[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Inuyasha carried Miroku on his back. It was the easiest way to carry
someone, and the fastest. By the time they got there, Kikyo was waiting.
As soon as they arrived, Miroku started to chant.
" Inuyasha........." Kikyo said.
" Kikyo, I'm sorry you had to go through all this." Inuyasha said
sadly.
" What are you saying?"
" I've brought one of my friends. He'll put you to rest."
" No, my soul will not rest until you are dead! I have already told you
this."
Inuyasha just stared at her. This was the woman he had loved? Had, he
thought, is a very accurate description. She was never the same person
since she was forced into the sham body. I can see that now.
" Goodbye Kikyo. Rest in peace." Inuyasha said, his final statement to
the woman who had claimed to love him, who he had loved long ago.
" No!" Kikyo screamed, fury on her face.
" I won't rest until I see you dead!"
Miroku continued chanting, and finally stopped. At that moment, a glow
seemed to come form Kikyo. Thousands of souls were being released. One
lingered, and a reflection of Kikyo's face seemed to come from
somewhere deep inside.
" Thank you Inuyasha. My soul is free." The reflection said. " I can go
home."
" Goodbye Kikyo."
Kikyo's soul seemed to laugh. The laugh sounded just like Inuyasha
imagined Kikyo's would be. It was a soft sound, almost tenative, and it
grew stronger as the soul ascended to Heaven. Even though it was a small
piece of Kagome's soul, Kikyo had it for so long that it was no longer
welcome in Kagome. The hole the soul had made when leaving Kagome had
patched up, and the soul would be rejoined in the next incarnation.
" Goodbye Kikyo." Inuyasha said for the last time, knowing she was
finally at peace.
" Inuyasha, we must go."
" Alright Miroku. Make sure no one bothers me. I want to sleep!"
Inuyasha said. Miroku just nodded. Inuyasha picked up Miroku and sped back to
camp.

When they got back, everyone was unusually quiet. It wasn't as if they
weren't talking, sharing a comfortabe silence between friends. It was
the near-quietness of subdued chatter, as if someone had died.
" What happened?" Inuyasha asked concerned.
One by one, everyone turned to look at him. Kagome had obviously been
crying, and everyone else had been trying to console her. Everyone
loooked shocked that he was there.
" What?" Inuyasha asked, unnerved by their stares. " What's wrong?"
