An Unforeseen Turn of Events

Suddenly Kagura looked up in the sky, her face a mask of wariness. Immediately Sango tried to see what she was looking, her hand on her sword. Some one or thing was coming. Kohaku just stared, nonplussed.

“Kohaku, I've missed you!”

A two headed dragon swooped down in their midst, as small girl on its back. She jumped off and ran over to the boy. He looked at her and a faint smile appeared on his face. Sango and Kagura watched them, baffled.

“Oh, excuse me, were you with these ladies?” Rin said. “You see, I told my Lord about you, and he agreed to let you travel with us.”

That was when both Kagura and Sango looked up to see…Sesshomaru standing on the cliff face above them, Jaken at his side. Sango narrowed her eyes suspiciously, but Kagura was a cold flame.

“Come on silly girl!” Jaken snapped. “Your friend must join us now before our Lord is changes his mind!”

Rin held Kohaku's hand, and looked at him pleadingly. Slowly he looked up at Kagura who shrugged.

“Go boy, if this is what you want,” Kagura said. “Take your freedom, of its sort, while you may.”

Nodding, Kohaku let Rin lead him back to Ah-Un, and mounted the beast behind her. Sango was so dumbstruck by this whole chain of events, she could hardly find anything to say. Finally she ran over to them.

“Kohaku, I will find you again, you will be free,” Sango said.

“Yes, lady,” Kohaku said mildly, and the beast leaped into the air.

Sesshomaru was gone in a white flash.

“Now it must be your time to leave,” Kagura said softly.

“I won't forget what you did for me,” Sango replied.

“You will, and you should,” Kagura said. “But thank you…anyway.”

Sango nodded.
