Chapter Sixteen

The Blood of the Rival

 

Kagome grinned as she watched Sango and Miroku talking in the back of class. Ever since they had arrived at school Miroku had been so excited that he couldn't even sit still. Of course Sango was looking for any good reason to back out of the date but Julia said that if she did that the illusion would loss a lot of its effect. As for Inuyasha, well he had his hands full. Koga seemed to think that she belonged to him and a fight had broken out within the band of The Calling. Koga and Inuyasha couldn't even sit in the same room together before one of them was egging the other on.

 

As for Kagome she was getting tired of the whole thing. It was becoming more and more bothersome then anything. At first she thought it was cute but now it was getting on her nerves. Inuyasha was always asking her if she liked Koga or why she `flirted' with him. Inuyasha no baka! I am not flirting with Koga and I never will. I think that he is a nice guy and I just want to be his friend.

 

Kagome was brought out of her musings as, once again, Koga had said something probably along the lines of `Kagome is my woman Inu-kurro', and that set Inuyasha off. Why can't Sorano or Sesshomaru be in Science with us? But no they wanted to take advanced English.

 

“I swear wolf you shut up right now! Kagome is not yours and she never will be! If you haven't noticed Kagome and I are dating!!”

 

“Whatever Inu-kurro. Kagome is my woman she is just confused right now as to which guy she should be with. When she comes to her senses she will end up with me!”

 

Kagome did a double take. “Excuse me Koga? `When I come to my senses' are you saying that I don't know what I want.”

 

Inuyasha smirked as Koga tried to back pedal, “That's not what I meant Kagome. I am just saying that Inu-kurro is clouding your judgement. He is just a hanyou. I am full-blooded youkai. It makes more sense to be with me then him.”

 

Kagome crossed her arms as she stared at Koga, “It doesn't matter what someone is born it matters who they become. I know who Inuyasha is and I know for a fact that I'm not giving him up!”

 

Sango jumped up, “That's right Koga! Inuyasha and Kagome are double dating with me and Miroku this Friday night!”

 

Kagome and Inuyasha both looked at Sango. Inuyasha was the first one to get out what Kagome was thinking, “Come again?!”

 

Sango looked at both Kagome and Inuyasha with such puppy dog eyes that Kagome just smiled and shook her head, “Of course Sango we are coming. I almost forgot. I guess I'm just getting forgetful these days.” Just getting forgetful these days. Yeah Kagome that's a winner.

 

Sango came over and glomped Kagome, “Thank-you so much Miko!! I own you big time.”

 

Kagome hugged Sango back and whispered, “You bet you do and I can think of a few things that will make up for it.”

 

Sango pulled back and cocked an eyebrow at Kagome. Kagome just grinned as she turned away. I don't think that I'm going to be having any paper work to fill out at the United Alliance for a least a good month.

Sorano stood alone atop the roof of the school. It was beautiful day and the light breeze felt nice against her skin. Sorano didn't know what made her think of the roof but something had been bothering her for a while now. Ever since the wasp youkai attacked the school and then again last night. The feeling just didn't seem to go away.

 

Why did the wasp youkai start to leave once they had Kagome that night? Why did their eyes turn red when they grabbed her? Kagome had told Sorano all about the incident with the wasps last night. The day at the school I thought that the wasps were after Rin but once Kagome showed up they all started to attack even more.

 

“Sorano?”

 

Sorano turned slightly and smiled as Rin walked towards her. “Ah Rin just the girl I was looking for.”

 

Rin walked over and stood beside Sorano. They stood in silence for a while as they stared off into the endless blue skies. Rin was the first to break the silence that had settled over them. “Sorano I was a little curious as to why you wished to speak with me. Especially alone and on the roof no less.”

 

Sorano didn't look at Rin when she started to answer her question, “Something as been eating away at me for over a week now. I need you do some digging for me and I don't want the others to find out. I don't even want Kaeda to know until I can prove or disprove my theory.”

 

“And that would be?”

 

“The day that the wasp youkai attacked the school I thought that they were after you. But once Kagome got into the battle the wasp youkai attacked even more. Then, now that I think about it, the night at the club Kagome's old guardian showed up saying that he wanted Kagome. And then last night the wasp youkai took Kagome away. Once they had her they were all leaving.”

 

Rin crossed her arms as she thought about it, “I think I know where you are going with this Sorano. But Kaeda has Kagome's file under lock and key at all times. But what I do know is that Shigekazu is after the Fortune of the Higurashi family.”

 

Sorano turned and looked at Rin, “What is this fortune?”

 

Rin shrugged, “I have no idea. When I first joined the United Alliance I made sure that I knew who everyone was and what their background was. I read all about Kagome's family history and their tragic deaths but when I got to the part about the family secret and the family fortune it wouldn't let me read it.”

 

Sorano cocked an eyebrow, “But Rin you have Omega Clearance. That's the highest clearance. Nothing is out of your reach with that clearance.”

 

Rin sighed and knelt down, “Well that is.”

 

Sorano knelt down beside Rin, “We need to know. I have a feeling that the wasp youkai are looking for Kagome. I need to know in order to help protect her.”

 

“Well I'll see about asking Kaeda. Maybe if I reason with her she will let me know. If it does work and she tells me I'll will make sure to get back to you at once.”

 

“Good.”

Kagome stood in front of her vanity mirror looking over what she had decided to wear. She still couldn't believe that she was suckered into a double date with Sango and Miroku. It wouldn't be so bad if Sango would just admit to herself that she actually liked Miroku. But she has to play the tough girl and say that she isn't. Not to mention that I really wanted to go out with Inuyasha alone tonight.

 

Kagome still couldn't believe how fast the week went by. Of course they were kept busy most of the time because of Konala escaping and the attack of the wasp youkai. They had to go out on patrol almost every night to try and find Mystic. But he seemed to have vanished. No other team had seen hide nor hair of him in weeks.

 

Kagome picked up her French clip and twisted her hair into an elegant but loose French twist. Well if I am going out with Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha it doesn't mean that I can't look good. Kagome twirled in front of the mirror. She had decided to go with a simple crimson dress. The dress was low cut but fashionably so. There were three spaghetti straps that looped over her shoulders and criss crossed down her back. The back of the dress was open and the straps connected to the low waist that was cut in a v pattern. The dress was form fitting from the bust to the waist and then flared out reaching about four inches above her knee. To finish the look Kagome decided to wear black strappy sandals.

 

Kagome decided to wear a little make-up. Inuyasha told her long ago that he didn't like girls who poured on the make-up so Kagome wore only a little on her eyes. She smiled at herself in the mirror before she turned around and reached for her long black business looking jacket. Once she had the jacket on the dress completely disappeared. Good I want to knock his socks off at the restaurant.

 

Kagome walked from her room, down the hall and to Sango's room. She knocked softly on the door and heard the muffled yell of `come in'. Kagome opened the door and her jaw dropped. There was Sango wearing a Chinese looking dress that was made up of two different shades of deep pink and black. To finish off the look she decided to wear low heal Chinese slip on shoes. Her hair was pulled up into a bun with a hair clip of a crane elegantly placed into her hair. She wore her usual pink eye shadow and her lips were lightly dusted a blush pink.

 

“Wow… Sango I can't believe that you are going all out when you don't even like the guy.”

 

Sango blushed and looked away from Kagome. “Remember I am doing this because it was the only way to make him forget that he ever saw or heard about the United Alliance. I figured if I looked like this he would think that he was actually on the phone with me rather then escaping near death with the `rumoured' United Alliance.”

 

Kagome shook her head, as Sango picked out a simple black shall and slipped it around her shoulders. “Well I think that it's safe to say that he wouldn't even be thinking about the United Alliance for about…oh… thirty years.”

 

Sango blushed even more as she pushed past Kagome and out into the hall. She is so in `like' with that lecherous monk that it isn't even funny. Kagome grinned. Well okay so maybe it is funny.

 

Sango and Kagome headed down the long staircase and waited by the door. Kagome could tell that Sango was nervous. “Don't worry Sango I know that you are nervous but don't even think about it. Inuyasha and I will be there and that way we can keep the conversation going and it won't get awkward.”

 

“I know but I still have to go out with that lecher. At least you're going with someone that you actually like.”

 

Kagome shook her head and was about to reply when the door chimes sounded. Kagome smiled as she reached for the door handle. Standing outside the door was Miroku and Inuyasha. Kagome had to do a drool check to make sure that all her saliva was still in her mouth and not pooling on the floor. There in the doorway was Inuyasha. He was wearing nice form fitting black slacks with a deep crimson red dress shirt. The shirt had four of its buttons undone and a black wife beater was just visible.

 

Inuyasha walked into the house, smiled and nodded at Sango, before he marched right over to Kagome and pulled him into his arms. “Good Evening Beautiful.” Kagome smiled as Inuyasha leaned down and captured her lips. Kagome felt herself falling into Inuyasha as the kiss left her knees weak. Inuyasha smirked and pulled away.

 

“So what are you wearing tonight?” Kagome grinned mischievously at Inuyasha.

 

“I will show you once we get to the restaurant.”

 

“My dear flower Sango. You look so beautiful tonight.” Miroku stepped forward, took her hand in his and leaned down and kissed it softly.

 

“Thank-you you look pretty good yourself.” Miroku released her hand and smiled at her. That's it Miroku no lecherous acts tonight so that Sango will see that she really does like you. Just don't mess it up by groping her in public or something stupid like that.

 

Inuyasha took Kagome's hand and headed for the door. “You guys coming or do I get a night alone with Kagome?”

 

Kagome glanced over her shoulder and watched as Miroku offered Sango his arm. Sango blushed as she hooked her arm through his and allowed him to lead her from the house. So far so good.

Inuyasha was trying his best to control himself. They had arrived at the restaurant at about 7:30 and they had just finished dinner. Kagome's outfit was driving him crazy. She was wearing an open back dress and just the sight of her soft pale skin was driving him insane. All he could think about was taking Kagome home with him and having his way with her.

 

Inuyasha still couldn't explain what it was about this girl that was making him feel all these things. He had had girlfriends before but none of them raised his youkai blood to the surface whenever she was near. He could feel this youkai blood trying to take over when she would lean into him or whenever he would kiss her. His youkai blood knew that Kagome was to be his mate. But he had to wait. Kagome had said that there were things in her past and in her future that needed to be attended to first before they could mate with each other.

 

Miroku, Sango and Kagome were all having a wonderful chat session. Inuyasha was to busy staring at Kagome to notice that he was almost drooling. He let his mind wander until they were done talking and he could steal Kagome away for a little bit of fun. After all the monk had been talking about this date for days now and he knew that Miroku didn't like the idea that Inuyasha and Kagome were coming.

Inuyasha stood in front of Goshinboku. He had decided to go for a late night run since he couldn't sleep. He also didn't feel the need to change. He was used to running around and why would it be any different if all he was only wearing were a pair of black baggy sweat pants. He was never seen on any of his runs so why would tonight be any different. He looked up into the softly swaying boughs of Goshinboku and a sort of serenity washed over him. I always feel so free when I look at this old tree. This tree has withstood the test of time. There is just something about it that makes my soul feel free.

 

“Its beautiful isn't it.”

 

Inuyasha spun around and gasped. There was Kagome. She was wearing only a thin material bathrobe that was loosely tied in the front. Her hair was messy like she had been sleeping. The clouds cleared in the sky and when the moon's rays bathed their ethereal light on her she looked goddess like.

 

“Your beautiful my Kagome.”

 

Kagome smiled as she walked towards him. She walked right up to Goshinboku and placed her hand on the worn bark. “My Jii-chan used to tell me tales about this tree. He used to say that when two people who loved each other very much kissed under its branches they would live a long and happy life together.” Kagome turned and looked at Inuyasha with love in her eyes. “My father proposed to my mama under this very tree.”

 

Inuyasha closed the short gap between them and took Kagome in his arms. “And did they live happily ever after?” Inuyasha ran his hands up and down Kagome's back.

 

“I believe they did.” Kagome snuggled in closer to Inuyasha and wrapped her arms around his waist.

 

“So if I kiss you under this tree we will live happily together?”

 

Kagome pulled back and looked once again into Inuyasha's eyes. Inuyasha lost himself in the mocha river of her eyes as they stared at each other in a peaceful silence. Kagome looked to Inuyasha's lips as she licked her own. It was more then he could take. Here he was holding Kagome in his arms, in nothing but a bathrobe, and she was his for the taking.

 

Inuyasha pulled Kagome closer as he ravished her lips. She moaned as he ran his claws lightly down her back and over her buttock. Kagome nipped at Inuyasha's lips as she begged him to deepen their innocent kiss. He pulled back and looked at her. Her face was lightly flushed and she was breathing in short pants. Inuyasha leaned down and licked her bottom lip slowly before taking into his mouth. Kagome arced her back as Inuyasha nibbled and sucked on her pouty swollen red lip.

 

Kagome was mumbling incoherently as Inuyasha once again kissed her fully this time diving into her mouth and relishing in the taste that was purely Kagome. She tasted like the sweetest wine and purest love. She was his and she was willingly allowing him to love her. Inuyasha gently rubbed his tongue across Kagome's as she rubbed herself against his body.

 

Inuyasha could feel a fire burning through him as she racked her nails down his bare back. His youkai blood twisted and boiled through his veins as he tortured Kagome's mouth with his tongue. He pulled away, kissing her softly once more on her swollen lips, before he kissed her cheek, her jaw, before finally reaching her ear. Kagome pulled herself more against Inuyasha as he nibbled on the soft flesh of her ear lobe.

 

“Inuyasha… I need you…” Kagome's words softly blew against the sensitive hairs of his ears. Inuyasha growled deeply as he started the slow torturous journey down her neck. Kagome moaned as Inuyasha licked a path from her ear, down the side of her neck, and finally lavishing her pulse point. Inuyasha succumbed to the youkai screaming in his head as he kissed her hard on the neck.

 

Kagome cried out as he sucked the tender flesh into his mouth. She was trembling in his arms as he ran his fangs over her pulse. “Please… Inuyasha…”

 

Inuyasha growled as his youkai blood soared as his bitch begged him to please her even more. Her arousal filled the air all around him and fuelled him on. Her scent was the very air that he breathed. The life force of his world. Inuyasha whined softly as Kagome started to rub her hips into his loins.

 

Inuyasha pulled back and stared down at the women in his arms. Her eyes were filled with lust and she was breathing heavily from his ministrations. Her robe had pulled away from her body and now Inuyasha could see the crest of her full round breasts. He ran his hands from her buttock, over her hips and rested his hands against the knot that held her robe on.

 

Kagome smiled as she placed her hands over his and helped him to untie her robe. Once the sash was removed her robe fell off her shoulders and landed in a silken pool around her feet. Kagome looked more like a goddess as her pale skin shimmered in the glow of the moon. Her round breasts rising and falling as she breathed. Her nipples were erect from the cool night breeze and his warm kisses.

 

She reached up and cupped his cheek. She smiled sweetly as she looked into his very soul. Inuyasha lost all sense of time and reality as she gently ran her thumb back and forth across his cheek. She licked her lips as she stood up on her tiptoes and closed the distance between them. Inuyasha growled softly as her hot tot nipples pressed against his chest and still Kagome drew closer. Inuyasha's breath quickened as Kagome's hot breath washed across his face.

 

“Koga what are you doing!”

Inuyasha shook his head. What the fuck! It took Inuyasha a minute to realize that he had completely zoned out. Kagome was standing with her back to him and in front of her was Koga. Inuyasha felt his youkai blood, which was already close to the surface because of the fantasy that he was having, boiled through his veins.

 

How dare he touch what is mine! Kagome is mine! Inuyasha growled deeply as he stood up. Kagome turned around and gasped at him. All Inuyasha could see was his enemy. Koga. Everything in the room started to change to hues of blood red. Inuyasha felt it. His youkai blood was taking over and it wanted blood. The blood of his rival male. Koga.
