*sob* no reviews but I'm kind and generous so I'm going to go ahead and post the next chapter. I will not be able to post again until after school starts, I'm leaving to go on a cruise!! ^_^

 

Chapter 2: Packing

 

“Kagome! You have to leave in an hour to get there on time!” shouted Mrs. Higurashi from the bottom of the stairs.

 

“I know mama!” Kagome was frantically packing with Inu-Yasha standing by. He looked to her full quiver of arrows.

 

“Aren't you going to bring those?”

 

“I can't, no weapons allowed” she said without looking up

 

“….I'll be right back, don't leave without saying goodbye” he jumped out of the window and was out of sight.

 

`whats with him?' thought Kagome. She shrugged and turned back to her suitcase. Everything was in it, but there was the issue of closing it. She sighed and tried, it was about five inches away. Grunting, she pressed down harder, it still wouldn't budge. Inu-Yasha came back to see her sitting on the suitcase.

 

“What are you doing?”

 

“Ah!” Kagome have a yelp and jumped up brushing her skirt. “I couldn't get the suitcase closed” she said blushing. Inu-Yasha looked at it and reached over with one hand to snap it shut

 

“That's it?” her face was still red, but he could see it was in anger not in embarrassment “I wouldn't use `it' if I were you.”

 

“Why not? And what are you hiding anyways?”

 

Inu-Yasha pulled out a fire neko that looked like a little Kirara “it's parents were killed by a serpent demon, Kaede took care of her for a while but doesn't have the time anymore”

 

“Aww” Kagome reached out to the kitten and cradled it in her arms

 

“Take her with you, instead of Buyo. Even though she's still a kit, she can do more than that fat cat”

 

“Don't call Buyo fat!” Sensing Kagome's anger, the little neko transformed into its battle form, only without the huge saber fangs and fire. The size was the same as Kirara's though. Kagome laughed “So they can transform at an early age”

 

“Yeah, but its more for show than fight, without the fangs its pretty defensless and it can't fly yet. In a few months or so her fangs should grow in”

 

Kagome rubbed the neko under her chin “Does she have a name?” the cat calmed and returned to its tiny kit state.

 

“Not that I know of”

 

“Hmm…how `bout Hotaru?” Kagome looked at the tiny kitten “Do you like `Hotaru'?” The little kit mewed “Hotaru it is then…but everyone knows Buyo, I think they would notice the difference.”

 

Inu-Yasha looked from the cat to the fire demon “Here” he slipped off his Fuyouheki ring and handed it to Kagome “Change the spell on it to make Hotaru look like Buyo” Wordlessly, and a little surprised, Kagome put Hotaru down and took the ring and put it into her palm. She concentrated and a blue aura appeared around her. She opened her eyes when the aura disapated. “There, now I just need a collar or something”

 

“Won't a collar choke her when she transforms?”

 

“Oh, I didn't think of that” Kagome looked from the ring to the neko. “What about on one of the tails? The base of the tail doesn't change that much and it shouldn't be too tight” Kagome picked up Hotaru and gently put the ring on its tail. “Now to test it, Inu-Yasha pick up Buyo and follow me.” Kagome walked out and headed to the shrine grounds still holding Hotaru. She found her grandfather putting scrolls around the house. He heard them coming and turned around

 

“Aieee! That damn cat doubled!” He ran over and threw scrolls on both cats which naturally, did absolutely nothing.

 

“Thank you grandpa” Kagome gave him a kiss on his cheek and headed back.

 

“Eh?” shrugging it off he went to give another tour of the shrine.

 

Kagome was laughing as she went back to her room “Oh my god, did you see the look on his face?”

 

Inu-Yasha smiled as he put Buyo down.

 

“Kagome! Time to go!”

 

The two teens turned to look at each other. `its only for a week, shouldn't be so bad' thought Kagome as she held back tears.

 

`damn, a whole fucking week' Inu-Yasha shuffled his feet “um, I'll take your stuff down for you”

 

“Thanks…” he effortlessly picked up the suitcase and cat carrier and brushed past Kagome taking the load outside to the car. Mrs. Higurashi had the trunk open and was already in the drivers seat.

 

“Hurry up! We'll be late!” she said impatiently.

 

“Well this is it” said Kagome.

 

“Feh” Inu-Yasha turned his head to the side.

 

“Bye Inu-Yasha” she opened the door to the car and placed Hotaru in before sliding in herself. She turned to look back but Inu-Yasha wasn't in sight. She sighed and closed the door before putting her seat belt on “ok mama, lets go.”
