Chapter Two
Sorry so late, I actually completely forgot about this story. I've been a bit preoccupied. I'll probably end up rewriting this later, because I'm not really feeling it right now. But let me know what you think!

`The time isn't right, you'll know…' what the hell does that mean? Maybe Mother was right in thinking that the woman is off her rocker.”

Kagome rolled her eyes as she packed up her bookbag, half of a banana hanging out of her mouth. “Oh come off it, Souta. She's been right about so much though, and it all sounds so real. It's just so confusing, you know? I mean, where did all this come from? One day I'm a normal teenage girl just trying to get through high school, and the next I'm some chosen warrior trying to save the world.”

“Maybe they'll make a movie out of your life,” Souta commented, giving her a cheeky grin.

She chucked a chunk of her banana at him. “You're so not understanding,” she said with a laugh. “Whatever, I gotta go. Maybe this'll all blow over, like some kind of joke. I mean, stuff like this just does not happen in real life. Ever.”

“Yeah, keep thinking that. I suggest going back to Miss Sayo's after school. Maybe she'll let you take a look at that maze?”

“Yeah, maybe.”

“…and this is our newest student, coming all the way from America, InuYasha. Why don't you take a seat, young man?”

Kagome glanced up from her textbook, locking eyes with the handsome stranger. He was looking at her strangely, she noticed. He smirked, and made his way to the open seat behind her. “Didn't expect to see your face again, Kagome,” he whispered from behind her.

She stiffened, and turned slightly. “I've never seen you, or heard of you in my life. What are you talking about?”

“God, you're still so fucking stupid. I guess Mira hasn't told you yet.”

“Mira?”

He rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed. “Yes, Mira Sayo. That woman you go to for all your little girly problems.”

Her eyes flared. “What on earth…?”

The cool breeze was doing little to calm her anger. First, Miss Sayo, or `Mira', was telling people what she was confiding in her, and second, there was an extremely irritable, annoying person next to her who claimed he knew her, even though she had never seen him in her life. Needless to say, she was hurt, confused, and a tad irate.

Finally, Mira walked outside, three cups of herbal green tea on a platter. “Hello Kagome, nice to see you again. And InuYasha, welcome back. It's been years!”

“Miss Sayo, when exactly were you planning on telling me whatever it is that Inu-whatever was talking about in the middle of class today?”

Mira gave her a sly smile. “Drink your tea, Kagome. Getting angry is awful for your chi. I know we have a lot to talk about. I was going to tell you, but I didn't feel the time was right. I wasn't expecting InuYasha to arrive so soon…”

“Tell me what? And how do I know this guy?”

InuYasha scoffed. “I can't believe you don't fucking remember me.”

Mira stood. “InuYasha, why don't you head on down to the maze. There are some things Kagome and I need to talk about.”

“Yeah, sure, whatever.”

It took two excruciatingly slow minutes before Mira deemed him out of earshot. “Kagome… I know you're upset with me right now. This isn't how I wanted you to find out about everything. You see, there has long been talk about reincarnations. Supposedly, when someone dies, their soul floats on to the afterlife, where the guardians decide if they are ready to enter eternal life or not. If there is unfinished business, then they are sent back to earth as reincarnations. But sometimes… things get laggy. There have been reports of supposed reincarnations hundreds of years after the original spirit's death.”

“So you're saying you think I'm some kind of reincarnation?”, Kagome interrupted, her mind scattered and slow to comprehend.

“Let me finish. Supposedly, when a soul is reincarnated, it takes a while for the host to fully accept it. As you age, you adapt traits and memories of the soul inside of you. InuYasha has already adapted many memories and traits, which is where the knowing you comes from. You see, he sees you as his long lost love who betrayed him horribly, although he does not know why yet,” Mira went on. “Things are terribly confusing, I know, and I wish they weren't. But Madame Hi-Na was right. You are involved in some sort of ancient prophecy. Now come on, let's head to the maze.”

Kagome stared blankly. A reincarnation? Of… Kyoko? And that would make InuYasha Jacques' reincarnation? The entire thing unnerved her, but she swallowed her fear and followed Mira Sayo into the lake.
