Lizziful: Unique? Yeah I guess so…haven't seen it anywhere else, yet. So I guess that qualifies.

Kawii inu'no 45: It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, but I think that it is for the better.

Chapter 11:

Inuyasha started in his sleep, waking him up. He looked around from his perch up in the sacred tree. Standing up on his branch he looked around at the lights of the city, his red harori (sp) flapping in the breeze gently. He watched the headlights of the Mazda disappear down the steep drive way. He heard a door close behind him in the house. Kagome must still be home, he thought to himself, catching her scent below him.

He dropped out of the tree and onto the ground, unintentionally scaring the willies out of Kagome.

“Eek!” squeaked Kagome, “Inuyasha, don't do that.”

“Do what?” Inuyasha huffed, “come down out of a tree so I can talk to you.”

“No, but some warning would be nice,” Kagome said, trying to do a hasty cover up.

“Feh.” Inuyasha turned away

“Inuyasha,” Kagome was whining now, “I came out here because I wanted to talk to you, not just listen to myself babble on and on and on.” Kagome walked up behind Inuyasha and hugged him.

Inuyasha sighed and peeled Kagome off of him so he could turn around, “So what did you want to talk about?” Inuyasha turned around to look at Kagome. “Actually you know what, hold that thought.” In a single swift motion Kagome was in his arms and he was on his way up to the top of the sacred tree. Kagome squirmed violently for a moment as Inuyasha dragged her up with him, or rather, carried.

Inuyasha literally stepped off of the air and on to a flat branch near the top of the tree. Inuyasha set Kagome down o the branch and took a seat against the trunk. He pulled Kagome over to him, saying, “You don't need to worry about me. I grew up hearing worse things than that.”

“I know…” Kagome snuggled up a little closer to Inuyasha, “its just that…that she was my friend and, well…you know.”

“I guess so,” said Inuyasha, resting his head on the top of Kagome's head, wondering what she had meant.

Inuyasha and Kagome stayed like that for a long time, watching the lights of Tokyo spread out in front of them. Off in the distance there was a muffled thump. A glow appeared on the waterfront a few miles off.

“What was that?” Kagome said, not moving from her place next to Inuyasha.

“I don't know, but it doesn't matter, it was a long ways off,” Inuyasha nuzzled Kagome's neck, sending goose bumps down her spine, she giggled.

The glow off in the distance was starting to fade, and sirens could be heard racing toward it. Kagome pulled her self up into Inuyasha's lap, pulling his arms around her like a blanket. Inuyasha smirked and nibbled on her ear a bit making Kagome giggle.

Inuyasha and Kagome stayed up in the tree for a long time. Mrs. Higaroshi had come home and gone to bed by the time Kagome and Inuyasha left the branch they were sharing. Inuyasha picked up Kagome and dropped out of the tree. He landed on the ground softly and put Kagome down. She swayed unsteadily on her feet, sleep threatening to drag her down before she got to bed.

Inuyasha steadied her and guided her up to her room. Kagome only got as far as kicking off her shoes before she slowly tipped over on her bed, asleep. Inuyasha smiled to himself, tucking in Kagome and climbing up on the foot of the bed, tetsusaiga resting across several books on Kagome's desk. His eyes grew heavy with sleep, and he leaned back against the wall sleep pulling him down into a dream filled bliss.

Begin dream sequence:

Inuyasha was sitting on the foot of Kagome's bed, watching her sleeping figure. He felt drawn to her, like there was a magnetic force puling him to her, no it was deeper than that. It felt like he was being drawn toward his mate. A voice began talking in the back of his mind, “Sleep closer to mate, mate having bad dream.”

Inuyasha felt his body move, he watched as body in his dream moved closer to Kagome. Inuyasha felt something was wrong, he looked down at him self, he was still right here. He looked back at the other him, it was his demon side.

“No, he growled angrily at it, don't even think about touching Kagome!” He tried to move but found he couldn't. He felt as though he had been paralyzed.

“Why I hurt our mate?” his demon side asked him, wrapping his arm around Kagome's waist.

“She IS NOT our mate!” Inuyasha struggled harder, trying to move.

“She not mate? Then I make mate.” Inuyasha's demon side gently pulled back the cloth covering the top of Kagome's shoulder, exposing the base of her neck where the mark went, pressing his fangs to the spot.

“NO!” Yelled Inuyasha, willing his demon blood to leave Kagome alone, “You will not hurt Kagome!”

“You not want mate marked?” questioned his demon side, “why? You not want her as mate?”

“Of course I want her, but I will not hurt her.” Inuyasha felt a bit of sensation return to his body.

“You will not mark her because you are afraid to hurt her? I will leave for now, but we will talk again soon.” Inuyasha felt all sensation return to his body and he sprang at his demon side. His demon side ignored him and wrapped an arm around Kagome's waist, and put his nose to the back of her neck, taking a deep breath. Inuyasha slashed at him, but as soon as he did he felt as though he were untransforming from his demon self, a blackness surrounding him, awareness going out the window.

End Dream sequence.

Kagome woke up the next morning and began to start putting everything together. She was in her room, she had to get up for school, she was five minutes ahead of her alarm clock, there was an arm wrapped protectively around her waist, and someone was breathing on the back of her neck with their nose tickling the back of her neck. Wait a second, she thought, arm…neck…Oh My God did I have sex with some one?!? No wait, I would remember that…wouldn't I.

Kagome gingerly moved her arm and pulled the covers up to look at herself. She was still fully dressed except for her shoes. Good, I'm not naked in bed with anyone, unless they're naked. She felt the heat rise on her face. She care fully began to extract herself from the bed and the arm around her, a dream from last night popping into her head.

Inuyasha had been arguing with his demon side. Inuyasha looked like he couldn't move, and his demon side was cuddled up behind her, an arm around her waist, it's nose in the back of her neck, breathing her in. She couldn't hear what they were saying because she was asleep, but suddenly Inuyasha broke free and attacked.

Kagome furrowed her brow trying to remember what had happened next but couldn't.

Kagome was almost free now, she rolled away almost making it off the bed but the arm around her waist pulled her back, rolling her to face them in the process. Kagome suddenly found herself nose to nose with Inuyasha. Had it been a dream?

Inuyasha moved his arm a little, preventing her escape in his sleep. Kagome couldn't help but notice how cute he was sleeping, his ears taking turns listening to her and keeping watch. Kagome found herself wishing that they woke up like this more often but quickly squelched the thought.

Kagome remembered the alarm clock; she carefully reached up and turned it off before she returned her focus to Inuyasha. “Um…Inuyasha?” she asked timidly.

He responded to his name and cuddled a little closer in his sleep, now nuzzling her. Kagome felt her heart rate spike and the blood rush to her face turning it a brilliant red.

Inuyasha didn't notice, but began to transform, Kagome in his arms. Kagome felt the bottom of her stomach drop off the end of the earth. The Demon Inuyasha opened his eyes, red and blue staring into brown over a distance of a few inches. It spoke, “Good morning, Mate.”

“Umm…explanation please.” Kagome felt very awkward in this posture with the not quite Inuyasha, Inuyasha.

“I called you, Mate,” it said.

“Uh…that doesn't really mean anything to me. What does it mean?” Kagome was too confused to even remember to be terrified.

“I take it he hasn't told you has he?” demon Inuyasha asked.

“Told me what?”

“I'll let him explain it.” And with that the demon Inuyasha closed his eyes and the stripes faded from his face.

Kagome lay there mulling it all over in her head before she cuddled up to Inuyasha, who needs school anyway?

Down stairs in the Kitchen Mrs. Higaroshi nervously looked at the clock nervously and decided to intervene in Kagome's sleeping schedule. She put breakfast on the table for Gramps and Souta before she went up stairs to get Kagome.

Mrs. Higaroshi opened the door and found Kagome and Inuyasha curled up tight I each other's arms. Mrs. Higaroshi felt a bit bad about waking them up. Opening the window to let in some sunshine, Mrs. Higaroshi gently shook Kagome's shoulder. Kagome groaned in her sleep, but Mrs. Higaroshi persisted and finally got Kagome up. “Hurry up or you won't have time for breakfast.”

Nodding Kagome unwrapped her self from Inuyasha and rolled away, only to be pulled back. Kagome repeated the process several times before Inuyasha was awake enough to pull her back more forcefully. He pulled her back a final time and clonked him self on the nose with her head, successfully waking him up.

“Ow Kagome what was that…” He found himself nose to nose with Kagome who looked a bit frustrated about the fact that she was trapped next to a half demon who kept pulling her back in his sleep every time she tried to leave. “Uhhh…”

“Good you're awake,” she said pulling away again, “Now would you mind letting me get up so I can go to school.”

“Sure…” Inuyasha became suddenly aware of his arm and released her, causing her to fall off the bed. He poked his head over the edge of the bed to check on her and got hit on the nose again when she sat up.

“Oh sorry Inuyasha.” Called Kagome as she streaked about getting ready to go. He “feh”'d.

Inuyasha hid his tetsusaiga and got ready to go as wall, putting on his cloths for that day in Souta's room, and folding up his red harori.

He walked down stairs to find Kagome running around in a towel trying to find a clean uniform for school. Smirking Inuyasha walked past and into the Kitchen for breakfast, gramps was looking at the newspaper that read something about a ship exploding because of a gas leak on board. Inuyasha Sat down and cleared his plate relatively quickly. He left the house to go tell Miroku, Sango and Shippo what was up.

Inuyasha walked into the well house, and down the steps to the opening. He cursed the heavy shorts that he wore, the denim was coarse, and the cargo pockets chafed his knees. He jumped down the well eager to hurry up and get back.

Inuyasha emerged on the other side of the well, the clean air filling his nostrils. He jumped out of the well and into his own era. Inuyasha sprinted toward the village, dodging trees as he went. Inuyasha arrived back at the village to find Miroku, Sango, and Shippo.

Inuyasha didn't have to go very far to find them, all of them were lazing about in front of Kaede's hut, and Miroku and Sango seemed to have mellowed out more than just a little bit and were conversing as they had while Naraku had been alive. Shippo and Kirara were playing a game in the dirt using a number of small rocks. Shippo was the first one to spot him.

“Hi Inuyasha.” He said, looking up from his game.

“Hi, listen guys I'm gonna spend more time in Kagome's Era than I thought,” Kaede gave him a quizzical look, studying his odd garb, while the other just nodded their heads, not paying much attention.

“Inuyasha,” Kaede said, “What is that ye be wearing.”

“This?” Inuyasha plucked at his shirt, “This is the kind of stuff people wear in Kagome's time.” Inuyasha was about to leave when Kaede stood up and began to examine his cloths.

“I have never seen fabric of this kind before,” Kaede took hold of a fold of the fabric and rubbed it in between her fingers, “How strange.”

“Yeah yeah yeah. I gotta get going now. Kagome leaves for school pretty soon.”

“Aye Inuyasha, off with you,” Kaede said only to find she was speaking to air, Inuyasha's back moving away toward the well. “What a pain ye be Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha didn't even wait for Kaede to finish before he took off for the well. He jumped down into the well, passing over into Kagome's era. He didn't hesitate to return to the house, slamming open the well house door and jogging into the house to make sure he hadn't missed anything.

Inuyasha exploded into the house to make sure Kagome hadn't left yet. He didn't see her pack and her shoes weren't by the door either. Inuyasha growled and found Mrs. Higaroshi, he didn't have the time to go looking all over the shrine for Kagome. “Hey, Mrs. Higaroshi, Have you seen Kagome?” Inuyasha had a feeling that he was not going to like what he was about to hear. He had learned to trust those nagging feelings in his gut.

“Oh! Hi Inuyasha dear, Kagome went to school, I thought that you had left already so I let Kagome know that if she wanted to catch up with you she had better leave.” Inuyasha turned to go when Mrs. Higaroshi finished speaking, “Oh one more thing,” Inuyasha turned back around, a very angry look on his face, “Kagome forgot your lunches, and I packed you ramen.” Mrs. Higaroshi smiled at the look on Inuyasha's face when she mentioned the ramen, the savoring look for the ramen, and the grouchy look for being late, “Enjoy!”

“Inuyasha grabbed the lunches, his bill cap, and soared out the door, which he had never closed.

Inuyasha leapt from Roof to roof his eyes peeled for Kagome and her friends. He flew across the street again, landing on a roof with good visibility. Then he spotted Kagome, approaching the intersection where she usually met up with her friends he crossed the street again and landed in an ally, safely out of sight of anyone watching. He stepped out of the ally, the lunches still clutched in his hands, his nose and ears going into over drive to find Kagome. He scanned the crowded walkway, spotting Kagome at the cross walk, cars passing in front of her with inches to spare. He rushed over, clipping a person or two with the lunches. He pushed through the crowd of people around Kagome, reaching her at last.

“I thought we were going to go together?” He growled in her ear.

Kagome started, surprised at Inuyasha's presence, I thought It would take him longer for him to find me than this. I guess I won't get any `peace and quiet' with Eri and Ayumi. Kagome whipped around to face Inuyasha saying “How did you get back here? I thought that you had gone on ahead.” Kagome was having a hard time not laughing at Inuyasha.

“Kagome…” he said through gritted teeth his anger really starting to get the better of him now

“Oh look,” said Kagome, “light changed.” Kagome walked off, everyone going to their respective corners, Inuyasha following Kagome as best he could, the lunches still in his hand, but somewhat less secure.

Inuyasha finally caught up with Kagome on the far side of the intersection, “but you said that you would wait until…” Inuyasha found himself surrounded by Kagome's friends, a number of rather cool looks landing on him, effectively stopping his train of thought, “What?” the anger dropped from his voice immediately, the scowl still in place.

“Eri, don't go off on him like Yuka did.” Kagome stopped and looked at her friend, giving her a warning stare.

“Don't worry about it,” Eri's smile burst forth, revealing her joy for Kagome. Ayumi stood there confused, “Come on!” shouted Eri, “Or we'll be late for the `End of School Festival!'”

Inuyasha felt Kagome grab his arm and drag him off toward the school like a young child would her favorite doll.

Inuyasha was finally able to free himself from Kagome, who had become surrounded by people to see how she was doing. Inuyasha hovered protectively next to her, an arm holding her close and his had effectively hiding his incessantly roaming ears.

Kagome some how managed to think during the chaos, I hope Hojo doesn't show up, Inuyasha would kill him.

Perhaps by a cruel twist of fate he arrived in the crowd soon after. “Hi Kagome!” he greeted her enthusiastically, getting a bit to close to her for Inuyasha's liking. Hojo turned his attention to Inuyasha, as if noticing him for the first time, Hojo slid in between Kagome and Inuyasha, “And you must be her boyfriend…”

A/N: I know that was filler but I needed to write this to keep from just dropping you into the dance; I hate it when authors skip the boring but necessary parts. It's so confusing.
Only seven hits on the last chapter…maybe I should just give up on this and work on `To Live and Perish' for a while. Let me know. Please R&R (posted 3:30 a.m. MST)
