InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Opposite of Hate ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Not really much, just a small Idea I got in my head. (: Not a one-shot :P
Prologue
Two young children ran through the fields, holding hands and giggling uncontrollably. They stopped and fell back; with their hands still intertwined they stared up at the blue sky and pointed up at clouds.
The girl looked over at the boy, “Inuyasha?”
He looked over at her and smiled widely, “Yeah?”
“I like you.” She looked over at a dandelion, her face blushing red.
The boy sat up straight and let go of her hand. She looked up at him surprised by his reaction. He was backing up a little from her and her eyes were brimming with tears.
“What’s wrong?” She mumbled and her voice cracked a little.
He lifted himself off the ground and still stared at her horrified, remembering his Mother’s words as she cried the night before Falling in love is a tragedy is what they said! Falling in love with you is a catastrophe is what I say! She’d yelled at his Father. He wasn’t so sure he wanted to suffer the way his mother had.
He ran away then, leaving the poor girl to curl up in the grass and cry, clutching the dandelion she’d been looking at. She blew on it slowly and the small white fluffs flew away in the breeze, wishing she’d never had done that.
From then on, Inuyasha promised himself he’d never fall in love.

“How could you, Mother!?” The Princess’s voice echoed around her and her Mother, the Queen. Kagome’s fists clenched at her side as the time stretched on, waiting for her Mother’s reply.
“It’s is for your own good, Kagome my love.” She replied as she looked down at her folded hands resting upon her lap. “I am so very sorry but it is the law to marry a Prince, and he is your Father’s choice.” The queen finally looked towards her daughter, her eyes slightly glazed she looked at her with sorrow in her eyes as if begging for her daughter to forgive her.
Kagome turned on her heel and ran through the grand wooden doors, not daring to look back at her Mother. All she could think about was how outraged she was that her Father would want her to marry that filthy man. To marry that monster that village called a Prince was to marry the devil himself! As a young girl she’d always promise herself that when she chose to marry, it would be to a man she truly loved. This was not fulfilling her promise to herself.
Kagome pushed her doors open and locked them behind her. Running to her bed she shut her eyes tight and buried her face in the covers. I will never submit myself to that filthy man! Her mind flooded with an inappropriate string of curses that no Princess should even think of as she was now doing. She wiped angrily at her tears knowing tomorrow would be the day she’d meet him as her Mother had told her.
Tomorrow she’d be given away and be stuck in that castle with him until the day she died. For just a moment she thought about jumping out the window but then mentally slapped herself thinking that committing suicide was not going to solve her problems.
Her mind kept on going through reasons she’d never marry him; he was a monster to everyone around him, he never cut his hair, all he ever did was order people around, killed innocent villagers, and lay around on his ass all day! The cutting the hair one wasn’t the greatest reason though… She still knew he was a horrible selfish man. That was a good enough reason that out did all the others.
Kagome pushed her face into the covers deeper and sighed to herself. She blocked out the whole entire world for the rest of the day.

“I can’t do this Sango…” Kagome wheezed under her breath as Sango, her helper/best friend tightened her bodice for her. Sango sighed behind her and tied the strings.
“It’ll be okay Kagome,” She picked up one of Kagome’s best dresses and examined how to slip it onto her.
“I’m sorry to inform you that this is your life duty. No matter how much you resent him you must marry him and soon produce an heir to the throne…” Sango trailed off, noticing how Kagome stiffened at the last thing she mentioned. All of a sudden she slumped down on a chair against the wall.
Sango knelt in front of her and took a hold of her shoulders “Look at the bright side, I’ll be moved there with you and I’ll be there for you every step of the way.” Sango smiled at her brightly and Kagome only returned her smile with a small broken one. She pulled her off the chair and turned her around to finish buttoning the back of her dress.
“We can get through this.” Sango encouraged her as she lifted Kagome’s hair and tied it into an elegant bun, with small raven strands framing her face along with her bangs. Placing a small golden flower clip into her hair, Sango smoothed out her bangs and stood back to look at her.
“Perfect.”
Sango winked at her and then led them out to the grand gates in front of the castle. Her Father and Mother, the King and Queen, stood on the other side of the gate to wish their daughter farewell. She didn’t even look them in the eye as she unwillingly hugged them both and got into the carriage with Sango. Off the carriage went with one whip to the horses and the carriage slowly caught speed as it began to carry her off to her awaiting hell.

“My lord!! The princess has arrived!” The words echoed through the halls of the castle as the messenger bellowed from the front at the grand doors. The King of the country came trotting down the massive elegant stairs with his son following behind him, followed by his Mother the Queen. The Prince was looking down, as if his feet were suddenly so interesting as they kept stepping forward. He remembered the thing he’d promised himself when he was younger.
I’ll never fall in love! He heard his younger voice echo in his head from the day he’d heard that girl tell him she liked him. Just because he was being married off, did that mean he had to love her? His face turned into a sneer hidden away with his black bangs over his violet eyes. Of course that didn’t mean he had to love her. He never would love anyone or anything.
But as he stepped out of the doors his breath caught in his throat as his eyes laid upon the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. Her long raven hair blowing in the breeze, her blue eyes sparkling in the sun, the way she walked--- He mentally slapped himself. No falling in love.
Odd part was how she looked so very familiar. A little too familiar, like a bad case of déjà vu. She stepped forward and bowed her head respectfully and his Father raised a hand to her.
“Please, royalty bows down to no one. Not even other royalty.” He smiled at the young girl and she slightly smiled back. Her frame was small and she seemed like she’d collapse staring at his Father’s largeness. She looked over at him and she nearly choked on the gasp she breathed in when she saw him.
So she was right all along. He was the boy from her childhood that had run away from her when she’d uttered the words ‘I like you’ to him. Her face scrunched up into a nasty frown but she wiped it off her face as she averted her gaze from him to look at his Mother.
Why the sudden hatred? Then it hit him, she was the girl that he had run away from that day when he’d promised himself he’d never fall in love. He was suddenly filled with sadness, remembering how he had wanted to tell her how much he’d liked her too but was afraid of the consequences of love. He had to mentally slap himself once again. Was this girl actually getting in between him and his promise?!
He watched as guards took the two girls bags into the castle. He looked for the other girl; she was right behind the previous one. Standing straight with her hand intertwined with the Princess’s hand. She looked confident, unlike the Princess who looked weary and tired.
“Come now! We shall all go inside and get you girls settled in!” The King bellowed and had the servants show the girls to their room. Sango was settled into a room by herself while Kagome was ushered to a room that seemed already occupied. A grand bed was settled in the middle of the room with a thick plush golden comforter. A small dresser with a mirror hanging over it had a brush laid upon it and a vase of blue roses. She subconsciously noticed that those were her favorites. The servant laid her bags down and bowed to her, leaving the room without a word closing the door behind her.
Kagome slowly walked over to the bed, skimming her hand over the comforter’s smooth texture. Noticing the many patterns on the wall she sat on the bed to look more closely at them. A big painting of a clear field full of dandelions was in front of the bed covering most of the wall.
She heard the door being pushed open slightly and looked up to see who had come in. It was the Prince.
She mentally scoffed and turned away to look out the window. Kagome could hear him walk in and close the door behind him. When she looked up at him again, he was up against the door as if a barrier surrounded Kagome that he couldn’t pass.
“Hello.” She called out curtly across the room.
All he did was stand there. He looked like he was about to run away. She remembered when he had run away from her when she’d told him she liked him but she quickly pushed the thought away from her mind. She wasn’t going to feel sad over that, she should feel outraged at this boy in front of her.
“This isn’t your room is it?” She asked as she looked down at the comforter and rubbed it absentmindedly.
“Actually it is.” He said as he stepped forward.
“Well I guess we’re supposed to share a room.” She didn’t like the sound of that. She looked around the room searching for another bed but found nothing but a small miniature couch. She could fit on that…
She heard him ‘keh’ and he walked over to stand in front of her, having to push the thought about how beautiful she looked to the back of his mind.
“This is my castle, and my room. So listen closely. You’re going to follow everything I say no matter what it is. Got it?”
Anger flooded through Kagome as she shot up and stood in front of him and poked him in the chest, “No. You listen to me.” She growled up at him.
“I will not go after whatever you say like I’m some sort of dog.” She was yelling strings of profanity at him in her mind, knowing that if she spoke them aloud to him he’d probably slap her across the face. He had the right to do that unfortunately…
When he didn’t reply to her she huffed and looked away. She felt him take her chin and made her look at him.
“Yes you will.” He hissed at her.
She couldn’t hold back the slap that came after that. She’d slapped his hand away and was looking up at him infuriatingly.
He stumbled back with a disgruntled look on his face. Had she just slapped his hand away? He stopped in his tracks and stiffened to look at her with the most fuming expression on his face.
Oh god, she was in for the worst life she could think of…
A/N: Soo, just a little idea I got in my head that I wanted to write about. It’s fun to write this :D but I say that about every story and might get bored of this one… Though I think this one will go on and be finished(: Please review.
