The Right Way - A Long Way Back Home
It had been several weeks since Kagome had finished high school. Surprisingly enough and to her mother and grandfathers pride, she had graduated with honors. She had told the group that after she graduated she would spend some time in her era, and come back. Inuyasha had originally been so opposed to the idea that he had literally told her he forbade it. Of course Kagome had been infuriated by his remark, and did two things. First she made him sit so many times Kaede had to intervene, and second, she said “Because of your stupid remark I may be gone for several weeks, and so help me, if you come and try to take me back here, I'll SIT you harder than all the SIT's you just got right now.” After a few tear-filled good-byes to her fellow friends, she jumped down the well looking forward to a nice vacation.
Well she thought it was a nice vacation. The first two weeks had been the best of her life; she hung out with her school friends, went to a spa, and had gone to several parties. But amidst all the celebration of finally leaving school, and all the relaxation, by the time the first half of the third week came around, she had gotten bored of the modern lifestyle. It was not to be misunderstood that she most definitely enjoyed the company of her family and friends, and all the benefits of the modern lifestyle, but after a short while it got very dull very quickly. There was no action, no real adventure, and rather largely surprising, no Inuyasha.
It was the last part that had surprised her the most actually. In the time she had been gone, not once had Inuyasha showed up. She kept telling herself that even though she had sit him so many times, that because he was a hanyou he would heal quickly; but for some reason, far beyond her own comprehension, she kept thinking “What if I really hurt him?”
What really weirded her out was earlier today she had thought about the situation and instead of just wondering if she hurt him physically, she thought “What if I hurt him emotionally?” quite loudly in her head. Trying to cover the gasp from her mouth with her hand, she thought about what she had just thought. Did she really have feelings for the hanyou, “I mean we've been together, I mean our party has been together for a while, couldn't it just be an insignificant mutual attraction? It's not like I could have feelings for him, could I?” she thought to herself.
She stopped on the bridge she had been walking across, and looked out at the sparkling stream that the bridge had been built over. “Do I have feelings for him?” she asked herself again as her right hand brought itself over her heart while the other arm supported her against the bridge. She was mentally trying to qualm the feelings she was feeling inside but to no avail. Suddenly all she could think about was Inuyasha.
Meanwhile, while Kagome was having her little “How Do You Do Moment?”, a set of familiar amber eyes scanned the bridge from atop a high building. “There she is,” said Inuyasha with a snort, “not caring about anything like usual.”
“That ain't fair!” said a part of his brain.
“Shutup!” he thought back.
“Although,” he thought to himself, “in almost every fight, aside from him, she was the only other person watching out for everyone. Sure I had to save her ass a few times, but as of late she's been handling herself alright. Speaking of ass,” he thought, “those clothes she has on...” Without hesitation Inuyasha slapped himself, hard. “Thoughts like that could get me in trouble, even here.” He said aloud looking around. “Well not here but still…” he thought.
Inuyasha didn't know that much about sex, but his demon side told him he was going in the right direction, as his human side told him “just does whatever feels good”. These thoughts had been quite a problem for Inuyasha as of late.
In all honesty he was confused about what was going on inside of him. His demon and carnal instincts told him that these feelings were normal, but the rest of him didn't know what to do with the instincts or how to even try to form them into words, let alone what they meant to humans. All he really had to go by were stories or snippets of information that Miroku had told him when the grouped stopped to stay in a hotel, and Miroku wanted to drink. The things that monk had said to him, not only did they leave out no details, but they were definitely able to be labeled more than lewd. The worst part about all of it was that instead of leaving the monk to drink alone, he for some reason always stayed to hear him out.
“The things that monk can say.” Inuyasha said, covering his face with his hands, while blushing a crimson red.
“I have to think of something else…” he said to himself. So he set his mind on what had happened the past few weeks. The sits Kagome had issued had hurt but only put him out of action long enough for her to get her point across.
Not much had happened during the weeks Kagome was gone. Well a few things had happened. Sango and Miroku had grown seemingly closer together while Kagome was gone. Shippou was on the verge of turning 13, and his now-less-of-an-ass brother had stated that his alignment to Inuyasha was neutral now. He had even gone so far to say: “Inuyasha if you ever need trouble, contact me, and I will see if you are in a befitting enough situation where I can help you.”
“Where I can help you.” Inuyasha said in a mocking tone. As far as Inuyasha was concerned his brother could go fuck himself. He didn't his help in the past, and he sure as hell didn't need it now. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, and the more the solid brick and concrete mini-wall his hands rested on, broke and crumbled underneath his mighty strength.
Feeling his demon blood start to boil, Inuyasha started to desperately think about anything else; his thoughts immediately turned to Kagome, “Crap.” He thought. Looking down to see if Kagome was still where she was, and of course she wasn't. “Where the hell could a woman like Kagome be possibly doing in this era?” He thought, but he soon caught her scent and went to catch up.
Kagome chose today to be one of the last few days she spent in the modern era, until she went back through the well. Today she had planned to go shopping and get something special for Inuyasha. She had already bought several other tokens of affection for the other members in her group.
She had noticed that before she left Sango and Miroku had been getting “along” better than normal. She knew that the two without a doubt would one day get married. She had had several talks with Sango in the past about Sango's relationship with Miroku.
While those conversations revealed only a few words from Sango, the revealed books to Kagome. She wanted to get them each something special. Kagome knew Miroku knew how to read, so she had already bought him a book called “What Women Want”, which was a book written by a woman, talking about all the things they liked in a basic man. She made sure to highlight the pages regarding looking or touching other women.
For Sango, Kagome had to think long and hard as to what to get her. She had finally decided on getting her three things, the first were a bottle of birth control pills. “I will never be able to get that purchase out of my mind.” She thought to herself blushing. She had also gotten her, a highly reputable weapon maintenance kit. She knew Sango always kept her gear and weapons in good order, so she felt best giving her something like that. The final thing she had bought her that she could kick herself for not buying years ago, was a friendship necklace.
Kaede and Shippou had been much easier to buy for. For Kaede she had bought her, a rather thick book about modern chemistry that featured the use of traditional Japanese herbs. For Shippou, who she had always thought of as a son, of course bought him pocky, but she also got him a specially made set of formal wear, and battle wear. She had also gotten him special made pens, school supplies, and over time her personal collection of school books. “He's definitely smart so I better bring twice the number of books I intended!” she thought with a smile.
But for Inuyasha she was greatly undecided. No matter what she thought of buying, it always seemed to be no good to her. Slowly she passed shop by shop, “Ramen, I could always get him ramen.” She thought to herself, before suddenly being pulled into an alleyway by a strong hand.
Kagome immediately tried to scream and fight back, but whoever it was, was far too strong for her. She struggled as hard as she could until she felt a warm breath tickle her neck, and a familiar voice sound: “Kagome! QUIT! STRUGGLING!” she heard Inuyasha's voice, say to her, “It's me, hold still!”
Kagome immediately stopped struggling and froze in place, she then took a step forward; “Inuyasha?” she said before turning around on her heel, “SIT!”
Before Inuyasha had a second to react he slammed into the ground, and got a mouthful of asphalt. “What did I say would happen if you came here?” Kagome said almost screaming, “SIT!” Again Inuyasha tasted asphalt.
“Why the HELL are you here!?” Kagome raged. As Inuyasha lifted his head to start to speak, Kagome sounded off with another “SIT!” Kagome was glaring at the back of the hanyou's head as she got ready to release a pain he had never felt before on him.
“Kago-“ Inuyasha started, before Kagome screamed another “SIT!”
This time when Inuyasha started to raise his head, he said “I came be-“ before he could even finish the word “because”, Kagome sounded off yet again with another “SIT!”
Raising his head again he started with “DAMMIT WOMAN LET ME EXP-“, but Kagome snapped off another “SIT!”
“Let you EXPLAIN what?” Kagome asked with a low growl in her voice.
“I came here-“ Inuyasha started, “Against my wishes!” Kagome answered for him.
“I came against your wishes because…” Inuyasha trailed off. “SHIT!” he screamed mentally to himself, he hadn't thought of a reason to come and visit her.
“Because why…” Kagome said her voice hitting a very low growling point.
“Oh crap she's gonna sit me again!” Inuyasha's mind screamed. “What do I do?” he thought. Covering her mouth with his hand would only piss her off more. And he sure as hell couldn't say “I came to check on you.” Or “I came to take you back.” They were both way too stupid. “Shit I'm running out of idea's!” he thought as Kagome's lip's started to form word's.
“Inuyasha, si--“ Kagome started to growl out, but before she could get the last letter out, she felt Inuyasha's lips press quickly against hers.
Inuyasha felt Kagome's body go abosolutely stiff when he touched his lips to hers. “Too late now,” he thought, “I shoulda' used my hand instead.” He pressed his body lightly against hers, and he felt her body start to relax against him. “Okay, maybe this wasn't the worst idea.” He thought to himself. He started to bring Kagome's body close to his.
“This is not what I thought he was going…. to…” Kagome's mind slipped off track momentarily. She felt Inuyasha's warm body press against hers. She wanted to say something but she couldn't think. Her mind was totally engulfed by the pleasure of the kiss.
Never did she expect an act so simple, an act so simple and from all people Inuyasha would make her body melt the way it was melting right now. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she remembered her thoughts about Inuyasha previously while she had been walking.
Inuyasha brought a hand up and brushed some of Kagome's hair out of her beautiful face. “Way better than using my hand.” He thought, “maybe she won't kill me after all.” He felt her right hand press lightly against his chest.
“Oh what the shit do I do now?” Inuyasha thought to himself, as he parted his lips from hers. He opened his eyes that he hadn't realized he had shut. Kagome was blushing red, and he could only feel the same intensity of flushed cheeks on his own face. Slowly they separated, and Kagome slowly opened her eyes.
Kagome cast her eyes down at an angle before looking into Inuyasha's amber eyes. That had to be the most unexpected and best kiss in her life. Taking a step back she hid her hands behind her back and looked at Inuyasha.
“She is so incredibly beautiful.” Was all he could think.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome barely choked out still reeling in the feel of the kiss.
“Yea?” was Inuyasha's short and curt reply.
“Sit.” She whispered into one of his ears.
A simple “Gah!” was all Inuyasha could sprout out before slamming face first back into the asphalt, with the largest shit eating grin he had ever bore in his life.
Kagome took several deep breaths before she steadied herself, and in a calm voice said, “Inuyasha, I'm going home for dinner now, if you'd like to join me you can, but don't say a single word on the way back or I WILL end your life.”
Inuyasha nodded into the asphault, still grinning. As Kagome turned to leave Inuyasha got up and dusted himself and the grin, off. “Way better than using my hand.” Was all the hanyou could think to himself.
