Miroku Moonlights
On the Night of the New Moon
The afternoon was warm and dry weighing heavily on the group of jewel seeking travellers. The dog eared half demon seemed to be the most upset about it and was constanly letting it be known with audible protest and fidgeting.
"Will you stop sighing Inuyasha. What's wrong with you anyway?" Kagome snapped becoming irritated herself with the half demon. She'd been walking a few short steps ahead of him and trying to ignore his disposition since they set out that morning.
"Yeah you'e acting funny, it can't just be the heat." Shippou quipped from Kagome's shoulder. Behind them Inuyasha snarled at the little fox, crossing his arms and turning his head away.
"No its not the stupid heat." He replied visciously. "Its just- Its nothing." His voice lowered on the last few words. Miroku sidled up beside him placing a hand on the other males forehead. "What the hell?" Inuyasha pulled back.
"Well you're not feverish and it can't be heat stroke." The monk inquired.
"Maybe he's just tired," Sango offered joining Miroku near the half demon. "The fight with that demon last night did take awhile."
"Inuyasha tired, no way." Shippou replied. He and Kagome stopped with the others to look their friend over. The little fox hopped off her shoulder on to Inuyasha's.
"Leave it alone will ya! I'm fine." The bitter male griped flailing his arms to remove the people surrounding him. Kagome stood back having a sense of dejavu. She thought for a moment that this pattern of behavior seemed strangely familiar. Not that the half breed having an angry disposition was anything new but for some reason this particular behavior was standing out.
'I know Inuyasha's been this way before but when?' She placed a finger to her chin and thought it over. "That's it!" She exclaimed out loud. The others stopped assualting Inuyasha with false concern and turned in her direction.
"What is it Kagome?" Shippou asked from the ground, where Inuyasha had plucked him off his head and threw the little guy down.
"Its that time of month again isn't it Inuyasha?" She spoke with a sly tone of voice.
"What time?" Sango asked not understanding.
"Rrr." The half demon growled with warning but the futuristic girl kept going.
"Oh you know Inuyasha's monthly night of volnurability." Kagome explained.
"Oh right its a new moon night isn't it." Miroku spoke up smiling sheepishly to himself remembering the night of the last new moon a month ago. The group had taken shelter in a deep cave hoping to keep hidden form any trouble until Inuyasha's powers returned- not that he and Sango couldn't have handled any trouble either way. He and Inuyasha were up all night guarding the others while they slept. Luckily there were no attacks and they'd managed to enjoy some long awaited free time to themselves and for the first time with Inuyasha in human form.
"Oh yeah is that today?" Shippou straightened himself up.
"So that's why you're so uptight." Sango concluded. The half demon had his eyes closed and teeth clenched if it were possible there would be steam rising out of his little doggie ears and nostrils too.
"Uh huh," Kagome went on. "Guess Inuyasha's just in a bad mood because he doesn't want to be useless again when Naraku and his minions are always a few steps behind us."
"I am not useless!" He bellowed back.
"Of course not Inuyasha even in human form you can always manage to lend a hand." Miroku spoke with a hint of secrecy behind those words that only his demon lover would understand. Inuyasha did remember the last night he'd become human and what he and Miroku did just a few feet away from the others while they slept. Miroku was persistant in getting the half demon to relax and not worry so much and his damn human emotions were getting the better of him forcing him to give in. So a few feet away from the cave where the others were asleep the two of them relaxed all over each other. Though he'd never admit it now Inuyasha really enjoyed that time, the way Miroku nibbled on his human ears just like he would with demon ones. How extra sensative his body was to the monks touches. Coming back from the memory the white haired teen blushed a bit hoping no one noticed, he turned to face away from them.
'Its not gonna happen again monk, this time its just too risky. Kagome's right, Naraku really is closing in on us with all those damn incarnations of his, we can't be caught off guard.' He firmly told himself. He opened his golden eyes to find Kagome's peering back at him.
"Geez you must really be upset to just shut down like that."
"I'm not upset and I'm not useless. Just concerned that's all. Now's not a good time for my powers to be out of commission."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Sango remarked.
"Yeah what are you so concerned for anyway Inuyasha?" Shippou added hopping back up to Kagome. "Its not like Miroku, Sango and Kagome can't protect you."
"I don't need anybodies protection." Suddenly a whirlwind of dust rushed towards them without notice or warning and stopped right in front of the group.
"Kouga!" The group spoke in unison.
'Where'd he come from I didn't even sense his jewel shards.'
"Need protection from what?" He strode straight to Inuyasha making the half demons bitter disposition even worse. "You puttin' my Kagome in danger again mut face?"
'Oh boy this is the last thing Inuyasha needs today.' Kagome thought.
"First of all she ain't your anything and this is none of your business. So why don't you hand over those shards and go jump off a cliff."
"Tch, you wish mut." The two were already in a stare down and stand off waiting for the other to make a move or speak.
"Maybe having Kouga around would be good with Inuyasha being po-" Miroku snapped a hand over Shippou's mouth before the little fox could finish his sentence. This caught the wolf's attention.
"What about me being here?" He asked turning to them with arms crossed.
"Aheh heh." Miroku laughed sheepishly hoping to ward away the raised brow of curiousity on Kouga's head. "Shippou's just trying to get Inuyasha riled up because he threw him to the ground awhile ago, he didn't mean anything by it." Letting Shippou's mouth go he whispered into the little demons ear. "Are you crazy if Kouga knows about Inuyasha's change it could be bad and will upset Inuyasha even more and he'll probably take it out on you." With a smile the monk backed away.
"Yeah but what if its true and Kouga really can help us tonight?" The fox went on.
"Help you with what, someone better start makin' sense right now or I'm not goin' anywhere. If Kagome needs my help I'm gonna help got it?"
"We might as well tell him I don't see what harm it could do." Sango spoke to Kagome.
"Alright. Well ya see Naraku's been really headstrong lately about hunting us down and Inuyasha's worried that he might not be able to protect us if there's an attack tonight because....." Kagome's words trailed as she looked at her dog eared friend. "Because-"
"Because he's going to lose his powers tonight during the full moon." Shippou finished for her. Inuyasha growled glaring at the big mouthed fox.
A smile played on Kouga's lips. "Is that so, I knew you were weak dog breath but losing your powers completely- no wonder you're so concerned."
"Shut it wolf." He warned but his adversary ignored him going over to Kagome and grabbing her small hands.
"Well worry no more Kagome your prince is here to protect you in place of this worthless coward."
"Uh thanks but I don't think that's necessary."
"How's she gonna get out of this one?" Miroku whispered to Sango who stood nearby.
"Hm."
"You see I-" Inuyasha broke their hold and stepped between the two.
"Back off! We don't need your help for anything. Kagome's gonna be perfectly fine with us now get lost or I'll give you a reason to run off with your tail between your legs, that is if I don't rip it out of you first."
The others winced at the half demons harsh words. Kouga scoffed but backed away nonetheless. "Whatever but I'll be back tonight to make sure and if you doofs are in trouble I'll get Kagome to safety while the rest of you fend for yourselves, if you're capable of it." With a haughty laugh he took off waving to Kagome behind himself as he went.
"Damn pest." Inuyasha huffed. He walked away from the others to sit heavily on the grass by himself. Kagome looked to Miroku assuming he'd be the one to handle Inuyasha but the monk gave no signs of moving.
'Oh right they haven't told the others yet, only I know the two of them are together. Guess it'd be awkward if Miroku suddenly tended to Inuyasha in a kind gesture.' Strolling over to Inuyasha she knelt down beside him using a cheery voice hoping to fix things. "I have an idea Inuyasha," She started.
"What, you wanna run after Kouga and ask him back to stay with us because poor half demon Inuyasha can't protect you?"
"Aheh," She waved her hand dismissing his ridiculous notion. "No no, I was thinking maybe we could go back to my place for the night."
"You mean in the future era?" Shippou came from behind the two to join the conversation.
"Uh-huh."
"And what good is that gonna do?" Inuyasha pouted.
"Well for one it'll keep you away from Kouga if he does come back and two with us gone Naraku will have no one to come after, and we'll be safe."
"Makes sense but is it possible?" Miroku spoke from a short distance away.
"We'll never know unless we try and what harm could it do? I bet Souta would get a real kick outta seeing your human form." She added off-hand.
"What do you think Inuyasha?" Sango joined the others. The half breed was thinking it over with a bitter face as the others watched him carefully.
"Alright fine, if we have to." They all sighed inwardly with relief. "But I still say I could have taken care of things here, "not like it hasn't happened before."
"Yeah and everytime we've been attacked and you nearly lose your life trying to defend us." The raven haired school girl added. Inuyasha scoffed but didn't protest.
"Ah, its settled then," Miroku brought his hands together. "We head back to the Well to get Kagome and Inuyasha to safety for the night. And don't worry we should all be fine here with Kaede."
Kagome gasped. "Oh no, I forgot about Kouga."
"What about him?" Inuyasha stood when Kagome did.
"He said he'd be back didn't he?"
"Don't worry Kagome we'll handle it and let him down gently." Miroku assured her.
"We'd better head back then the afternoons coming to an end already and we're some distance from the village. Come on Kilala." The two tailed demon cat meowed in response transforming to her larger form so the travellers could get on. Kagome went with Inuyasha.
"Another day wasted." The hanyou grumbled to himself before taking off into the woods............
The others saw the two off into the Well before heading back to Kaede's place. "Alone again." Shippou mumbled once they reached their destination. Miroku felt sympathy for the little guy. Not that he wasn't glad for his friends safety, but he was really hoping to see the hanyou in his human form a second time and he wanted to see all of him.
"So you've returned without Inuyasha and Kagome." Kaede greeted them at the doorway of her cottage.
"Its a new moon night and we thought it'd be best this way for protection." Sango explained.
"Ay very true indeed. Well then young fox no sense in ye' moping about it come and help me with the meal preparations." The old woman turned back inside.
"Okay." Shippou spoke lightly already cheering up at the thought of food. The little cat demon followed suit. Miroku and Sango stood outside a moment as the sun began its first stages of setting.
"Do you really think Kouga's going to come back for Kagome?" The demon slayer asked.
"With that guys convictions I'm almost positive he will." The monk answered. 'And that might not be such a bad thing after all.' Miroku thought off handedly a mischievious smirk played across his mouth.
"Miroku, what are you thinking?"
"Oh nothing, just of a way to amuse myself tonight."
The slayer rolled her eyes heading inside to join the others. "Sorry I asked." Miroku watched her go with a solemn expression on his face.
"Sorry Sango. I wish you could understand and know I'm not intentionally trying to upset or hurt you but the times just not right to tell you the truth yet. So just believe I'm a flandering jerk for a little longer." He spoke to the air space she had occupied minutes ago. 'Now how to convince Kouga to join me tonight thats going to be a problem.'
---------------------------
In future Tokyo Kagome brought a fidgety Inuyasha to the house. "Stop that twitching Inuyasha, what are you so nervous for? Its just my family and they'll get a real kick out of seeing you fully human." She had a light laughter about her tone that made him growl.
"And that's just it. I'm not some spectacle to be gawked at for their amusement. Haven't I had enough from you and the others seeing me this way the first time?"
"Yeah well get used to it. And better them than Kouga right?"
"Whatever." He followed after her arms crossed and head down. For a brief moment he looked up. The sun was already beginning to set and he could feel the change welling inside of him. He suddenly stopped just as they reached the front door. "Wait."
"What now?" Kagome turned half way to see him, a hand resting on the doorknob.
"I don't want them to see it happen just like that." His face was turned away from hers in hopes that she wouldn't see his embarrassment.
"I don't know why you're having such a hard time with this you actually look kinda cute in your human form." The girl teased causing his blush to deepen.
"Just shut up alright, I'm staying out here." His mind was made up and Kagome could tell so she gave in.
"Fine but I'm not leaving you out here all night. How about I mentally prepare the others for you first so when you come in it won't be too bad?"
"If thats what you want." He grumbled.
"Good, you can stay in the shrine then, for your privacy." She mocked missing his angry glare as she opened the door and went inside. He could still hear her shrill voice from inside once the door closed. "Mo---m, Grandpa, I'm home and I've got a special guest!"
"Damnit all." He shook his head and then headed back towards the Higurashi shrine. Stopping at the entrance he looked back out at the sky reflecting the separated colors of the once bright yellow sun. There were only minutes left before night fell completely. "This is so stupid, I should just go back now and leave Kagome here. She'll still be safe and I won't have to go through the scrutiny again." Going inside he sat at the edge of the well and waited the final minutes out.
Inside the Higurashi home Kagome sat with her family in the living room, all eyes were on the girl as she finished explaining the situation. Her little brother Souta was the first to speak up.
"So you're saying Inuyasha isn't all demon and on new moon nights he turns human?"
"Yup, no fangs, no claws, no little doggy ears. His eyes and hair even change color its really something."
"Wow." The boy sat back in his seat in awe. "That's so cool!" He declared.
"Very interesting." Her grandfather spoke inwardly.
"So where is Inuyasha dear?"
The girl turned towards her mother. "Hiding outside, for some reason he's shy about letting you guys see him."
"Well that won't do at all," The woman stood. "We'll just go out and bring him in. There's no reason he should hide from us." The others followed after the womans lead.
"Yeah he's practically family when he comes here." Souta added going after his mother and grandpa to the front door. Kagome remained seated getting more nervous by the minute.
"I don't know if that's such a good idea. Inuyasha can be real cranky on these nights." She warned them but to no avail.
"It'll be fine child." Her grandfather said just before disappearing out the door.
"I sure hope so." 'Then again Inuyasha can be really nice sometimes once he's turned human.' She recalled the last few times they'd been together on those nights. 'Better hope for the latter then.' Standing she went outside to join the others.
The half demon now human was sitting idly on top of the well inside, he stared at his hands and short clawless nails then used them to scratch his now black hair. He sighed then gasped as a light suddenly came from nowhere shining above him. "Huh?"
"Is that him?" Ms. Higurashi questioned as her father held the lantern as far down into the hole, where the old well sat, as he could.
"Yeah I think it is." Souta spoke excitedly. "Hey Inuyasha why don't you come up here?" The boy called down.
Looking up Inuyasha knew it was Kagome's family but there was no sign of the girl herself. "Damnit." 'So much for doing it subtlty.'
"Don't be shy Inuyasha, Kagome explained everything to us and its ridiculous for you to stay out here hiding and I've got dinner waiting if you're hungry but you'll have to come inside to get it." The girls mother tried coaxing him.
Inuyasha grumbled to himself ready to settle in on stubborness until Kagome's voice joined the others.
"She's right Inuyasha, they already know and you can't stay out here all night."
"Says you!" He called back.
"Fine then I'll just come down and drag you out. You're only making things harder ya know." The girl was already starting towards the ladder when the hanyou gave up and stood.
"Don't bother I'm coming up alright."
"Good." Kagome went back up and they waited for Inuyasha to climb out once he was there they all stood back, grandpa holding the light up to the young mans disgruntled face as they gaped. It was Souta who approached first for a closer look, he snatched the half dogs hands and looked them over. Then he felt the hair which stood out the most even though it was no longer white. Trying to pull the demon down so he could get a look at his ears- that was when Inuyasha snapped and pushed the kid away.
"Alright! Did'ya get a good enough look kid?"
"Sorry its just so... cool."
"Ok thats enough lets go inside now and give Inuyasha some space." Kagome broke the scene up.
"Right I have to get dinner on the table, please stay and join us Inuyasha, there's plenty." They all headed back to the house with the exception of Kagome and a pissed half demon.
"Sorry, I tried to keep them back but they insisted on coming out here."
"..."
"It wasn't that bad right? No different from when the rest of us saw you. Now stop pouting and lets go. This was a good cause remember, keeping us all safe and the nights not even that long, we'll be asleep through the most of it." She grabbed on his folded arms pulling them apart and dragging him towards the house.
"Yeah fine. Just stop pullin' me."
---------------------------
"Mmmm. That was a good meal Kaede." Shippou announced once finished, he layed back patting his full and happy belly for emphasis.
"Why thank you child."
"Its already well into the evening," Sango spoke looking out the window. "I wonder how Inuyasha is fairing with Kagome's family?"
"Yeah is it even possible for him to change form in the future?" Shippou asked sitting up.
"I don't see why not," Kaede answered while she and Miroku began to put away the dishes from their dinner. "From what I've heard he has wielded the Tetusaiga there and can still use his demon powers, why not lose them as well."
"It has to be interesting for them all I'm sure." Miroku added. "Well that's that I think I'm going to head out now."
"Where are you going Miroku?" Shippou asked.
"Probably out flandering." Sango replied before Miroku could open his mouth.
"Well yes but not alone. You see I was going to look for Kouga and see if he would join me."
"You have no shame do you monk?"
"Its actually quite beneficial to us if he does come along with me. The plan is to get Kouga to meet another nice human girl so his mind is off of Kagome." He explained. "And hopefully for good. Wouldn't that please Inuyasha to find out upon their return?" He gave a bright smile that didn't fool any of them.
"Makes sense." Shippou tried to understand.
"Oh for the love of- just drop the excuses and go already." Sango turned away crossing her arms in a huff.
"Ay." Kaede agreed solemnly. For the time she's known the young travellers its always been the same with that monk. Excuses for his dishonorable behavior with woman. She shook her head in disappointment.
"Fine, I can tell when I'm not wanted." He slipped out of the door but poked his head back inside to add, "Don't wait up." further confirming their suspicions that he was going out purely to satisfy his own needs and not for any noble reason. If they only knew what needs those were.
Once outside Miroku headed towards the woods that would eventually lead out to the mountains, which would hopefully lead him halfway to Kouga if the wolf demon was truly returning for his unrequited love- Kagome.
---------------------------
"Meoow." The large white and brown spotted cat stared awkwardly at the no longer half demon and it was poised to attack. Inuyasha stood frozen on the spot with a bitter expression plastered to his face. While the furball slowly walked circles around him just to stop in front of him again and hiss. Inuyasha growled and snatched the cat up by the tail causing it to release a loud screech.
"What's with this thing?" When the cat began to struggle and claw at him he dropped it so the furball could sprint away.
"Cut it out Inuyasha Buyo just doesn't recognize you I guess. Give him time."
"Tch."
"Never mind him its time to eat." She called from the kitchen doorway and turned back inside. Inuyasha was reluctant to join them knowing a barrage of questions and hard stares was waiting for him but the smell of hot food caught his nose even without the heightened sense of smell and he couldn't resist. Plus he'd always liked Kagome's mothers cooking just as long as she didn't over do the spices.
------------------------
Miroku sat patiently against the trunk of a large tree with a small lantern lit beside him for lighting. 'What am I doing out here, this is wrong.' He began rethinking his plan. 'Kouga is Inuyasha's enemy and rival in love. Although there really is no love between him and Kagome or Inuyasha and Kagome, atleast not in that way.' He sighed glancing around for any signs of the demons whirlwind of speed, nothing yet. 'But then again if I did manage to get Kouga off of Kagome it should still please Inuyasha, but he probably wouldn't like my methods too much.' He heaved a sigh.
Its not like this sudden hunger for the wolf demon came out of nowhere. It was just after they rescued Kagome from him some months ago. He was awed at the wolf prince's sense of pride and his open and domineering ways of declarations to Kagome. How he stood his ground with the half demon but always knew just when to back down. Miroku didn't want to admit it then but he found it all endearing and cute actually.
Kouga's traits were some of the same qualities he'd seen in Inuyasha himself but still completely opposite of one another. So he found it only natural now that seeing Kouga again and not having Inuyasha around to sate his desires he would turn to the other demon to do so. Most importantly he was hoping that his plan would work to seduce the wolf demon leader and eventually introduce the idea to Inuyasha and convince him that "three's not a crowd". The thought of his dog eared lover's reaction made him wince and shiver in the warm night air but he shook it off, already having decided to go through with it, with or without the wrath of Inuyasha bearing down on him.
"A small price to pay for a better future I'd say."
Just as his thoughts finished the object of his newly and welcome desire was heading his way. A tornado of dust and wind was all he could see but he knew it belonged to only one. "Showtime." He stood brushing anything from his clothes that might have stuck during his sit. For a moment he thought the demon had missed him since Kouga's tornado went right by but the other was just taking awhile to stop. Coming to a hault a few steps past the monk the dust clearing, the wolf leader stood hands on hips looking around with a confused and bitter expression. Even that made the monk smirk with fruition. The harsh sound of a gruff voice broke through the night air like Sango's Hiraikotsu slicing through the body of a demon.
"Alright, where is she?" The wolf bellowed. Still looking around for Kagome, knowing the friends usually traveled in a group and if the monk was there the others should be as well.
Miroku stepped a little closer to the other. "You mean Kagome I pressume."
"Of course Kagome. Now tell me where she is monk."
"Always with the attitudes in these demons." He mumbled following it up with a sigh. "Kagome and Inuyasha have returned to the future world through the old well."
"What?,,,, When? Why?"
"They left before sunset and it was Kagome's idea so they'd both be safe from any enemies should they attack tonight while Inuyasha is well less competent physically."
After a moment of letting the words register Kouga growled inwardly. "That damned mutt he planned this all along didn't he? Less competent my ass. Another lame excuse to steal Kagome away and hide like the coward he is. Wait till I get my hands on him."
Miroku couldn't help but smile a little at the childish rant. He then cleared his throat to try and work his finesse before the wolf got any angrier and fled. "Yes well they'll return in the morning if you'd like to stick around and wait. Perhaps I could keep you company."
This stopped the demons pacing and quiet ramblings and he stared at the monk with question. "Come again?"
"I meant if you were in need of company tonight I could accomodate you until morning. Then take you to Inuyasha and Kagome. I assume you don't know where Lady Kaede's place is much less the well they travel through."
There was a moment of frozen time between them before the wolf demon broke into a haughty laughter. Miroku didn't waver, he knew from the beginning this wasn't going to be easy. So he stood his ground and waited.
"What would I wanna wait around with you for? And I'm more than capable of finding my way and sniffing that mutt out when I need to."
"I'm sure you are but the nights just begun and there are ways of passing the time without notice."
Kouga gave a bewildered face that slowly melted into realization as Miroku came a little closer. The young wolf put up his hands to ward him off. "Hey now, I don't know what you think is gonna happen here but I ain't interested."
"Aren't you though?" Miroku stopped a good few feet away so not to scare Kouga off. "It must get pretty lonely up there in the mountains for someone like you."
"Tch, what lonely? I'm the leader of an entire tribe, we're a pack we don't get lonely."
"Understood but for a pack you sure wander away from them alot on your own and when I mean lonely I don't just mean for companionship."
"Huh?"
"There has to be another reason why you come after Kagome so much. You're young, you're a man with needs like myself so its only natural but Kagome's not really into you that way."
"W-what are you saying."
"I'm saying that I might be able to help you if you let me." Miroku closed the space between them but kept his hands to himself as an attempt to show the other he meant no harm. The wolf demon made no moves to back off, either from fright keeping him still or it was as Miroku hoped and the young wolf was curious, or better just as needy as the monk himself. Taking the oppurtunity to act on his suspicions Miroku quickly pressed his mouth to the others in a non intimidating kiss. Naturally Kouga gasped but for some reason he didn't pull away. Miroku ended the kiss himself after a few seconds, a smirk playing across his lips.
'Defenitly curious.' He thought to himself. "Just as I thought." He spoke to a stunned Kouga but his voice brought the other out of his shock.
"Huh, wha- what did you think?" He recovered from his haze and got defensive. Something else the monk was prepared for courtesy of being involved with Inuyasha.
"Oh you know, I just thought that you'd be a good kisser and I was right."
Kouga gave a disbelieving expression but he seemed to relax in his defenses. "Yeah well, whatever. I'm outta here." Before he could turn tail Miroku called out to stop him, although for a speed demon his attempt to flee was slower than it should have been.
"Wait, just tell me one thing when was the last time you've been with someone else in...... an intimate way?"
Kouga grit his teeth and turned back to face the other, fist balled. "That's none of your business!" Miroku unconciously laughed at the younger only making the problem worse. "What the hells so funny monk? Think I don't know the ins and outs of -of..."
"Intimacy?" Miroku offered. Kouga's brows furrowed more. "My apologies if it came across wrong. I'm not saying you don't. I simply meant the two of us could do each other a favor, even if it's just this one night."
Kouga gave him a curious look but remained quiet.
"Well don't you have anything to say?"
"You're kidding right?"
"Not at all. I think it'd be fun and we'd both be benefitting from it." A smile came across his face as he noticed the wolf demons opinion wavering and to his favor.
"Nnyeah, I don't know."
"Alright then how about you let me take care of you and I won't expect anything from you in return and I'll still show you to the well tomorrow, how's that sound?"
Placing a hand on his chin the wolf prince thought it over long and hard, giving Miroku glances every once in awhile. The other waited patiently looking over the wolf demon himself and his mini fur skirt, those long tan and muscular legs. 'Come on just give in already!' Miroku thought impatiently but his face held nothing but patient contenment.
"Deal but you tell anyone about this monk, especially that dog breathed mut and I'll kill you and its not cause I need it or anything you just seem so desperate is all."
"Aha," Miroku raised his hands in defense. "Understood well then, shall we?"
---------------------------------
After dinner Inuyasha and Kagome retreated to the girls room. Inuyasha was left behind while Kagome took a bath. He spent twenty minutes sitting and staring at everything his eyes fell on in the room. From the picture of Kagome and her family to the fringed end of a curtain that had a small string hanging from it. Then he caught a look at himself in the mirror that hung on the closet door. He glared at his human form the black hair and eyes then he scoffed and looked away. Sighing heavily and lied back on the bed he'd been sitting on. 'Come on Kagome how long does it take to bathe?' He silently griped and seconds later the door opened and in popped the girl he'd been silently hurrying.
"I'm here." She anounced.
"Bout time I'm getting bored."
She went to the closet putting away the things she'd brought with her. "Yeah and what do you want me to do about it. Souta's still up or Gramps, maybe Buyo's finally ready to accept the new you and you could play with him."
"Yeah right." He turned over on his side and watched the girl take a seat at her desk across from him. They stared at each other for a moment in silence and the half demon didn't appreciate the look on his friends face. "Hn... what?"
"Oh nothing, I was just wondering if maybe you miss Miroku or something."
"What?" He sat up suddenly looking like a deer caught in the headlights but he quickly put up his cool face. "What makes you think that, not like I mentioned him or nothin'."
"I know and thats what makes me think you are thinking about him. Its ok if you are, its just us here you can talk to me." He scoffed again turning his head away from her. "Come on, let's talk its been awhile since the two of us just chatted privately."
"What is this? Do I look like Sango to you? Or Shippou for that matter, save your girly talk for them."
"Its not like that, I just wanna know how you two are getting along thats all."
"Oh, well then we're fine. Happy now?"
"Ugh." Kagome stood form her chair mumbling something about 'Human or demon he's hopeless.' She sat down on the bed next to him forcing the other to scoot over. "Look Inuyasha I'm not prying or anything just curious. This whole you and Miroku thing is still new to me and.... different so its only natural that I'd be a little interested ya know?"
"I guess but what exactly do you want from me?"
The girl gave a wicked smile. "That means you'll answer my questions then?"
"....." He stared at her hopeful face, hands in prayer as she waited for him to answer. "Rrr fine ask away but if I don't answer to your liking thats just too damn bad." He warned her.
"Sure sure." 'I knew his human self would be a little more open than the half demon Inuyasha, I could probably get him to say anything if I worked him right.' "Oh wait!" The teen was suddenly struck with an idea her outburst startling Inuyasha who was grumbling to himself about the same thing Kagome was just thinking and how his human self was way too easy.
"What are you yellin' about now?"
"I just had a great idea, snacks, can't have a good gossip session without food." She said already racing out of the door.
"Huh, hey wait a minute Kagome I thought you said this wasn't girly talk?!" His words went unheard or ignored because she was already gone. Crossing his arms he pouted a little more knowing that he had fallen into the girls trap.
------------------------------
It didn't take long for the wolf demon to fall into the monks seduction. After a few awkward moments of start and stop, with Miroku trying to kiss and touch Kouga while the demon teen kept stopping him but would always give in again seconds later. Now the two were deeply enthralled within each others arms and tongue wrestling against a tree. Miroku had the wolf pinned to the large tree trunk expertly kissing the other into submission. To his surprise Kouga was a decent kisser after a few tries and learning to get it right and do his own thing with it. Miroku was enjoying himself more than he thought he would, concious and Inuyasha aside for the time being.
It was time to break this heated kiss, which was exactly what he did. Kouga gasped for air while Miroku busied himself kissing around the wolf's neck and using his hands to reach under the fur garment the demon wore. He made a bold move and gently touched the newly built erection hiding beneath that cloth. It elicited a gasp from the other but no protest for the monk to stop. Permission granted Miroku worked his way down further but kept Kouga's chest cover on knowing it was their first time he didn't want to go too far just yet. As much as he wanted to see a completely bare Kouga he could wait for another time should it arrive. Down on his knees now he smiled at what was waiting for him beneath the lifted fur.
Before doing anything more he looked up to find the other looking back with nervous but hungry eyes. "You sure about this now?" He asked.
Kouga swallowed hard but nodded his response. With no more hesitation Miroku gave the tip a lick then a few more before sliding the well endowed erection into his mouth but not taking it completely. Kouga let out a slow moan at the new feeling that sent a shiver up his spine. He'd never admit it to the monk though or anyone else for that matter that this was his first real sexual experience. He'd known that a few of his pack members were doing things like this with each other, he'd even accidently seen a few of them once or twice, but he never tried it with them himself. He knew someday he'd find someone to do... it with but he had no idea it'd be this monk, Miroku. A companion of his rival that dog eared nuisance Inuyasha. He was always hoping after having met Kagome that she'd be the one and after that, as he's said before, wolves mate for life and she'd be his with no way out of it.
All that logic and wishful thinking went right out of him escaping through his parted and panting lips with every stroke of Miroku's hand on his groin and every suck his mouth gave the front of his memeber. 'Damn humans.' He mentally cursed.
Continuing his assault with his mouth Miroku took it a bit further sliding his hands behind Kouga and began caressing those firm cheeks with them. It was apparent that Kouga enjoyed the motion so he deepend it every once in awhile dipping his fingers between the crack massaging the inside. He wished he could go further to enhance the experience but again he had Kouga's state of mind in mind and didn't want to ruin anything before it finished.
He continued kneeding the wolfs backside and sucking harder and harder feeling the boy above him begin to quake in the legs and knowing what that meant he began working on bringing the boy to climax. Kouga's sounds filled the night air as he clawed at the tree bark some falling away from his grip while he climaxed. It was one of the best feelings he'd ever experienced in his young life. When it was over his eyes were hazey and his legs gave out from under him. Miroku caught him before his body could hit the ground and he lied him down carefully so the other could rest. Ignoring the strain in his own pants and the sweat forming from heat and having kept all of his robes on, Miroku lay beside the other on his back.
A smile came to him as he turned his head to see a contented look on the wolfs face. 'A job well done I'd say. Now if only I didn't have my own problem to worry about.' He glanced down at his own unsatisfied erection waiting to be tended to. The thought of taking care of it himself came to mind but was interrupted from a groan beside him. "You've come back to me."
"Ha, that was alright monk." Was all Kouga could manage to get out of his dry and cracked throat. It earned him a small laugh from the other. Then he slowly gathered some strength to get himself off the ground and to a sitting position. Miroku sat up with him. A silence fell over them, Miroku wondering how he's gonna manage if Kouga decides he really doens't want to return the favor. While Kouga's head was swimming with questions and confusion. He knew what kind of guy Miroku was from hearsay and first hand but what does this mean for himself? Has he turned on Kagome? Does he have to be with this monk now? After a few more minutes Kouga worked up the nerve to speak. "So what now?"
Miroku sighed. "Now, well I guess we part ways, unless you'd like to try again maybe a little differently?"
"Differently?" Kouga looked away registering that idea. "No not now. Geez I don't know. I have to go." He stood up and Miroku silently cursed himself for having suggested that but he wasn't really thinking with his brain at the moment.
"Wait Kouga what about Inuyasha and Kagome?"
He froze. "...Doesn't matter now. It was probably better that they left if it meant Kagome's safety."
"I see.... well then are you alright?"
He gave himself an overlook not sure what kind of alright the monk was talking about. "Yeah, uh thanks I guess..."
Miroku could tell things were getting uncomfortable so he decided to end this now and save the poor soul. "Good so I'll see you around maybe?"
"We're bound to run into each other again if thats what you mean."
"I hope so."
"....Yeah see ya." With that Kouga raced off before Miroku could reply. The lone monk sighed falling back to the ground.
"I hope I didn't just make the biggest mistake of my life."
--------------------------------
"No Kagome I won't talk about that with you."
"Why not? Most guys like to brag about those things."
"Are you crazy! And what guys have you been talking to like that?"
"Well none, but I've heard it in school a few times and from T.V- well that was back when I had time for those things."
"I can't believe you."
"Alright alright just forget I asked." She waved it off before the hanyou became any angrier. They'd spent a good few hours of the night talking about anything that came to mind, mostly Kagome prying into Inuyasha and Miroku's love life. He was glad that she'd finally accepted them and wasn't hurt by it anymore but he didn't appreciate her overly curious questions.
When a yawn escaped her Inuyasha looked the girl over. "Don't tell me your tired already."
"Yeah why shouldn't I be its almost midnight."
"Maybe but we've spent entire nights awake fighting demons before."
"Exactly and its very tiring so when I get a chance for a real bed and a decent sleep I like to take it. So get off." Grumbling he did as she demanded and went to the place she'd set on the floor for him with a futon. The girl sighed after getting in the bed and under the blanket. "That's better."
"Hn."
"It'll be sun up soon I bet you're happy, you survived another new moon and without having to put your life in jeopardy."
"Yeah right." He turned to his side to look away from the girl that was staring down at him from her bed.
"Hey Inuyasha,"
"Yeah." He held back a yawn of his own not realizing that he was getting tired himself.
"I still get why you guys are keeping this a secret but I just hope things don't go wrong."
"What do you mean wrong, how could it?"
"I don't know, when you have to tell Sango or for any reason I guess."
"Gee thanks for ruining the mood."
"Sorry, I wasn't trying to say it in a negative way. More like I hope you guys have a long and happy relationship but if you don't come out with it to everyone that might be harder for you. I'm sure Sango and Shippou will understand and you've got me to back you up if you need it."
"Yeah... you'd better get some sleep now. We'll be leaving first thing in the morning."
"Sure, and I really am happy for you and Miroku. From what you've told me he's perfect considering his reputation and all."
"Kagome..." His voice was mildy threatening, she could tell his demon self was already returning.
"Alright, alright. Good night Inuyasha."
He just raised a hand for her to take the hint. 'Something could go wrong... yeah right.... we're fine everythings fine. Why would she even say that?'
---------------------------
Back in Feudal Japan Miroku returned to Kaede's early in the morning to not very welcoming faces. "Uh good morning." He offered.
"Long night huh?" Sango replied bitterly.
"Not really I just decided to spend the night outside it was such a lovely evening."
"Yes I'm sure the evening was lovely." The demon slayer was all ready set for the day ahead hoisting her weapon securely onto her back. "Lets go Shippou, Kilala. I'm sure Inuyasha and Kagome are on their way."
"Okay." They all left the small cottage leaving Miroku to himself.
"Guess she's upset with me."
"Ay."
"But honestly lady Kaede I was only doing as I said keeping Kouga busy."
"I not be the one ye need to convince."
He sighed shaking his head and left to follow after the others. 'That's the least of my worries right now, I'll have some kind of hell to pay if Inuyasha ever catches wind of this.'
Once they all got to the old well, sure enough, the two were arguing their way out of it. Inuyasha returned to his half demon self lugging the girls back pack out for her. While Kagome complained following after him.
"Welcome back you guys." Shippou jumped onto Kagome's shoulder and she placed a hand on his head to greet him back.
"There wasn't any trouble around here was there?" Inuyasha asked.
"No everything went fine." Sango answered.
"What about Kouga, did he come back looking for us?" The new aged girl asked.
"Yeah," Inuyasha sniffed "I can still smell that mangy fur of his around." Miroku swallowed hard at the statement.
Shippou spoke up. "We're not sure but Miroku said he'd take care of him."
"You, how so?" Kagome asked.
"It was nothing I just explained the situation and you know he can be very understanding given time."
Sango rolled her eyes knowing that he wasn't going to tell them that he took Kouga to find woman in the village last night. 'Typical.'
"Huh, what do ya know," Kagome seemed surprised but also disinterested. "well then let's head back to Kaede's I brought some stuff for our trip and breakfast if you guys haven't eaten already."
"Oh boy." While the girls and Shippou walked away Miroku lingered in back with Inuyasha.
"How did you really get rid of Kouga last night?"
"It was like I said he was surprisingly submissive."
"Hn."
"Forget that its good to have you back, though it would have been better to have had you last night."
"You never quit." Inuyasha said through a small laugh but getting closer to his monk he couldn't help but notice the smell of wolf to be annoyingly strong for them to have just been talking. He said nothing though only answered the questions Miroku asked about how Kagome's family took his human form.
'Something's not right here.' He thought and Kagome's words of something going wrong kept playing in his head. He glanced at Miroku who looked as innocent as someone trying not to be guilty. 'He wouldn't have, would he?'
