Chapter 1

The Man in Chains

Kagome and Ayame quickly run through the city streets, the sounds of screaming and explosions in the background that followed them.

 

“Do you even know where he is kagome?” Ayame said taking deep breaths of air from the running.

 

“Course I do, I mean its too big not to notice the big steel house you know” Kagome said as she could see the steel house coming into view.

 

Ayame was still new to this place, for the demons of the feudal era didn't emerge from kagome's well until six weeks ago after naraku's death. These words were new to Ayame, so she tried to understand them the best she could, especially hearing about a steel house…what kind of house would be made of that she thought.

 

The house was finally in distance for both as they began in a sprint to the house. As they approached the house they could see two guards at the entrance of the house, one a demon, the other a human, both holding two large swords behind their back, and what looked like heavy armor, but this was only worn on the human, the demon would have no use for it. The two girls reached the two guards, kagome approaching one of the guards first with an innocent but determined face.

 

“Hello I'm-“

 

The guard had cut her off before she could even finish what she was going to say and walked up to her so she had to raise her head up just to talk to him.

 

“What's your name and your business?” he said strictly as the demon guard stayed motionless by the door.

 

“I'm Kagome Higurashi, and my business is my own thank you very much” she said plainly hoping the guards would open willingly before things got out of hand.

 

“Sorry Ms. Higurashi but you may not enter without a valid reason” the guard said stepping back, standing next to the demon guard, their swords swung down into an X like shape in font of the door, making it clear there wasn't any other way for the two females.

 

“Fine have it your way” she said turning around and walking back, her black long hair swishing in the wind as she walked away. “Okay Ayame… you can have your fun now” she said with a victorious grin.

 

The guards stood still not moving what so ever, but their eyes were fixed on the girl wolf demon that stood in front of them looking determined and excited with herself. The guards moved slightly knowing what was coming, the demon guard shifting his eyes towards the door, hearing chains rattling behind it “hmph…he knows they're here” he said whispering standing closer to the door, now keeping his eye fixed on the wolf girl.

 

Ayame leaped into the air and wrapped her legs around his neck and twisted to the right snapping his neck. The human guard flipped and landed with a thud on his back dead. The demon guard thrusted his large sword at Ayame. She back-flipped twice barely missing the sword by inches. She planted her feet firmly on the ground and jumped on the sword kicking his face until he fell down to the floor. She took the sword and stabbed right through his heart ending his life.

 

“The road is clear.” She smiled as she skipped to Kagome with a big smile on her face revealing triumph.

 

“Thanks… but did you have to make it so messy…?” She asked with displeasure as she walked to the door avoiding the lifeless bodies that lay before her.

 

Kagome and Ayame approach the door with eagerness and haste. As Ayame took one of her leaves and threw it to the chained door, breaking the lock that laid hanging from a chain. The lock and chain fell to the ground with clinging sounds echoing as they slipped off the door. The door opened slowly without a creek, but swung fast as it opened to reveal a dark figure in the back, which looked like he was levitating but it was actually chains suspending the dark figure. They approached the figure with caution wondering if this was the exact person they came for. As they drew closer the figure came into light to reveal a man wearing a loose red like kimono, the kimono was ripped just about everywhere. The stench of blood surrounded them everywhere especially on the man. They weren't sure whether he was alive or dead till he lifted his head up slowly. The two

Amber eyes stared at them. His silver hair glow in the suns light. His amber like eyes were dull and lifeless, it was sad just looking into them.

 

“I-Inuyasha…?” Kagome said with a soft tone in her voice as she walked slowly to him, “ are you alright… we need your help” she said eyeing him up and down, looking at this ripped clothing and bloody skin. Her gaze wandered to his eyes, seeing him as if he was in a trance, or like some lost lonely boy that had lost everything. She waved her hand in front of him to get an acknowledge.
