The Prophecy
Chapter 8
An ominous aura stormed down the hall of the west wing, warning all those in its path to get the hell out of the way. The ominous aura approached the King and a girl that the person surrounded by the ominous aura had never seen before. “King Sesshomaru!” they said in a demanding voice. “Where is Inuyasha?”
“Ah, Kikyou, this Sesshomaru sees that you have returned,” he commented with an emotionless voice.
“Don't play with me, your Majesty,” Kikyou growled, and Rin got the feeling that `Majesty' was said with disdain. “Where is your brother? And what is this that I hear about a court?”
“Ah, this Sesshomaru sees, well it seems as though Inuyasha and the priestess have a bit of a problem now don't they?” Sesshomaru commented. Rin had a nearly silent intake of breath, causing Sesshomaru to glance in her direction. She shook her head slightly and examined the woman in front of her. This was the sorceress that Ayame had said was pursuing Inuyasha.
“You might want to give up your pursuit of Inuyasha,” Rin commented coldly to the woman, much to the surprise of Sesshomaru. “Because I believe that he has already been claimed.”
Kikyou glared at her before stomping down the hallway, forgetting to get the location of the half-demon from his brother.
The two watched her stomp down the hall before glancing at each other. “That was a very good impression you did of this Sesshomaru,” said demon commented, now knowing for certain that this was his future mate, his future queen.
Rin blushed but smiled up at him and let him continue to lead her towards the mess hall.

The two had just left the room when Kagome stiffened and felt an ominous aura heading straight towards them. “Do you feel that, Inuyasha?” she asked her court.
“Shit, I know that aura, this is not good,” Inuyasha cursed.
“You know that aura?” Kagome asked, shivering, her spiritual energy flaring up in response to the imminent threat.
“Its Kikyou,” he growled, tightening the hold he had on her waist.
“Kikyou…” Kagome mumbled as she thought, knowing that she'd heard the name before. “Oh!” she exclaimed when she remembered. “Your stalker!”
“Yeah,” he mumbled as he watched said woman round the corner down the hall.
“Inuyasha!” the woman yelled in a shrill voice, making said half demon's ears plaster to his head and causing him to wince in pain. Kagome turned to face him and reached up to sooth the abused ears. “What do you think you're doing?!”
“Go away, Kikyou,” Inuyasha grumbled, leaning into Kagome's talented fingers, slipping his arms around her waist, and attempting to ignore the annoying woman.
“No! What is going on?! You are my court! You promised me!” she shrieked, enraged at seeing her man in the arms of another woman. One that wore breeches! Not even a true woman!
“No, I didn't, you drugged me,” Inuyasha stated.
“She drugged you?” Kagome laughed and abandoned his ears to rest her hands on his chest.
“It's not funny, Bitch,” Inuyasha growled, though the insult held an affectionate tone.
“Yes it is,” Kagome retorted. “Now, I'm hungry. Was there something pressing that you needed Kikyou?”
Kikyou gave her a deadly glare at her before launching herself at the couple. “You whore!” she yelled, her hands glowing with a deep purple energy.
Kagome's priestess powers flared and created a barrier around her and the prince. Kikyou hit the shield and shrieked in pain before she was flung away into the opposite wall with a resounding `thunk'. Inuyasha growled lowly and hugged his intended tighter to him.
“You cannot hurt us, Kikyou,” Kagome told her. The sorceress moaned before falling unconscious. Kagome turned back to look at Inuyasha and smiled. “Let's go get food and find someone to take out the trash.” She gestured behind her at the sorceress's crumpled form.
Inuyasha sighed when he glanced in Kikyou's direction before looking back at his court. He gave her a smile and pecked her lightly on the lips before leading her to the mess hall, unknowingly following after his brother and Rin.

Kikyou awoke sometime later in the medical wing. She scowled, remembering how she'd become to be in this state. `That whore,' she thought, growling at the thought of that…that no name stealing her man.
She pushed the covers off of her and left the medical ward, moving through the castle to the front gate. She quickly left the castle grounds and made her way into the surrounding forest. Once she was far enough away from the castle that they wouldn't be able to detect her powers, she flared them around her, causing them to transport her far away from the Western castle and into a dark room, lit only by a single candle.
“What news have you, Kikyou?” a deep voice asked from somewhere in the room.
“Inuyasha has chosen an intended mate,” Kikyou growled.
“I see,” the voice rumbled. “And I take it that it is not you?”
“I've never seen her before,” Kikyou complained. “She's a priestess, a powerful one.”
“A priestess and a half demon…interesting…well it seems as though we'll need to…introduce ourselves…” the voice said with a contemplative voice. “Kagura.”
“Yes, your Majesty?” a woman's voice answered. Kikyou turned in the direction of the new arrival. She was a tall and slim woman with brown hair, pulled up into a twist at the back of her head. Her red eyes glowed in the wane candle light and a feather in her hair moved in a nonexistent wind.
“We will ready the troops and move to…greet this new priestess…”
“Yes, your Majesty,” she answered, bowing and moving out of the room.
“Come, Kikyou,” the voice spoke, the rustle of fabric heard as the person moved into the candle light.
“Yes, King Naraku.”
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------
Inuyasha and Kagome entered the hall and searched the crowd for their friends. The only one that they spotted, though, was Rin and she was…
“Is she with your brother?” Kagome asked, surprised.
“Yeah…” Inuyasha answered, though very, very confused. There, at the head table, were Sesshomaru and Rin. Rin was talking animatedly to the stoic King from his right side, but what Inuyasha found startling was the…twinkle…that he'd never before seen in his brother's eyes and the small tilt of the corners of his lips in what could only be described as a ghost of a smile.
“Kagome?” Inuyasha asked, uncertain, his hackles rising.
“Yeah?” Kagome murmured back.
“Is my brother smiling?”
“Hm. I think so.”
Inuyasha shivered. “Weird. Usually the only time that he smiles is when he's about to kill someone he really doesn't like.”
“Are we going to join them? Because I'm hungry.”
“Sure.” They made their way around the tables and over to the new couple, where they were instantly provided food for by Sesshomaru's personal staff.
“You two seem cozy,” Kagome commented to her friend as she sat across from her. Rin blushed and looked away from Kagome. Kagome grinned and leaned forward, prodding her with her foot under the table. “Cozy here with the King, eh Rin?”
“Shut up, Kagome, he just invited me to eat breakfast with him,” Rin muttered.
Inuyasha turned to his brother and asked with a smirk on his face, realizing his ulterior motive and asked, “You did, did you?”
“This Sesshomaru thinks that you should mind your own business,” the King responded as he elegantly at his morning stew.
“Only breakfast?” Kagome asked with a sly grin.
“At least I'm not being reckless like someone I know!” Rin shot back.
“What do you mean reckless? I'm following my heart! And who knows how long we're stuck here! We might as well take advantage of it!” Rin gave her a dry look. “I'm serious!”
“Its not going to take long for you to get your cherry popped,” Rin said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Not with the way you two are going.”
“At least I'm going somewhere!”
While the two bickered back and forth, the rest of the group arrived.
“What are you two fighting over?” Sango asked as she leaned on the table, looking between her two friends. The fight instantly stopped as the two looked up at her and then at each other. They blushed as they realized that everyone in the vicinity was privy to their conversation. They sprung up, grabbing their friend and Ayame before bolting towards the exit.
“Gotta go—girl talk—be back later!” Kagome yelled back to her court.
The guys watched in fascination as they left a dust trail behind them in their haste. “What…the hell was that about?” Inuyasha asked.
“This Sesshomaru does not know,” the King answered.
“What were they arguing about anyway?” Miroku asked curiously as he took the seat that Kagome had originally occupied.
“Popping a cherry,” Inuyasha answered.
“What does that mean?” Kouga asked, leaning against the table.
“This Sesshomaru does not know,” Sesshomaru answered, a nod of agreement coming from his brother.
“Well, they're certain to tell Ayame, so I'll find out from her,” Kouga said thoughtfully, wondering just how in the world you could pop a cherry.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------
“I can't believe you two were arguing about that!” Sango said laughing as they finally stopped in the gardens by their rooms.
“I can't believe that we were arguing about it right in front of them!” Kagome said with a red face.
“What were you arguing about? Something about cherries?” Ayame asked her voice confused.
Kagome and Rin blushed while Sango grinned and prodded them in the sides. “W-well, it's a term that we have for someone who lost their virginity,” Kagome mumbled almost inaudibly. “When you pop your cherry, you lose your virginity.”
“You're kidding,” Ayame said with a deadpan voice. When the girls shook their heads she chuckled.
“You won't tell them, will you?!” Kagome asked, fearful that her court would think less of her for arguing over something like that.
“I won't tell them, no,” Ayame said, shaking her head while thinking and mentally grinning, `Though, I will tell Kouga.'
“Either way,” Kagome said sighing, her face losing some of its blush, “at least we know that none of us will leave this world as virgins.”
“Excuse me?” Sango said shocked that she wasn't excluded.
“Oh, come on Sango, we've seen the way that you look at the monk,” Rin said rolling her eyes. “It's only a matter of time.”
