[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Inuyasha and the others left to find Sesshomaru. Mushin was left with
the villagers.

After a few hours travel, both on Kirara and on Inuyasha, or a feather
for two people, they found Mushins hut.
" Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha called out. "Why did you come here?"
" Is it any of your business, half-breed?" Sesshomaru's voice was right
behind him.
" Yes. Miroku's father used to live here!"
" Well, if you must know, Rin had fallen ill. I enlisted the help of
some bandits to locate a monk who could help her. the monk was scared
off, so I took over his place of residence. Now leave me."
" Wait! Sesshomaru, don't you have that sword that can heal?" Kohaku
had piped up from his spot on Kiraras back.
" Who are you? You're that boy Kohaku, aren't you? You almost killed
Rin, and for that alone you should die."
Sesshomaru turned away from Kohaku and muttered " But not today."
" He's right m'lord Sesshomaru. You do have the Tensagia. Why not heal
her with that?" Jaken, the warty little demon that served Sesshomaru,
had snuck up while Kohaku was speaking.
" The Tensaiga picks the time and place and the people I heal. I never
do." Sesshomaru said, an icy vein entering his voice.
" I could try to heal her." Kagome said doubtfully. " It might work."
" Then try. If you kill her........ your days will be cut short."
Sesshomaru said, the threat unmistakable in his voice.

Kagome entered the hut. Rin was on a pallet in the corner. First,
Kagome took her tempeture. It was about 2 degrees higher then normal.
I have to break the fever first. Kagome realized. She started to do so
by applying cold water soaked rags to Rin's forhead. After a few
minutes, the fever broke. Kagome asked Rin if she was okay, and Rin, having
just gotten up, said that her throat hurt and that her nose was stuffy.
Kagome just laughed and gave her some cold medicine.
" This should help." she told Rin. " It'll taste bad, but it will
help."

That afternoon, Rin was well enough to go outside for a little while.
She enjoyed every moment of it. Kagome gave Sesshomaru some more of the
medicine, and told him to give it to Rin in a few hours. He simply
snorted but pocketed the medicine anyways.

Inuyasha and Co. were on the road again, 1 day after they had arrived
at Mushins hut. Kagura swooped by them on her feather.
" We're close." She said. " Naraku's castle used to be just about here.
A few more hours walking should do it, but I suggest resting before we
walk on in there. Who know's what Naraku has in there!" Surprisingly,
Inuyasha agreed, and they rested for the remainder of the day.

They woke up at dawn the next day, and they were only a few miles from
the castle. The hours spent walking there were surprisingly silent.
Everyone knew what this would mean. The end of their quest. They could get
whatever they wished for, but what had seemed so clear at the beginning
of the journey was now muddled. Inuyasha no longer wanted to become
full demon, or a human. He liked it just the way he was. Kagome never had
a wish, Shippo was delighted with his new parents, Koga and Kagura
would have a clan of their own soon, Sango had Kohaku back, and Miroku had
Sango. Kirara couldn't make a wish, and Myoga would just wish to be
protected forever, which he was if he stayed by Inuyasha. No one had a
reason to want the Jewel anymore, so why did they still keep looking for
it?
Because we can't let others get it, Inuyasha realized. It's our
responsibility.
" We've arrived." Kagura said, stopping before a huge castle. " he's
hidden them somewhere inside."
