

She was at the edge of a battlefield dragging injured men to the side to get treated. She saw a female Inu-taiyoukai rush out and slash the same enemy as Kate's. However, they overwhelmed her. Another Inu-taiyoukai quickly ran to help. He threw them off of her and a child like her ran out yelling for her mother. Many of the injured men saw what was going on. Kate's mother grabbed her shoulder and gently squeezed it. The scent of blood filled the air and the young Inu-taiyoukai child's cries could be heard. With the other group of taiyoukai, the enemy was quickly defeated, but a valuable warrior and a loving mother was lost in the process. And a new friendship was born.

"Princess, are you alright?"

Kyo had seated himself beside her and was staring at her intently with his cerulean blue eyes. She was startled he had slipped so close to her. She blushed slightly.

"Yes, I'm alright. Just delving into memories."

"One as beautiful as you should not be delving into memories, but, making them."

She did not understand anything he had just said. So he took her hand and pulled to her feet.

"Come with me. I'm sure you don't feel reassured watching your friend Lord Sesshoumaru together."

She gave him a piercing glare. He only laughed lightly.

"If you keep doing that, you'll look like a sour old woman."

Kate couldn't help but crack a smile.

"Come with me."

Kate followed Kyo through the garden. He led led her into the deepest darkest area of the garden. She saw a cave and a rope at the entrance. Kyo picked up the rope and tied it to Kate's waist. Then he tied it to his own waist.

"If you don't want to get lost, I suggest you leave the rope on."

"What?"

"Just follow me, you'll see why."

He took her hand and led her into the cave. They were engulfed in it's thick darkness as soon as they entered it. Every time she stumbled, Kyo was there to catch her, which was alot, since Kate was naturally clumsy. It was a long time before they reached any kind of light, and most of that light was held back by a door. Slivers of colored light seeped through.There was enough light for her to see Kyo untie himself and go to the door to open it. It took Kyo a great effort to open the heavy door. The cave was quickly filled with bright light.

"Oh wow! It's beautiful!"

Kate saw that this part of the cave had multicolored crystals all around. One single beam of light lit the whole cave. Kyo cut a piece off effortlessly and carved it into the shape of a lotus flower. He carved a tiny hole and threaded a gold chain through. Kate stared at it in shock. Is he going to give that to me?It's so beautiful. She looked up at him as he put it around her neck. She noticed his eyes were so full of many feelings and love was one of them. She tried to thank him but nothing came out.

"Come. Let us leave. Sesshoumaru is expecting me in the library soon."

Jessica was waiting for them when they came out. Kyo walked past her giving a small smile and a nod. she smiled widely when she saw the necklace.

"Somebody has a boyfriend," Jessica said in a sing-song voice.

"Uh....um," was all Kate could manage to get out.

"Love Puppy!"

"Don't call me that!"

And for a while Kate and Jessica argued over this relationship, meanwhile..........

Sesshoumaru was in the library waiting for Kyo.

"You know she is ready to leave this castle don't you?"

Kyo nodded.

"Yes, My Lord. I understand."

"She longs to be part of the outside world, it's impossible to keep her here. And I very well know that she despises my presence."

Few Hours Later..........

"Please play with me?!"

"I have said no, you impudent child!"

"Please Mater Jaken?"

"No!"

Rin was pestering Jaken when Sesshoumaru had come out of the library.

"Oh! Milord, do you have any important chores for me to do," Jaken asked, just so he could get out of playing with Rin.

"Jaken, fetch the ball and take Rin outside. I'm sure the two Inu-youkai girls would be delighted to play with her."

"Yes, Milord."

Jessica and Kate were teasing the fish in the pond when Jaken came out.

"Lord Sesshoumaru has ordered that you play with Rin."

"That's much better than hanging out with a green toad," Jessica replied.

"I'M NOT A TOAD! I AM A KAPPA!"

"You look like a toad to me. They're green and ugly and so are you, so what's the difference," Kate asked him.

Jaken turned red and plopped onto the bench muttering about delinquint Inu-youkai. Rin came out with a leather ball. That was enough to make their Inu-youkai senses soaring.

"Here catch," Rin said as she tossed the ball.

Jessica quickly went to catch it, but instead of her, Kate had it and rammed it into Jessica's face. Jessica retaliated by throwing it into Kate's abdomen. And what was supposed to be a peaceful game of toss turned out to be a game of wit and speed. Jaken laughed every time one of them was knocked down, so Jessica put an end to that by promptly chunking it at him and knocking him out. Rin was enjoying getting the ball for them when it flew too far and Sesshoumaru came out after he had heard Jaken hit the wall. He never neglected to step on him when he was in the way.

He saw that they were moving faster after they got hit and they learned to dodge better. When Jessica saw Sesshoumaru, she abruptly stopped and went to meet him. Kate stalked off muttering about him ruining her day. Rin and Jaken had left to prepare for dinner.

"You would make a skilled warrior."

"That's what your father said so many years ago."

Anger and pain flashed in his eyes.

"Do not talk about him in front of me."

Sesshoumaru was heading up the stairs.

"Why not?"

He didn't answer. She followed him and touched his left shoulder lightly and he quickly turned around and with his poison whip cut her on her cheek. She fell back, her face filled with shock and pain. He looked at her coldly and she got up and ran off. She rushed out of the castle gate and into the outside world.

Naraku saw the girl run out of the gate. He smiled to himself. Now I meet these so-called Inu-taiyoukai princesses.

 

 

 

Author's Note: Ha! Finally, after so long I can get a chapter up. Naraku finally is about to make his move. Yay for the evil jerks that make these stories worth reading! I have a little more that I came up with when I went to Germany, besides, I nearly laughed my as off when I heard Miroku's voice in German. Man He sounds weird.
