“I don't know how I'm going to repay you, Miroku…” Kagome said nervously. She could picture him asking her to bear his child and her saying no and then he would be heartbroken, since he loved her. But she didn't want to make him sad, he was one of her best friends, one of the best friends she ever had. She loved him as a friend, but nothing else.

 

“I was just curious. Might I give some suggestions?” Miroku said slyly.

 

This was really starting to piss off Inuyasha. “You're such a lecher! I'll kill you with my own hands!” he said, cracking his knuckles.

 

“No, Inuyasha don't hurt him!” Kagome shouted as she stood in front of Miroku, arms stretched out, clearly showing that she was protecting him.

 

“Kagome what are you doing!? Why are you on HIS side!?” Inuyasha shouted in shock and anger.

 

“Inuyasha! Miroku is our ally! Don't hurt him! I'm not trying to protect him for any reason YOU'RE thinking…he's our friend!” And right then Kagome stepped back and stood next to Miroku, trying to show that she was really his friend. But Miroku got the wrong idea, and touched her butt.

 

“MIROKU!! I WAS SIDING WITH YOU AND YOU DO THIS!” And then Kagome punched him in the stomach, causing Miroku to fall back.

 

“Geez…” cough cough “…you're more aggressive than Sango…oww….” Miroku said in pain.

 

“Keh, serves you right.” Inuyasha said. Then he went over to Kagome, put her on his back, and starting running towards camp. He was going to keep watch over Kagome. He didn't trust Miroku; he thought that Miroku would try something on Kagome.

 

“Inuyasha you better hurt Miroku tomorrow…not KILL…just HURT…” Kagome said in a tired but angry voice.

 

“I think YOU hurt him pretty bad,” Inuyasha said, and started laughing. Inuyasha was LAUGHING. Kagome smiled.

 

“I love to see you laugh, Inuyasha.” Kagome said, still smiling.

 

 

“It's not that big of a deal…geez…you get all worked up for the stupidest reasons, Kagome.” Inuyasha said in his usual tough-guy voice.

 

“Stupidest isn't a word, Inuyasha. You say `most stupid'.” Kagome said, being a smart-allic.

 

“I don't care” Inuyasha said.

 

“Well, I'm going to sleep now, Inuyasha.” She said suddenly.

 

Inuyasha went over to Kagome and kissed her, but it was not like a `Goodnight' kiss, it was more of a `I love you' kiss. After they stopped kissing, Kagome got into her sleeping bag. Inuyasha lay down beside her and just looked at her with a peaceful look in his eyes.

 

“Inuyasha?”

 

“Hm?”

 

“Why are you lying down next to me?”

 

“Well…uhhh…if Miroku comes then…I can make him think I'm sleeping and then I can attack him!!” Inuyasha lied, but then he thought it wasn't such a bad idea.

 

“That's a good idea,” Kagome said while she yawned.

 

“You get some sleep, ok?” Inuyasha said. Then he put his arm around her and felt her body relax. Then he heard something. He pulled out his sword, and was waiting to strike anything that came nearby. Screw his other plan.

 

What came out form behind a tree was none other than Shippo, and he popped out all happy as usual.

 

“HI INUYASHA!!” Shippo shouted, scaring the living crap out of Inuyasha.

 

“Can you play with me since Kagome is sleeping? Please??” Shippo made a cute little pleading face.

 

“Keh, fine. But not for too long cause it's getting late. Understand, runt?”

 

“Ok! Thanks!” Shippo said as he ran behind a tree really quick before Inuyasha could catch up. Miroku sat crouched down and gave Shippo a candy bar that Kagome had given to him the other day.

 

“Thank you Shippo.” Miroku said in a delighted whisper.

 

“I don't know how I'm helping you, but oh well.” Shippo said in a happy little voice as he ran off, stuffing his candy bar in his kimono so he could eat it later as he ran off to go play with Inuyasha.

 

Miroku waited till Shippo and Inuyasha were gone, then walked over to Kagome. He stared at her elegant form and crouched down beside her. `If only you belonged to me instead of Inuyasha….'

 

Right then Miroku leaned forward towards Kagome and locked his lips against hers.
