Chapter 30-Kayoko's Secrets
Kayoko-Continue on with your ball if you must, but I shall take no part in it.
Kayoko stormed out through the doors with Koga following behind her. She walked into the gardens where many statues of Greek gods were looking upon her as she sat on a bench in a secluded and cut-off part of the garden that was surrounded by trees, Sakura trees imported from Japan. It reminded her of the one back in Japan, the one where she and Inuyasha had parted, the one where she had left a little boy with no hope, the one that she transformed into a full-blooded demon right before that same boy's eyes. Koga ran in through the mass of trees and saw Kayoko staring at him, she knew he would come, she needed to talk to him.
Koga-Hey, why'd you storm out like that?
Kayoko-I was sick of Luke's attitude, and I needed to talk to you.
Koga was a bit confused and showed it without realization, he cocked his head and then moved forward towards Kayoko and sat right beside her, while she watched him this entire time.
Kayoko-Do you know how Inuyasha and I met?
Koga-Not really, come to think of it, I don't even know how he and Kagome met.
Kayoko waved her hand and they were in an identical garden, the one back in Japan, it was the past, the scene that haunted Kayoko for years. Kayoko could hear her own voice; it still sounded the same even though this was 58 years before.
(Past) Kayoko-Inuyasha, I have to leave.
Koga was surprised that Kayoko knew Inuyasha when he was this old.
Koga (whisper)-you knew Inuyasha like 11 years ago?
Kayoko-No, I first met Inuyasha over 58 years ago.
Koga-Neither you or Inuyasha can be that old.
Kayoko-We can and are, see Inuyasha loved Kikyo, the woman you saw earlier, the one that I was insulting and Inuyasha and I were going to fight. Naraku tricked them into betraying one another and in the end Inuyasha was pinned to a Sacred Tree with one of Kikyo's arrows, and the priestess died from her wounds given to her by Naraku.
Koga-What about you?
Kayoko-I naturally don't age and have eternal youth and immortality. There's only one way I can die and that's if someone were to take out the black diamond embedded in my forehead, but only someone of great spiritual or demonic power can take it out or place it back inside myself.
Kayoko once again waved her hand and they were in front of the Sacred Tree, and so was someone else. It was once again a younger Kayoko, she was speaking to a boy, Inuyasha who was still pinned to the tree, and it was the day after Inuyasha was sealed to the tree.
Koga-This is the Sacred Tree?
Kayoko-Yes, when I learned Inuyasha was sealed to the tree, the very next morning I was there to watch him, to mourn for him and to just talk to him even though he couldn't hear me.
The Kayoko from the past was now sobbing, but Koga could still hear her words.
(Past) Kayoko-Inuyasha what have you done to yourself, falling in love with a mortal?
Silence was her reply, as the girl slowly walked forward and stepped on a rock to reach Inuyasha's face. She looked at his face, his eyes were closed and the last words that had left his lips, had been words of sorrow and confusion. She pushed away one of his silver locks from his face.
(Past) Kayoko-What happened to the little boy that would stay away from humans and follow me everywhere because he knew that only I could protect him without getting injured myself? Why Inuyasha? That's all I ask from you, to be able to tell me why. And yet, you can't answer me.
The girl began sobbing and the massive rock that she was standing on was lifted into the air as she held Inuyasha's head close to her chest. Her tears splashed onto his hair, she kept sobbing even though she knew that her pleas would never reach his ears, not for 50 years.
(Past) Kayoko-Inuyasha, I miss hearing your voice talking to me, I miss playing with your ears, I miss hearing your being overconfident. I miss you, and at one point, I knew that I loved you, but if I continue to transform into a demon like that, I could never live with myself knowing that I'm the one who killed you. The Keepers won't allow me to remove Kikyo's arrow, they said that I couldn't interfere, that I would receive severe punishment if so happened. Since they cannot harm me, I believe that they might try to destroy you. I can't let that happen, even if I'll have to wait 50 years to hear you again, its worth it…because I love you.
The Kayoko from the past let go of Inuyasha and returned to her original spot on the ground. She slowly pulled out a scroll and dagger, and walked over to the base of the tree. The past Kayoko began cutting a hole into the tree's bark. When the hole was big enough she placed the scroll inside and her image became fuzzy to Koga as everything else did too. The present Kayoko's eyes glowed green as they were now sitting on the bench that they were at before they time traveled. When Kayoko's eyes returned to their normal state (but still a green) Koga could tell that she was exhausted. She gave him a weak smile with bags under her eyes, then closed her eyelids and was about to collapse onto the soft grass but Koga caught her and held her close for a tight embrace.
Koga-Kayoko, you're energy is all gone. Time travel must be difficult, even for one such as yourself.
He straightened out her legs so that part of her was lying on the bench, and the upper portion of her body was resting on Koga's lap. There was the sound of feet hitting the grass in the distance. Eight legs running at full speed, Koga guessed that it was probably Akeela, Ayame, Ginta and Hakaku. Of course he was right, and in no time the four other wolves were there to see Kayoko and Koga. The poor hanyou girl was breathing heavily and Koga was brushing her hair out of her face. Ayame was outraged by the scene, but still kept quiet as Kayoko's breathing was rapidly going faster and faster.
Akeela ran over to Kayoko, and placed her hand on the girl's forehead. Koga was puzzled as well as everyone else, though no one said a word. Akeela's hand began to glow green, the same way that Kayoko's had when she time-traveled. When the “junior doctor” raised her hand from Kayoko's forehead, the hanyou's breathing only increased until she woke up suddenly and screamed
