In the lands farther south of Kiade's village, Elandra continued to search for her younger sister. She traveled in to a forest she had not yet searched. While traveling she began to since another demon, one with great power. She looked down the path behind her she saw a man approaching. He was tall, dressed in white, with a long silvery white mane flowing in the breeze as he walked. His armor was that only royalty could afford and at his side were two swords. Behind him walked a huge dragon with two heads. A small green demon in a brown robe walked a few steps behind him. As she paused to watch them pass she noticed a young human girl sitting on the back of the huge dragon.
She paid little attention to the traveling companions and focused on the demon who appeared to be leading them. There was softness to his face though his aura was masculine. He walked proudly yet gracefully past her never making any sign suggesting he even noticed her. Something in her demanded his attention. She called out to the traveler.
“Oi stranger!” her voice breaking the silence.
But the stranger did not answer and kept walking. Angered she drew out her sword. One way or another she was going to get the answers she sought.
“I said hey!” she hissed. The stranger stopped walking and looked back out of the corner of his eye. “I search for a panther demon, have you seen her?”
Sesshoumaru turned to face her. To him the mention of a panther demon sent anger flowing through his veins. He as his father before him had fought with panther demons from the west. He drew out his sword Tokijin. Realizing his demeanor had changed she could now sense his full power. Never had she met another demon that could rival her own power.
“You fool!” the little green demon replied. “Panther demons are not allowed in Lord Sesshoumaru's land. He defeated them and allowed them to retreat back to their lands in the west!”
“Jaken!” Sesshoumaru spoke in his stern voice. “Take Ah-Uh and Rin and get back.”
“Ah you must be the great demon lord I have heard about.” Elandra laughed. “Lord Sesshoumaru,” she said playfully. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Elandra. The leader of the black panther clan from the southern island. Those panther demons you speak of are a disgrace to any cat demon.” She held the hilt of her sword with her left hand prepared for anything. “I do not wish to battle with you. I have traveled to these lands seeking my sister.”
Sesshoumaru eyed her as she spoke. He continued to stare at her for a few moments after she finished speaking and finally answered her. “I have not seen your sister.” He said coolly as he returned his sword to his side and continued down the path.
Elandra stood trying to recompose herself. The direct contact of their eyes had thrown her off. She had been awe struck by the overpowering presence of him. She began to pick up another scent on the wind and it was neither Sesshoumaru nor his travel companions. The incredibly evil aura made even her feel threatened. She drew out her sword and took to the air leaping over Sesshoumaru's head and landed back behind Jaken and Ah-Uh.
She slashed at the trees before her cutting them down to stumps. A huge bear demon stood up on its hind legs growling and snarling. With one long stroke she sliced the demon in half and its lifeless body fell to the ground. Sesshoumaru was beside himself though he did not show it. He had been so focused on this new demon he had not noticed the approaching demon. And by the time he had Elandra was already battling the demon. He was impressed by her skill, speed, and strength yet his face did not show it. He continued walking as if nothing had happened, Ah-Uh and Jaken followed. Jaken eyed the demon princess as they continued to walk past her.
“Not even a thank you.” She muttered to herself as they past.
Jaken heard her words and took it upon himself to put her in her place. “Foolish girl! Master Sesshoumaru needs no help from the likes of you!”
“This may be true imp, but he does need a lesson in manners!” she hissed back at him holding the end of her sword to his little green neck.
Sesshoumaru placed himself between the two pushing her sword to the side. He glared at her eye to eye as his golden eyes began to turn red growling. Jaken took his chance to get out of the way and ran over to Ah-Uh and began to lead him away.
“You dare to challenge me.” Elandra laughed with glowing green eyes.
Sesshoumaru transformed into his true form, a huge white dog with a white fluffy mane like a lion would have, and snarled at her. The drool that fell from his mouth melted holes in the earth, his growls and barks made the earth tremor. Elandra transformed into a huge black panther and roared back at the white dog. They circled each other sizing each other up. Elandra opened her jaws and sent flames flying towards Sesshoumaru as a dragon would have. He dodged the attack jumping up into the air landing on the back of the huge panther. He sunk his teeth into her shoulder trying to force her to the ground. Elandra rolled onto her side and grabbed hold of the dog with her claws and with her own huge K-9 teeth went for the throat. As the two wrestled to over power the one another, the earth quaked, and a huge dust cloud stirred.
When the dust finally cleared the huge panther stood over the great dog demon having pinned him down. Her teeth still gripping his throat, Sesshoumaru growled fiercely. And as quickly as it had begun, both demons transformed back into their human like form. Elandra had a few wounds on her arms and one on her back on her right shoulder where Sesshoumaru's venom had injured her. Sesshoumaru did not go uninjured. He had wounds on his neck and others that could not be seen due to the fact they were covered by his clothes. He stared down the cat demon not sure if he hated her or if he was taken back by her. She cautiously watched him as he started to walk away.
Elandra felt bad for being so hasty in attacking the demon lord. She knew the events that had unfolded were due to her stressful situation because of her sister. She reached into her pouch and grabbed hold of a clam shell that she used to store an antiseptic that would help a demon heal faster. “Wait!” She called to him. Sesshoumaru paused turning back to look at her. “I am sorry for what just happened. I was out of line.” She walked closer to him. “Here take this. It will help you to heal faster.”
Sesshoumaru eyed the clam shell in her hand as if it were going to attack him.
“Please as a peace offering.” She begged. She grabbed his right hand and placed the clam in his hand. Realizing she had just touched him, and wasn't trying to kill him, she dropped her eyes to the ground and a faint shade of pink flushed her cheeks. She quickly released his hand and backed away. Sesshoumaru studied the shell for a moment and when he looked back up she was gone.
Jaken had been watching the battle from a distance. When the dust cleared he watched as the two stood face to face and then saw the demon girl disappear in a flash of light. He quickly ran down to Sesshoumaru leaving Ah-Uh with Rin sitting on his back atop the hill. “Mi-Lord!” he shouted running down to him. “What happened Lord Sesshoumaru?” he asked curiously wondering why Sesshoumaru hadn't killed her.
Sesshoumaru made no reply as he placed the clam inside his armor. He didn't even look at the little imp as he turned and walked past him towards Ah-Uh. “Let's go, Jaken.” As the day slowly past Sesshoumaru often returned his thoughts to the panther demon, there was something intriguing about her. No doubt she had power and skill, and was one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen, but there was something else. She had an air about her, the kind that would demand attention when she came into view. Could it be she was royalty of some kind?
Elandra had flown through the air about a half a mile as fast as she could finally stopping and perching herself in a tree. `What just happened?' She though to herself. `Why did I blush when I was touching him? I don't get embarrassed!' Her heart was still pounding from the close encounter with the great dog demon. She never would have admitted it to anyone was she was taken by him. She stayed there sitting safely perched in the tree until she was able to refocus her mind and then continued searching for her sister.
