Chapter 2: Lets Try This

"Kagome! Your awake!" Shippou leaped in his adoptive mothers embrace. "Yeah, and I am glad to be as well," she laughed.

 

 

Kagome smiled at Shippou, as he took a more comfortable position on her right shoulder. She noticed InuYasha's eyes were darting around frantically. "You okay?" a very worried Kagome asked. "Yeah..your a Hanyou now, you have to watch out. I guess I'm being alittle paranoid." Kagome just nodded and kept walking. 'I bet he is remembering how he was treated..'.

 

"Hey Kagome-sama, good to see your awake." Miroku walked away from one of village men he was talking to and walked towards her. "You are most beautiful.." Miroku backed up, startled from the low growl from InuYasha. "My apologizes InuYasha, it is expected you would be more protective of Kagome-sama, after all, she is a Hanyou like yourself. Nonetheless, Kagome-sama you are just as beautiful as before." Miroku smiled to Kagome.

 

"Thank you Miroku. Now stop being a pervert, so we talk about this." Kagome started to look around her, she didn't see Sango. "Where's Sango-chan?" She rolled her eyes when she heard InuYasha mumble to himself. "Dumb ass."

 

"She's with Kaede-sama. She needed help gathering herbs, and you were asleep so Sango said that she would take your place." Miroku explained. "How do you like your new appearance?"

 

"I love it, I really do like being an Inu-Hanyou." Kagome smiled big, and laughed. InuYasha let out a rush of air he had been holding, unsure of her answer. Kagome's ears twitched in InuYasha's direction, she heard his heavy sigh and turned to meet his gaze. "No lies, I really do like this, it couldn't be better," she smiled to him.

 

"Well, I better go see how my lovely Sango is doing." Miroku grinned and turned to walk away.

 

"I better keep him out of trouble.." Shippou sighed and rolled his eyes and jumped off of Kagome's shoulder and ran after Miroku. He didn't know why every one was acting like that. He loved Kagome either way, she was still Kagome, no matter how she looked. The little Kitsune had just about more brains than them all. He looked about the age of six or seven, and acted more mature than them all...not counting the way he was around pocky and InuYasha.

 

"Come on wench,"

 

"Where we going?"

 

"You ask too many questions wench." InuYasha growled and walked away from her.

 

Kagome rolled her eyes and walked after him. "Wait up!"

"This is nice," Kagome sat in the branches of the Goshinboko, leaning against InuYasha's chest. "Your not going to drop me are you?" She laughed.

 

"Feh, your lucky your here." He put an arm around her waist. "Stupid wench thinks I'm gonna drop her." He mumbled.

 

"Is that so?"

 

"Yep."

 

"As I recall it, you are the one who asked me to come up here with you,"

 

"So?"

 

"Oh well, I kinda like being in this tree."

 

"I do too."

 

"You know you can loosen your grip on me..I'm not going to fall."

 

"You were just now, saying you were worried that I would drop you! Make up your mind wench!"

 

"It was a joke! Now loosen up so I can breath again!" she laughed.

 

"Your mean.."

 

"How!?"

 

"It was a joke!"

 

Kagome turned around and looked him with wide eyes, jaw dropped, as she stared at him. He got her back with her own joke! She started laughed and rolled her eyes. "Your impossible!" She turned back around in his embrace and sighed. She had always dreamed of being in this tree with InuYasha, now here she was, in his embrace no less. She sighed and smiled. All of her dreams had come true: She was strong. She was happy. She was in InuYasha's arms. She almost thought he'd never like her. Maybe she was wrong. 'This is heaven.' she thought.

 

He looked down at the young woman in his arms. It was too good to be true, right? He sighed and pulled her closer. He smiled when he felt her snuggle back into his chest. If things were actually normal, he wouldn't be caught dead in this position with Kagome. Not that he didn't like her as a human! He always thought that she wouldn't want him as a Hanyou, and even if she did, she would be ridiculed, and called a 'demon whore' just like his mother. He didn't want that for her, even if he would, in the end, spend the rest of his life alone. He wouldn't put her in that kind of danger.

 

And her scent....it was just so irresistible now that she was a Hanyou. Her scent was still heavenly as a human no doubt, but now it took every thing he had not to just take her right then. He rested his chin on her left shoulder and closed his eyes. 'This is heaven,' he thought.

*SLAP*

 

"Why do you always do that?!" Sango stood up and glared at the Monk. She just got back from helping Kaede, and the first thing he does when she sits down is move over to her and play grab ass!

 

Miroku rubbed the bright red hand print on his left cheek and sighed. "My dear Sango," that earned him another death glare from Sango, so he hurried his thought. "Because you are so beautiful, and I can't help but to enjoy your timeless beauty. It would be considered a crime, if I did not." He grinned at Sango.

 

Sango blushed a deep red and smiled to herself. "You...you think?" 'Whoa! What am I saying?! He's a pervert, snap out of it!'

 

"Of course my dear Sango. Have you not noticed that I have only acted on your beauty alone?" It was the truth. Miroku had not groped, touched, asked to bear his child, to anyone but Sango. He put on one of his innocent faces and looked Sango in the eyes.

 

Sango was flattered. He had never put it in such a way. He always said something perverted, and he was right. She hadn't see him make a move on anyone but her. She sighed and sat next to him again, and grabbed his hand and held it in her own. Just in case he lost control of his hand and ruin the moment, she would have his hand and he couldn't touch her with it. She grinned inwardly. "Thank you Houshi-sama. Don't get the wrong idea or anything but, I appreciate that you don't hit on other women around me." 'Did I just say that?! Oh Kami I did!!' She panicked, what if he did get the wrong idea, maybe he would think it was an invitation.

 

"Your welcome Sango. I swear it on the Buddha, that you are the only one for me." When he felt her grip relax, he pulled his hand away and put his arm around her and pulled her close. Sango snuggled closer, 'This feels right.'

"Kagome-chan!" Sango ran across the grassy field that separated the village from the Goshinboko, with Kirara running after her. She ran over to Kagome, who was walking beside InuYasha. "You look so cute!" Sango poked one of her black doggie ears and giggled when it twitched. Kagome laughed and twitched both her ears, and Sango bursts out in 'aww' and laugher. Miroku caught up to her and panted...man Sango could run fast.

 

InuYasha and Kagome were on their way back to the village to see if Sango was done helping Kaede. Kagome wasn't surprised that Sango found her first. The older girl was like her sister. She hugged Sango and smiled to her.

 

"No one ever reacted like that to me..." Kagome heard InuYasha whisper. She barely heard him, she knew no one else did. Only one that could have heard him was Kirara..and who would she tell? She would have to ask him later about it. "Thanks Sango-chan. Where's Shippou-chan?"

 

"Oh, he's with Kaede-sama. We told him that you might want to talk to us alone." Miroku answered for Sango. "Oh..okay." Kagome nodded.

 

"So, InuYasha told us what happened. Do you like being an Inu-Hanyou?" Sango asked.

 

Kagome didn't leave a second to waste to answer that, she knew InuYasha was still alittle weary of it all. "Totally! I love it! I love my ears! I'm stronger, faster, and I can hear a lot better, and I can pick up a lot of new scents. It's all so cool! Not even my wildest dreams could have prepared me for this!" Kagome squealed. 'You might have over did that one, girl.' She mentally smacked herself up side the head.

 

"I'm glad you like it!" Sango laughed, and Kagome nodded her head. Sango directed her attention to InuYasha. "Your not the only one, InuYasha." She smirked and InuYasha did his famous reply of 'keh'.

 

"Oh!" Kagome gasped. Kagome grinned and looked at InuYasha.

 

"What?" Everyone said in unison, except InuYasha who just raised an eyebrow.

 

"I wonder..." Kagome walked over to InuYasha. "Can I try something with Tetsusaiga? I promise I won't hurt it." Kagome gave him the puppy eyes look. 'Hehehe, try to resist that!..'

 

InuYasha growled. "Fine.."

 

'Yes! Nice one Kagome. 'One for me, and Zero for InuYasha!' She mentally laughed.

 

He removed Tetsusaiga from his hip, sheath and all. "Don't hurt yourself."

 

She was about to say something about his last comment, when she realized that he really meant it. He wasn't making fun of her..he was worried. 'Wow, that's weird...what's gotten into him?'

 

"I won't." She carefully took Tetsusaiga from him and pulled it from it's sheath. She set the sheath on the grass and stepped away from it. She exhaled heavily and closed her eyes and concentrated on it transforming into the fang she always saw.

 

She felt an energy shoot through her like she had just been shocked. She opened her eyes and saw the fully transformed Tetsusaiga, and wide eyes from her friends. "I did it!" She looked at InuYasha, she hoped he would be proud of her. "It isn't heavy..Why?"

 

"It might be because, InuYasha is always protecting you, so therefore maybe the Tetsusaiga recognizees you." Miroku offered. "Yeah..that makes sense" Sango added, and she nodded her head.

 

"Feh!" InuYasha put his hands in his sleeves and crossed his arms. He nodded to Kagome when no one was looking at him.

 

Kagome caught his gestures and concentrated again. She looked at the blade of the sword, and thought about what InuYasha had said about the Wind Scar. She sniffed the air and looked at the blade. She caught the scent of the energy, and saw the Wind Scar. By this time InuYasha was grinning ear to ear, he knew what she was doing. "Kaze no Kizu!!!" Kagome screamed and thrust the Tetsusaiga as hard as she could infront of her. The wave of energy came from the sword and made huge indents in the grassy field. It wasn't as powerful as when InuYasha did it, but he was the rightful owner of Tetsusaiga.

 

She looked at everyone as they started clapping, as InuYasha smiled to her. "You did it!" Sango squealed. "We should get you to Totosai-sensei and ask him to make you a sword too!"

 

Kagome grinned looked at InuYasha with her puppy dog eyes again. InuYasha's posture relaxed and he sighed. Kagome's face lit up as she sheathed Tetsusaiga and walked over to InuYasha and hugged him with her right arm, while the sword was in the other hand. "Thank you!" She handed him the sword and smiled. "Did I do it right?"

 

InuYasha blushed. He mentally kicked himself and gathered his mind and placed Tetsusaiga back to his hip. "Yeah..now I want you to work with your claws as well." InuYasha instructed.

 

Kagome nodded and moved away from everyone and turned her back to them.

"Sankentetsuo!" She screamed as she jumped into the air, and raked down her claws in the air as yellow light blades flew from her claws. She landed on her right knee and laughed. "I did that too!! I'm not a weak human anymore am I?" She laughed as she stood up. 'Yeah after watching InuYasha for over two years doing this, I better be good that this!'

 

"You never were weak Kagome-sama." Miroku complimented. "Now, lets try with your Sacred Arrows...I have to say, after watching you do all those attacks, I am alittle worried that you do not have your powers."

 

"I don't have my arrows with me," Kagome's ears laid back. She started to chew on the inside of her lower lip, mindful of her fangs. She smiled when she got an idea. "but I can flare my aura if you like."

 

Miroku nodded.

 

"Okay," Kagome concentrated as a pink aura flared around her. It was slightly darker than it was before, it was to be expected..she was a Hanyou now.

 

"Kagome-sama! That is amazing! I am sorry to say that I doubted that you still had your powers! If it's impossible, you make it possible!" Miroku laughed out. Sango nodded and clapped.

 

"But what about the Sacred Jewel?" Miroku reached into his robes and pulled out a bottle that was attached to a chain. The bottle contained the Jewel Shards that Kagome had before she passed out. It had a seal around the bottle, Miroku held it out to her. "Kagome-sama, this might hurt..but I want to see if you can destroy this seal."

 

Kagome nodded and stepped forward. She reached out her hand and placed the tip of her index finger on the seal and it burnt away and turned to dust. "I guess it all evened out.." She smiled and took the bottle and put the chain over her head and around her neck.

 

She tucked the bottle in her shirt, out of plain sight. She smiled and walked to InuYasha and hugged him. He blushed and was going to say something but Kagome got there first. "Thank you InuYasha, I have you to thank for this. Now lets go see Totosai-sensei." She smiled and started to walk towards Kaede's hut to retrieve Shippou, with the others following behind her. 'I can really get used to this!'
