Chapter 3: Kaede Finds Out

Upon reaching the well-meadow, Kura and the gang find Sango and Miroku sitting on the edge of the well, looking worried. They leapt up when they approached, and sighed with relief when they saw Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kura holding hands. “So…you worked it out?” Miroku asked tentatively. “Yep.” Kura replied, snuggling up to Kagome's arm.

Inuyasha nodded his agreement. Sango smiled and commented; “It's about time you two got together. I suppose there being a third person is a good thing.”
“Yes,” Miroku said. “You'll have to let me join in on the fun, you have two girls and one guy.” Miroku wanked, rubbing his chin with that familiar glint in his eye.

Sango whapped Miroku on the head. “You will do no such thing!” She yelled. `Ok, ok…” Miroku false-whimpered at her. “You didn't have to hit me so hard.” “Too bad.” Sango countered. “Ouch, ouch, I die, I die!” Miroku whined. Kura grinned. You know something, Miroku?” She asked. “What?” “Shut up.”

Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo laughed. “Come on, let's go back to the village.” Shippo suggested. “Ok.” The others agreed. The gang made quite a sight heading into the village. There was the miko, Kagome, holding hands with the Hanyou, Inuyasha, with a strange girl on her other arm.

Said strange-looking girl had long black hair, purple eyes, tan skin, and wore a top similar to miko Kagome's, and blue pants like a man. Kura looked around. All of the villagers were staring at her. “What's the matter, like what you see? Well too bad, I'm taken!” She taunted.

Kaede-baba came out of her hut, only to fall back in shock. “Inuyasha? Kagome? Who is that with you?” She questioned. Kagome stepped forward. “I would like to announce to the whole village that Inuyasha and I are to be mated. In addition, this girl is an old friend that I made a promise to, long ago. We are to co-mate with her.” Kagome declared.

“You didn't answer my question.” Kaede observed. “This is my good friend Kura.” Kagome answered. “She is from a faraway island called Kauai.
And Kura, Inuyasha and myself are to be mated.” Kagome repeated steadfastly.
“What powers does she have?” One of the villagers questioned. Kura stepped forward. “I am an avatar, I have all of the powers of the Earth. I can also heal people, and do general magic.”

The villagers muttered amongst themselves, impressed. “Show us.” One of them demanded. Kura looked down at the ground. Then she lifted it to make a wall in front of her. Then she set it back down, all without moving. The villagers were awed. They believed her now.
Kaede stepped forward. “I see that you are very powerful indeed, and I sense no ill will from you, only mischief. Please, join us for our midday meal.”

“Most certainly, dearest Kaede-baba.” Kura purred. “I would be pleased to join you. What's for eating?”
Kagome punched Kura lightly in the arm. “What's for eating? That was so American of you.”
Kaede looked confused. “American? Aren't you from an Island called Kauai?”
“Yes, but Kauai is part of a country called America. Kauai is just one out of a small group of islands, collectively called the state of Hawaii.
“I see…” Kaede mumbled. “Well let us not all stand here and starve. Shall we eat?”
“All right!” Kura cheered. “Food! Finally! I haven't eaten in 36 hours!”
Kagome looked at Kura curiously. “Why not?” She questioned.
“ 'cause I've been on the plane, and then the train, and then my feet, and now I'm here! Collectively, it was a 36-hour journey.”
Kagome gave her a look. “And why didn't you eat during your travels?”
“ `cause I was too eager to see you, that's why.-everyone around gives a big “awwww…”- And now that I have, I'm hungry again. So let's eat! Villagers, disperse to your various eating places!”
“And who are you to order them around?” Kagome said, annoyed.
Kura grinned. “What, is that your job?”
“No!”
“Then it's mine.” Kura said with an air of finality that could not be dissuaded.
Kagome just looked at her and sighed. “Okay, fine. Let's just eat now.”
“Yay!!!”
