Disclaimer: No, I Don't Own Inu-yasha or any of the characters in them. I am just writing a story, and it just happens to involve them. Hope you like it, and I would appreciate helpful feedback. In addition, I don't as to rating where this flic will go so I may change it at the end this is just so that I have enough legroom.

The Real Jewel: Prologue

" You will never be as good as your younger brother. Give it up. You'll never win my heart. Your mother couldn't either. That's why I left."

"Nooooooooo…"!

*Meanwhile, at the same time*

<Evil laughter> "That's right! Cry you weakling! You're nothing but a mere half-welp. How dare you think you wield the Tessaiga? (A/n. forgive any wrong spelling, it will get better as it goes). You'll never be anything better than a worthless, half-whelp.

"Nooo.. It's not true, *both Inu-yasha & Sesshomaru wake up* "I'll show you"

<Pant, pant>

~~ At Sesshomaru's Castle~~

^ Sesshomaru wakes up and in still lying in bed, shocked by how real it had seemed, and more by how much it had moved him^

Sess: Ahh… Damn him! Damn Inu-yasha! Damn him and his stinking, worthless, thieving mother!

*Voice* Now, Now Sesshomaru. Is it really, Inu-yasha and his mother you blame for your turmoil?

Sess: Of course them! It is all their fault. First, that woman stole my father's love from my mother and took me from her to be raised by a human. I.. I raised by a human. To be in subjection to someone so beneath me was, was unbearable.

And then if that wasn't enough the winch bore a child.

An insolent lil' half-whelp. That was the finale blow. To see my father be brought down so low. To have to bear if the taunts and jeers. Besides… she could never of loved me. In her eyes, I would always just be a reminder of the woman my father loved first, and that she only got him by default. I was just another youkai that she had to tolerate.

*Voice* But, whydo you harbor such feeling of hatred towards humans?

Sess: Because… because…. My Mother..

*Voice* Your mother what?

Sess: My Mother was a strong demoness who despised the coupling of youkai and humans. It just wasn't done. Female youkai rarely ever take human mates…hells.. They rarely take mates at all. That's the difference between us, especially true with animal youkais. Males mate usually for life, but females tend to stick around until they get bored or some youkai they think is better comes along. That's why most youkai couplings come more from the need to procreate the youkai line than love…

*Voice*Was that the case between your parents? Was there any love?

Sess: individually, they were both unrivaled in their class. My father was the Lord of All the Western Lands and my mother was an extremely powerful demoness that had a legion of youkai warrior spirits in her control. She was the envy of the lesser female youkais. Together they were a unified, unstoppable force, which remained matchless…. Unmatched that is, until she came along.

*Voice *But Was There LOVE?

Sess: There was respect. Deep Respect and honor for tradition.

*Voice* BUTLOVE! WAS THERE LOVE SESSHOMARU?!

Sess: No! All right, No! There wasn't any love. My father tried but my mother didn't care for him, just the power that their alliance gave her. She took others to her bed, but would kill any youkai father admired and tried to bed….

Sess-con't: For a long time Father stopped caring, He hardened inside. Until one day, he meets her. He didn't know I had followed him, or at least it did at the time.

^Sesshomaru thinks back to the time his father first meet Inu-yasha's mother^

He was on his usual patrol of the lands, when he came across her bathing in one of his more private streams. There he stood glaring at her, death in his eyes… her death. Even from where I lay hiding, it sent chills through me. However, she didn't run, or even cover herself behind one of the boulders.. Really, just stood there in the water, that went only up to just before her armpits mind you, and looked perturbed at him.

I still remember that conversation.

~~Flashback~~

Woman: Hentai

Father; Do you know who's stream your in?

W: yes, mine.

F: What! This stream and all these lands belong to me! The Lord of the Western Lands.

W: That may very well be true of the lands and I won't fight you there, but I have own this stream sense my birth.

F: Really? ~Smugly~ Please do Elaborate Just how this is so.

Sess: just why he hadn't killed her immediately confused me.

W: Gladly. I was born over there*points* where the bank reaches the water. My mother and father died protecting me from a pack of wandering wolf youkai, setting me to rest in a basket down in the nettles of the stream. And when they died they gave they souls to this stream to become the spirits of it to protect me. So you see, I can't allow you to claim it. To claim this stream is to claim me, and I am not something that can or ever will be claimed.

Sess: *laughs*I can still remember the look on his face as he stood there for the first time in his life in front of something that had no fear of him. What was even more comical is that that first would turn out to be a human female. * Laughs again as he remembers his father's response*

Father: Feh.

Sess: the only thing he said. His face now so emotionless. As it usually was, but that one word would carry through to his offspring… just as his ability to mask his emotions had to…me.

Sess: As my father turned to walk away, apparently not soon enough…

W: hentai

F: Woman, Do you know just what I am.

W: Yes, you're a Man.

F: no I am a youkai and the ruler of these lands.

Sess: whatever it had been that had fueled her unabashed sense of superiority of the matter fled as the reality of to whom she had been speaking and name-calling sunk in.

* Voice* why? What did she do?

Sess: blushed, sunk down in the water as her modesty reared its head. Looked away and for once was silent.

That was however, until my father made the fatal mistake of laughing as he walked away.

The woman looked up, the blush of embarrassment all gone giving way to the fire of anger. Her face seething red, her abruptly rose from the water and with all her might screamed.

W: WELL I STILL THINK YOU'RE A HENTAI, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE!!!

Sess: and that sealed it for my father. He decided then and there.

As he turned around she jumped back down to the coverage the waters provided, and awaited her death… and waited… until there just came a voice to which at once her eyes flew open and locked to its master.

F: Woman, What is your name?

W: Ts.. Tsarina.

(A/n. okay author's right to freedom card being used. I haven't found out yet whether or not they give Inu-yasha's mom a name so if I'm wrong substitute. End a/n)

F: Well, Tsarina, Yell, Scream, Kick, Bite, Vent all the anger your little body holds*she flushes* for in 6 months of your time I will come back to claim not only this stream, but its master.

Sess: and with that, he left.

I followed confused by the whole thing that had just taken place. That evening my father went about things as if nothing had happened. I began to think that my father had just said that to scare the woman, and it served her right. That was until late that night my father came into my room and said.

F: Sesshomaru, my son. I have let you follow me for so long for I thought it the best way for you to learn the tools you will need to govern this lands, but if you ever mention a word of what happened today at my stream or the woman there. You and I will go on the last walk you'll ever have. Do you understand me son.

Sess: y.yes father.

F: good, now get some rest my son.

And he left.

* Voice* so did you start hating humans then? What Happened next? What about your mother?

Sess: Hey! Wait a minute! What is it with all this questions? Who are u?

`````Just then there's a knock, and Kagome walks in````

*Voice* Ahh… I see it's time for me to depart, but I'll be back * voice disappears from sesshomaru's mind*

Kagome: Sess.. Shomaru, Are you okay?

Kagome: "Sesshomaru… are you all right?"

*It's so dark. I can barely see him. I hope he's okay. Why isn't he answering me? Does he have a fever? Is he hallucinating? Gods, he can't get sick now we're so close. *

~Slowly kagome made her way to sesshomaru's bed. His figure was barely decipherable amongst all the comforters and pillows that made up the bed. It looked very much like an immense pillow if you excluded the posts that stood at each corner of the bed, supporting the vast array of sheer silks and linens that draped over as the bed's canopy. ~

Kagome: "Sess. Are you ok. Can you hear me?"

~She walked till she reached the foot of the bed. Her moment's benounced to her, being recorded by sesshomaru. He did not move a muscle. His eyes never blinked, but stayed firmed posed so that barely any of his golden eyes gleamed through. ~

~When she reached him, she placed a hand gently and lightly on his forehead. ~

~After a few minutes of testing for a fever, kagome began to absentmindedly stroke the hair strands away from his face. Her movements akin to a mother caring for her sleeping child. All the while, she continued to study the would-be sleeping form lying in front of her. ~

Sess: "what are you doing woman?"

Kagome: *gasp* " You're awake!? "

~Frozen under sesshomaru's now open-eyed gaze, kagome's hand instinctively clutches the stands of his hair into her fist ~
