Chapter 5:

A Night To Remember

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Have you decided on the songs you'll be singing?” Naraku questioned.

 

“Not yet,” Kagome replied from inside the recording booth.

 

Kagura shook her head as Kagome yawned. It was another long night for Kagome. This was her fifth time at the Recording Studio that week and it was only Wednesday. Naraku shook his head and started the track for her next song. Kagome sat up and scooted closer to the microphone.

 

“First time that I saw you eyes,

boy you looked right through me, mm hmm.

Play it cool, `cuz I knew you knew

that cupid hit me, uh huh,” she sang.

“I can't believe it's finally Friday!” Ayame smiled.

 

“I can't wait `til the dance tonight!” Rin cheered. Kagome yawned.

 

“You okay, Kags?” Sango asked.

 

“Just tired,” Kagome replied, “I'm so takin' a nap as soon as I get home.”

 

Kagome laid her head on the lunch table. Rin and Kanna gave each other a look and smiled. Together they inhaled and…

 

“Don't even think about it,” Kagome mumbled. Rin and Kanna blew air out of their mouths. Kagome pushed the stack of scripts toward Sango. “Pass these out please.”

 

Sango grinned and grabbed the stack. She flipped through the stack and found hers, Rin's, Ayame's, and Kanna's. She handed them to each girl and stood up. Sango looked around the cafeteria for the boys. Upon spotting them, Sango walked over to their table. She handed each of them their script, as well as handing Inuyasha Sesshomaru's. Inuyasha glanced down at his script and pushed it back toward Sango.

 

“I ain't doin' this,” he said.

 

“Yes, you are,” Sango replied.

 

“No, I'm not,” Inuyasha repeated.

 

“You damn well are,” Sango said, slamming the scripts on the table.

 

“Fine,” Inuyasha growled. She smiled.

 

“See you at the dance,” Sango waved as she walked away.

 

“I ain't goin to that damn dance!” Inuyasha yelled at her retreating back.

 

“Yeah, right,” Sango said.

 

“You are so goin',” Miroku grinned.

 

“Whatever,” Inuyasha muttered.

 

Sango sat down with a content smile. She started to hear a faint noise and she looked around. She gave a confused look and turned her gaze to Rin. Rin pointed down at Kagome, who was sound asleep. Sango smiled and shook her head.

Kagome walked into her room with a towel wrapped around her body and hair. She pulled her dress out her closet and laid it across her bed. She walked back into her bathroom to fix her hair. She put jumbo rollers into her hair and went back into her room wearing a black strapless bra and black panties. There was a knock on her door.

 

“Come in,” Kagome called, picking up her dress.

 

The door opened and in walked Sango. Dressed as expected, her long brown hair fell down to her waist in spiral curls. Her make up was professionally done with thick eyeliner and a light shade of purple eye shadow. She smiled.

 

“Wow,” Kagome said,

 

“I know, right,” Sango grinned. “Now let's get you fixed up.”

 

Sango took the dress from Kagome, laid it back on the bed, and pushed her back into the bathroom. She sat Kagome down on the toilet and got to work on her make up. She applied a thin line of eyeliner, sparkly green eye shadow, and mascara. Closing the mascara, Sango grinned.

 

“Can I open my eyes now,” Kagome asked.

 

“Sure,” Sango replied as she took the rollers out of Kagome's hair.

 

Sango picked up a comb and lightly combed through the curls. She fluffed Kagome's hair and smiled. Sango pulled Kagome off the toilet and pushed her towards her room.

 

“Go get dressed,” she instructed.

 

“But I wanna-” Kagome started.

 

“Get dressed first,” Sango said, cutting her off. “We've got people waitin'.”

 

“Oh, Kami,” Kagome muttered to herself.

 

She pulled her dress on and wondered who else could possibly be in her house. Kagome sat down on her bed and put on her silver heels. She looked up at Sango.

 

“Can I look now?” Kagome questioned.

 

“Sure,” Sango grinned.

 

Kagome walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. She gasped. Kagome's hair fell down her back in a mixture of waves and curls. Her eyes were gorgeously done and rimmed with long, thick lashes. On her lips was frosty pink lip gloss. She smiled.

 

“I love it,” she said.

 

“Good,” Sango smiled. “Now c'mon.”

 

Sango opened the door and pushed Kagome out. They stopped at the top of the stairs and Kagome could hear the many familiar voices of her friends. Sango put her hands up in front of Kagome.

 

“Wait here,” Sango said.

 

Kagome nodded. Sango grinned and headed down the stairs. The talking ceased when Sango went down.

 

“Presenting my latest creation,” Sango began, “Kagome Higurashi!”

 

Kagome rolled her eyes and walked to the edge of the step. She smiled when everyone gasped. She walked down the stairs shaking her head at Rin who looked like she was going to cry. Her eyes fell on Inuyasha and she stopped for a second. He was staring up at her in slight awe. Dammit, she looks amazing! he thought. Continuing her descent, she smiled at her mother. Hitting the last step, Kagome went to hug Sango.

 

“Thanks,” she whispered.

 

“No problem,” Sango replied.

 

“Oh my Kami,” Rin gasped. “Kagome, you look AMAZING!”

 

“So do you,” Kagome smiled. “All of you do.”

 

The girls smiled. Rin's hair was up in pin curls with a few ringlets around her face. Her make up consisted of a light shade of orange eye shadow, a thin line of black eyeliner, and mascara. Ayame shook her head. Her hair was pulled up into an elegant bun with a light blue flower pinned in it. Her make up consisted of light blue eye shadow and thick eyeliner. Dressed in her polka dot dress, Kanna was the most adorable looking. Her white hair was in spiral curls and half was pin up on top her head while the rest hung down her back.

 

“Thanks,” the girls said.

“The limo's here,” Ms. Higurashi said.

 

“I can't believe we're ridin' in Kagome's own personal limo,” Rin shrieked, walking outside. Kagome grinned as everyone headed outside.

 

“You look gorgeous, honey,” Ms. Higurashi said, hugging her daughter.

 

“Thanks, Mom,” Kagome said. “Bye.”

The limo pulled up to the school and the nine teens filed out. Rin giddily jumped around. Everyone watched her.

 

“This is gonna be so fun!” she shrieked.

 

They walked into the school and down to the gym. Everyone looked around. The gym was beautifully decorated with balloons and streamers and it fit the theme, `A Night To Remember', perfectly. The nine teens walked over to a table. Principal Mana walked over to the table and grabbed Kagome's arm.

 

“I'm stealing her for a moment,” she said.

 

“Who cares,” Inuyasha said, crossing his arms and taking a seat.

 

“We're ready for you,” Principal Mana said, leading Kagome to the stage.

 

“Is all my music here?” Kagome questioned.

 

“Yes ma'am, it is,” Principal Mana replied.

 

“Alright, thank you,” Kagome smiled, walking on stage.

 

“Yo!” Hakudoshi called, running up beside her

 

“Hey,” Kagome smiled. She grabbed a mike and handed one to Hakudoshi. A stage light came on and everyone looked up at her.

 

“Hey everybody, how's it goin'?” Kagome said. Everyone answered back at once. “I've got a couple new songs for ya' and some of the originals, is that cool?”

 

Everyone cheered. Kagome nodded and the music began.

 

(Hakudoshi):

The room erupted into applause and Kagome grinned. Inuyasha stared up at Kagome. Damn, she looks good up there. he thought. Hakudoshi hugged Kagome and he walked off the stage. Kagome nodded towards the DJ to start the next song. The music started and Kagome smiled.

Kagome smiled as she walked down the stage. She walked through the crowds, making her way over to her friends.

Kagome smiled as she danced through the instrumental. She launched back into the chorus and continued dancing. She seemed to be enjoying herself up on stage and she looked pretty damn hot.

The music stopped and the room erupted into applause. Kagome smiled and gave an airy laugh. This was by far the most fun she has had performing.

 

“Alright, here's an original!” she nodded toward the DJ.

 

The music started and Sango pulled Miroku onto the dance floor. Kagome grinned when Ayame pulled Kouga on the dance floor. Kagome spoke the intro to her song `I'm A Slave For You' and was shocked to see that Rin had got Sesshomaru on the floor. The only person sitting now was Inuyasha. Kagome grinned and traded her microphone for a headset, singing all the while. She walked off the stage, singing the chorus. She grinned as she made her way over to Inuyasha.

 

“I know I may come off wild may come off shy.

But I feel like talkin', feel like dancin' then I see this guy.

What's practical is logical, what the hell? Who cares?

All I know is I'm so happy, when you're dancin' there,” Kagome sang.

 

Kagome grabbed Inuyasha's hands and pulled him to stand with her. He stared at her as she sang. She turned and backed up on him, and grinded on him. Inuyasha's eyes widened a fraction. Soon enough, he got into it. He grabbed onto her waist and pulled her closer. Sango looked towards Kagome and grinned. She nudged Miroku and nodded towards the two. Miroku glanced over and smirked.

 

“Nice,” he said.

 

Half the boys in the gym gave Inuyasha a look of envy. But Inuyasha didn't seem to mind, seeing as he was busy at the moment. Kagome quickened the rotation of her hips a bit.

 

“Baby, don't you wanna dance up on me,” Kagome sang, “to another time and place.”

 

Kagome grinned as she continued to dance on Inuyasha. She leaned back on him as she sang the chorus, still dancing. Kanna looked over at the two from dancing with Hakudoshi and grinned.

 

“Get it, get it get it, get it, uh!” Kagome sang. “Get it, get it, get it, get it, whoa!”

 

A few teens had stopped dancing and watched Kagome and Inuyasha. Inuyasha tightened his grip on Kagome's waist.

 

“I really wanna dance tonight with you,” she continued, “I really wanna do what you want me to.”

 

“Dammit, Kagome,” Inuyasha groaned.

 

Kagome sang the chorus as she continued to grind on Inuyasha. She turned and danced in front of him. By now everyone had stopped dancing and was watching them. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome and pulled her to him. They were so close that their noses were touching.

 

“You like that,” Kagome breathed, ending the song.

 

Inuyasha and Kagome stared at each other. Kagome glanced down at his lips, then back up to his golden gaze. The two moved in closer and…the room erupted into applause, making them jump apart. Inuyasha ran a hand through his hair and walked away. Kagome took a step forward.

 

“Inuyasha,” she whispered.

 

Kagome smiled at everyone and hurried out after Inuyasha, placing her headset on a nearby table. Her friends looked at each other, then back towards the door that she and Inuyasha just went through. Kagome walked down the halls and looked around. She sighed and turned a corner.

 

“Yash,” she called. “Inuyasha!”

 

All of a sudden, Kagome was grabbed by her shoulders and slammed against the lockers. She gasped and looked up to see Inuyasha. Kagome stared at him breathing heavily. Inuyasha stared down at her.

 

“Dammit, Kagome,” he growled.

 

“Huh?” Kagome breathed.

 

“Why?” he demanded.

 

“Why wh-”

 

Inuyasha's lips crashed down onto Kagome's. Her eyes widened, then they fluttered closed. Inuyasha nipped her bottom lip and she opened up for him. Kagome clenched his shirt in one hand and reached up to rub his ear with the other. When their tongues tapped against each other, Kagome sighed into his mouth. The two pulled back from each other with their faces inches apart, staring at each other. Inuyasha attacked Kagome's neck with nips and kisses.

 

“Kagome,” Inuyasha groaned.

 

“Hmm?” Kagome moaned her eyes closed.

 

“I shouldn't be doin' this,” he said, nipping at the nape of her neck.

 

“No, it's fine,” Kagome breathed.

 

Inuyasha pulled back and looked at her. Kagome's face was flushed, her lips swollen and slightly parted, and she was breathing heavily. Inuyasha shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. He took a step back and shook his sighed. Kagome looked up at him.

 

“What?” Kagome questioned.

 

“Nothing,” he said. “I gotta go.”

 

“But-”

 

Inuyasha turned, walked down the hall, and out the door. Kagome sighed and touched her lips. Inuyasha. she thought. Taking a deep breath, she turned and went back into the gym. Now she doesn't want anyone coming after her. Kanna stepped out from behind a row of lockers with Hakudoshi.

 

“I told you they like each other,” Kanna said.

 

“Okay, so you were right,” Hakudoshi replied. “So, what are you gonna do?”

 

“Play matchmaker,” Kanna said rubbing her hands together. She grabbed Hakudoshi's hand. “C'mon, I've got an idea.”
