Chapter 29-Hanyou Dispute

Kayoko's POV

 

Does he know my secret? Am I in danger? How could I possibly be? I could kill all the wolves here right now if I wanted to. But I don't. What's wrong with me? Why am I so paranoid lately? Is it because of the dream I had? Is it because I'm being chased? Who are you figure in the mist?

Normal POV

 

Kayoko was awakened from her thoughts when Luke began to speak.

Luke-Are you all right Kayoko?

Kayoko-Where's the smell coming from?

Luke let got of Kayoko and looked about the dance floor. He spotted his friend Jacque and began walking towards him as Kayoko followed curiously. Luke walked right up to the couple dancing and sniffed once more, as Kayoko came up from behind. He pointed straight at Akeela, as she turned to look at him with innocent eyes.

Luke-You're a Half-Breed.

The musicians immediately stopped playing, and everyone in the room gasped, and a few wineglasses shattered onto the floor. The embarrassed Akeela looked around the room in surprise, as Jacque immediately let go from her hands. Luke looked into her eyes with angst, as Akeela stepped back in fear.

Luke-How dare you defile the name of this land with your dirty blood! GET OUT!

When the poor hanyou girl did neither answer nor move, Luke raised his hand to strike her across the face with his claws. Kayoko saw the scene, and imagined the little Inuyasha and the elder from long ago in the same situation. Little Inuyasha not knowing that he'd done anything wrong as Akeela was know, and Luke thinking that he should be the one to punish her for thinking that hanyous were welcome in his shared domain this land n which his kind controlled. Kayoko despised those like him, both demons and humans alike. Especially the humans who would treat them horribly when they were young so that they'd cower in fear of the mere humans when they were older. Kayoko remembered, and she knew that if she did the same thing, it'd have almost the same affect, on everyone.

Luke was ready to strike and brought his hand down just an inch away from Akeela's face as she turned trying not to look. Suddenly Kayoko was once again there and grabbed Luke by the wrist. Everyone was surprised, even Koga and the others. The French Wolf Demon put on a shocked face as he sweetly said Kayoko's named in an interrogative manner.

Luke-What are you doing?

Kayoko-Saving my reincarnation's life.

Once again everyone gasped; they knew that if Akeela was a hanyou that meant that Kayoko had to be one too.

Luke-But you smell, like a full-blooded demon, how can this be?

Kayoko-Ever heard of Nianna?

Luke-The wench who tried to kill Midoriko to avenge the deaths of her aunts and uncles?

Kayoko slowly nodded her head.

Koga-What of her Kayoko?

Kayoko turned her head to Koga, surprised to hear him speak right now; nevertheless, she still kept her expressionless mask on her face.

Kayoko-I'm Nianna's reincarnation, and Akeela's my reincarnation. We all possess the powers of the six Black Diamonds, given to Nianna by her father.

She turned her head back to Luke, but ever tightening her grip on his wrist as it began to turn pink.

Kayoko-I don't think that you'd want to mess with someone who could merely twist your arm a little too hard, and have you end up six feet under the city of Paris.

Everyone's eyes widened as Luke now began cowering in fear of Kayoko, especially Akeela. `Why does she protect me when I can protect myself? Does she not have faith in me? Well, I did do nothing when I knew that he was going to strike me. Why can't I always summon my powers, I flew most of the way here, why not now?' thought Akeela.

Kayoko let go of Luke's wrist, sparing him a broken arm, one action not granted unto the elder, that's because the elder lied. Luke merely cowered and feared her, she could respect those who had nothing that was good and true to say and so said nothing, instead of lying your way out of a negative situation.
