Sango's Secret and Miroku's Comfort

*************************************************************** **********************

Kagome sat happily by Sesshomaru's side on the sofa. She watched as he finished up his third cup of coffee that morning. She stared at him in wonder. 'How does he remain so calm with all that caffeine inside of his system? She then blushed remembering how not calm he was that morning!

"Sango should be coming any minute!" She said, glancing at the grandfather clock against the wall. He just rolled his eyes, as if to say, 'I'd rather die!' Kagome sighed. She felt at times that they were so close, and so in love. But then, sometimes, she felt like she just annoyed him.

Sesshomaru had such a headache, and the fact that his immature neighbor would be hanging around his home all day didn't help. He couldn't tell Kagome no, though. She had such a sweet innocence to her. Such an angelic face…

The doorbell rang, causing Sesshomaru to groan somewhat. He decided that while Kagome was shirking her duties for him, and inviting friends to his house, he would invite Miroku over. He didn't mind the company of the annoyingly perverted guy sometimes, so he left the room to go call his friend.

Kagome happily let the door swing open, and she wrapped her arms around her newest friend. "Sango!" She gasped. "Come on in!" Sango happily walked in, and seated herself on the fine couch. Kagome joined her on the couch only seconds after.

They immediately began chatting about how their summers have been, and what they planned when school started back up. Soon Sesshomaru walked in the room, paying no attention to the girl who greeted him. "Good morning, Sesshomaru!" She said, happily. He just nodded. Not even looking her way.

He grabbed his cup of coffee, and a newspaper, and left the room giving Kagome a quick sly grin. She didn't know why he loved to tease her like that. Every once in a while he would give Kagome 'a look'. These little 'looks' made her go crazy! She was staring in a daze as he left the room, but her dirty thoughts were interrupted by Sango.

"Kagome?" Sango laughed, waving a hand in front of Kagome's face. Kagome snapped out of her trance, and turned to Sango. "So…did you mean it?" Sango whispered, "Did you two actually have…" Sango looked around to make sure nobody was listening. "…sex?" She added even quieter.

Kagome giggled, and nodded, blushing slightly. "Well, twice so far…" Kagome answered. "I'm his mate." The girls were talking just above a whisper, trying not to let Sesshomaru hear.

Sesshomaru thought the girls were being incredibly stupid. Was it not obvious that he could hear their every word? He was an Inu Yukai! His senses were ten times better than humans. He listened, rather amused to their conversation, and giggling fits.

Soon the doorbell rang, once again. And Sesshomaru watched as Kagome walked to the door confused. He realized that it must have been Miroku, and he decided to go greet Miroku before he could make a move on his Kagome.

Kagome let the door open a crack, as she peeked out. It was that Miroku guy. She opened it fully, and smiled at him, brightly. "Hello, Miroku!" She said sweetly, as Sango shifted uncomfortably on the sofa. "I suppose you're here for Lord Sesshomaru's training?" She felt Sesshomaru's hand gently rest on her shoulder.

"He's here to visit, Kagome." Sesshomaru said, in that teasing voice. Kagome backed out of Miroku's way inviting him in. She went to join Sango back on the sofa, and smiled when she saw Sango's face beat red. It turned ten more shades when he walked in and smiled brightly at her. "Ah, if it isn't the mystery girl from before." He said, charmingly.

She just looked away, and didn't say anything. Kagome and Sango continued to talk, while Sesshomaru and Miroku sat at the coffee table with two coffees.

Kagome was fine, talking to Sango. She acted as if Sesshomaru, and Miroku weren't even there, on the other side of the table. However, she couldn't help but notice the strange glances between Miroku and Sango. Kagome realized there must be a little crush between them.

"So, Miroku!" Kagome said, cheerily, "Do you have a girlfriend?" Sesshomaru glared daggers at Kagome, but she just ignored him. Miroku looked at the two girls, and said, "Not that I know of!" Kagome laughed. "Yeah, Sango doesn't have a boyfriend, either!" She said, casually, "Isn't that a shame?"

Sango thought she would slaughter Kagome as Miroku's eyes fixed on her. She looked down at her shoes, and felt her face glow red. 'Kagome, I'm going to get you!'

"Oh, really?" was Miroku's only answer. Sesshomaru finally understood why Kagome had asked Miroku the question, and now just looked bored at the situation. "How about you, Kagome?" Sango came out, happy to get Kagome back.

Kagome looked up, "Huh? What?" Kagome asked, fearfully. "Do you have a boyfriend?" Sango grinned up, evilly at the stuttering Kagome. "I-I-" Kagome looked in Sesshomaru's direction who seemed to be waiting for an answer as well.

Kagome looked from Sango, to Miroku, to Sesshomaru. 'Sesshomaru!' Her mind screamed out. Would he be angry if she said his name? She opened her mouth, hesitantly, "That's my business…" She squeaked, at a laughing Sango.

She looked up at Sesshomaru who seemed to be satisfied with her answer. She relaxed, and sunk into the couch when everybody took their eyes off of her. 'How could Sango do that?' She asked. Kagome was actually really angry, but she looked up at Sango and couldn't help but laugh, too. Soon they forgot about being mad at each other.

Suddenly, Sesshomaru, and Miroku got up from the couch, and went up the stairs. Kagome let out a sigh of relief, glad to be rid of the two. "Sango, I'm sorry that perv is here!" Kagome burst. "You should go home. It seems awkward." "No!" Sango cried. Kagome stared at Sango in shock, and Sango looked down at her lap. "I'm sorry…" She said softly.

Finally it hit her. I've been going through a lot at home… Sango had said that this morning on the phone! Kagome looked up at her slightly embarrassed friend. "Sango…" Kagome said, comfortingly, placing a hand on Sango's shoulder. "Why did you want to come here so bad?" Kagome's voice became soft, and sweet.

Sango smiled up at her concerned friend. 'Well, she did tell me about her sex life…' Sango figured. Sango looked up at Kagome, and a single tear strolled down her cheek. "My father." Sango said, softly. Kagome wondered what was wrong with her father. "What about him, Sang? You can talk to me." Kagome said, still in a comforting tone.

Sango hesitated. "…H-He likes to-" She didn't say anymore, but lifted her shirt so Kagome could see her stomach. Kagome gasped to see a giant burn mark across Sango's flesh. "He likes fire!" Sango blurted out. Tears began to fall freely down her face. "I-If I do something wrong…he-he has this powder stuff… and then he takes this match, and he-" Sango just fell into Kagome's arms crying.

"He's a pyromaniac?" A shocked voice from the bottom of the stairs questioned. Kagome gasped to see Miroku there, but Sango didn't seem to notice. She was still crying uncontrollably. Miroku had a look of horror on his face, identical to Kagome's. "There, there, Sango…" was all Kagome could say, as she hugged her unfortunate friend.

Before Kagome knew it, Sango was pulled from her arms and into Miroku's. He hugged Sango into his chest as she cried. "We have to get you away from him before he hurts you." Miroku said, his voice dripping in concern. He then pushed Sango slightly away to examine her fresh burn. "He did that this morning?" He asked.

She nodded, and choked out sobs. She then pulled the sleeves of her sweater back to reveal all different kinds of marks on her arms. "He did this one with a cigar, and that with a powder he has…" She explained, showing Kagome, and Miroku different marks on her arm.

Sango went on. Kagome could sense that it must've felt good to get all of this out. She didn't seem to mind Miroku stroking her hair, as she talked either. Kagome looked at the couple, in awe. 'How sweet!' She thought to herself, as he occasionally wiped her tears.

"One time…" Sango said, now more calmly, "A teacher saw the marks on my arm…in gym class, and he made me tell them…that I had the problem! That I did that to myself!" Miroku listened to her every word in horror. "What is your name?" He asked her.

Sango suddenly realized that her hands were in his tightly, and blushed. She looked up at him, shyly. "Sango." She said. "Sango…" He repeated just above a whisper, "I'm Miroku." with that he lifted her hand, and kissed it.

Kagome looked at the doorway to see a rather shocked looking Sesshomaru. She couldn't help but smile at the new couple. She knew that they were meant for each other. She just knew it!
